Custom ROMs Boot to White Screen With HTC Logo - Verizon HTC One (M8)

Hello all! This is my first post on XDA, so hopefully I don't screw anything up
Anywho, I have a rooted Verizon HTC One (M8) that I was running CyanogenMod on up until recently when I wanted to switch back to a ROM based on HTC Sense. I ended up finding the Android Revolution HD mod for the M8 and decided to give it a try. I flashed my firmware to 3.28.401.7 as that was the one listed on the post, and installed it using TWRP. The device booted, I left it alone, but for some reason it would show a lock screen (that would only let me swipe up) and after I would unlock it all that would be shown was the HTC logo over a white background, with the home and back buttons lit up. Thinking that maybe I goofed, I kept trying again. Eventually I gave up on Android Revolution and decided to try the ViperOne mod, and it ended up doing the same exact thing. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks for your time, and any help is greatly appreciated!
Regards,
Nate

X.X.401.X firmware is for Europe. UK variants. You should not be flashing firmware to your vzw one like that. Flash back to stock vzw firmware.

Ahhh okay, thanks! So, how limited do the options for flashing ROMs become for the One? Also, once I revert back to stock firmware, will I be able to retry one of the ROMs that I tried previously, or will the stock vzw firmware not be compliant? I apologize for any super nooby questions, this is my first system dealing with root stuff (as I had an iPhone previously so I used jailbreak items)

Just stick to the roms from the M8 VZW Development forum and you'll be fine. Viper is there, NuSense, CleanROM and many more...

[Q] Rooting Inspire 4G with HTC update.

I wanted try the update and same time get my eng-S back on. I followed the return to stock method to get my phone back to the factory state with s-on and successfully got the update. My question is, now will any versions of the ace-hack-kit work on my updated phone to root, s-off and sim-unlock again if I so wished? I only ask because I am not very happy with the battery usage on the stock rom. I did wanted to get rid of the eng-s off because of all the warnings but I didn't think about going back to my rooted and unlocked state when I updated (that was sort of foolish of me).
You're basically back where you started. To re-root, you'll need to downgrade the ROM so you'll lose anything you got from the update anyway.
attn1 has already posted a rooted version of the new update here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1058042) so flashing this ROM will give you everything from the update with root
Or root it yourself using Gingerbreak (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1057104)
I have not tried either of these, but both threads are reporting good things. A little search goes a long way
I need to go back to stock actually, and from all the "stock" roms I've seen they are all cingular based. When I got the phone it said nothing about Cingular splash screens or whatever. it was all ATT screens and I cannot for the life of me find that specific stock rom for my Inspire.

[Q] stuck please help!

I have searched and searched and have not been able to find exactly what I am looking for.
I have an HTC One S on the Rogers network in Canada. It was originally a Fido phone but worked fine on Rogers without unlocking or rooting...?
I rooted it and installed CWM and it was working great.
I decided to try to flash the jellybean rom and thats when things went screwy.
I pushed some things in recovery and as embarrassing as it is I cant tell you exactly what I pushed but I can no longer get to the CWM recovery. I am stuck in the white bootloader screen.
It now says tampered relocked security warning.
Heres the thing. I have tried everything I have found online and nothing.
I think I should be trying to flash the stock ROM but I cant find one that is for a One S on the rogers network.
I have downloaded everything from the drivers, SDK, ROM's, hasoons all in one...adb, and so on and so on.
If anyone can help get this thing working I will paypal you some cash!
Thanks in advance!
Tom
are you sure you have the s4 version and not the s3? that could be your issue. what does the model number on the box say?
how do i know what model it is?
on the box it says Z520m, Android with HTC Sense
that's the s4. you could try to flash the tmous stock ruu, but idk if your going to find the exact rom you're looking for. i used this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1648526&highlight=stock+duo when i first started flashing because it is completely stock, just optimized for better battery life and faster processes

[Q] Why is my HTC One x (PROTOTYPE) stuck on ICS?

