Anyone having terrible battery? I'm at 55% with only 40 minutes screen on time. For some reason "Android OS" is at the top of my battery list. Any suggestion on how to fix this? I'd hate to go back to KK. At this rate I'd have to charge 4 times a day. I lost 4% writing this post...
After the upgrade to 5.0, on a full charge it says my estimated time left is 4 hours.
Not sure what's going on here.
I'm guessing it's the old "Miscellaneous" issue that plagued the Dev Preview, that Google was saying they fixed, only now it's called Android OS. It even uses the same icon.
Mine is dropping rather quickly too. 12% in 1 hour with minimal use.

Yeah its same (or worse) here. I came to look if somebody had posted something similar about it - or to know if I'm alone in this.
It is so bad that on USB charging it actually discharges if the screen is on! AC charging is alright, but as soon as I take it off charger, I can almost see the percentage dropping.
Project Volta they said. There will be battery improvements they said.

I loved the look and feel of 5.0 (Preview). I was even willing to give up all custom ROM tweaks and Xposed modules for it. But after a week I had to come back to KitKat because the battery on Lollipop was so bad I literally couldn't get through the day.
KitKat feels so 'agricultural' in comparison to 5.0, but it just works and my phone doesn't die in 6hrs.
Mine isn't too bad... Reporting 8 hours left with 55 minutes SoT only at 75%. I switched from my One M8 so I expected a drop in battery.
I'm going to let it settle in though. Liking the look and feel of lollipop too much to go back to KK. The weekend will be a good test for me.
I rooted and took out Google's bloatware.
6%, 4 hours SOT, Been using a lot of chrome, YouTube, and Chrome video playing, also did the removing of apps, got a feel for the system and functionality testing.... This thing went through a hellish 3.5 hours in my case.
Personally, I'm impressed.
Suggestion? Root and remove bloatware apps.
Also, Greenify apps.
I believe the only thing that isn't too like is the battery drop when sleeping. I haven't done any detective work on the wake locks just yet

This. My biggest sacrifice moving from KK was XPosed and the selection of awesome modules I was using.
I just finished restoring my nand backup of L Dev preview - atleast the battery is ok on that. Didn't notice a difference between it and final release anyway.
I am having battery drain issues also. Off the charger at 730 and down to 44% at 1130 with about 30 minutes of screen on time. I am rooted, so I wonder if modifying the boot image to root lollipop is doing something...

I removed Chrome, G+, GP Movies, GP Music, GP Games.. disabled Keep and Drive etc. I didn't use Greenify as I usually get better results with DS Battery Saver. Nothing I tried helped... back to Dev Preview for now..
I'm at 87% with 25 minutes and 30 seconds of SOT since 9am this morning.
Proportionally, that would put me at ~3 hours and 12 minutes of SOT.. usage has been fairly light, too.

We know not everyone is having problems. So posting about a Ok or above average battery life doesn't help us poor suffering souls much
Though it'd be awesome if someone who is going through the pain comes across a way to solve the issue.
For me the worst battery eaters are always:
- Android OS
- Google Services
- Android System
- Google Search
- Miscellaneous (sometimes, but its not the worst one)

Understandable, though there's no harm in having "normal" numbers for the sake of comparison as well.
I had issues with the Google Play Services keep-awake nonsense on KitKat, so naturally I'm keeping a close eye on what processes are draining my battery in L as well.
My battery is also suffering pretty badly. A week before I updated while I was on KK, the battery was horrible. 2 hours SOT from my usual 3. Idk what happened to Project Volta but... this is NOT looking good.

Yeah.. and as you can see from my list above - the worst ones are all Google. Btw read 'Google Services' above as 'Google Play Services'.
I did read in the code blue kernel thread the kernel dev mentioned that some root apps like Titanium Backup for example can cause the daemon su to lock the cpu up which causes high battery drain(Post #4913 http://forum.xda-developers.com/goo...ent/kernel-t2697951/post56634422#post56634422). I did use the beta titanium backup after I used cfautroot because the normal titanium backup wouldn't work. I wonder if that had any effect. Did any of you others with battery issues use titanium backup to restore anything?
I deleted Titanium backup and restarted my phone. I am going to evaluate after a full charge.

