[Q] Rogers RazrHD and Kitkat means no LTE, right? - RAZR HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just to confirm, after a lot of searching and flashing roms and generally wasting my afternoon, there's no Rogers modem_signed for kitkat, or any that's compatible with Rogers yet?
I tried installing the CEE JB and OTA KK this afternoon, and it installed fine, just no LTE, and of course the JB Rogers modem_signed just breaks the wifi and radio, so that's a no-go.
Is there another KK modem_signed that would work with Rogers bandwidth? 700/1700 (17/4) LTE?

It came out just a few weeks after your post. November 21 or so, Rogers/Fido released their update.

[Q] Canadian Xoom ICS?

I just got an open box Xoom that seems to be a Canadian version (or at least all the updates come from a .CA address). The ICS upgrade isn't coming up as an available download. Does anyone know if it is possible to load the US ICS upgrade and if so, where to download the package?
Just a little more information... It came with Android 3.0 and got the updates to 3.2. Now when I check for updates it says there are none available. I know ICS has been released in Canada so if getting that package is a better upgrade option I'll take it. It is a Model MZ604 Wifi only if that helps.

It would be much appreciated to let the forum know what model xoom you have (like Wifi or MZ604 or wingray etc...) The different xoom models have slightly different ways of getting ICS.
Here's what I have to offer as advice. Don't take my word for it, but if you want the stock, non-rooted, official US MZ604 ICS version of android for your Canadian Xoom, you'd probably have to load the U.S. stock honeycomb images onto your xoom, and that will allow you to accept the OTA updates that eventually lead up to the latest version of android ics 4.0.4. This assumes that you have a Wifi Only xoom MZ604. By loading the U.S firmware, the xoom will pick up the ICS update intended for the U.S. Wifi Xoom
If you want to find those images: go to http://developer.motorola.com/products/software/ . You will need to sign up for an account, but the account is free and gives you the real, stock factory images for the xoom.
If you have a xoom that uses 3G/4G service, the only option that comes to mind is too root an apply a custom rom onto your xoom. Wesamothman has good guides in the Xoom General forum for doing that.
When you are at the site, look for the M
@Yosterwp,
I am thinking today to combine a general guide for all xoom types rooting and ICS ROM flash (custom). So that it would be one thread post for all xooms
And thanks for appreciating the guides...
@Newanzer, Yostewp is correct. I won't doubt his judgments / methods...

Sorry I should have included that. It's a WiFi only MZ604. I'll edit the original post with it as well. I'm kind of thinking of keeping it all stock for now instead of trying to rebuild it, so I'd like to get ICS 4.0.3 for Canada if possible.
I have been reading other forums about this issue as well. I've tried the clear framework data fix with no luck. Some are saying I need to set my date back to day of release. I may try that tonight. The OTA method seems flaky. I'm surprised they don't have a manual update download option.
Thanks for the reply.

I have the Canadian Xoom (MZ604) as well. I got tired of waiting and tried this shortly after ICS was released to the US version and it totally upgraded. It was a bit tedious to start at 3.0 again and run all the updates just to get to ICS but everything has been fine.

Update to Jelly Bean if Rooted?

Hi all, I have the Verizon GS3 (SCH-I535). When I first got it, I flashed it using this guide - I apparently installed a rom by invisiblek that stripped out a lot of the applications. Well, since I'm a first time smartphone user, I asked in that thread that since my G3 was now rooted if I should accept OTA updates in the future, to which one person told me no. Last night I got a notification that my phone wanted to update to Jelly Bean, so now I'm not sure what to do. I don't accept the update because it will brick my phone, right? And if that's the case, where do I download a rooted version of Jelly Bean for it? (I searched this forum but couldn't really find anything other than people's custom versions, like Slimbean). I'm really confused with all the different rom versions available for the different carriers and models, though I suspect I can only use one for Verizon. Side question too - "rooted" is a modified version of an official OS release, right? It's not a method of installing an OS, it's an actual modified version, right? And if I want Jelly Bean, I have to continue using these modified versions, right?

