[Q] how to fix binking red light after flashing thunderzap - Sony Xperia L

I recently flashed the thunderzap kernel to my device using twrp. The installation completed perfectly but when I restarted my device, the screen would not turn on. There was a brief vibration and a red light started flashing on the phone but that is all:crying:. My battery was at 97% during install so it couldn't have been that. Any idea how to fix this?

And you're in what firmware??JB/Kitkat?
Thunderzap and Phantom doesn't support JB anymore..Only Civic Kernel but its still used the old one for Kitkat that doesn't support latest Kitkat Roms

Seems like your device was under volt beyond it could function.
if you can go in recovery, reflash any custom ROM without any custom kernel (civic, thunderzap etc.)
You can also use fastboot commands to flash kernel from custom ROM (PAC/Slimkat/CM etc) you are using.
Reinstall FTF using flash tool if you can't do any of above.
If you need any other help, do quote me

Thank you for your reply. I was not able to enter recovery due to my inability to start the phone. My bootloader is apparently locked so i cannot flash any ROMs or kernels, and flash tool freezes when identifying device then says the bootloader cannot be unlocked even though I checked while the phone still worked and it can be unlocked. Fastboot getvar does not give me my IMEI so i cannot unlock my bootloader the sony way either. Fastboot and flashmode are the only ways i can interface with my device. Please help.

Use flashtool.
download flashtool for Xperia. (Google it)
download ftf file from xperia L general section.
@Joel16 has a proper guide as well.
HERE
Flash ftf and you are good.
You don't need to unlock your device. However you will need drivers for fastboot mode which I have posted in general section as well.
Details HERE
Check this to find out how to flash FTF
HERE
Or alternatively, you can use Sony Companion in which you would be guided step by step and you would not need to download anything manually than the software itself. However you would still need drivers

Thank you for your help. I followed your instructions and attempted to flash the stock firmware but I got this error:
-INFO -For flashtool, Unknown sources and Debugging must be checked in phone settings
The last time I checked, these two options were enabled. I have no idea what to do. Is it possible to fix this?

too little Information I am afraid. can you send me the Log for flashtool and maybe take a screenshot of it as well.
I am suspecting you do not have proper drivers Installed.
visit general section and look for zperia L driver by me (hnk1)
I might have posted a link above too.
Try the process again after installation of drivers and If it doesnt work, quote me again with log n screenshot

Thanks for the help.
But flashtool was working fine before the incident. Thing is I was flashing different kernels (thunderzap 4.1) on the second or third try I think I corrupted the kernel...
I cant go into recovery or fastboot mode.

[Q] Xperia e bootloop error - search fixes not working

I have an Xperia E (Single Sim).
I have unlocked the bootloader using the official Sony method and, as it seems, like many before me, my phone is stuck in a bootloop.
I have tried the solution noted here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=40911422 by bg.shishir
Unfortunately when I run flashtool the following is the outcome
21/034/2013 01:34:20 - INFO - <- This level is successfully initialized

I'm guessing it might be something to do with USB debugging being off, but because it is stuck in a bootloop I can't get into the phone to change that.
Am I doing something wrong? Any help would be much appreciated, as my phone is effectively bricked! I just want to get it working again - nothing more.
Xperia factory reset method
Update - I have got it working again!!! Woohoo.
Now you custom ROM peeps won't like this fix - but for the likes of me who just got real scared thinking my phone was bricked, its exactly what I wanted.
This fix takes you back to the original ROM. I'd seen someone else mention it, but didn't understand the post. So, if you come across this one and you are like me.... (well, let's hope you're not, but hey!)... then this is what you do:
1) Download and install the official Sony PC Companion.
2) Click on the Support Zone button
3) Click on Software update
4) The next screen has a repair my phone link (not the button on the bottom - read the everything on the screen and you should find it)
5) click here and follow the instructions
I'm presuming that this has just created the standard ROM on my phone, but its working like it should.
I got so stressed over this, so if you need anything explaining above, just post a message and I'll try to help.