Is anyone experiencing terrible phone battery life on the Nexus 5 with the Moto 360 connected?
I see a lot of other posts about Nexus 5 battery life on Lollipop and as luck would have it, my timing is such that I just got the Moto 360 the day after I got Lollipop installed. For that reason I'm not ruling out that the Lollipop upgrade could be the main cause. Currently though, my battery life is roughly half of what it was pre-Moto 360/Lollipop.
I am typically a very light user of my phone and with the Moto 360 even less so,especially with screen-on time. I'm always on WiFi except when driving to/from work, get around 10 texts a day, maybe 30 emails (mostly work, which are through an Exchange server) and some Play Music/Audible listening with wired headphones. I would return home with 60-75% battery just 2 weeks ago and now it's closer to 15-25%. I'm completely stock, no-root and not very many (10-12) aftermarket apps other than stock Google. (No battery drainers like Facebook, etc.)
I'm admittedly somewhat of a noob when it comes to battery tracking apps such as are mentioned in all the other posts I've looked at, so I now have GSam installed and will look to get better stats before posting pics.
I will second the notion that I have read elsewhere: The battery tracker in Lollipop is flat-out wrong! I would get a really good idea in KitKat of anything that was going on with an app/service that was a battery drain and manage it accodingly. That's the main reason I never went looking for battery stat apps. Now, however, getting half the battery life I was, I almost never see any app or service jump above 7% and the most I've seen is 9%. That is a lie unless everything on my phone is using almost 50% more battery life across the board, including 3rd party.
I just wanted to throw this thread out there until I get some good screenshot stats from GSam to see if I was the only one seeing this issue.
I'm a similarly light user, during the working day I barely use it, and it's always on WiFi (3G reception where I work is terrible). Both my 360 and Nexus 5 were taken off charge at 7:30 this morning and as of now (4:25pm) my Nexus 5 is on 87% and my 360 on 83%. App wise I only the 360 for notifications on the phone and I only use Google apps bar a few extras on the phone (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, SoundCloud, etc.).
If you're getting bad life then chances are an app is the culprit

As of right now GSam has been listing Android system services as the main battery culprit, but I know it's still early since it's only been installed for a few hours. Battery life on my 360 is great for me! I pulled it off the charger at about 4:00 AM (MST) and I'm at 81%. I have only turned on my phone screen three times for less a minute each time since it was 100% charge around 2 hours ago.

It's funny, I never use any sort of battery monitor. I just use my phone as designed. I have all sync options on default settings. I've never needed to as I don't care about getting 6 hours SOT - if it lasts from when I get up to when I go to bed it's all good
It most likely isn't to do with your Moto 360 and more to do with some of the issues certain users seem to be experiencing with 5.0. Doing a factory reset or fresh install seems to help most of the time, probably because it gets rid of any offending apps.
Others have reported bad battery life in 5.0 until they updated to the latest Play Services, for instance.
If it is related to your Moto 360 it might be Google Fit acting up but I doubt it.

Thanks. I have done a factory reset...twice actually, because I had read the same thing. If this is what Project Volta and 5.0 have brought us then Google can have it back! Well, just Volta cause I love Lollipop in all it's glory; I just need decent battery life.
Maybe I'll try disabling Google Fit and stick with Moto Body for ****s and giggles.

Worth a shot. For the record, my battery life is great before and after the 5.0 OTA. Better than KK using Auto Syncs, the same otherwise. There is still hope for your battery life and Project Volta
Also if you're doing a factory reset but letting it restore all your apps that might not help. The theory being you may have some apps or services which are not completely compatible with 5.0 causing issues. If you haven't already, perhaps try starting fresh and then slowly adding back apps.

