Maybe I'm just stating the obvious here, but github shows me further changes on dsi-panel-honami.dtsi:
https://github.com/sonyxperiadev/ke.../arch/arm/boot/dts/qcom/dsi-panel-honami.dtsi
It might be worth it to do the same on dsi-panel-amami.dtsi

One question if possible... did you guys have serial cable for debuging and which one you use for debuging kernel ? I have created one but seems its not working, going to buy db9 to rj45 adapter since my computer have db9 input, will it work? This is http://img706.imageshack.us/img706/2452/samsungmicrousb1.jpg cable scheme which I have used for it.
Edit:
nevermind, solved.
Are there instructions to build this kernel anywhere? I think I am able to build it to obtain a zimage but I don't know how to incorporate this into an existing ROM.

This is source code for AOSP ("pure android"). That what Sony released is device source folders for E3, M2... and proprietary precompiled binaries. That's needed, so compiled AOSP will run on the device. Devs can set up their own device folder, but Sony did it for them first. The source might be incoplete or buggy, so devs have to fix it.

We could use SVN but I prefer git
Next post will be instructions on how to download that I'll complete when We have a booting ROM.
This thread is also where the FAQ, Download Instructions, and other general non development related info will be.
We'd like to keep the ROM Thread Clean and Focused on Development ONLY, and this thread for discussion.
Also Thanks List:
@LlabTooFeR for the base
@dd98 for the ROM Development
@javelinanddart for the Kernel Development @Zarboz for the kernel base @pirlano for the rom development
I personally WILL NOT help anyone who has not searched and thoroughly read the instructions because there will be a lot of them

Thats strange. HTC has the source code listed for Android 5.0.1 yet the dev edition and the EU 7.19.401.2 update is based on Android 5.0.2
As I can see well, HTC put in access the kernel
I've been looking at the HTC kernel source for M7 and tried to build it for our ville. This, I managed: I got a kernel. I then tried to make a boot.img but I don't get from where to start. Which initrd should we base on?
I don't have time to work on this these days, but maybe in a week I'll have a few hours. I'm reading any pieces on advice on how I can help and which ways I can explore.
I intend to start from MaximuxHD 52.0.0 by @LlabTooFeR. Maybe we could try to start from the base he's working on instead...
Anybody else tried anything?
Take a look

I got @Zarboz to help with a kernel
It's on the team github
Let's upload the MaximusHD M7 ROM and start this!
I'm compiling the kernel he gave us right now
We will use CM's Wifi Firmware and Drivers
The only thing he's concerned about is the display drivers not working
Also Ville is not my main phone anymore and I might have to give it up this summer, just fyi
I'm also undertaking porting a Linux 3.4 Kernel to the Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G as well as LP to it (with the 3.0 kernel atm)
@pirlano, I'll add you to the github Done
Also the kernel is not compiling atm

I think it's better to wait for T6 International LP rom
But I'll see what I can do with kernel, I was porting M7 LP kernel in private (Zarboz one is an M8 port?)

OK, but why T6?
Zarboz said there's only so many device specific files: If we chose apq8064 in m8 source, and added m7 files, we could build m7 kernel

Because T6 international WiFi (firmware maybe not, but for example qualcomm chip hotspot framework and config yes), BT, FM Radio framework, config, app and binary files are perfect for Ville!
For example, BT and FM Radio in 4.4.2 Sense 6 were fixed with T6 files. Same for BT with "4.4.3 experimental" can be fixed with T6 BT files (FM can't be fixed because of a T6 lib that doesn't works with all others M7 libs).

Hi there. I'm from Germany and my english isn't the best. I'm looking a while for a working Sumire Port, but no one did it till now. Now i will try it on my own and found this instructions :
https://github.com/offensive-security/kali-nethunter/wiki/Porting-Nethunter
This Tutorial looks a Kind of short. Is this really all to do?
Hi there Germany, this is Norway! I actually did this 4 months ago, patched kernel with injection patches and all But there is some challenges met, because the original kernel would not work with my TL-WN722n usb dongle.. the reason for that is (i think) we must run CM and compile a CM kernel for this. I really like Sonys layout better than CM infact.. and CM on Sony Z5 (sumire) is kinda buggy :/
BUT! Do you really wanna do this, then we could TAG TEAM to do the work, I've written some patches and device support for NetHunter (gtaxlwifi) so i not exactly what to do.. But TouchWiz works for Samsung (Exynos), but we must do some CM work to get it working on Sony Z5. Want to give it a try with me? best regards, Christian B.
Hey, I know its a bit late (3 years and more than a half) but I'm searching a nethunter kernel for this device or at least a guide on how to compile to it as I'm a noob... do you still keep that kernel by any chance @kimocoder?

