The update aborts with the massage:
"/system/vendor/etc/audio_effects.conf" has unexpected contents
Do have unmodified 4.4.4

my phone is on 38R now, but it's in bootloop after the "CM lockscreen has stopped" message.
Can I use "adb sideload" to downgrade my phone with a 33R or 25R flash file?
the reason I am asking is I want to be sure this will not erase my internal sd storage.
The bootloader is lock, and it's unrooted with stock recovery.
I'm in 4.4,Rooted,bootloaded unlocker and using TWRP.
While flashing 5.0 OTA using TWRP i'm getting error "error executing updater binary in zip".
Any help..
This process was *MY* solution. It worked for me.
I too was rooted with CF and *STOCK RECOVERY*.
To be able to sideload the OTA I had to:
1) download and extract the 5.0 factory image
2) fastboot flash boot boot.img
3) fastboot flash system system.img
4) adb sideload The5_0_1OTA.zip
The CF root process modifies one or both of boot and/or system. The 5.0.1 OTA will not apply with these modified.
The above process will not lose data.
I've had an issue with installation of CM update < cm-12.0-YNG1TAS2I3-bacon-signed-fastboot.zip >.
I've tried pretty much everything; so I placed the file in the DOWNLOAD folder on the OPO.
Booted to Recovery
Went to the DOWNLOAD folder
Clicked on the <cm-12.0-YNG1TAS2I3-bacon-signed-fastboot,zip> file.
It appeared to start the install; but ended with the following message:
"Install failed
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E: footer is wrong
E: signature verification failed
Installation aborted."
Short of attempting to do a FULL CyanogenMOD fastboot flash; are there some suggestions about how to resolve the issue>
FWIW: When I fastboot flash recovery TWRP-2.8.7.0-bacon.img it installs; but after shutting down the OPO and restarting it a a later time, If I close down to "Recovery Mode" the OPO has reverted to the stock recovery UI.

It's because you're trying to flash the wrong zip, that's the fastboot zip.
Then should I be flashing the file marked as "dedug"?

No, you should be flashing one of the normal flashable zips, you'll find them here:

I have a Q706F using Global ROM. Have Unlocked the Bootloader, magisk install and change to TWRP.
Caught a OTA but cannot install. Found the OTA.ZIP and try flashing in TWRP but there was a error (device on SUPER....)
How to you guy flash these OTA.zip?
Put TWRP in sideload mode, and sideload the OTA via ADB: adb sideload ota.zip
