I'm cleaning up my phone, PHOTOS only shows photos stored on the phone, it doesn't include photos on the SD card.
So I downloaded the SD card photos via Airdroid FILES and now want to delete them
If I right click on EXTERNAL SD CARD, I'm given the delete option, but if I dive into any subdirectories, all delete options are greyed out whether it's right click on directory or file, or select and click the trash can.
Any ideas? This is a Note 3 running Android 4.3

Would you please attach a screenshot here? Generally, if you right click on EXTERNAL SD CARD, there's no delete option.
Here you go

Has nobody run into this before? I posted the screenshots that were requested. Was kind of expecting a response.

If AirDroid doesn't have the permission to delete files on your external sd card, the delete option will be greyed out. Or would you please give it a try on the phone: AirDroid--->Tools--->Files. Try deleting one photo there just to check if AirDroid has the permission. Thank you in advance
I think you're on to something. Using AirDroid on the phone itself, I attempted to delete a file from the SD card. The delete option was there, it said the delete was successful, but nothing was actually deleted.
What might prevent this from working?

AirDroid does not have the permission to delete files on your SD card
right, we determined that. my question was WHY would it not have permissions? What should I be looking at to fix that problem?

Is it just me, or does anyone have a messy folder structure?
Ex, my SD card is named HTC 16GB and under it I have about 50 folders.
I've seen on several threads people mentioning system/app, yet I don't have those folders, my system folders are scattered a bit.
Is there any specific hierarchy I should follow, would organizing my folders screw up my phone when it tries to retrieve data?

Well it's in alphabetical order...
DO NOT TOUCH THE FOLDERS
Reorganising them could stuff up your SD card I strongly recommend you leave them they are all in their place for a reason.

What? You aren't going to brick you phone meeting with folders on the sd card. In fact I've deleted, renamed and done just about everything else with folders on the sd card.
Oh, and to the op. To find your system/app folder, you need to use a file explorer on your phone, like es file explorer, and access the folder from your phone, as system folders are in your phones memory an not the sd card.

I've thought about that but after using ES File Explorer, I was unable to locate the system folders.

Use root explorer go to system and there is go, done!
N.B. Try this at your own risk. No one will be responsible with anything right or wrong you do.
Everyone is searching for a way to install apps on External micro SD Card, but as of Android 4.1.2 of the Galaxy Core, this option is unavailable.
Apps like AppMgr III, ext2sd, etc nothing works.
But here, I’m gonna show you a way to do this easily. But this method needs your phone to be rooted.
Search the forum to find Farmaroot to root your phone.
This method will make your phone thinks that its using the sdcard0,
but there will be a fake door which will led all app data to be on extSdCard.
Required Apps:
Lucky Patcher
Steps:
Download and install Lucky Patcher 3.9.3 (developers' website)
(optional) (do this if you want to move your existing app data and obb too) Copy/move the existing “sdcard0/Android/” folder to “extSdCard/Android/”.
If you don’t copy/move your existing apps might not work.
I recommend to move as existing apps will take up some extra card space.
Create a folder named “Android” on extSdCard if you skipped 2, or the folder is missing.
Open Lucky Patcher and click on the “Toolbox” button on the bottom.
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Touch the “Directory Binder” option.
Select “Add new directory bind”.
On the first typer, browse to the “Android” folder on extSdCard; and on the second typer, browse to the “Android” folder on sdcard0.
Confirm with “Bind Directory”.
Now, all your existing apps’ data will be on extSdCard. And in future any apps which will be installed, will be installed on extSdCard too.
P.S.: You need internal storage space to install the APKs. This method will only give access to the app data to be on the extSdCard.
Thanks to ChelpuS for his amazing app.
im just use directory bind, its simple.
or use GL to SD

I use folder mount.
What I love about this tut, is that, whenever you install apps, it automatically mount the apps from extsdcard.
Unlike foldermount or apps2sd, everytime you install new apps, you need to manually mount them.
Thanks qstar.inc :good:

though you need to be careful while starting the phone for the first time, open apps before patching done might replace all your data!

Damn, I lost all my installed apps and saves, then I have this "safe mode" in my left lower screen. http://www.svetandroida.cz/media/2013/05/safe-mode.gif
I guess I will go back and use my internal SD card.

I think I messed up the settings of Lucky Patcher.
But its ok, I have all my apps backed up with TB.
Maybe I'll try folder mount instead.

Hello,
I have a Nokia 3.1 phone running Android 8.0 Oreo. I am not able to move files from my internal storage to my SD card. Whenever I try to do this I get an error message that says: You must perform the certain steps to grant Samsung SD card card access rights. I click OK and do the steps but nothing happens.
I am trying to move video files to my SD card. I selected the file that I wanted to move, and then selected the “Move To” option. I then selected: Move to MicroSD, and I selected the Documents folder. And the following screen came up to move the file to:
> root > storage > 8881-1600 , and I clicked OK.

}
Then a screen popped up that said: You must perform the certain steps to grant Samsung SD card access rights. And I clicked OK.
Then another screen popped that said the same thing, and I clicked >.
Then another screen popped up verifying that I wanted to use the Documents folder and I clicked: Select.
And it sent me right back to the previous screen.
What am I doing wrong here?
Thank you

Select ur SD card root it'll work, send me a msg on Whatsapp incase ur still confused ? 08114497646
Hello guys.
So, I've been using my SD card as internal storage in my android phone.
My phone broke and I had to factory reset it.
Of course the issue with the SD card is that I am not able to access any files that existed there, anymore. Mainly I care about pictures.
What I did in order to fix this is first of all connect the SD directly to my PC and use various recovery software (testdisk, ZAR, remo recover etc) and none could read anything on the SD card.
The only software that manages to read stuff on it is called Stellar Photo Recovery.
Found 13GB and recovered them, but the result is .ppm files that ALL have the same size! Check the pictures below for more info.
Of course the recovered .ppm files cannot be opened by any software and I am here then in order to ask for advice.

Here is a thread that was started by a member with the same issue that I attempted to help.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/general/help/corrupted-sd-card-adoptable-storage-t3801250
If you read through the thread, you will see that they came up with a method to recover the data and return the sdcard to a useable/working condition and has posted the instructions. If you read further into the thread, you'll see where they have made improvements in how the process is used. Read all of the posts by that member in that thread and make sure you understand how their original method worked and how their refined methods are implemented vs how they were originally. Pay attention to the changes in the method and where those changes are implemented to make it easier.

Thank you so much for this. Even though I searched a lot, I wasn't able to trace this, since the word "adoptable" didn't cross my mind.
Will read and post back results.
(I have a Gabb Z1 Phone) Is there any way for me to transfer files to it? It has a Micro SD slot, but it doesn't work for some reason. I can take screenshots with it, and I tried connecting it to the computer. If I connect it to the computer, it reads out as a camera.
. If it showed MTP, then I could transfer files, but it doesn't. I also entered it in recovery mode, and connected it to my Windows 10 desktop computer. It didn't show up, so I clicked on "Apply Update from ADB".
When I did that, it showed up as" {serial number} sideload". If there is any way that you can help me, let me know.

It might be the cord you are using.
Also, in your screenshot, it says MTP is not supported.
There are file manager apps in the Playstore that have the ability to transfer files over Wi-Fi.

By posting your questions here in the threads instead of via private message. I prefer helping in the threads instead of PM that way everyone can potentially benefit from answers given.
You can download the file manager app from the web,it will download into your download folder, install the apk from your download folder.
I cannot transfer any kind of files, including apk files.
When I was uploading the OTA in recovery mode, it went all the way to 46 percent, then terminated.
Also can you send me the link for public threads?