Why is my HTC One x (PROTOTYPE) stuck on ICS?
Hey guys, This is my first post ever on XDA so please forgive me if I sound like an idiot
I got hold of a HTC One x which was already had an unlocked bootloader, rooted and had CWM recovery installed. I was told that I have a prototype version of the one x. Anyway that is not issue. when I got the phone it was running android version 4.0.4 HTC Sense version 4.1 and I checked software update. The 3.14.401.27 OTA update was available so I proceeded with the update and after the reboot I found my phone stuck in a bootloop and the only way for me to sort it out was by restoring my nand back up from CWM. I really wanted the new Sense 5 UI and android jelly bean so I downloaded:
RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_JB_45_S_hTC_Asia_TW_3.14.709.20_Rad io_5.1204.162.29_release_292865_signed.exe
My CID was HTC__621 thats why I downloaded that ruu but after flashing it not was I only stuck in a bootloop but also when I entered recovery mode it was just a blank black screen with the back lights on. I even flashed different versions of CWM recovery and TWRP which gave me the same black screen so I flashed the stock recovery.img which also gave me the same black screen. I thought me maybe a different Ruu would resolve this issue so I used 'JBFWTOOL21' to change my CID to '11111111' this allowed me to flash:
RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_JB_45_S_HTC_Europe_3.14.401.27_Radi o_5.1204.162.29_release_298897_signed.exe
&
RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_JB_45_S_HTC_Europe_3.14.401.31_R_Ra dio_5.1204.162.29_release_302015_signed.exe
After trying both these ruu's I still found my device stuck in a bootloop. Next I downloaded 'Endeavoru_CustomRUU' this contained a 'rom.zip' which I belive was a jelly bean rom and said it would update my image version to '3.14.401.31' after flashing this ruu, my phone booted up past the 'HTC Quietly Brilliant' screen but into a black screen but I could hear the boot sound and knew it booted up but it still gave me a black screen. barre in mind this was the only rom that booted up and didn't get stuck in a bootloop but the downside was I had no picture on the screen it was literally pitch black with the backlight on when it went past the 'HTC Quietly Brilliant' boot screen. I didn't even see the one x boot animation. I could only hear the boot up sound and once it was booted up the notification LED would flash I was receiving network settings from my operator. That was about it. I booted into recovery to see wether that worked but unfortunatelly it was also still giving me a black screen. The only thing I could boot into without a problem was 'power button + volume down' which booted into bootloader in which I chose 'fastboot' to flash all these roms.
At this point I thought my device was soft bricked so I gave it to my friends father who happened to really good with his IT skills. He managed to change my device's CID from 'HTC__621' to 'HTC__001' after doing so he downloaded this ruu and flashed it:
RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_S_HTC_Europe_2.17.401.2_Radi o_2.1204.135.20_release_274900_signed.exe
This ruu turned out to work perfectly fine with my device. Everything functioned once again, the device was able to boot into recovery and boot normally without a hassle. I also discovered that this was the rom that I received my phone with which put me back to the start on android 4.0.4
I was really annoyed with the fact that I was stuck on ICS so I flashed the MaximusHD 21.1.0 rom and its boot.img which put me into a bootloop again. I also tried other custom roms such as Revolution and SD secxces which all put my phone in a bootloop even though I flashed their boot.img kernels. I knew that I required a hboot 1.33.0000 or above in order to flash jb roms so I used 'JBFWTOOL21' once again before flashing these custom roms to update my hboot from 1.12.0000 to 1.33.0000. so all these bootloops still occourd after doing all this and I just had to return back to ICS. barre in mind I only tried flashing JB roms as I want sense 5 so I don't know if a custom ics rom would work on my device as I havent tried it yet but I know for a full fact that none of the jb roms work on my device.
For those who are wondering here, I uploaded some pictures of my device just check the attachments. It has all the information you may want to know about my device (HTC One X PROTOTYPE).
I really hope someone can help me update to jelly bean and get sense 5 as I am frustrated from failing and being stuck in bootloops
If you read all of this I honestly appreciate it and Thank you for it, I hope you can help me!

