It will load and the buttons are cliakale, but the screen is just black and i cannot take a photo, odd or what?
The capture button can be pressed but nothing happens, kinda needed the camera lol
Any thoughts please?
Thanks
You need fix a permissions, better way use a program Rom Manager for it.
Nat that didn't work.
If you have removed some system .apk it can do that. After removing phone.apk my camera stopped working, putting it back fixed the camera.

Try switching to a lower resolution. There are problem with the 5MP, whilst 4MP works.

Turn off face and smile detection and try again, it should work. I had the same problem and it solved, I didn't have to do anything with the resolution.
Fallout 5.0
Hey guys,
I have similar problem with Fallout 5.0.0 on HTC Desire S.
1. Did a full wipe.
2. Installed the ROM Fallout 5.0.0
3. I was able to take pictures with the camera but as soon as I switch to recording. The camera won't respond to anything flash menu, camera menu, won't even let me switch back to picture taking, the view is proper I see everything what camera sees but it won't respond. In order to be able to take pictures I have to restart my phone. But if I press on recording again the camera will switch to recording and won't respond. Won't be able to turn it off, only press home and task kill the camera.

Have you tried a lower resolution for recording? Does it work?
Hi! I had these camera issues on my Nexus S i9020xxkl1 for a quite a long time now. Hopefully someone knows how to fix this.
#1: My front camera is showing on landscape mode, even though I'm holding it right (portrait). the buttons are showing on portrait too. its just that the camera preview is on landscape!
#2: On my rear camera, when I press the record button to take a video, the camera app crashes and shows "unfortunately, gallery has stopped".
I almost tried everything from wiping, return to stock etc. Now I'm on stock 4.0.4. thank you!

I believe that you have a software problem..and the easiest way for you is to reinstall a new software (ROM). You can find it in this site in the right topic. You follow the indications and maybe you fix your problem.
Make a backup of your data/apps/images/contacts/etc & enjoy your new phone

Try a kitkat rom. It's at least 3x faster than ICS and has a good chance to fix your problem.

Hi,
I have a HTC One E8 dual sim. The current firmware is 4.4.2.
I am facing issues with the video camera. Whenever i try to take a video, and click on the video camera button, there is just a blip on the screen but the video capture doesn't start. Even if i press the button again and again, the same thing happens. If i restart my phone, and then try to capture a video, it captures the video fine. But some time after the restart if i again go to the camera and switch to video camera and try to record, nothing happens.
Can anyone help me out with this issue?

Check in the video settings to see where they are being stored. In case its storing on the SD Card, it might be an issue with the card itself
Hi,
It is getting saved in the SD card, but i have recently installed a new SD card and the issue remains the same.
I tried changing the default save location to phone memory, but the issue remains.

Thanks, I had same problem and it started working after I turned off voice detection from any screen.
Although the icon is there and can be activated (highlighted), the motion photo function doesn't work. I tried, resetting camera and gallery apps, rebooting the system, ect. All in vain, any ideas?
