Sprint Galaxy S4 (SPH-L710)
Followed tutorial at
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2415587
to unlock SIM for GSM.
Experienced some difficulties on MDC flashing back to MF9, especially using links provided in the tutorial.
WiFi stopped functioning, couldn't make calls, and camera stopped working. Decided to switch from Stock to Cyanogenmod to see if it would help.
Used CWM, installed Cyanogenmod 10
WiFi worked again, Camera worked again, pretty much everything functioning normally, except:
Can't make calls, watch videos, do anything that produces or receives audio.
If I try to listen to music, I get errors saying the program is ending, especially saying DSP sound manager has stopped
Decided to try upgrading, upgraded to (currently running) 11-20141013-NIGHTLY-jflte
Android 4.4.4
Baseband: L720PUEMJA
Kernel version
3.4.104-Cyanogenmod-g52b4b50
[email protected] #1
Still can't listen to music, make calls, watch videos, record audio notes, use soundhound/shazam, the list goes on.
Basically, from what I can tell, the software just has no way to access the microphone and/or speakers, and won't allow me to do anything with the phone that uses them. I should add that everything else functions normally: SMS, internet, everything, all function as normal even on a GSM SIM card that I am now using in the phone.
Anyone have any ideas of how I can restore audio functionality to my phone? Obviously I know I did something along the way that affected this, but I'm not sure if it's with the modem, software, etc... Any and all help will be appreciated. If you need any more information I'm happy to provide it.
Hi,
Are you sure it's an L710? Cause that's an S3. If it is an S3 and you flashed anything made got an S4...that could easily explain your issues.
Can you confirm whether you have an S4 or an L710 S3 before I point you in a direction for help?
Thanks!

Sorry, yes it's an S4, SPH-L720.
In a bit of a hurry, so I typed 710 on accident.
To the best of my knowledge, I have flashed all S4-intended software to the phone.
In that case, I would suggest maybe you return to stock with Odin. If you need help, you can ask here,
> Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 > Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting > [NOOB FRIENDLY] Sprint Galaxy S4 Questions Thread - ALL Are Welcome!
And here is a very useful thread, your firmware for flashing with Odin is here as well, and much more...

Thanks for your help!
One more question before I begin my journey back into stock ROM/Firmware:
When I return to Stock, do you think I will lose functionality on my GSM SIM card?
I've been reluctant to return to Stock mostly because I'm afraid it will "undo" the GSM/carrier unlock, which is basically the reason I started this process in the first place. I'm Studying abroad currently and for obvious reasons trying to keep the phone functional on a European (GSM) network.
You'd have to ask on the first thread I linked. ?
Thank you. Thread closed.

Hello XDA:
I have been having an issue with my Samsung Galaxy s3 ever since returning to Canada.
To provide some background information, I was living in the UK for a year and I accidentally bricked my phone. It was a hard brick and barely recoverable. Thankfully, I was able to find a technician/electrical engineer who had the appropriate packages and know-how to rescue the phone, and he reinstalled a stock Canadian ROM with Android Version 4.4. Or so it seemed. I will include the information below but what was odd about this was that it came with the stock apps for both TELUS and Rogers installed.
Anyway, here is my mobile information following the fix:
Model #: SGH -i747M
Android Version: 4.4.2
Baseband Version: I747MLUFNF2
Kernal Version: 3.4.0-1784548, [email protected] #1
Build #: KOT49H.I747MVLUFNF2
Following the technician's fix, I had full capabilities with my phone while still in the UK. Without issue. However ever since returning to Canada, I have not been able to connect to the data network. Even though the data connection setting is active and I am most certainly in range of my mobile provider. I have also confirmed with TELUS that I have active data allocation, and thus it is not an issue on their end.
Please let me know if anyone is able to direct me to a thread that may provide a solution to this. Is it an issue with the radio? I may attempt to flash a custom ROM if all else fails, however I am apprehensive to try this again as I messed my phone up the first time; it has been some time since I did this.
Anyway, I look forward to hearing from someone.
Thanks in advance!
Bryan J.
Hi,
In settings, mobile networks, access point names, be sure yours match the first set of settings in this thread,
> AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III > AT&T Galaxy S III General > TELUS APN settings - November 6, 2012
If that doesn't help, or you need more help with anything... Please post in your devices q&a section...
> AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III > AT&T Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
Good luck!
Thanks!
Hey KJ;
Just wanted to let you know that I entered the APN information in manually, and the data connection worked!
Thanks so much for referring me to that information, I would have never thought to have set those settings manually (sadly).
I really appreciate your help!
Have a great day.
Bryan