Good tip. That's something I hadn't given much thought to since I was so impressed with how far Lollipop has come and restoring all of my apps, folders, etc. I might have to give it another try.
P.S. EddyOS - I stole your signature because I liked it so much and it matches mine exactly. Hope you don't mind.
Ok so i've seen a few threads between here and other websites regarding the Note 3s battery issues but felt the need to make my own as I still haven't found any kind of solution.
I purchased my Note 3 N9005 (I live in the UK) around a month ago and ever since my battery has been terrible ever since. I am basing this on the fact that I have owned a Note 3 twice previously (I managed to get one just after they came out for a reasonable price second hand and also owned one around 6 months ago for a while) and battery life on those two devices were fantastic.
Around a week and a half ago I decided to root and try a couple of roms to see if it would make any difference after making sure it wasn't my SD card causing the problem and couldn't really try anything else. After going from the CMRemix, CM11 and Echoe 5.0 not a great deal changed on each after using each one for a couple of days, every day my battery gets hammered by 'android system' and 'android os'. After seeing a post about it I have gone back to stock touchwiz using the 4.4.2 Nordic firmware. This made no difference either.
I have posted some pictures of my battery life since getting up this morning. I always have sync turned off and my screen is always just above the minimum brightness. Im on Wifi a lot between work and home which in theory should use less power. I've been playing contest of champions quite a bit recently which I would expect to be a battery drainer but it is still beaten by my screen and this android system and OS combo. I also don't get why battery dropped around 18% (30 something to the 15% warning) in around 20 minutes which is the red line on the battery graph. Last Friday I went to sleep with my battery on around 78%, when I woke up it had dropped to 42% with no apps left running.
I'm literally out of ideas. I've tried everything i've seen on forums and it hasn't worked. I've owned an S5, m8 and z2 but ended up coming back to a note because they are simply fantastic phones. I am however seriously considering selling this and getting a different phone if I don't figure this out soon though. Can anyone help or is this simply an unsolvable problem caused by horrendous software implementation, or am I being stupid and should be content with 13 hours irregular battery life???

Thats just not normal, try to use app wakelock detector (from playstore) to see what apps are currently running, you can also go to the device app manager and then go to "running apps" and then see what apps are running on backround, that would give you a general idea of where are the battery draining apps. Then all you have to do is to disable/freeze them , using the inbuilt disable option under the app settings or using a third party program like app quarantine (from playstore). Note that i also recommend you disabling apps you dont use , like for example samsung apps etc.

Thanks for the advice. I even ordered a new battery from samsung which arrived this morning but that doesn't seem to have made much difference either. If I hadn't seen similar cases to mine i'd think my phone was broken but honestly I'm starting to think that is down to samsung software and won't ever be fixed. It's a shame because the Note 3 is the best phone i've owned but ill be steering clear of samsung devices in the future

Use Greenify to hibernate apps..it will save ur battery..
Greenify is a big help. Also use Titanium Backup to freeze or uninstall anything with the word 'Samsung' in it that you don't need (they're terrible, in my experience).
Some other things that can help are turning off GPS and Bluetooth when you don't need them, raising your wi-fi scan interval if you typically leave wi-fi on in areas you're not connected, using an app like AutoStarts to control what apps wake up when, and you should check what apps you have auto-syncing, and how often. If you don't need gmail and facebook to sync every 5 minutes (just an example), then change the interval. And unless you spent a good bit of time playing it before you took those screenshots, I would highly recommend ditching that Champions game.
Aside from that, another thing you might want to consider is trying a different kernel. Some kernels are just bad on battery life.
I'm on my original, stock battery, and I get 22-26 hours typically, with moderate usage, and anywhere from 6-10+ hours of screen on time. Right now I'm sitting at 18h5m29s with 5h26m3s screen on, with 27% battery left.

Trying a custom kernel is something else I'd though about. It's crazy that you've got those battery stats. My brightness is always near minimum and I only get 4 hours on a good day. Judging from posts I've read those android os and system percentages are accurate for the note 3 nowadays. I never have sync turned on so that can't be the issue. I've got this phone on ebay now so if I don't sort this out in the next couple of days I'll be moving on unfortunately, bit sad as this is the best phone I've owned

I'm in the same boat. Stock 4.3 with tons of apps frozen, greenify doing its thing and Google Play Services tamed as it was draining the battery. To me everything looks ok in WLD but I have noticed that something called 1013 which is always at the top with most amount of wakes, is that system audio? I also have screen brightness on minimum, powersaving mode on, bluetooth and gps off, sync on and most of the time usually on wifi networks.
I have managed 6hrs screen on before but when using device moderately over 2 days I get 4 hrs screen on time at best, usually 3 or 2.5 hrs.
The 6 hrs was managed when I watched 3 movies in a row, it seems sleep takes more than it should? Wake ups are a problem?

