[Completed] Change of carrier and Internet access - XDA Assist

I have upgraded my phone and my old phone has been passed on to my son. The old phone is an HTC One S running the carriers Android.
Originally this phone was on the UK carier Three. I obtained the unlock code and unlocked the phone. We have installed a Vodafone SIM and it is making calls and sending SMS no problems. However it will not connect to the web.
I had assumed that it would simply just work on the web.
Are there other settings I should be changing to make the web accessible?

Sir,
For more relevant answers and/or solutions you can start ask in the device related forum here:

or directly in this thread: ***Emergency Thread*** Here To Help!
Have a nice day

[Completed] [Q] HELP???

Hello, I'm new to this forum I'm not even sure if I'm in the right place on xda? Anyhow I recently bought an unlocked HTC one m7 from the open market that had been refurbished and rooted. The phone has a new front and back panel on it and I don't know which carrier it was previously on. Is their any way to dig around in the phone settings and find out which carrier it was previously on? Thank you
Hi,
You are lucky because you have a dedicated forum for this device, so please post your question to that forum for more relevant answers:

[Completed] [Q] Rooted Huawei Y550 - No Signal - No Network Connection

I recently bought a Huawei Y550 in the UK and returned to Japan (where I live)
In Japan I can connect to local networks (Docomo 4G) using my UK EE sim card but when I insert my Japanese (AU-KDDI) sim card it won't connect to a network - selecting the KDDI 4G network gives the error 'can't connect to the network at this time. Please try again later' (or something like that). I get the same error when using the various APNs available.
When the phone lists the networks with my UK sim inserted, Docomo has a 'tick' next to it and the other networks have a 'plus' symbol next to them. When I insert my Japanese sim, KDDI has a 'plus' symbol next to it while all the others have 'no access' symbols next to them. (Image attached since I can't insert links as a new member.)
I was under the impression that if my phone was sim locked I would be asked for a code when the Japanese sim is inserted but I have full function of the phone (all apps, wifi etc) with that sim inserted; I just don't have a mobile network connection.
Not sure if it makes any difference but this phone is rooted. The problems were the same before and after rooting.
My question is: How can I get this phone to work on the KDDI network?
Thanks!
Hi,
You likely do need to sim unlock the device. Probably from a website that does it for a fee.... If they can do your device. As for how to do it, I can't find anything relevant on XDA about this. You can try asking in this thread,
> Android Development and Hacking > Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting > [Q] Possible to root Huawei Y550?
If that doesn't help, you will need to ask for help here, or try a google search,
> Android Development and Hacking > Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
Good luck!

Thanks for your help. I have extensively searched google and only found companies that will unlock the phone by sending a code but my phone doesn't ask for a code when I insert the new SIM card so I don't think it is an option.
I will try asking on the thread that you suggested - I am already following that thread (that's how I rooted my phone) but it is only really about rooting the phone and I wasn't sure about posting off-topic.
You can ask, worse they can do is not answer.
Or try the second section I linked. ?

[Completed] Unbranding HTC 8XT and Windows Update

Hello,
Real noob here so here goes.
I have a Sprint phone (although my cellular network reads HTC) that I use on TIng (Sprint MVNO).
I have not gotten and probably will not ever get WP 8.1
If I unbrand my phone will I be able to get WP 8.1? If so, from whom? Microsoft?
Will I still be able to use the phone on my current network?
Sorry for these simple questions, but you guys are my last hope.
Thanks
George

[Completed] Vodafone 858: No mobile network after unlocking

Hi,
I got a old Vodafone 858. As it was SIM locked I used the form on the german Vodafone website to get the unlock code and entered it. The phone told me unlocking was not successful and continued startup.
Now the phone doesn't ask me for the unlock code anymore but also don't register to the mobile network, so only emergency calls are possible.
Already tried wiping everything from recovery menu. Any help?

Thanks for your assistance. Was able to solve it for myself by manually selecting the network (T-Mobile 3G). Now it works even after switching back to automatic network discovery.

[Completed] How to factory reset a phone (SCH-R740C)

Hello. This Device (SCH-R740C) is my little brothers old cricket device. He uses it with kik and things over wi-fi, we cancelled our cricket service. (they are not a help anyway) but he locked himself out. How would I get to the screen to factory reset it? (Nothing of importance is on the device)
