need some guide about root and ect - LG G Pro 2

h there
i want to buy this phone..in my country it's been sold with no warranty..
so no worry about voiding warranty..
-what is the best method to root this device without any problem?
-do we have to flash stock recovery in order to gain root access?
-what is the part number for international version? by the way how many version is out there?
- gsmarena says " the battery performance is disappointing " are they right? what is the average " screen on " time ?
-the hardware is great.. what about the screen in sunlight?
-does this device get android L and when it will happen? what about G3 apps and theme and icons?
no further question..
appreciate you to share your experience with this device..

i want to buy this tomorrow . wait for your answers...

Root- Stump root is one click rooting method and you don't need recovery to gain root access.
Battery- 50% auto brightness, all day outside i get 4h 30min screen on without playing games, only browser, Skype, Viber, Youtube, Flipboard etc. on 3G. And my battery is 20%. If i am in my home at 0% brightness i have 6h screen on and the battery is 25%.
In sunlight the display is awesome.
Lollipop update and G3 apps... You need to ask LG.

thanks.. useful post..
one question.. your battery on auto brightness gives you 40h 30m screen on form 50% to 20% or from 100%?
and again at home at 0% brightness gives you 6h screen on from 50% or 100% ?
this device has both knock code and knock on.. right?
i'm just worry about battery drain.. but can be fixed by power bank..

Apologize. My brightness is set to 50% and auto mode. Screen on time is from 100% battery.
The device has both knock code and knock on. No battery drain.

Battery life on Max Brightness

hey guys
so i just got a screen privacy screen protector for my phone. i like it, but it makes my screen look too dark. when i max out the brightness, it brings back its original beauty
do any of you guys use your phone on max brightness everyday? i carry a charger with me but ive rarely needed to resort to it. my 8 hour work days are the biggest strain on my battery.
what rom/ kernel do you use to get good battery life? im running wanam lite and faux touchwiz kernel now.
I get up at 5:30 in the morning. From then on, my phone stays on battery until 10 at night. Still left with around 30% bettery life. But then, I only check facebook, 2 emails and xda forums. Not too much of videos nor games. Occasionally web browsing. Im not a heavy phone users.
Oh mostly stays on wifi rather than LTE. Not sure if that helps. Always max brightness.

I run mine at max brightness(dynamic mode) everyday and have no trouble make it through the day. My most recent 85% discharge(still had 30% plus around 9pm, played 2hr plus of videos to run up the screen time), from 5 am to 11 pm:
18hr+ run time, 3hr+ screen time. On touchwiz..
I can squeeze a full day of out the battery at full brightness.

Please do not ask what ROM/kernel gets you best battery life as every phone/user/setup/signal is different and all affect battery life. So what is best for one will not be best for another.
I use full brightness and I blow through my battery most days.. I don't consider myself a heavy phone user..
surf the net on wifi and on data plan through the day. I use the camera just about every day, some texting not a lot.
screen is 34% and google services is 39% how do shut off google services? or di I have to leave it on.
everything else is 5% or less..

I think you missed the point. If he didn't want a privacy screen protector he wouldn't have gotten it.
Always max screen brightness for me. I still get at least 15 hours use. Couldn't do this on the S3.

[Q]

Hi, I have a problem with the battery life of my z3 ( bought it more then a week ago ) .Lollipop was preinstalled . I know i should give the phone some time to"settle down" ( in xda i was told one week is ok) .but after the week i usually get 5h sot . So I did a factory reset .Used it for a day . The same problem, i got 5h sot on average. I disabled useless apps . Airplane mode was active when i had bad coverage( i was on wifi most of the time). Then i tried to solve the problem with root. Disabled and deleted every useless app. I used the app better battery stats.it showed me my phone uses 8-10%/h (sometimes even more).I compared it with the others. They usually had 2%h -5%/h . Some people said that lollipop drained the battery. So yesterday I installed kitkat . It's still the same .At this point i'm not quit sure what to do. I don't now if it makes sense to give kitkat another week .My usage was not heavy. I played games only a few times in the last week and only for a few minutes each time ( this was on lollipop ). When my phone is in deep sleep then their is no battery drain. I don't get it. I'm so annoyed . There was no app that was sucking battery. Display was the highest user.
I love this phone in every other aspect .Fast, smooth and looks awesome.
I hope you can help me out.

I will upload some screenshots when I'm at home. Hope this will give you more insight.