Hi guys, I have a samsung gt i9300 international bought it last week with android 4.1.1 stock. I upgraded it to 4.3 and then suddenly it could not perform any gsm related action like calling, texting internet etc with a NOT CONNECTED ON NETWORK error message.
I did my homework and found out that
1. the imei beneath the battery is different from the one inside the phone via #*06#
2. I have a generic imei with 00449 etc....
3. I did not backed up the efs folder and ever since I paniced and changed like 10 roms without succeeding.
4. I found out that the solution is to recover my imei
Now I have tried many ways to recover but failed. Is there a way somebody may suggest may be I have not used that one?
Thanks for your time guys I appreciate.

I assume that you have already tried this method: [GUIDE] Recover your IMEI in 9 steps..
If not, please do so.
If it doesn't help, check this thread: Samsung Galaxy S III I9300, I9305 > Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting > [Q] Generic IMEI 0049990106400 / 01.
It's about the same issue and has some useful answers.
If nothing helps, please ask the question in the [HELP THREAD] Galaxy S3 Ask any question. thread.
Best place to get quick help for your device IMO.

Hi Chris,
you can check this thread: [q] sph-l710t? by dev-meepo.
Seems that your device is similar to the Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III (SPH-L710).
So the rooting guide of this device will work for you too: Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III > Root.
But I am not sure about that.
So best to ask in the Sprint Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting or the [HELP THREAD] Ask ANY Question. Noob Friendly. thread before.
Good luck !
I'm currently running 4.4.2 with root on Samsung note 3 N900A. I've unlocked the device so I'd like to know how to update to 5.0 without losing the unlock. I've never flashed roms before but if I have to will I lose the unlock? I can't switch to AT&T since i'm in Australia.
Thanks

Hello, and welcome to XDA!
Luckily, upgrading/changing ROM's does not affect the SIM (un)lock status. If you are SIM unlocked (btw, by the model number of your phone, you have the AT&T version), upgrading will not change that status.
This thread will provide your OTA details:
> AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note 3 > AT&T Galaxy Note 3 General > [ROM][Guide][FULL ODIN FILES][ATT][OC1][OTA with KEEP ROOT][Soft Brick FIX]
Post 4 is convoluted, it should help on rooting the phone for Lollipop if the above leaves you with an unrooted phone (and if you wanted root - I imagine so, to freeze/get rid of the AT&T bloat).
> AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note 3 > AT&T Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting > [Q] Att Note 3 on Lollipop
Any questions, can ask in either of the above mentioned threads, once you have an XDA account.
Hope this helps, and good luck!

Hi
I tried to follow along with the instructions but there wasn't enough information for me to follow along. I was unable to understand what tools and applications were being used and ended up wiping my entire device.
If there is a more detailed set of instructions that would be great. I am also unable to use Odin as I have a mac. Tried running it in vmware but I just keep getting errors.
Thanks

If you are using a Mac, scope this thread out:
> AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note 3 > AT&T Galaxy Note 3 General > [12/29] Restore for MJ5 --Doesn't trip Knox and optionally provides root
Heimdall is crossplatform. Read the thread, then ask there how the steps will be different for your situation (Mac of course; also detail what the exact Android version & build number you are coming from - found in settings -> about phone - to make sure there are no conflicts)
I won't know the answer to that question - they will.
Hope this helps.
