show E/H/H+/3g/4g symbols - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

As the topic, is it possible the show the networksymbol instead for just the R for roaming? Currently running 5.0...

No. If you're roaming, that's the only icon you get. You will only get normal icons when you're in your own.country

Is it possible to get a separate icon like samsung?

It probably would be possible but it would need rewriting at source code level and compiling, which would take a fair bit of knowledge and effort.
It will tell you in about phone > status though

Okey, i know that. Is there a mod for that? Im rooted

You simply need to edit your build.prop and add the line qemu.hw.mainkeys=0. You can use any good editor in Android to do that, or Build.prop Editor.

You can also go one step or two further by disabling the backlight on the keys at the bottom AND even disabling them completely (nothing happens when pressed).
Disabling the lights will need a custom kernel however.
How can I disable the keys completly? I'm on cm 10.1.

Once again, for them not to light up, it's necessary you have a kernel that supports BLD.

I'm looking for an easy way to do this, maybe i'll flash the simple kernel for this purpose.
I'm doing this cause my softkeys are not properly functioning, most of the time there are only 2 of 4 visible, and my warranty is expired.
The navigation bar can be a good alternative i think!!

Not a big fan myself, the Nexus S is rather "small" for today's standards and the navigation bar takes quite a bit of estate. But working around your problem without wanting to physically repair it, I believe that works.

Unfortunately i have to agree, i don't like that solution too, cause the screen gets smaller than it's real size.
But to be honest i do prefer to apply a "patch" like this more than paying half the value of a 3 years old device to repair it...
I'll also try to flash a kernel with the bln mod and see if i can get used to use the device with no navbar and no softkeys light.
Thanks for your help!! :good:
Searching on the forum i found that should also be possible to decrease the navbar height!!
it would be great, but i saw the procedure, and i'll never be able to do it ... :S

Two OS features are missing in S6!!

I have the phone for two days now, but I noticed that unlike GS4 and GS5, GS6 is missing these two important features!
there is no "answer vibration" feature , so if someone answer my call I can't let the device vibrate!
you can't put a "direct call" icon in the desktop! now you can put contact icon, then after clicking it will take you to the contact page for that person!
Anyone, is this the case with you? anyone know how to solve it?!
Go into the dialer settings and under call alerts you'll find what you're looking for.

Don't think it's Samsung. Looks like Google removed the shortcuts for the direct call, email, sms, etc... In lollipop from what I can find. I been searching and not much info on the web about this, guess me and you the few that used that feature.
Sent from my SM-G900T using AllianceR(●)m
it might be, but I used Lollipop in my GS5 and the feature was there!
I am most annoyed about the vibration thing! I even flashed a German ROM in my mobile but the vibrate on answer feature didn't show up! :crying:
Don't think it's the Os it's the phone model ID and product ID , if it's that important change it to a us variant, might not boot though

Direct call is different from a shortcut. With direct call you click the icon and it calls the assigned person. With the shortcut as in the screen you posted, it takes you to the contacts page, where you then call text etc...
Thanks though

Thank you for your answer, this feature is important to me. I tired to install the T-Mobil US ROM. but it failed with Odin! I guess because my phone is G920F. and the T-Mobil pone is G920I.
For the second point, I agree with tenxo. Galaxy phones used to have direct calls.

don't try to flash a different rom since they are different kernel and boorloader. You are going to damage your device...

thanks, but I wish there is a solution for not vibrating on answer
I have GS6 Edge Middle East edition
I have the same problem as yours no call alerts option
I really miss the vibrating feature after answering
I have the European S6 Edge - no call alert settings as well. I would like to remove the call connect tone and enable vibrate on answer. Hope Samsung will add this with the next updates.

This ROM is what you're looking for: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...-xtrestolite-pure-edition-1-0-beta-1-t3082467
Now I can't tell you if this ROM will work on your phone, but it has the option to turn on Vibrate on Call. This ROM is also a "LITE" rom, so it de-bloats alot of things. So read carefully, and ask questions BEFORE you flash.

I don't use the ROM (I haven't rooted yet--waiting/hoping of a way to root without tripping KNOX), but I wanted to read about it and that Vibrate on Calls caught my eye because I remember someone asking about that feature. So I came back here to tell you about it. I'm T-Mobile US, so I already have that feature OTB. Weird some don't have that simple feature. Odd. But you're welcome, and good luck!
EDIT: WOW... You've been here since 2010, and you only have 12 posts! How does that happen? You passed 100% of your old posts count in just a week! Lol

Unknown icon on status bar

Hi!
I recently got a new icon on my Samsung S7 status bar. The last thing i did was flash a CSC, portugal unbranded. Its related to my mobile data usage. If I enable mobile data it appears, and if i disable it it disappears. Ive also included a little screenshot.
If any of you know a way to disable this icon or what its there for, please let me know! Thanks in advance.

Thanks. Speaking of which, is there another ROM available for my j727vl (sky pro) one? This sub forum is a little unorganized. Maybe the question is has this phone been rooted? (?). Technically I don't know so much how these things work, but I know if I can get this thing rooted I can possibly get wifi hotspot working on it which would be super fantastic. Might you know? Thanks

picky picky!! its only been a year since the thread started, why throw me under a moving bus?
anyways, if youre not rooted, good luck. There is an app from samsung themselves called "good lock" it allows you to customize your notif bar in ways that only root would otherwise be able to. You might also benefit from flashing the CSC from your carrier on the phone. Just the CSC tho, nothing else would necessarily need to be flashed. Why would someone want the name of the carrier displayed? Im not doggin ya in any way, shape or form, just curious.
Finding if I am in my home network while traveling near the border to avoid roaming charges would be one of the reasons.
Will have to find some app solution then.
