Hey Guys
I have a Sony Bravia W700B series TV and a Sony Xperia Z3.
Before I had the Z3 I had a Z1, which connected seamlessly with the TV when making use of the Throw or mirroring options.
Then, on the same day I got my new Z3, my TV did an update and now mirroring doesn't operate smoothly.
That is if it connects at all. It's usually a few tries, even a reset later of both the TV and the phone. When it does connect, sound is out of sync and big gaps of the streaming video just doesn't make it to the TV.
Because the TV updated on the same day as I got my new phone, I dont know which is the culprit.
If anybody can help I would appreciate it do much.
Thank you,
Johann

Nobody seems to have this... One person had issues with a Samsung TV, but then it resolved after an update... So it's likely my TV...

Hi there,
I just tried my w850 and it doesn't even want to connect, my previous Z1 had no problems connecting to the TV, the Z3 see's the TV but won't connect. I am just downloading a firmware update for the TV and will try it again once that has finished. I will test the Z1 and the Z3 to see if it is a phone issue rather than the TV.
I will try a w700 later today, which I had issues with the sony throw software with Xepria Z and Z1 playing raw video from the movies app.
Edit;
Throw works well with w850 and my old Z1, I couldn't get it to work at all with the Z3, it just displayed a message saying that it was preparing.
Screen mirroring worked well on both phones, maybe the Z3 seemed a little more laggy moving around the screens, however when playing youtube videos there was no issue and the video and audio was in sync, tested wifi and wifi direct (my wifi is wireless AC so heaps of bandwidth).
Edit2; tried my other w800 sorry thought it was the 700, had all sorts of issues using throw after I first enabled it, however after restarting the phone, it worked fine as the Z1 did previously, shipped videos did not play using throw from the movies app. Youtube videos played fine with no syncing issues.

Thank you for all your trouble. Last night my phone also worked fine, no idea why or how but it did. Maybe I reset it at some point and that solved it for me too. Thank you for checking...

My problem is back. I tested it tonight with my friend's Z3 and it had the same problems, so even though the problem could be Z3 wide it's not specific to my unit. The sound is 5 seconds or so out of sync and big bits of streaming media simply doesn't make it to the TV from the phone. It stutters and is basically unusable. The steaming function worked perfectly with my Z1 but my TV did an update and I got a new phone at the same time and since then I can't throw from my z3 to my w700. Anybody with this issue?

I'm having pretty much the same problem with my Z3, and my fiancé's Z3 compact. It'll connect to my W850A, but it stutters like crazy, and keeps disconnecting.
Nexus 4, Nexus 5, LG G2, And Z2 tablet works fine.

I tried it on my Roku, it works fine, can't use my TV (LG 47" from 2011) as it doesn't support Miracast. So if you are having issues it might be the TV's firmware.
So are you using wifi direct? or connecting to the TV via a wifi router?
@Johann_London and @shilent have you tried restarting your phone to see if that clears up the problem?
It's connecting directly to the TV... So no router involved and it's using Miracast. The guy above is also having the same issue with his Z3...and compact. So its looking like an issue on the Z3's side... Wish I still had my Z1 to test it. It's really annoying cos the feature is pretty much unusable now. And it's been months. Sony need to sort their stuff out... How can they want to be wanting a bigger chunk of the market if they let you down so badly and for so long?

Thank you for checking. Super annoying. My Z1 was fine... Maybe if Sony stopped churning out too many phones a year with too little time to perfect each one and rather just introduced one, working flagship a year it would be better for us all. And yes I read, that is what will be happening after the Z4...

Agreed, the support for the phones dies too quick. Sony have worked out finally because of their sales, that release cycle does not work, because few people are going to slash out $600+ every 6 months for a phone every 12 months could be Christmas and a lot of people have the product on contract so can't update until that expires.
I have a Z1 as well, so will continue testing it to see if I can get my phones to stutter the same.
I have the same issues with my Z3 Compact like Johann_London.
Sometimes my telephone reboots and I have to pull out the power cable of the TV because it shows no reaction anymore. TV is Sony KDL-40R485B...
Does anyone have a solution for that problem?
Working very well on Z3 Lollipop and Bravia KDL-60W630B. Brighthouse TV App, Slingbox and 4K recorded video from the phone is stutter free. It seems to take a little time to settle down but working fine after a few minutes.

Hi! I have Bravia KDL 32W 700B and the same problem while mirroring using my z1 compact music play like scratched cd and screen tears in between like half becomes black and with weird patterns.
But i found a way to reduce it, i think sony tv has problem with 5ghz band.
As I switch off one touch mirroring and wifi direct it works normal. I can't complain to sony engineers because they are pathetic they even don't tv has wifi direct or not.