Really ?no one ? I'm sorry if I'm anoying but I am out of ideas
i get around 5 hours SOT, i dont see it as a problem.
Hmm but with which usage? I don't think that 5h sot are enough if the brightness is kept low and you don't play or anything on WiFi and airplane mode.it is even worse with Mobile data then my phone can't survive 5h maybe. I think 4h sot at best.
well if you put it that way:
I use my phone with STAMINA mode on 24/7, on wifi at home and LTE when im out (8 hours +), brightness varies as it depends where i am (mostly 50%?), some gaming in the morning and a whole lot of browsing and i get a range of 4.5 - 5.5 hours of SOT. It is really hard to really measure what is running in the background. I would suggest you flash another region's FTF if you know how to use flashtool. Maybe you can try some battery measurement app, like wakelock from the playstore. As far as i know those apps usually require root to produce more accurate data.
Aside from those, i would also suggest you block all background data when your mobile data is on and leave the messaging apps unblocked, settings/ data usage / click on the desired app and block background data, or you can just block all from the sub menu on the top right. I probably find flashing other region's ftf more effective, only do that if you know what youre doing.
also, judging with your screenshots, you dont seem to have Stamina mode on, i would advise you to turn that on along with queue background data in the power management section.
But with which usage? I only used it for Webbrowsing and texting and with low brightness . I have a decent standby time.
Oh alright I will try it. Should I take lollipop or kitkat as a rom? Sorry for the double post. I have a decent battery life in standby. Los only 1-2% at night. Thanks for the detailed reply.

Nougat Battery Drain

Android System is draining my battery and is keeping my device awake for more than 2 hours. Is anyone on Nougat suffering from this? I didn't have this high drain on Marshmallow, not sure what's causing this. All help, suggestions, and opinions welcome. Thanks in advance.
I am on Nougat 7.0, stock. Even after doing all the typical battery saving tweaks, I found that using the Google App and Google Play Services were consistently the highest battery drainers. Was getting 2-3% battery drain per hour, with minimal or idle use. For the Google App, I ultimately had to stop using and disable Google Now Cards to eliminate that app's drain as nothing else worked. Still working on the drain on Google Play Services as that one still shows up but not as high as before, but am now getting close to 1% drain per hour on idle use.
my phone had no facebook, messenger barely go to google play, not setup google now. using nova launcher. all I used is twitter, google+, instagram, photo (backup), SAO game, and others living app. turn on GPS on high used too. battery live until night.
Are you guys rooted?
I used the Boost app that was introduced in the update, kills all processes you want it to with the smart feature, but has a weird side effect of being unable to download anything when it's in the background, just gotta hold the app open until it's done downloading. Battery life is fine for me, since using this.
Yes I am root. Boost app really to frozen the apps when phone off. but message and info still got intouch
My Sprint HTC One A9 phone is rooted, S-off, unlocked, flashed with TWRP 3.0.2-0 am on 6.0.1 and I am experiencing the same battery drain issue. I have tried multiple battery conditioners with no affect upon the battery life. It still drops very quickly and the phone will power off at about 25 - 30% battery left on the phone. Boot into TWRP and find the battery level states at 37 - 45%. Let the phone sit on TWRP screen for hours and it never powers off.
I cannot figure this out and am about to wipe my phone and start all over again.

Use ADB to flash TWRP and boot it up. Mount /system read only. Flash Magisk. Now you've got root.

Worth rooting? Can it improve my battery life?

Hey guys! Been getting around 4h SOT as highest on my device, AOD turned off, 30-50 % brightness, fhd+ and dark theme.
Can get through the day but can't get a minute more than 4h sot which seems weird.
It's not that I think the battery life is absolute ****, I'm okay with it, the thing that sort of "bothers" me is that i see people getting like 6-10h SOT on like 2 days of charge which seems unbelievable to me.
Now on to the question,
is my utterly **** 4g signal preventing me from reaching 6-7 h SOT or is it just that I'm "unlucky" with the battery lottery.
Is it fair to expect a 6-7h SOT if i do decide to root and flash something like a notorious kernel and a rom?
Which I know will permanently void my warranty.
Or should I return the device and swap it out for either another s8+ or something like a g6?
I hope I don't seem too much of a brat ****face but I did lay out tons of cash for this phone, which other than the battery I am incredibly impressed by.
Thank you guys for keeping this forum running, it's been a lifesaver!