Yeah something has definitely gone wrong at the core of the phones software, especially when different roms and stock firmware builds are making no difference at all. I flashed AEL kernel yesterday so i'm seeing how that goes today. I'll post screenshots when i get home from work, so far my batteries only dropped 10% in 3 hours but thats with 30mins screen on time.
Had similar battery draining issues, I froze Unified Daemon (EUR) this appears to have fixed it.
I have faced this issue after my phone got the last update.
Even the android system was consuming more than the screen.
I removed Google account and put it back again but this time i limited the Google features that do the sync to the required only, gave a full recharge, the second day the android system consumption decrease a bit.
I gave it a full recharge cycle each day for the next 3 days and later it came back to normal.
I hope that helps.

Noticing your Galaxy S6 battery is draining too fast? This thread can help.
Part of the problem lies within a memory leak which is a known problem that Samsung is aware of and is reportedly patching in an upcoming update.
The other issue is Samsung attempts to load everything into memory and run several services in the background as well as hard loading the phone with bloatware.
Here is how I gained 30% better battery performance. Guaranteed
*Prerequisites
*Need to be rooted for every tip to work.
1. Disable anything you consider bloatware
2. Go to settings then application manager and disable both ANT radio service apps. You don't need this. Causes massive battery drain. Google it if you don't believe me.
3. Go to the app store and download "Servicely" from Franco. Paid app but worth the money...trust me. (Need root)
4. Once in servicely add running services and apps to your hit list, choose start at boot and run hit list while screen is off.
5. Reboot your phone. Give your phone a full charge and see the difference
Attached is a screenshot of realistic usage. I was on a poor lte signal for 9 hours and conducted several calls and used my phone moderately heavy. As you can see i got through my entire work day and still have 6 hours left at moderately heavy use.
Remember, this is realistic. I could have shown you a screenshot showing 18 hours left after only using it 1 hour. What I'm showing is a legit 9 hours of usage. Before I made these tweaks I would be at 10% battery or less after nine hours of the same usage.
Post your screenshots after 24-48 hours and let's see how much you are saving.

I decided to uninstall ANT. Not sure if its just me, but after just a few hours I think I can tell a difference already. The battery isn't just dropping like it was, especially when idle. I'll post my results from my full day tomorrow.

Thanks for the tip, it's funny I installed the Sac23 rom which is pretty debloated, I'd assumed this ant radio would be removed but never really checked, surely enough it's still there and active.
My battery has been noticibly better with Sac23 rom from stock but looking forward to seeing the increased benefits of disabling ANT+.
Are these the only 2 ANT apps we need to disable?

But today I'm just here to give an advice, I notice that many people complain about the battery life on their new phones , I had the same issue with my note 5 , I saw a video on YouTube and the phone showed an estimation of battery usage of 18hours while mine only showed 9 , I immediately thought that my phone was broken or something until a month later I realized that I was getting more than 20 hours of battery usage , when we use a phone for the first 3-5 days ( specially android) we can't expect it to be fully optimized because it's still learning your behavior and phone usage, just by installing a new app your making your phone to "learn to do something new" when I got my s7 edge I didn't expected to have great battery life , I was constantly installing and removing apps , flashing Roms and trying themes and etc. Now after a month later I use my phone on a pretty standard routine , I used package disabled but it only made my phone laggy and slower , so I decided to use my phone on the stock way , I running all stock , ( only disabled the apps that come with the phone that I don't use like power point , Samsung gear and health...) and after I did this I noticed a huge bump on battery life , I went from 12 hour of usage and 4:30-5hours of SOT to 30hours of usage and 8hours of SOT
After installing a custom/stock rom make sure to drain the battery completely just once to calibrate it !
I can never get more than 6 hrs sot.. Gonna follow your tips and write back in a week or so. Thanks for sharing!