I know it's a huge disappointment that HTC didn't put in a HDMI port, something that didn't bother me until recently.
I know for a fact that DLNA works great for streaming videos and photos taken on my phone to my TV, even on CM7.
I also just recently saw those youtube videos of guys using their Evo 4gs as their desktop, and wondered if there was a way for this to be accomplished on our phones. I was mainly thinking there was some way to work some magic over DLNA, and then bluetooth speakers, mouse and keyboard for the rest.
Anyone know if this is possible at all or even semi possible?
(I tried to search before posting but the search was down)
I'm also looking for an answer to this
I would like to see some idea on this too. I guess we're in the minority.
I agree as well, this is something I would be interested in. I remember when I bought my previous phone (nokia 5800 XM). I was quite excited about it's video out function, only to find it's composite analog video out to be wanting.
When I was trying to decide between inspire and the Atrix, a big deciding point for me was the untested nature of the dual core, and so far I like the results of my choice, the 2nd gen snapdragon has plenty of ooomph to play my highly compressed x264 mkvs and the battery is somewhat reasonable, however the screen mirroring is something I would really be interested in, surely with the gpu/cpu combo in place some kind of solution could be put into place, it doesn't take that much bandwidth to push a 2d desktop worth of images, especially with modern network speeds.
Here's hoping!
I am really hoping for a way to do this too. That new crackle app would be a lot nicer if I could watch it on my tv.

Dude, I think you've got the wrong section, this is the INSPIRE 4G SECTION.
hope someone posts a tutorial

anyone here using peel to its fullest?
I have set it up with no problem (HDTV, Satellite DVR and Stereo Reciever) but didn't find any real use for it. Its just so much easier to use the universal remote that came with my dish. Also while it turns everything on with one click it doesn't turn everything off, have to do them all seperately.
Peel is just horrid, completely lacks a learn function or a means of importing definitions. A decent ir app that used the transmitter built into the 7+would be great. Possibly a LIRC based app - that would open many doors.
Sent from my GT-P6210 using Tapatalk
haven't use it at all... useless for me...
I use to use the Peel app before I got my 32" HDTV.
The only reason I don't use it now is because I would hate having to keep pressing input til it gets all the way down to hdmi 1.
Basically, it needs to be upgraded for the newer tvs.
Never used it...their support tells me that there is a bug with honeycomb and ir sensors. They said that the fix is ics and its up to Samsung to release it. Kind of a crumbly response if you're going to bundle a product and not support it.
Sent from my GT-P6210 using xda premium
I used it with a Samsung tv and lg tv no problems,
It also works with a old Sony DVD player I have,
Can't get it to work with the dreambox but this could be due to the custom firmware on the box,
Future support for sky boxes would be great...
Nope. Haven't touched it and no plans to do so.
I tried it out when I first got by SGT7+ and it worked - sort of - with my Toshiba TV and DirecTV. I haven't used it since. Actually I find it more trouble than it's worth. The IR sensor was not one of the reasons I got my Tab and didn't even come into play with my decision-making process. I could live without it quite nicely.
Never.
I think it is totally useless. Even I have couple of devices, but never use. I still can't understand why Samsung spent money to put this.
I also tried setting it up but couldn't get it to work with my setup. I am using Windows Media Center on an HTPC and all I could get it to do was turn on the TV. I like the idea behind it, but making it compatible with so many different setups is difficult. It would be interesting if Logitech bought them and integrated it with their Harmony line.

Hi
I just purchased the Samsung BD-FM59C bluray player from Costco for $120. The player supports AllShare Cast and Miracast.
I tired it out a display version at Costco (they hooked up the display to a tv and let me play with it). I went to the screen mirroring option and it said to connect my "Allshare Cast or Miracast device" and I was able to successfully mirror with my Nexus 4 (CM 10.1 Linaro nightly). Satisfied, I bought it.
I went home and updated the firmware (v1003 to v1007). Now it no longer mentions Miracast on the Screen Mirroring option and my Nexus 4 never connects.
Anyone have experience with mirroring on this model? Any other ROMs work better with Miracast? Also if you are interested in this player for mirroring, maybe hold off on updating the firmware.
Update: Stock rooted T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S III does not work either with Allshare Cast. It connects then quickly disconnects without mirroring. So it seems to be a bad update. Or I possibly have a lemon.
Does anyone have this model or the new Panasonic models (BDT230 AND BDT330) with Miracast? I'm looking for a decent bluray player with Miracast, DLNA, and Amazon Instant Video. So far, these players seem to be the only ones that do this at least at a reasonable price

We also just got the Samsung BD-F5900 bluray player. Although I did try to do mirroring with my Galaxy s3 before it self-updated (also from v1003 to v1007). Before the update it mentioned Miracast and after it did not. However, I haven't gotten it to work before or after the firmware update. I am speaking with Samsung now to get it resolved and they told me they would call me back in a day or two.
Can you go back to Costco and see what version they are running in the store? If it is working with the older version, you could reset your device back to the stock device and disable software updates form inside settings. Or, perhaps Costco would work with you on setting up your system mirroring with your phone, in their store?

