Can anyone recommend ear buds with pause and volume buttons (like the one that comes with the Note 4) that's in black? If I remember correctly, most (all?) 3rd party headphones with volume buttons didn't work on the note 2.
I'll test my Amazon magnetics when I get my N4 tomorrow. Worked great with N3...
Try the xiaomi piston, there's 3 buttons: volume up and down with pkay/pause. I tried it on shuttle+ player and it works great.
Just following up the Amazon magnetic earbuds working great. Pause/play for Google Music, hangs up if on a call (not a mute button!). I've got a semi-thick Spigen 'tough armor' case and has no issues getting full connection or blockage from the wrapper, etc.
Well, I can recommend some black earbuds with inline mic/controls that are FANTASTIC.... they're just not wired I've got the Jaybird Bluebuds X bluetooth earbuds, they're hands down the best earbuds I've ever owned. Little on the $$ side at around $130 - $160, but TOTALLY worth it. The sound quality is amazing, they actually sound better than my wired Bose earbuds (given, they're the lower end of the Bose line, but still!). The mic and controls all work great, I get good feedback all the time for call clarity when using them and the controls do what they're supposed to. And best of all, no cords to get knotted up! Basically it's just the earbuds with a single flat cord running between them, the buds are barely bigger than normal wired earbuds, I don't even notice a difference. Battery life is 8 Hours of play time/30+ hours standby on a full charge and I've confirmed that through my own use, I'm definitely not constantly worried about running out of juice. All in all I highly recommend them!
Thanks for the responses.. I'd never heard of Xiaomi, but after reading a review I decided to order a set and give them a whirl.
What about the Samsung HS130, they are $20 but if you create a new Samsung account online and register your note you should get 50% coupon. The HS330 are $30 but white.
The problem with buying them cheaper from Amazon 3rd party or Ebay is that a lot of people claim to have received fakes. Even reading reviews on Pistons on Amazon there are a lot of people that claim fakes though mostly they are other sellers. The ones under $20 for the most part ship from Asia.

It's a great pair for the value. Make sure you get it from a legit buyer (I bought it on amazon but make sure you read the reviews).

You will like the Xiaomi. Make sure you get a real set and not a fake set. I have been very very happy with these for the the price of $24 bucks. I use the eq on the note 4 and they sound even better now.
I was a bit worried about getting fakes. I got these ones.

I'm conflicted on which bluetooth headphone to go with. I'm looking to spend less than $40 with good audio quality, comfort, and battery life. So far I'm debating between the motorola S305 and the rocketfish RF-MAB2. Anyone have experience with both of these? if so pros/cons? Thanks!

He's talking about BT headphones... anyway,
I personally have both the Moto S9 and the Samsung WEP 870. I like the 870 because the buds that come with it are the sound isolating kinds and the sound quality is about 7.5/10, and that's pretty good considering its hard to find good quality stereo BT headphones...
thanks for the suggestions but i was looking to get the over the ear type (not the ones in ear since i plan to use them during running and i'd like to hear cars come up on me, feel safer than having the in ear plus i feel more comfortable wearing the over the ear too)
I bought the S305 when newegg had them on sale a few months back, 29.99 shipped. I love them, i use them all the time. I can be listening to music on my laptop while at work and if i get a call, it will switch over for me. I also use them when im working out, and they never move. Seem very comfortable to me, really good sound i think. I can get about 3 hours continuous use out of them. A couple days of sparatic on/off just watching videos at lunch or something.
Bonus: comes with a micro usb charger for them that just happens to fit my phone perfectly.
I have used the Motorola one and found it very uncomfortable.
Its more expensive then you wanted but it does allow you to use higher quality headphones or ones you already own.

Hello everyone,
I found this headset Bayerdynamic MMX 101 iE accidentally just a while ago.
If anyone has tried it, can you please write your review here?
Edit: Is the sound quality good? Microphone quality? Compatibily with Desire?

This has caught my eyes since a few day ago but I can not find any reviews at all.
So, any words for this headset will be very appriciated since I need one right now.
Edit: Sorry misstyping by Beyerdynamic , it should be Bayerdynamic

Well...€99 still belongs to the middle class..there are still more with more expensive.
I think the price range between €70-€100 is the correct range for me, more than €100 is a bit too expensive.
Remember you get what you pay.
That type is competely new and there is still no real review available...perhaps I just have to wait for some time until the review is there.