How to root your 'Sony Xperia E C1504/C1505'

Hello!
This is an easy to follow guide for everybody wanting to root their Sony Xperia E C1505 (Locked Bootloader).
Disclaimer! Proceed at your own risk! I am not responsible if anything happens to your phone. Although if you follow every step carefully, you won't have any problems. Also back up your data!
Lets talk a little bit about root and why rooting is needed. Well, actually, rooting isn't needed, but if you have a rooted phone, you realize how much more you could actually do with your phone. All these apps that require root, custom ROMs, overclocking and much, much more!
Make sure USB Debugging and Unknown Sources are enabled!
First off, we are gonna grab the stuff that we need:
·Flashtool
·Framaroot APK (Download the latest version)
·Sony Xperia E Stock Firmware 11.3.A.0.47
·Sony Xperia E Stock Firmware 11.3.A.2.23
Once you have downloaded everything, install Flashtool. Run it.
Select the lightning icon and click Flashmode.
Select the 11.3.A.0.47 Firmware and click flash.
Boot your phone into Flashmode by doing the following - Unplug your phone, turn it off, hold down the volume down key and then connect the USB cable.
Once it's flashed, unplug and turn on your phone. By the way, WiFi will not work, but oh don't worry .
Now go back to Flashtool, connect you phone and select the Arrow icon and locate where you saved Framaroot. Install it.
Now on your phone open up Framaroot. Make sure SuperSU is selected and click on Gandalf.
It should say that it has successfully rooted (Sometimes on the first try it might freeze, just click the home button and kill the task, then re-open it). Now reboot your phone.
Once rebooted, go back to Flashtool, with your device connected and select the Lightning icon and Flashmode. This time though, you are gonna select the 11.3.A.2.23 Firmware. Click flash.
Boot your phone into Flashmode the same way we did earlier. Let it flash.
Once it's finished, you should have successfully rooted your phone. Now everything should be working, including WiFi.
LET THERE BE ROOT!
If this guide helped you, then please click thanks!
Any questions? Just ask them and I'll answer!

I'm about to try this method on an Xperia C1504, is it ok to go ahead? I mean, has anyone tested it successfully on the C1504? I'm on f/w build 11.3.A.2.13 at the moment, bootloader unlockable: No.
Is there a chance that trying this will brick the phone?
ed: Just tried the first flashing step, unfortunately it ended with errors:

Any clues what I did wrong there?
ED1: Found this post, followed that sequence and it worked! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=44170201&postcount=5
ED2: Oddly enough, WiFi worked fine after flashing 11.3.A.0.47. However, the "arrow" icon in FlashTool was disabled, so I couldn't install Framaroot from there. Instead I booted the phone, installed ES File Explorer from the Play Store (the phone didn't have its own file explorer app) and installed the Framaroot APK from there (after copying the APK onto the phone from the computer). Framaroot ran and successfully rooted! (I had tried Framaroot on the original firmware, but it did not work). Yippee!
ED3: One odd thing now, I can't seem to get it into flash mode, to flash back to 11.3.A.2.23. Checked all the settings, debugging, etc. everything looks ok. Strange. But if WiFi is currently working ok in 11.3.A.0.47, is there any reason to flash back to 11.3.A.2.23?

Try what Dzepar said ....though i dont thinkl usb debugging is even necessary when andriod is off....(mine both usb debug&unkonwn sources is off but flashing still works...)
try these if above fails too
if you still have cwm/twrp... do factory reset in it..then try
in fastboot mode flash another kernel and then try flashing (connect phone in fastboot before selecting the thunder button to flash)
check if latest flashtool /redownload flashtool
Went to third party mobile service and got stock ROM installed. They installed 11.0.A.4.25, with some weird vodafone bloatwares. But a new problem is that when i go to service menu>service info>configuration>Bootloader unlock Allowed:yes., this means i can unlock BL. But when i try using flashtool it says Your phone bootloader cannot be officially unlocked. What should i do now?

The strange thing is that the phone does not actually get disconnected, windows doesn't even play the disconnection sound and the green light signifying flash mode stays on.
I've tried flashing 2 different MM ftf files and 2 different Oreo files but it always stops at the same point. I cant use fastboot because my bootloader is still locked. I can't even unlock it because the guides i was following don't even mention enabling OEM unlock until after the flashing is done...
I tried repairing with xperia companion but it always fails with basically no information. I feel like I can still rescue the phone because i have flash mode, fastboot mode and when i power on, it shows the Sony logo and then "software update failed". Also, the phone shows up as SOMC flash device when plugged in in flash mode(if that helps). Pls what do I do from here?