Feel free to use package disabler, it was a lifesaver to me with my note 5 but not on the s7 , but other users report that has been really helpful other thing you could try even that the impact will be minimal is using a dark theme ,
Also don't update to the newer firmware if on Exynos. Seems to hit battery life by 25% or more as android system goes from around 5% to 15-20% battery usage.

with newer firmware you mean the may update?
with me it was the other thing around, in the beginning it was quite good but now, its worse. is it because of the bright sunlight or the phone getting hot because it was around 30 degrees almost?
you see...screen on time about 2 hours
most active battery drainer, android itself
Only way for me to get 4 hrs of sot i have to plug in to charge and disconnect before i get to 90 cause then it seems to thing its fully charged and battery meter resets (on battery).

The thing is, I have disabled half of the system already, but it just feels like it's doing even worse than before so I'm leaning back on running stock again.
Yes original firmware much better battery than the update

It didn't work either to me , this is what I think , it may sound stupid but it could be the true cause , I think when you use an app like package disabler to disable things on your phone and then you accidentally touch to open the app or setting disabled the phone will think "what's going on here" why is this disabled? And it maybe tries to access/ open the package again and again causing it to actually drain battery !, You could a cache wipe , it worked for me , I follow all guides to extend battery life using package disabler, custom rom , flashing zips to delete bloatware but none of them worked for me , instead I went all stock ,and after installing the stock rom I did a factory reset and them the cache wipe, it worked flawless to me , the phone now works like a charm , no overheating (maybe I don't feel it because I got a case ) but the point is try to find your own solution , every s7 edge it's unic, maybe a simple reebok on your phone could resolve all of your problems , and a very important thing !!!!! If you flash a rom /kernel make sure you let your battery drain completely just once to calibrate it!
I wiped nothing, stock rom latest APD1 , aod off now but on sometimes , location on, sync on 3 emails, disabled a few things with ez package disabler. Browsed the net for all the time the screen was on, WiFi on while screen of and on for atleast 2 hrs while using line messenger and used Spotify for around 30 to 40 mins. This is sot and battery usage.
I don't know how u manage to get such bad battery life, swear u guys r fu#*ING about with sh%t too much, let it settle.

Great battery life , you can easily achieve 3 days of battery life and 8-9 hours of SOT I guess which is great for you , just consider yourself in the 5% of people that own a phone with no battery issues , I'm happy with my 8hours of SOT and I could achieve 3days like you just by using WiFi, I use LTE because it's faster were I live but remember that there are people so disappointed with their phones because they want to get the most out of their phones and just can't, may I ask if you are amazed with your battery life or do you own other device that beats the s7 on battery ?
I am amazed, it's as good as, if not better than my previous phone the z3, which was running a custom rom and kernel.
I do consider myself lucky to have the phone run so well right out the box.
Also when I said alot r fu#&ng around with their device, I meant roughly the same as you, I didn't mean to imply their problems r not actually there. I meant as u had said, changing roms, removing apps for new, disabling apps, not letting anything settle, wont give good results in battery life.

Holy smoke, 5+ hrs sot in half of battery. I've been trying to get more than 6 hrs for like a month now with different roms and optimizations, not even close..
I hate to be the voice of cynicism, but we do need to stop this stuff somewhere. The original post is utter nonsense. The suggestion that phones 'learn' your behaviour just simply isn’t how kernels work. There's a very small degree of 'learning' but power management is a very reactive process based on exactly what's happening. The only thing new apps change is what processes are running, and the kernel will instantly scale to do what it 'thinks' is right. Some managers will observe processes for a bit longer and react based on that - but we're talking hours at most, NOT days.
The only credit I'd give to this idea (which seems to be all over XDA for some reason) is that the first few days people use their new shiny phone a lot more than usual, and probably also more than they’d think. They also become far more aware of battery life and will even turn on the screen just to check battery life, which will obviously accumulate batery drain - so the bit about using your phone more is certainly true. But anything about Android being some sort of AI Neural Network app learning extraveganza that learns what you do over several days is (for the most (significant) part) wrong.
Think this is just descending into another battery thread and we have one here already

Hey guys,
I bought OP6 8/128 version and first, the battery life was ok, I was getting 4-5 hours of sot. Now, I see that battery is discharging in constant rate and something is keeping my phone awake all the time. Firstly I thought it was Instagram when it helped when I force stopped it. Now I'm lost 20 percent overnight and battery stats show, that all the time my device was awake. Cannot see anything suspicious through gsam or better battery stats as I believe the put it under android system. Help anyone?
Did you already do a reboot?