I have found several good ones above €100 but I am not planning to go that high.
It was launched during the musikmesse/music fair just a while ago so..it's kinda new and still without any convincing review.
I will have to wait until there are more review.
Hi Im fairly new to these forums but i can tell you that you cant go wrong with these. I bought these about a week ago and have been nothing short of stunned by the quality. They have great bass and really crisp clear midrange. I would say that these are better than the sennheisers and klipschs s2i that i have.
One thing to note is that make you play around with the earbuds as if you get them wrong they sound really flat and dull so make sure you get them to seal in your ears properly.
It is also a coincidence, yesterday I met some in train on the way home after work.
I asked if I can use it for a couple of minutes in the train, and he said yes.
My review within a few minutes:
1. sound quality is incredible for the price.
2. mic is also good.
3. unfortunately, no volume control or whatsoever except a button to pick up and hang up the call. (not really a big problem, not really in need of a mic and pick up button anyway).
4. metal housing for the ear pieces is awesome.
5. the cable looks extremely fragile to me. it is thin, not braided, etc.
(I am not sure of getting this headset because of this. This is the biggest downside. My current in-ear headphone (Klipsch Image S3) has just given up or lost its life just last night, the cable got broken again. The warranty is still there, but I don't want to claim it for the third time. I just prefer a new one instead of waiting weeks for claiming. It must be something wrong with how I store the headphone in my bag ).
6. Ear plug/bud don't fit my ears perfectly, I have tried on the one attached tho'. (It could be another problem)
I also found Philips SHO9560 (O'Neal stretch). It looks super robust but doesn't have good sound relatively compared to mmx-101i. Its look is also very appealing.
Now, I'm confused.
Way too expensive for me.
For the same price (or cheaper) I would get headphones/earphones from already proven company: Sennheiser.
Update:
Phillips SHO9560 sounds teribble.
MMX101ie doesn't really fit my ear...it comes off often (unless I get the individual package, but it is too expensive)...I don't wanna get an in-ear anymore...getting something which fits my ear is just a matter of luck...
No AKG products fits my huge head size (honest), I like the sound of AKG K518 but it is too small for my head, tried also 430, 420, 520, etc....
This is official! I hate AKG! This company never thinks of people with huge head like me! It is discrimination!
Sony XD300, XD500...sounds dark (bass too strong, trebble not clear)
Dr. Dre Solo HD is too expensive for the quality I am getting.
I will look for some more...Sennheiser, Denon, Bose, etc....
What I hate is that Desire can not really pull Sennheiser PXC450 (I own one at home and I use it mostly during flights or at home)....volume gets too low even on max.
Sh*t it is not easy to find the correct one!
Late response!
I just found this thread after looking into the MMX101 iEs myself - what was your solution in the end? I really like these headphones and fortunately they fit my ears; unfortunately though, the mic and answer button did not work, so I'm having to send them back. Hopefully the replacements will work fine!
Did you settle on over-ear headphones in the end? Given your situation I would have recommended the Sony MDR-V500 - great headphones, excellent range, solid bass response which is punchy but doesn't overwhelm the mid-range, and amazingly cheap considering!
Hope you managed to get this sorted anyway.
I've got these. Nothing short of awesome. The sound quality at all levels is incredibly crisp and you don't use any equaliser settings/tweaks as the ear phones sort all that out for you. Had mine for two years now and need a new set and will definitely buy the same ones again.
Also get 3 pairs of different size buds depending on what suits your ear best.

That does not depend on OS (Android, iOS, Windows). The "problem" is different layout of rings on the 3.5mm connector with different phone manufacturers ("microphone" and "ground" rings are swapped). It's natively compatible with iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, Blackberry and HTC. If you want them to work correctly with Nokia, Sony, Samsung, Motorola, LG and other models you have to buy a separate adaptor.
I bought V-Moda M100 in the end.
It is expensive but worth every single penny I spent

Hey all, so, my headphones finally broke after months of intense use (the left headphone doesn't work anymore, but the right one still does).
Does anyone have a cheaper recommendation other than the stock SGS4G headset? I love the thing, but I just wanna see what other possibilities there are. $30 for a headset seems like a pretty generous amount.

I use these I used them for running to. They have great bass sound.
I purchased the headset from AntonX's post. I'm waiting for them to arrive now. I'll keep you guys posted on whether or not it's comparable to the OEM headset.
Then again, it's shipped from Hong Kong, so I'm guessing it would be authentic Samsung...
On another note, I realize that ALL of my headphones always break from the connector. One of the earbuds always end up failing on me. I'm guessing it's because I don't store them away properly (I just coil it up and put it into my ass pocket). So...how do you guys keep your headphones safe?
I purchased them a month ago too. They are under dust in my bedroom corner. Poor sound, difficult to plug in properly to get the most sound. I dont think this is authentic from samsung. They r just fake.you get what you pay for

Hm, that's strange. I myself found links to these on xda I9000 accessory forum, and people who bought them didn't seem to complain and actually made impression that these were original Samsung OEMs. Well, the ones that came with the phone don't sound that great either, maybe just OK.

