Z3 Tmobile: Is it supposed to be stereo front facing speakers? - Xperia Z3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

The top speaker does not produce sound, only the bottom. I thought the phone was stereo or do I have a faulty one?

Probably faulty.

Is that happening for both notifications/ringtones as well as music? It's designed to only use the bottom speaker for notifications, but if you're listening to an MP3 and it's still only using the bottom, then there's an issue.

Just as people above said - if you're using Walkman, the top speaker should produce sound. If it doesn't - get it inspected.

Get a new replacement you got a faulty unit, you have 14 days remorse period.

[Q] Speakers ... or speaker ?! :P

Hi gurus,
my N5 pumps quite a low volume from the speaker... In particular, looking at the screen, the bottom left grill gives a reasonable output while the right... really low volume. I was thinking about RMA when googling, I found an article which states that:
- there's no left and right speaker on N5, just one speaker
- left grill is for the speaker, while right one is for the microphone.
If so, then my N5 is absolutely "normal". Could anyone confirm that the left grill returns significantly a louder sound ?
Thanks in advance
Just tried what you describe same result my left speaker plays louder

So... I assume that different sound volume from the two grids should be considered normal... not a defect.

There is only 1 speaker. Any sound you're perceiving from the other grill is purely leaked sound.
At this point, I thought everyone knew this. Mostly all phones on the market work this way: The G2, the iPhone line, etc...HTC One is one of the only phones that have multiple speakers.

[Q] Xperia Z3 stereo audio glitch

I noticed that the lower speaker produces a much lower audio than the upper speakers, is normal? Someone told me that is normal because the lower speaker acts like a tweeter for the upper speaker, but I found this not true as the upper speakers has more low, mid and high sounds than the lower spekear, he also told me that this answer was provided by Sony. Can you test this?

Top should be a bit deeper, if you have big difference probably bottom speaker is not ok...
Have you made it wet recently? If one of the speakers ha been exposed to water recently, it has to dry off completely before performing as it should. Another cause might be the accumulation of dirt in the speaker grills, which prevents it from vibrating properly. In the latter case, soak it in water and rinse off.
I have the same problem with mines...seems that the right channel (lower speaker) is in fact significantly softer...causing me to miss a lot of calls since only the right channel speaker is used during incoming call ringtone

Bottom speaker not as loud as top one?

Has anyone noticed that the bottom speaker volume is lower than the top one (ear peace) when playing music? or is it only me?
I did not notice it before because I always use headsets but today I spilled some juice on it and washed it under the sink water after that I played some music just to see what's up and noticed this uneven volume coming out from both speakers. I will let it dry and see if it was the cause but has anyone else noticed that?
And if you are talking on the phone using speakers only bottom one works. Is it normal?
Yes they are different but I think it's intentional because not only is the volume different, but they each put out different kinds of sound if you notice.

Yeah I did notice the output of the sound is different from each speaker. I already thought I have faulty unit and wanted to return it but now you saved my worry <3 Thank you.
I wouldn't say that it's intentional as if Sony wanted both speakers to be different. It's normal though and to be expected because the speakers aren't identical. The top speaker is of higher quality.

I just wanted to know if I am not the only one with such situation. As I mentioned before I did not notice it until I used it. Thank you for replying.

Is stereo sound possible?

I was wondering... is RN7P able to output stereo sound? If you go to CIT (settings->my device->all specs and tap kernel version 5 times) and choose test number 12 ( play music by receiver), you can hear music coming from... well the receiver (earpiece). It is loud enough, although not as loud as a main speaker, to hear it at normal volume levels. So does anyone have any idea/experience about the possibility of enabling stereo sound with a mod or something? My last phone did have stereo sound, and the sound from the earpiece was a little quieter than the main speaker, just like in this case.

Hi,
I copy here a question posted on another post (sorry, i'm quite busy, can type a new question here)
-.-.-.-.-.-.-
Hi,
I just installed the global rom miui_VIOLETINGlobal_V10.2.8.0.PFHINXM_997265e49a_9 .0.zip on my brand new RN7PRO china 6/128. No problem for the installation but, I found out that only the right speaker is working under all condition. I tried with MP3, Games, youtube, and other audio files.
Now, I don't know if depend on the rom installed or is a device that is expecting to work like this.
Anyone can tell me if both or only one speaker is working??
The phone has only one main speaker (on the bottom side, to the right of the usb port when you are looking at the screen), if that i what you mean.

Thanks, mate!!!!
that's was exactly what I was looking for! :cyclops:
I will look into your question and see if I found something.
Thanks, again
PS: So, the other "holes" that look like a speaker on the left side of the USB looking the screen...what is it?? very big microphone??
The holes are there for aesthetic reason, to preserve the symmetry of the device.

Yes, the holes on the left side is for the microphone.
Like other said, they design it symmetrically for aesthetic reason.

Audio jack on the bottom it's better.

Is there a way to turn off stereo speakers and use jsut the bottom one?

Hey!
I've just bought second-hand OP7 Pro, everything is fine except that ear speaker makes very unclean sound. It's very fine when making calls, but when I want to listen to some music, it's awful cracking sound. When I cover the upper speaker with my fingers, its so good, I'm satisfied with the bottom mono speaker. Is there a way (mod?) to disable the ear speaker? Or do you know what may cause this?
Cheers!
Try Settings-system-accessibility. There should be a balance and mono audio option. Tell me is it works.

Stereo to mono doesn't mean it will disable one of your speakers. It means only it will convert stereo audio to mono audio but the top speaker will be still enabled.
In accesibility I've changed to mono and made slider all to right, which worked! Only bottom speaker plays right now. I would be absolutely satisfied with that, but... Whenever I use bluetooth earphones, the right one is the only active (obviously). I need to change it in accesibility every time i switch between speakers and earphones. Is there any way to automatize that?
EDIT: I know, that it can be made with Tasker, but I will never figure how to make such a thing.
I have the same issue on my OnePlus 7.
It started when I suddenly noticed low volume on the earpiece speaker when calling a few days ago. I believe that has become better again but when listening to music it just sounds harsh.
I'm wondering if it is because of the recent update or maybe cuz I dropped it but it's not cracked or whatever and I don't think it immediately occurred after I lasted dropped it. (Also using a Spigen Tough Armor with glass screen protector so I doubt it's because I dropped it)
I can't find anything about disabling the earpiece speaker for stereo sound except for the accessibility settings. Where you able to find another solution?

Best fix is to just replace it.
Look at a tear down of the phone to see how buried it is or isn't. The piezo driver it's self is cheap.