From personal experience, i found that updating OTA was the culprit. To get around this, download the full update from Oneplus and update that way.
Ever since i started doing this, I have not had the battery drain issues i used to have. Also, wipe cache before booting phone after update.

So I should try to do fresh install from OnePlus site? Awake time drops when I clear recent apps, so I believe this is either Instagram or Facebook doing this. Really weird. Even without awake time shown in graph, I got 35% drain in 1h sot and 11h standby, this shouldn't be normal, right?
It's crazy, because I used to have a good battery life

for testing, can you uninstall Instagram and Facebook for 1 day and see how your battery life changes.
I can tell you right now Instagram has a prefetch service which causes close to 1-2 hours of wakelock per day for me. I have root so I can disable it but there's no other way from the app itself.

You can just set the app to not use any background data from within Android. I have it on all that's not important for me.
Loose about 0.3% per hour without any apps or mods on beta 2.

So, the story continues... After following your advice and restricting background data for Instagram the wake up time fixed itself, however battery is still draining. Screenshots attached (facebook and time sensors used??)
I will test every available option and if they won't work, I would consider moving to beta oxygen os. Now I'm on 5.1.11
I am ready to trace this to it's roots for people who will potentially encounter this problem in the future.

It could be your spotty connection. Your awake time is fairly high when the mobile network connection goes south. Can you try using something like 3G instead and see if the awake time goes down? As well as the battery drain?
Naturally 3G uses less battery but if you see a drastic difference then it could be the tower connection you have. When the signal gets worse the modem tries harder and effectively uses more battery trying to stay connected.
Have a look if Facebook is allowed to use unlimited background data, I believe there is a setting for it on 5.1.11 aswell (I'm on beta, its a beast.)
There are many reasons not to install Facebook apps on your phone, and this is one of them.

Background data off both for Facebook and Instagram fixed (at least it seems) the overnight drain issue even with airplane mode on. Last time I lost 20-30%, tonight less than 4-5%
Just when I thought I found what was causing the drain, take a look at this: 20min sot and 20% down in 4.5h
Screens attached, still searching for the issue. Android battery stats show no awake time, but something is definitely draining (app usage insanely high on 80%)

So strange.. I feel we still have 3 options here.. 2 old and one new.
Flash 5.1.11 without wiping anything (you won't loose data so it's just an upgrade)
Flash beta 2 dirty as an upgrade, (you might get device corruptednat boot, press power 2 times and forget about the message) you won't loose any data or apps this way either.
Last option is the least fun, clean install of rom :/. If you ask me, I'd go for beta 2 option, if you wanna run something you know is stable go with 5.1.11.
I didn't run into any issues with beta 2 but some are (I believe user error here..)
Changed my mind.... I have 2 more posible fixes.. (I think)
Hmmm, one more thing I just came to think of is try using SD Maid, now this is just a guess that it will do anything at all..
The other thing is flashing a kernel, something could have happened there after an upgrade or something (just a guess.)
I'm running flash kernel now, it's really good

Thanks for your thoughts, thinking of going to beta 2 since I am on 5.1.11 right now. As for flashing kernel, I've been there with custom roms and kernels with several other phones and in the end most of them (except galaxy s5) were working better on stock ones after a while... However, doesn't rooting void the warranty on OP6?

Beta 2 is really good
48 hours and I'm at 18% with soon 9hrs of screen (usage and SS in battery thread)
As of warranty, no, you will still have full. However this shouldn't have to be done as a "fix" , i was just curious if stock kernel somehow got messed up :s

I would suggest doing a factory reset or uninstall your apps one at a time. Considering it's saying kernel wakelock (could be false positive) I would start go straight to factory reset. If going to Android Pie beta 2 is overall stable and forces a reset anyways, then go ahead and do that instead.
Im just getting 5-6hours SOT on my new op6, is this the normal battery life? Was planning on flashing custom kernels? Any suggestions?

So, I can close this case as SOLVED.
Today, phone was mainly on 4g, doing photos, videos, calls, 4 hours of spotify via bluetooth. 3h50min SOT, 16h standby and still 27% left. Dirty install of Beta 2 fixed it! Thanks for your help!