For anyone that may be remotely interested, timesaviour on Ebay (the seller mentioned by AntonX) has the OEM headset for Samsung Galaxy S I9000. All the headsets he sent me didn't seem to work for the SGS4G though (except for one that was actually a SGS4G OEM headset).
Still, he was cool enough to give me a refund for the defective ones.
I'll definitely be checking out the Skullcandy Ink'd Mic'd though. I've generally had great experiences with Skullcandy, and with warranty, why not!

If you get on ebay an search for best buy outlet, they usually have some great deals. I've bought 3 sets of insignia Bluetooth NS-BTHDP behind the head headsets. And they are really good. I paid $20 or less for each set from best buy on ebay. I hate the earbud kind. Oh these insignias were about $120 in stores when I bought them. I don't know how much they would be now. And they give you free shipping on them. So if you like Bluetooth headset id say check that out. And all mine were brand new still in original packaging. Hope this helps out.

You're not going to believe me but these are GREAT. Nothing compares to the sound of these within at least $30. And I have tried a ton of brands. Don't let the price deter you. It comes with 3 sizes of rubber fitting things.

Over-ear, traditional buds, or in-ear? Wired or blue-tooth.
My preference for workout is wired buds (I don't like the rubber in-ear ones as much). I have some Motorola, Senhouser (sp?), and an old pair from blackberry. I actually like the blackberry ones best. I see them offered all the time for $5 or so.
Degauss Pocket headphones don't work
I'm also on the hunt for headphones after switching from iPhone - I want in ear wired buds that let me use in-line controls. I ordered the Sol Republic Jax from the motorola website, which are single button version. With the headset control app, it works ok, letting me pause and play music, pick up calls, and even skip tracks and control volumes although with an annoying two (forward), three (back) and four (volume) clicks. But i think the mic is too far down the headphones, it knocks against my jackets and doesn't pick up sound well when i make calls outside, which is where i mostly use my headphones to make calls from.
So I ordered a pair of Degauss Labs Pocket headphones, advertised as 3 button android headphones. Got them today, they don't even work as single button headphones, so annoying. With the headphones plugged in and nothing playing, I can hear soft clicks when i press the buttons so I know something is being transmitted by the buttons, but nothing happens on my phone, even with the Degauss headphone controller app. Sad, because they're great looking headphones with good sound and the mic is positioned (logically) close to your face.
And the hunt continues - any suggestions for good earbuds with at least a 1 button but ideally 3 button in line control that isn't set up to be the Y splitter of the headphone cord (ie halfway down my body)?
Wired headphones I would like one with a mic so that. I. Don't have to touch my phone. I would like to be able to just leave it in my pocket and say " ok google play..." and well I guess use the same features as if the phone was on the table. Not sure if it would do that with just any hardphones since I don't have any yet.
I have seen the jay bird bluetooth ear buds are a winner with most people but don't know how they work on the moto x
LG HBS 900's.
Yuin Pk2 with Yurbuds sleeves. I own thousands upon thousands of dollars worth of headphones and those are my go-to set. Hands down the best sounding, most musical, and just downright fun pair of buds you can get for under $100. And the Yurbuds sleeves make them comfortable enough to wear all day long and improve the bass response a fair amount. They don't have any buttons, but I'd much rather have an amazing set of headphones with no buttons than a mediocre set with them.
I've got Shure E2Cs that are a decade old (amazing build quality), VSONIC R04 Pros and a couple sets of the $7 Monoprice earbuds. For the gym, running and general wandering around town, the monoprice ones are what I use. Pretty darn durable, sound pretty good and so cheap I don't worry about 'em. When you're moving you're going to be hearing your body and the cord and not paying that much attention, so why spend $$$ on anything other than good fit, decent clarity and some good bass?
I have Yamaha EPH100SL for mobility and Bowers & Wilkins P5 for everything else.
Jesus does anyone have anything reasonable in price that has a mic and controls?
These threads always turn into a brag fest who has the most expensive stuff.
I just got the Aftershokz Bluez 2 Bluetooth headphones and they are seriously slick. They use bone conduction and rest on your cheekbones in front of your ears so there is nothing that goes in or on your ears leaving them wide open. You can listen to music and still hear everything making them great for work. The sound quality isn't the greatest but considering their convenience, it's more than acceptable. They work as a normal bluetooth headset too so you can make calls with them too. I'd check 'em out, they're really neat!

