[Q] Download xml from server and save retrieved data in local sql table - General Questions and Answers

Hi, I am building an app that will download xml file from server, retrieve the data(values, etc) and store that data in local sql table. I will only update xml file and the app will download it and update the table.
The problem I am facing is: What or Which kind of server do I need for this to work?
The Flickr provides api key and methods to retrieve its xml file which contains links of photos. I can download that xml file from its server and retrieve the values in it and save it in local sql. But this xml file is of Flickr's and not mine.
Which servers provides the similar functionality? Does Google provides it?
Please help me with this. I am new to android programming and I really don't know how to get this work done.
Thanks

[Q] How hard would it be to create an app that sends files (pdf, doc, xls) to android

Via a button or something. Say you had to search for something on windows remotely. Then upon finding it, you need to edit that one file. But remoting in and editing doesnt always work well. But if you could send the file (via wifi?) and open it with an Android app, then it could be easier and more manageable. Sorta like chrome to phone, but for files...
It's something that already exists. You have to root your device and then set up a Samba file sharing server, then you can push files from Windows/Linux/Mac onto your Samba share where you can then edit them.
Or, you can use cloud-based services like Google Docs, Dropbox, etc.

[Q] GPS/GPX logger output files

Hi,
I have been trying to use convert the log file from GPS/GPX viewer but find that the GPX file contains no data and the .csv file is unusually formatted.
Does anyone know what format the .csv file is or why the GPX file only contains a few headers and an XML markup but no data. I was not permitted to include the URLs or data.
The csv file contains the data but specifies it in an unusual manner for example:
Latitude and Logitude are specified as 6 9.90E+13
Does anyone know how to make sense of the data? It is reported fine on screen.
Ideally I would like to know how to convert the data with GPS Babel.
Thanks!
Hi there,
Did you ever get this sorted? I have what looks likeempty GX files.
Cheers

Freela API existing app. I pay!

Hello i really like your app, but i need function that app take database from server via internet, because i will update database ones per day and i need that database updated without updating whole app. Is that possible?
This app does not use server API for loading data. POI are loaded from local SQLite database so you don’t need any server. We would like to create add-on for REST API .
I pay!

Fileseal currently supports Dropbox and Google Drive. We may add more depending on number of requests.
Just a quick update, someone just send us email asking why we need full network access, it is actually a good question, and we would like to clarify here as well.
Network access is used for synchronization of encrypted files with cloud storages, and for serving ads.
If upgraded to premium, as no ad would be served, the only network access would be for syncing files.
Nothing more than these.
More questions are welcomed, we would be adding these to our FAQ.

Hi,
I tried fileseal today because it seemed exactly like what I needed: Upload encrypted files to GDrive.
But it skips files bigger than 10mb and it apparently deleted the files that it uploaded. Or does it copy the files somewhere after they are encrypted.
-Is there an option to tell fileseal that all files, regardless of size should be encrypted and uploaded?
-Why where my files deleted or moved?
-I would like to still access the files with a normal file manager or photo app. Should I therefore have the files in two folders? One unsynced and unencrypted folder and one encrypted and synced folder?
Thanks!
I guess this project is dead?

How to restore sms messages from .db or .html or .csv or.xml

Hi all, I recently broke my phone but luckily I recovered the data. I stil have a problem with the sms. The technician sent me sole files in .html and .db format. If I open the html, the text messages are shown correctly. The problem is that I need an app or a way to transfer this content into the sms app of the phone. I tried a lot of recover apps and also tried to convert into xml or csv but nothing change.
do anyone knows how to solve this problem? Anyone had the same situation solved?
thanks in advance
up
anyone knows?
If the dB you are sent is the actual dB that stores the SMSM/MMS data, you can do an insert from the source dB into the "live" dB.
something along the lines of attaching the source dB to the dest, dB then insert (using SQL) across the dB's.
I don't know how to, I think just changing the name the db file is the same as the live file. But I don't know hot to replace that
Could be tricky... but I don't know how to.