I just tried that and tried to flash a couple more times, sometimes it stops at "Opening device for R/W", other times it stops at "Opening TA partition 2" and then some how disconnects and reconnects.
This all started because i tried to downgrade from Oreo to MM.

I've installed all the drivers and the latest flashtool but still the same problem. It's just annoying that there's no error message......

Is Root Possible On My Model/Firmware?

G8142 - 47.2A.10.107
Is it possible? I want to know before I risk bricking my device
I just tried 2 days ago and semi bricked mine. I was able to unlock the bootloader and install trwp
But I tried to install a custom rom i was not able to. I attempted to revert back and was not able to set it into flashmode which is the only issue i am having in order to bring the phone back to life.
I do have TRWP installed and able to set it to and communicate with FASTBOOT/ADB just not able to set it to FlashMode
i am the same configuration as you before i started to customize it
G8142 - 47.2A.10.107
Hopefully this answer your question and maybe some old Guru can help shed some light on this for you as well for me.
Thanks for your reply! Where you able to root and get back into stock firmware before trying to flash the custom rom?
I just want to be able to have root and continue using stock FW.
Sorry to hear about your device though.

Use Sony"s Emma to reinstall the firmware and start all over again. I've done it MANY times!

Once your bootloader is unlocked, its simple. Install twrp with fastboot, flash magisk in twrp and reboot.

I attempted carbon, existence, and lineage 16.0 none of them actually worked and all they do is loop when initial start up. keep getting start up set up to crash. I think i officially killed the phone. now i cant load TWRP.
I can set flash mode and attempted to load with newflasher and flashtool by Androxyde. I keep getting a error on both when i attempt to install OEM firmware for my phone.

There shouldn't be an issue getting flash mode unless you're having issues with your volume button, in which case a little pressure on the back of the phone where the vol button is should fix that or go into flash mode from flashtool.
Then just use Emma. No errors; no hassles. Stock firmware.

yea pending on emma approval. Well initially it starts in flash mode and it stays lit green. however everytime i run the setup i run into the issue on both flash tools? not sure what i exactly is wrong will try with another cable to see if it makes a difference.
on flashtool i keep hanging on sending sync, the system times out and then stops responding and exits on flashtool by Androxyde. Right after it connects again with no issue.
Please connect your device into flashmode.

Definitely look into a different cable and/or port on your computer, Something is causing it to disconnect.
The only way I know of to install twrp is with a computer and if you're having a connection issue....plus not having usb debugging. Did you try going into recovery to see if it's still there? I've wiped my os before and still had recovery installed until I re-installed another firmware. Also on windows I always make sure that windows is not set to power off usb. This mostly there for laptops to save battery but I uncheck the box for all ports.

Update:
Changed Cable and that did the trick via flashtool, and I was able to use Newflasher as well.
I was able to install via flashmode but after 15 min on xperia boot screen it does nothing
same for NewFlasher
Running out of ideas now.... any input would be great. Otherwise I will not be able to use the phone anymore. Maybe I can install Oreo OS and not the latest to see if there is a possibility to recover it.
Still pending on my approval for EMMA to attempt to recover it.
Not sure what you mean "pending approval". There's a link on the web to download a version that doesn't require a password. Do a search and you should find it. Once installed, it will update if needed, and then you connect your phone and it will give a list of firmware. Once you choose the one you want it'll take a bit to download (depending on internet speeds). Once it's downloaded it will install and you have a fresh device. That particular firmware version will be stored on the computer if you need to do this again avoiding the download part, unless you chose a different version firmware.
Did you check to see if you still have a recovery installed? If you do, do a full wipe before newflasher. If you don't or that doesn't work go with Emma. I don't use newflasher or flashtool for firmware anymore unless there's firmware that doesn't show up on Emma that I want to install. Newflasher is useful if you're wanting to preserve user data. In your case that's gone anyway.

When using newflasher, are you flashing the complete firmware files? I mean, have you deleted anything (ta files, user data) before flashing?

Yes I have removed the TA files from root directory and from boot folder.
Final Update:
After installing OS from EMMA, I was able to bring back the phone.
Thank you everyone for the help. Going back to the initial question that was asked for this thread.
Plain and simple the answer is Yes. if by chance you get the phone in a bad state it is possible to restore.

That was your problem i would say, deleting files. You dont have to delete ta files from firmware for newflasher, you flash them as well with emma or flash tool.

Most Tutorials were saying to remove them. I did not find one page saying to keep them.