Well, I use a cheap pair of old Blackberry ear buds most of the time, as I have a bunch of them and keep a set in the car, my desk, etc. I prefer the ear bud style to these new in-ear things. My recommendation is always Sennheiser. The old MX line are my choice if I don't want a microphone (based on them being buds). The new CX 5.00 look really nice. MM70s are probably the best suited to standard Android phones. I have HD 280 Pros for home use, about 4 times the size of my phone.
To use them at the gym, I would go bluetooth. Something like a Motorola S10, S11, or SF 500. They can be had for $50 or less and let you put your phone down someplace safe.
EtymotIc HF2. Same pair I've used for M8, Nexus 5, MotoX (OG). Nothing specific or special per phone.

soundmagic mp-21, but it just has one button, soundquality is excellent expecially for a set less than 30 euros, there also is the E10M, which has 3 buttons but only one works in android they say (but that might be oem specific) for less than 50 euros. Google them, I think many audiophiles believe you cannot get better value for money
I have my old Motorola X 2013 headphones, great enough
How about Amazon headphones. Well better than their $10 price tag and the magnet feature is cool.
I'm going to post this again..
Trust me on these GREAT sound. Arguably better than most in ear headphones under $50. You can't lose for $8.

I love these, you can't beat the value for there price of 20 bucks and they are 400% better then the included Samsung headset. I am using different adapters and was hoping they would fit on the MM30G. If there isn't that much of a size difference, I think they might work. Yeah, I was going to ask where you got it for 20 cause I can't find them for that price. Closest I can find is like almost $60usd. Appreciate the quick replies, man. If I can find them for around $30, I just might get them. I will still look for some different earphones til then.

Damn, with the exchange rate, it would've came out to about $26, but amazon.ca wouldn't let me ship those to my address. Thanks though.

Thanks, I'll look into them. If you took out the silicone pieces, are the parts where the audio come out the same dimensions as the oem Samsung earphones?
I'm coming from the gs3 earphones and heard the recent earphones are better so I thought I'd try them out. Thanks for your suggestions, but I am not looking for anything BT or over the ear type devices.

The build quality is better but the sound quality is not good. I started to use them first because they look ok and I was expecting them to be better but when I put on the backbeat fit for a workout I just understood how bad the sound is on the included earphones and how much of the music is lost. I am not an audiophile but I can notice obvious differences. And this is compared with bluetooth headphones which supposedly do not have as good sound as wired headphones.

Ohh...I guess I can ignore the newer OEM earphones then. I always wanted a wireless headset cause the cords always get caught on something. Only thing stopping me is that I just know I'll forget to charge them up. Do the bluetooth headphones eat a lot of the phone's battery?

Do you know if these headphones have different length wires for each ear? So you can put one of them behind your head. I recently got some popular Chinese ones that were recommended here. They sound great, but I really miss the behind the head wire feature.

I use mostly bluetooth headphones and I do not see it impacting the battery a lot but overall I am not so happy with the battery life of om Note 4 (910C model). Maybe because I have skype, lync, good and other stuff running all the time...
I also use the sennheiser mm30g... Only thing with them if you listening to music on full volume you need good quality audio, using Spotify definitely notice the difference between different audio bit rates... Also they have a great mic as I use it a lot and stock Samsung ones are junk imo for voice calls
I have these and love them.

Jay birds are one of my favorites
You could try the Etymotic MC2 and HF2 models, which are made to be compatible with controlling Android phones. They have them at Etymotic website but also on Amazon.
Will give you a heads up that while these are nice my experience is that, for heavy users who dont baby these things and keep them a bag and all that, they get beat up after a while - the cords fray. But the sound is pretty good.
The jaybird bluebuds x are hands down the best earbuds I have ever used. Absolutely love them.

Yeah, I just got them and really like them too. I bought them from Amazon but interestingly, this showed up on the Amazon site page for these in the last day or two:
------
Item Under Review
While this item is available from other marketplace sellers on this page, it is not currently offered by Amazon.com because customers have told us there may be something wrong with our inventory of the item, the way we are shipping it, or the way it's described here. (Thanks for the tip!)
We're working to fix the problem as quickly as possible.

Thanks for the late suggestions, but I ended up getting the sennheiser mm30g because that was suggested the most. I might look into the jaybirds in the future, but they are too expensive at the moment.
