Recovery that won't trip knox? - Sprint Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm coming from VZW where we had SafeStrap to flash roms without tripping knox. Is there anything like that for the Sprint variant of the S5? I'm assuming safestrap wouldn't work on the sprint variant correct?

Correct, if you want to flash a custom ROM on a Sprint s5 you'll unfortunately have to trip Knox

(Q) newb question regarding tripping knox

So I've been rooting my Samsungs since my Galaxy S2, but tripping Knox has always been unclear... As of know I'm running stock recovery, stock NE5 rooted and have 0x0... Does that mean I have not tripped Knox yet?
And if it doesn't, will I trip Knox by flashing a custom recovery?

That is correct, you have not tripped Knox yet, and yes, flashing custom recovery will trip Knox

Ok thank you. Other than voiding warranty by tripping Knox, is there any other consequence?
Will I still be able to run art, use every feature on the phone if I do trip Knox?

Flashfire for s6

Is someone willing to make a thread about what flashable zips of mods or roms people have flashed via flashfire without tripping knox counter?
I'm surprised that there's so little interest in this topic. Seems kinda like the holy grail atm to flash custom ROMs without triggering KNOX. I saw someone in the Flashfire thread mentioning that they'd actually flashed a ROM after removing the lines that flashed a custom kernel, and it worked out well. KNOX still intact.
Then again, someone else said they'd also flashed kernels using Flashfire without triggering. I'd be more wary of that, though.
There's a flashfire thread already.

Specific for s6? Where? I am also surprised there isn't more interest in making our phones free of knox restrictions

There isn't a flashfire thread for every device. There's a general one.

I know that but I think we need people who own an s6 and are brave enough to flash with flashfire to post their results regarding flashing successfully and without tripping knox as well..
On Verizon s6 Scrosler has built two roms that can be flashed with flashfire. I sent him a message, everyone who wants to bring his roms in our phones would be nice to show his interest too.

Root without tripping knox?

Will there be any effort to obtain root but not trip knox?
I will pay. It seems most have just given up on keeping it.
Remember, safestrap on note 3? That was bomb.
All my notes (1-5) so far haven't tripped knox, I hope to not start now.
Roms without all that bloatware is so nice

They should be able to do it, they did it for the S6. I'm waiting until the 6 month mark before I just regular root.

Current Root status for G920i on 5.1.1 14 Oct Update?

Hi guys,
I just got a new g920i on 5.1.1. I checked Chainfire and his root only supports up to 5.02. What is the currently the easiest way to root/install custom ROM such as XtreSolite on my S6? is it compatible to begin with?
the guide to root here also doesn't work with my model: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/general/s6-g920f-5-0-2-engineering-bootloader-t3209916
need to be doubly sure as I don't want to brick my phone after tripping knox..
Use a custom kernel to root, easy as can be.

I think this is the most asked and most answered question on XDA right now. If tripping Knox concerns you, don't root.

unlocked firmware on verizon device

Is it possible to flash the unlocked firmware on a note 20 ultra purchased from verizon without losing any features?
Yes you can flash U1's BL, AP, CP with U CSC. This will remove VZ bloat.

u will lose Visual Voicemail
But you can download samsung visual voicemail and it works just like verizon visual voicemail.
But there is no way to flash custom roms on the Verizon version is there? Just factory firmware correct?
Sorry guys, I've been out of the rom and root scene since the Pixel 2 days so I'm not really sure whats possible anymore.

I think the video calling feature from the dialer uses Duo after you change to Unlocked firmware. If I'm not mistaken, it uses a VZW specific feature when on Verizon firmware.