Jellybean has not been officially released in any capacity to the Verizon GSIII. The update you see is roughly 30mb at the most, it's an incremental update at best from when you purchased the phone. No, it will not brick your phone. If you have a custom recovery then the update will fail. If you do not have a custom recovery then the update will unroot and unlock the bootloader and install successfully. We're months away from a Verizon update to Jellybean.

Download custom roms from the development section. Only flash roms for the Verizon GSIII aka d2vzw. These custom roms are people's different versions of the software available for our phone either officially or in jellybean's case unofficially.

"Rooted" just means the user (you) have the ability to make changes to the system or root of the device that are not possible for stock non-rooted users. Just rooting your device means you gained administrator access to the system but nothing is changed until you install roms or other mods.
There is a truly great post in the development section by DroidStyle that details EVERYTHING you need to ask as a beginner. Here:

Ah, I see, I thought it was JB since there were reports of people in some countries getting the JB update today. Coincidental timing!
Anyways, I went through with the update but it failed.

Ah I see, so if I were to download something that's JB, it's just someone's "fan" version of it? And the JB version that leaked to the international phones today won't work on our Verizon ones?
Thank you for your help!

My pleasure, no worries! I have to much respect for any dev who undertakes developing or porting roms to call it a fan version. It's best to refer to it as "customized" which is what they are: custom versions of what may or may not be available.
Nah, unless there is a leak for the Verizon Jellybean update consider any news you hear/see about GSIII updates as completely useless unless Verizon is mentioned. The international version has completely different hardware inside the phone so any roms meant for that device will not work in the USA GSIII. You also can't actively flash another carrier's roms for this phone, it's not suggested and has the potential to render your device unresponsive.

[Q] Skyrocket on Telus - But want to use Telus LTE

Hello I've been viewing for a while haven't posted cause I've had no real solid input or questions but after some in-depth searching for a few weeks I simply cannot find a way to get LTE with Telus and the skyrocket.
I don't want to flash the Telus radios in this area of the forums because it's made for the T989d. That radio will only give me HSPA+.
So I tired flashing the latest Telus S3 radio and for a while I was getting LTE fairly regularly except the baseband version in about still showed the original version for Rogers and I have no idea if it actually flashed.
I recently flashed Slim Bean 4.2.2 v4.2 and it's running great and so I went to flash the S3 radio again and about still doesn't show the new version, yet according to TWRP the flash was successful. I have yet to see LTE since flashing just "H" and "H+".
Is the S3 radio really any different from the skyrocket? and if so are there any Telus LTE compatible phones similar (WRT the radio) to the skyrocket that I can take a radio from?
Thanks in advance

[Q] LTE with 4.4.4 Paranoid Android on Rogers

Let me preface this by saying that I have searched and searched for an answer, so if someone is able to point me to a relevant thread that can fix this issue I would be super grateful.
I have a rogers XT925 which I have managed to put the 4.4.4 P.A. firmware on after flashing to the RTRF KK update. I love this ROM (although I am a newbie to customs) and all seems to be working fine, but I have not been getting LTE service since the update. The best I have is H+ right now. Rogers is my carrier and I was receiving LTE from the stock JB firmware. I talked with customer service and set up the proper APN (found the info online, but wanted to verify it through Rogers). I have messed with the settings and put it to Global for network. I also did the #*#* thing and made sure it was set to LTE as well. Still nothing. I can only imagine that it is the modems that are not correct, but I don't really know. Has anyone else had this issue with P.A.?
Any one have a possible solution?
Thanks
I don't think the retail France modem supports Rogers LTE. You may need to try the BR modem but if you can't do that or it does not work you may be stuck waiting to see if Rogers ever releases a KK update to use the official modem before it will work again or try to downgrade back to JB.

Android M for H810PR?

Will a rooted 810PR ever get Marshmallow? More discussion than question.
Apparently yes. We will have to wait tho
Does it Include ClaroPR G4s?
We don't know yet. Regular ATT hasn't even gotton the update yet, and no other carriers in the US have it for their G4 as well.
