Nice! Great! I Love u
It would be easy to restore the deleted contacts in iTunes or iCloud backup if you deleted them by mistake. But in this way, you are not allowed to recover the specific one you need but to restore the whole backup file. However, there is another better way to recover those deleted contacts, which is using the iPhone Data Recovery tool from FORecovery for help. It can assist you selectively recover the lost files even without any backup. Detailed introductions can be found in how to recover deleted contacts from iPhone.
Recover Deleted Contacts from iPhone
Find deleted contacts with iCloud if you have ever backed up before:
1. Go to iCloud official site and log in your iCloud account.
2. Click Contacts and see whether the contacts you need are visible here.
Restore iPhone contacts from iCloud:
1. Launch the Settings app on your iPhone. Tap on "iCloud" and see whether Contacts is turned on. If it's already on, turn it off.
2. Tap "Keep on My iPhone" when your iPhone asks what would you like to do with the previously synced iCloud contacts on your iPhone.
3. Then turn on Contacts again and tap "Merge". iPhone will take a little while to download your iCloud contacts.
For users who are not used to backing up iPhone with iCloud, to find a special tool to directly recover from iPhone may be a better choice, what I know about this type of tool is imyfone d-back, but I have not tried with this tool yet.
Can you do this in android?
I use WhatsApp on an iPhone X. I have chat history and media backed up on my iCloud. The total size of the backup is around 6 GB.
I had to send in the iPhone X for repair, and I’m using a temporarily loaned iPhone 6.
I restored the WhatsApp chat history from iCloud, but the iPhone 6 is a 16 GB variant. I’m unable to restore the media onto this phone since “system files” are around 11 GB. If I turn off iCloud Drive, it goes down to 7 GB but with that turned off, I can’t backup/restore WhatsApp. The only thing enabled in iCloud Drive is WhatsApp so I don’t know why it’s consuming 4GB on the phone when I haven’t restored media.
Is WhatsApp backup cumulative?
If I skip the media restore, and continue backing up the chat history, will I be able to restore the entire chat history and media on my iPhone X when I get it back? Will the media part of the backup be erased from iCloud if I skip media restore and do a chat history backup on the temporary phone?
Solution 1: The easiest way to transfer all the iPhone contacts to Android is by using an iOS to Android data transfer tool like PanFone Mobile Data Transfer. It gives you the ability to transfer all your data including photos, messages, call history, photos, videos and more from one device to another with a single click. This program is compatible with every leading Android and iPhone model. You can transfer your data from iPhone to Android and vice-versa. It supports the newest Samsung Galaxy S10, iPhone XS.
PanFone Mobile Data Transfer can offer other features as well. It can restore iTunes and iCloud data to devices conveniently as well as backup your phone data and restore later:
1. Transfer files between Android and iOS, including contacts, photos, music, SMS, and more.
2. Backup phone data and restore in lossless quality.
3. Recover iTunes/iCloud backup to iOS or Android devices.
4. Sync media files from iTunes Library to devices.
Solution 2: You can also choose to migrate your contacts from iPhone to Android without computer. You can also use your Google account to sync and transfer all your contacts from iPhone to Android phone.
Step 1: Go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Add Account under the Settings menu of your iPhone and tap on “Google”.
Step 2: Sign-in with your Google account and grant your phone the needed permissions to access your Gmail data.
Step 3: Now, you can go back to your Google account from here and turn on the sync option for “Contacts”.
Step 4: Once your contacts are synced with your Google account, you can easily access them on any Android device. You can use the Google Contacts app or simply use the same account to set up your device for auto-sync of contacts.
Just sync contacts with sim card and then move it to new Android device, it's the easiest and fastest way.
Also, you can use iCloud/iTunes/contact app to do this.
Also think a copy/clone app should suffice...
Did I hear that using the icloud.com option through pc and then later connect the android phone, do this works?
Using google contacts is probably the easiest option, especially if you want to keep your contacts in sync across multiple devices.

