It puts the device to sleep after the case has been closed, similar to the iPad 2's magic case, but this app uses the light sensor to detect the amount of light after you close the case.

Not necessarily. You can configure the light sensitivity in the full version, and you can also use other sensors (such as proximity and accelerometer) to activate sleep

Somewhat. The light sensor is weak so I have to turn on accelerometer sensing and shake the crap out of it to get into lockscreen. But I am unrooted and it says it needs root to work perfectly, so I'm going to root and try again

If LightManager works perfectly then what are you looking for in Light Flow? I'm using LightManager to control what color the notification light is for each different type of notification. If that's all you want to do then stick with what works.

Light Flow works for the most part for me.
Only sometimes after SMS gets dismissed, notification seems to keep blinking, though may be a GO SMS thing, not reproduced it consistently enough yet.
I use this to set it up http://www.folioflow.com/ff/page/website/lightflow/pageId/2349
Lightflow worked perfectly on my Nexus 4 but on my 5 it's a little buggy. With the last update a couple days ago it's running much better though. I know the dev is working hard on getting all the bugs worked out and he's getting close. I'm using the paid version and I would recommend it because the developer is very responsive on a few of these threads and is actively working on making it better.

Is there a app that doesn't lock the screen when the display turns off, I find it a bit annoying on android to turn on the phone, on symbian I just had to press any key to turn on the display without unlocking it, and lock it only using the lock key.
I prefer a app like LG G2's Knock On.

theres a kernel here what does what you want ,well i think it does
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2565299
I don't want to upgrade to a CFW now. I prefer enjoying rhe phone on stock than to deal with minor hindrances which ruin the experience on a CFW, like the camera bug mentioned in the thread you quoted to.

You're out of luck then unfortunately, custom kernel is the only thing that offers it right now.

Such a basic thing that symbian had but android doesn't, I am disappointed with Google.

Thanks for the apps but with both the apps the phone gets locked after the screen turns off, I wanted a app that turns off the autolock of phone and just turns off the screen to save power. So I can press any key on the phone to see the screen without unlocking it each time.

I can press any key except the volume rockers which leaves the obvious power button and the home button will turn my screen on and with no lock screen it does what you want it to.

Why don't you wanna use power button?
If custom kernels are available yet then grab yourself one with touch to wake...
I'm pretty sure that your device has nfc..... You can use xposed and some nfc unlocking apps available here or on Google play....
And the most best one! Plug in you headset or charger and you device will wake up! No root no hastle or any additional app needed!

Why don't you want to use your power button?
Anyway , there are some custom ROMs that allow you to wake the phone up by pressing the volume buttons.
and there are some custom kernels available to wake your phone up by swiping over the buttons. this feature is called Sweep2Wake (S2W) .
But if you don't want to use custom ROMs/Kernels on your phone then you can try using some apps that wake your phone up by using your proximity sensors or light sensors. But this kind of apps will most likely drain your battery,
So if you don't want to root your phone and unlock it then just stick to using the power button !
Please press the thanks button if i helped !

Well, nfc is Near Field Communication. Unlocking your device with this technique just looks much more awesome. Just buy some nfc tags and configure to use them, swipe your phone over them and your phone wakes up!
Just search nfc unlocker or similar on google play store and the app would guide you for the next steps.
In my device, i have some special mods available which would turn the phone on when a configured tag is swiped even when the screen is off. Just search something similar, As your device is new in the market, you will have to wait till some serious development starts on for your device (custom kernels and ROMs available though)....
But I still don't get the harm not using your power button..... It won't wear off trust me

Well I don't know there are many apps for that! Just type it in the store and you'll find many.
And if you want to root your phone the first thing you need to do is unlock your bootloader. Have you unlocked your bootloader?
Oh but remember, rooting voids your warranty!

Hmmm.. I don't think so.
Well you can use another rooted android phone. But you'd need an OTG Cable and a Micro USB Cable. And that other android phone must support OTG too.
So never mind, using a computer is much easier.

Hey! I found a really cool app named 'Gravity' which used the proximity sensor to wake your device when you take it out of you pocket or pick it up from a table. And it is capable of doing the reverse too (locking). It doesn't leeches battery (even doesn't shows in the stats) and does not require any root access. Just install and your ready to rock!

FIX SYSTEM CONTROL ON DECREASED BRIGHTNESS TO PREVENT HEAT
The below issue is only present on lg custom roms from 4.2 and up, thermel controls the brightness to low it down to prevent heat, this app patches the thermal to remove some vlaues.
Some advanced users use the dialler to go to the hidden menu to disable the thermal, this app is very useful for simple and fast, also to tablets with no dialler.
Hey every one,
Today, I'm going to present to you an easy way to disable the auto lowering the brightness when in 100%, and make it sit for life-long...
It's an easy way...
I HAVE NOT DEVELOPED THAT APP!!!
Its BTW already there, but i want to share it with you guys!!
Q: What is it? A: its an app called "LGBrightnessPatcher"
Q: What it does? A: it restrict the system from getting brightness decreased, when slight heat.
Q: Require root? A: of course!
Q: Does it glue the brightness to 100%? A: No, you can adjust it from the brightness slider bar...
The app patches the brightness watcher and preventing it from changing the value when the screen gets 100% after an amount of time to let the device cool down, and not to get heat...
Other than that, the patching process would not take longer than 10 seconds!! and its totally safe!! i tested it myself!!
Instructions:
1. Root your device.
2. Install the app from the links down below.
3. Give root permission grant.
4. Touch on apply permanent patch.
5. Wait 5 seconds, got a toast massage?
6. Reboot.
7. Enjoy 100% brightness without limiting!!
Before download, let me thank the developer of the app, Tweakers and Optimizers who make that app possible!!
Its an genus app BTW!!!
Links, why? you'll find it in play store: LGBrightnessPatcher
Have a good day everyone! and get your G3 brighter, i mean stick at 100% all the time...
FEEDBACK guys, i tested it in LG G PAD V500, in stock 4.2.2 and 4.4.2, hope will work for the G3...
Press thank, rate...
15/04/2015: Looks like some folks have troubles installing the patch correctly, to fix the problem install busybox from play store.