[Q] [Help] getting my Inspire 4G back to stock

I had a ATT inspire 4G running on android 2.2
I rooted and installed CWS with easy ace root. worked perfectly
then following another guide I found, I tried to flash update-aospX-1.0.0-AR26-DesireHD-signed using recovery.
But my phone was stuck on the white HTC screen and didn't go anywhere. Trying to solve this issue I wiped everything with recovery and flashed this: GizRoot_v_2 (1) which I found on this forum as a rom made similar to the stock rom. this worked and now phone was good but the guide did say to change the radio.
I tried to update my radio via hboot with sd card, but it always got stuck on the installing part and never finished. After researching it the problem was that I am still S-ON and you cant change radios while S-on?
I have spent 4+ hours googling and researching I have about 12 tabs open with different guides. I am very frustrated at this point
I Have a inspire 4g phone that works but the radio doesn't work. 1st it would connect to the movil network of the carrier but the wifi did work. I changed the simcard to another provider and it did work calls were made and internet data worked. but now wifi doesn't work!
I would like to have the phone back to factory setting and stock att rom. how can I do this, I used a RUU exe, but it always said error connecting to the phone. the RUU is RUU_Ace_Cingular_US_1.80.502.3_Radio_12.39.60.19_26.06.04.06_M_release_166557_signed
or maybe I am doing it wrong?
help please
edit: I booted phone to fastrecovery usb and ran the RUU.exe again, this time it went all the way to wiping and sending then it said an unknown error occurred right after updating signature and sent me to error recovery step 0, followed prompts but nothing worked
Flash boot.img from fastboot. Read the Ace Think Tank in Desire HD General for details.
steps
Ok
So.
I booted into recovery, wiped data and factory reset, wiped cache partition, wiped dalvik cache
installed from sd card update-aospX-1.0.0-AR30-DesireHD-signed. rebooted device into fastboot, connected usb cable.
downloaded android-win-tools and extracted into one folder. I also extracted the boot.img from update-aospX-1.0.0-AR30-DesireHD-signed into the same folder.
I opened a cmd window, went to said directory. typed fastboot.exe then fastboot devices. my device is there, then I did fastboot flash boot boot.img sending boot, writing boot ok.. did fastboot reboot...
and HOLY **** IT WORKS...
I still have to test wifi gps calls etc
EDIT: WIFI WORKS, GPS WORKS BLUETOOTH TOOK A WHILE TO TURN ON BUT WORKS, and calls work! camera works yey!
MIUI on Inspire 4G
Hi,
I need something like that too.
I bought my phone from USA in 2011, Android 2,2, i think, and with MIUI on it, locked on AT&T and I use it in Europe.
I unlocked it here in Europe and everything was fine.
So, the phone started work slow and after 2 years of use it I didn't receive any system update. My husband bought one same model, no MIUI on it, but HTC Sense I think, AT&T locked, unlocked here, but he received the system update and worked fine.
Now, in my silly thinking, I started to look for update on Internet and I saw that the Android is already 4.2. and I have 2.2. And I said, man, that's why is not working so well.
So, I upgraded my phone to Android 4.2.2 JDQ39E - the most stupid thing I could do. Starting that day, my phone is freezing non-stop, it restarted itself while I am talking on the phone. The apps are not working well, are freezing often. I read on AT&T website that for my model, the last Android is not 4.2.2 at all, but it was too late.
I found out how to upgrade the MIUI and I did it. This is ok, but this MIUI it makes me cray. I don't like it at all.
I WANT TO GET RID OF MIUI AND PUT SOMETHING ELSE INSTEAD OF IT. And put the normal Android system that my phone support it well.
HOW I CAN DO THAT?
Please help me with some advices before I will creat a new model: HTC Inspire 4G smashed.
Thank you so much.

Uh mate, It's best to go back to Stock Roms for that. And Everytime you guys go upgrading and degrading Roms, It's best to make a backup image with Nandroid.
Easiest way to go back to stock is find the proper RUU's for your phone.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1385016
Pick one of these, Download the RUU, Plug in your phone and Let the App do it's magic.
And take note, It's going back to the STOCK.
After that, Use the AAHK tool or search around the forums to unlock and S-Off.
Good luck.
Thank you!

Building and installing ROMs for HTC

Hi, please let me know if this should me moved to another section.
I am coming from Samsung phones, and building and installing ROMs for them. I got an HTC A9 a while back and I am having cyanogenmod withdrawals lol. I have the Sprint model so there doesn't seem to be any compatible builds, please let me know if I am wrong.
So basically I am breaking my dev shoes back out and going to attempt to build a CM ROM for the Sprint A9, but some things around still confuse me for HTC. I already have S-Off and unlocked bootloader, running a rooted stock image. But I am not sure I fully understand this RUU stuff? Also, if anyone else could fill in the blanks for me regarding differences between working with samsung vs htc. I already know you can't use Odin, that was one thing I really hated about samsung anyway, I am far more comfortable using fastboot lol. But any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks!

I don't know much about the differences between dev'ing for HTC/Samsung, but an R.U.U is a Rom Update Utility, it includes 100% stock Rom, firmware, radios, etc. Flashing it will wipe ALL data on device (internal/SD card ) as well, so back Up any saved pics/data

So I got a flashable CM image, but it boot loops and I think I need to work on the kernel since I was using the one from hiaeul and I need hiaewhl. I pulled the sources from HTC and will start on that, but I have a question. Does anybody know what causes the "This build is for development purposes only" message?
I don't have the message on the stock rooted rom, but the message popped up after flashing CM, and coincidentally is where it bootloops at. I thought this pops up once you unlock the bootloader, but I haven't seen it until now.

It's built into the hboot/boot loader. Only way to change it is to hex edit the boot, which is risky. All HTC phones get that red msg after flashing (I forget exactly what causes it, I think custom boot.img, kernel, or something like that)
Sent from my HTC One A9 using XDA Labs
I could be wrong...but i remember only getting that red message about build being dev purposes only...when i was flashing or attempting to flash a different firmware meant originally for international handset versions after changing my CID/MID. It has been awhile since those days when i first got the A9 and nearly bricked it but i think that was the cause. If so, perhaps its the boot or kernel that is the issue? I also came from Samsung to HTC and it was quite the learning curve. ONly differences ive seen is...well...everything lol. Using RUUs, flashing via fastboot/adb sans odin, encryption of the internal memory, S-on/S-off and unlocking the bootloader. I am sure you know all these as well lol but just mean in general its a real b*tch working with this handset and it is picky on little things like specific order of events like flashing order......if you have several things to flash ive seen it mess up from just one part out of sequence when flashing. Anyhoo, still pretty new on a lot myself so I could be off but its what ive experienced so far. Good luck though and Ill be looking out your results for sure.