yes, that works for me.
Is there an open source software solution to export iphone contacts to a .vcf file? Getting stuck in the Apple ecosystem without using iCloud seems to be an impossible situation.
There is no way I've found that works without spending 20$ for a software. Please tell me there's a free and easy way to do this
all i can tell you from my recent experience is this seems impossible. The stupid ios doe not allow you to pull from any other place then android cloud, and the stupid android version can only pull from google cloud
the special softwares seem unable to this properly either, i tried and only got partial contacts and conversations
at the end i got tired of wasting time and money and went ahead with clean slate, as this seems to be done on purpose just to make the users slaves to the chosen system
what you can do on android at least is to export the chats to text, so it does not get totally lost
I think you could backup your chats. Go to Whatsapp>Settings>Chats>Chat Backup. Then when you sign in whatsapp on your iphone, you’ll get the option to restore backup. This might be worth a try. Hope this helps.
This is so stupid from WhatsApp. Apps like Telegram and Messenger have a way to store the chat in their servers and you can add whatever device you like. However, WhatsApp only works through iCloud storage or Google drive!! So its basically separated from Android to IOS or the opposite
You can try WhatsApp Backup to help you transfer whatsapp chat from Android to iOS like below:
Step 1: On your Android phone, go to: Settings > Chats > Chat backup > Backup to Google Drive > Backup.
Step 2: Once the backup is complete, you can back to: Settings > Chat settings > Backup conversations to check last backup. Then, Uninstall WhatsApp application from your Android phone.
Step 3: Download and install WhatsApp on your iPhone, and sign in with the same WhatsApp account on your iPhone.
Step 4: Choose Restore when a pop-up window reads "Message Backup Found".
Step 5: Wait until all backup messages of WhatsApp move from Android to iPhone.
Hope this will be your help.

This only works between android phones. It does not work between android and IPhone
It is still frustrating as hell. I wish there was a way to just manually replace the folder on IPhone storage

Unfortunately, you are correct. People posting here are promoting paid software
{Mod edit: Quoted post has been deleted}
So you are saying you can't transfer from IOS to Android but you CAN transfer from Android to IOS? - how (without paid app)?
Why do you comment if you don't have any clue about the topic? It takes a really time to read all tose bs. FYI:
1. WhatsApp Android backs up data ONLY to -> Google Drive (and restores backup ONLY from Google Drive)
2. WhatsApp iOS backs up data ONLY to -> iCloud (and restores backup ONLY from iCloud)
3. There are no other options to do this unnecessary/excessive Backup-Restore in WhatsApp other than points above.
4. There is no connection between iCloud and Google Drive in regards to switching backups..
5. Some crooks in WhatsApp are connected to paid software companies (corruption) and more than 6 years they delay this development, it stuck somewhere.
6. All those paid software have the same business process and similar prices.
7. There is only free way until now (except paid software) - it is a small app "Move to iOS:, which is introduced just recently. But it requires to factory reset iPhone before transferring data.

You are wrong.
WhatsApp now officially supports cross-platform chat transfers between iOS and Android
You no longer have to leave WhatsApp chats behind when switching ecosystems. WhatsApp had been testing transferring chat history between Android and iOS...

I did, and it seems to suggest that the site does now support importing of messages between the iOS and Android versions of the software. I don't believe that Dayuser needs to apologize (I assume that this is what you meant instead of "apologizes," which doesn't make any sense in this context, and certainly doesn't help your credibility) for pointing out your inaccuracy.

Let's try to avoid the name-calling, going forward.
Scenario: My Galaxy S8 died completely about a month ago, I got an iPhone - still getting used to it, spent incredible amount of time tuning and tweaking the settings.
Today I've noticed I still have the backup from my Galaxy S8 in my Google Drive account and it seems I still should be able to import that data to my new phone. There are some valuable information for me, especially contacts (in call history, not synced with Google), text messages, whatsapp messages etc.
I however don't have another Android phone to sync it and then somehow export it, also I probably won't be able to do it on my iPhone - I am logged in to that account but somehow can't find a way to import such data. (All of my Google synced contacts for example got imported automatically, but not the rest).
Is there a way to somehow manually download that backup data from Google Drive to PC and "unpack" it?
Thanks.

This might help if you can use the import option to import your backup directly from Google drive then transfer it to iOS. Or maybe you can transfer the backup from Google drive then use 7zip or similar software to extract the backup into its separate parts and import/transfer them from your PC to iOS.

The various tools in that software may help you but you may not be able to do it all in with "one shot", you may have to attack from different angles using more than one option, function or tool provided by this software.
Or, another possible option is to install an android emulator on your PC, install Android in it, then sign into your Google account in the android running in the emulator, restore the backup from Google drive in the Android running in the emulator then see if you can transfer the data from the emulated android to iOS
@TinoArts
take note that whenever you backup Android phone to Google, all your data is safely stored in an encrypted backup file over your Google Drive account.