I've been looking into it more. And contacting Samsung Support, with no resolution so far.
I'm assuming Costco was running v1003, since it was the version mines came out of the box. They just had the blu-ray sitting with the price tag and it wasn't connected to anything. I asked them to plug it into a TV and they did and they grabbed the remote for it. The blu-ray player at the store wasn't ever connected to the internet and I was able to Miracast with my Nexus 4. I would downgrade back to v1003, if I could, but I don't think the player would allow me to even if I could somehow find the firmware file on the internet.
The player at home, I updated immediately to v1007. And it no longer worked with my Nexus 4 (and removed reference to Miracast).
For Allshare Cast device (GS3), it looks like people are having issues with the Allshare Cast Hub dongle (that costs $100) and rooted devices, such as in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2089479. Since you could never use the mirroring, I wonder if it's because of rooted / flash counter status?
After more attempts, I was able to use Screen Mirroring with my Nexus 4 on the v1007 firmware. It took many connecting disconnecting some restarting but it finally connected and paired and I was able to start mirroring. Again this is on the CM 10.1 Linaro nightly, so it could be something related to the ROM making it difficult to start mirroring.
Ironically, still no luck mirroring with Allshare Cast on stock rooted Galaxy S III...possibly related to root status.

It looks like it. It took many efforts to get it I tried again after, and it did not connect again smoothly, so it seems tempermental, at least for me. But it all in all, it does work with Miracast on Nexus 4...eventually. There is about 1-2 second delay in the mirroring, so fast-paced gaming is not ideal.

I just got the BDT-330 specifically for the Miracast feature. It does work, however it's not really ready for prime-time. DLNA works pretty well, though but not with the default Windows dlna server in Windows 7. I downloaded Serviio and it works really well.

Today t-mobile pushed an update for the Samsung S3, we now have Android 4.1.2 and allshare cast works as expected. My phone hasn't been rooted, so I've never messed with the flash counter status.
My blu-ray player also has the v1007 firmware. It connected on the first try this afternoon.
I have the same BD-FM59C player with 1008 firmware (before that it had 1007) and it NEVER worked with my stock Nexus 4. Not only that but the player itself (forget about miracast) sucks sucks sucks. I'm taking it back to costco. Sony is by far the best in similar low cost players

It looks like stock may not work on Nexus 4. Not sure if it's related to software or even TV, but I only got it to work CM 10.1 with the HDCP off option enabled. I'm running Paranoid Android on the Nexus 4 and it's doing what my GS3 did where it would connect then disconnect.
I tried fully stock GS3 and it did not work either but Kitzy said it works w latest GS3 update from T-Mobile.
Maybe the common problem with All share Cast and Miracast failing is HDCP related?
Also I did like Sony's player (I had the S590) for usability since it allowed more apps to use keyboard/mouse and had better navigation, but it also had a lot of problems with DLNA. This Samsung has its problems with being too Samsung centric (the remote only works with Samsung TV's and isn't universal!) and horrible navigation but it also has a lot more features. Such as good YouTube app (with YouTube Tv support from mobile), better web browser, miracast (which may or may not work) and better DLNA support. It's even better for DLNA by using bubbleUPNP and screen mirroring also works with Intel WiDi. So I think it's the better bang for the buck right now.
Hi
I was a day away from buying this incredible phone and suddenly realized that it doesn't support dlna(so no streaming from other devices wirelessly)....this is a major setback as the beauty of any android is dlna as I have 6 devices which all go well with each other and if this my phone which is important of all refuses to not talk with my other devices then its basically dumb
So I want to know if there is any app which will work like dlna(client and host)
Also why did moto didn't this basic functionality???(you don't have to answer this)

DLNA works perfectly fine. You can use this if you want to use your phone as a server or this if you just want to play the contents off of another server.
Hey there the Oh so wonderful XDA community. I recently purchased the Alcatel Idol 3 and Watch combo off of Amazon for my father as a replacement for his Note 2 and so far he has been loving it.. Except for one issue.
As the title says he's having some slight Bluetooth issues and is only able to connect to the watch itself and other phones. He generally used his phone to connect to his truck and as well as his Bose speakers but the Idol 3 is unable to do so. Any idea as to how to fix this issue or if it's a widespread thing?
Thanks in advance.