Yes! Looking in the CAF sources page (https://wiki.codeaurora.org/xwiki/bin/QAEP/release) you can see that kernel 4.9 for msm8953 and msm8953pro exists since Oreo ( LA.UM.6.6.2.r1-04200-89xx.0 is yet based on kernel 4.9 and CAF released it in 19/07/2018) and it was based on Linux 4.9.82, now with Android 9 it's based on Linux 4.9.112.
So, long life to all these devices that has this SoC!
But, for Pie there are 2 tags and one is still based on kernel 3.18 (to be more precise, 3.18.115, LA.UM.7.6.r1-02000-89xx.0 ) and the other one is at kernel 4.9 (4.9.112, LA.UM.7.6.2.r1-03000-89xx.0 ). I think we can see some ROMs with kernel 4.9 in the next months, but for now we stay on 3.18 while waiting they make perfectly working 4.9.

It does improve performance and battery life. Main thing, amongst other things like improved security and way newer drivers, is the EAS.
Our devs are already working on 4.9 kernel for Mi A1, already testing it and recently released experimental builds and even now it's no comparison to 3.18 in it's current state, it's not even fair to compare.

Of course, EAS is impremented by Qcom itself on 4.9, so it is properly optimized and calibrated. Even now I don't need to adjust anything, just left it as it is.
What's more interesting is what OEM is going to do - be with 3.18 or move on to 4.9. Knowing Xiaomi, I'm guessing they'll stay on 3.18.

Hello, please help me find the kernel sources CAF for msm8953_64 3.18.71-74, i have compile kernel for device billion capture +, thanks in advance
Would like to breath new life into my Lenovo P2, but I guess 4.9 will remain a dream?
Hello
I did Bought a Samsung Galaxy Z flip 3 demo version , i want to build TWRP for it
Spoiler: That is Done
yesterday i downloaded the Kernel source code from Samsung , now i just need TWRP Sources and and Create a Device Tree to built it
if you want TWRP for this phone , just comment down below (for some motivation)
Spoiler: that done too , look for the custom working kernel
Now For a The Custom Kernel
I Manage to Get A Custom Kernel Working with A lot Of Optimisations (Thanks @chrisaw and Others) on a Old OneUI (That System That Came with the Kernel) and it work well (it need some minor touches)
the Kernel Cant Work on Newer OneUI and Custom Roms (Pixel EXperience) because Of new Changes in Vendor Are not Compatible with the Kernel
A guess this Need A lot Of Working (Everytime Samsung do it their Way and Dont Care about The Correct Way)
ScreenShot of the Kernel
Spoiler: That is Done too too
now on Focusing on The Custom Rom , i download LineageOS 19.0 Source Code as i will build for 2 separate phones (Galaxy Z Flip3 'snapdragon 888' and UMIDIGI F1 Play 'Mediatek Helio P60') consecutively
this rom will be based on treble gsi patches but working only on Galaxy Z Flip3
i manage to build LineageOS 19.0 for Galaxy Z Flip3 , i will not share it now cause :
1 - it is not daily driver or usable , you can call it pre-alpha
2 - it has a lot of bugs that i saw , it could be other i didn't
3 - it is a Treble gsi just for testing purposes and does not have gapps (gapps needed to be included in the gsi not like a normal rom)
4 - i fix the fingerprint , now it is usable
5 - don't ask me about rear screen , it is perfectly not working at all (if you close the phone , the main display become black , rear screen have just samsung galaxy logo....)
6 - other things i forgot
Any Help will be appreciated
Stay Tune
Thanks
Yeah I'd like to see a fully functional TWRP
yes!
really appreciated!
I'm in
hells yeah
ok so i reinstall my ubuntu setup cause apt went broken , but now im good to start
my initial work is the device tree , it is still WIP

That kernel never booted, so that would probably do more harm than good. It does, however, include the changes to make an inline kernel build outside the source. It was more an example than a template.

I have the US version, which is why I abandoned the kernel. I had no way to test the changes specific to Samsung, which would be OneUI.
Your best bet would be looking into the changes for an S21 / S22 because they are going to have the Samsung specific changes.

No worries. I would rather you know I don't know, if that makes sense. Sounds like you are more than capable either way.