Most of these 6-10 hours of sot is nonsense as most of these people don't even use the phone properly only leaving the screen on so that sot would increase rather than using it properly like watching YouTube having a decent brightness etc... Just use your phone as much as you like stop thinking about battery life if it's really a problem get a powerbank. Me my self if I'm at work I use a lot of GPS as I need to travel and I have my screen turned of as I listen to Google maps rather look this will put me at around 3 to 4 hours of SOT or more sometimes depending how much I use the screen. But when I'm at home I use the phone non stop and I get around 5 -7 I always use full brightest all the time full res gaming sometimes youtube etc as you can see the people who get 6 to 10 they don't even use the phone that much so is there a point for them to have this phone if they don't use it to full potential no they might as well get a cheap phone.
Edit:
The only reason I would suggest rooting is if you want to play around with the phone like having a different kernel that allows to change voltage, speed etc

This, i can get 20hr sot on my mate 9 if i leave it with screen on, take in account SOT means NOTHING, it just one measure that can be easily manipulated.
I use my phone the way i use and i only judge by the end of the day, how much perfect left and what took the most of my battery life, without caring about SOT at all.
Just now i was traveling to Budapest and made ton of photos and videos with my DSLR and the Mate 9, on sunny days your brightness will be up, shooting 4K videos and taking pictures, using GPS google maps, will make your SOT low, does that mean your battery life is bad? NOT AT ALL
Stop caring about sot and use GSAM monitoring up to understand if there is a rogue app.
I have the S8+ and I see that they have figured out how to root the Snapdragon version. I am not really pressed to root my phone.
The 1st time I used the phone, which was a weekend and mostly WiFi, I got over 6 hours of screen time. However on my work days where I use mostly LTE service and I'm inside an office building, I may only have 3-4 hours of screen time but I will make it home with almost 50% of battery life.
I'm no longer concerned with screen time. If my phone can get me through a full day, then I'm happy with it.

Firstly,
I fully agree with @Derpling post above .( His last paragraph..)
Also SOT, now days, means nothing to me.!
Many years back, i used to be obsessed
with benchmark, battery usage, performance etc.
I also use to root all my device's.
However, presently i have stop been " obsessed"
and accept what is reasonable/acceptable.
eg. battery usage including SOT.
prefomance and stop rooting.
There is plenty work arounds available.
Presently, what i do
is i have a few good battery
apps... Betterbattery, Wakelock detector,
Gsam, I enabled these apps with ADB, to get them working. No root. (Very straightforward one or two liner commands, that's all.)
If i have a rogue app, and my battery use " suffers" i use these apps to id the app. and sort app out accordingly.
eg clear cache /data or uninstall.
Lastly i read online that presently,
more devs are
using " other alternatives" than root.
eg ADB...
to give you similar end results.
Bottom line... I found that in most cases
rooting a device just
creates other/more issues.!.. to fix.!
Now days, for me to root my device ( if ever again)
i must have a very, very good reason to root.
Good luck

You so right about root, there is a workaround to everything tbh, i use the Mate 9 without root and it's the closest phone in my opinion to perfection, no tweaks needed.
Geekbench SOT all of it are just numbers as it means nothing.

I think this is your problem, not the battery. One of the biggest battery killers on any device is a weak signal as the phone will push more power to the radio to try and find a better one (not exactly what happens, but there or thereabouts). Rotting won't change that.
Have you tried switching to 3G only, does that make a difference? Does it differ when you spend time in an area with a better signal?

The problem with my service signal is just temporary, I've been working for the summer but I'm moving back to the university tonight, there I have full 4g and 3g signal so hopefully this will change, however I have settled down a bit with the phone and I'm pretty happy with the battery now, 4h sot is not bad
yea rooting aint the solution
try gsam, wakelock detector, etc to detect the rogue app
imho you don't need root to improve your battery life, i'm achieving 5hr SOT easily with brightness 50%, AOD on and resolution WQHD+, all you need is to disable some of the preinstalled packages, do a bit of research to find out which ones can be disabled without a risk, then you will be good to go pm me if you need an assistance
I think your battery preformance is most likely to some apps or how you use it, I can say from expariance and experemanting with my S8+ that SOT and battery over all can shift.
I haven't rooted since im using samsung pay and haven't had a real need for root yet. but have tried a couple of diff apps and tests to max my battery but found that non off it really saves battery, quite the opposite.
I have tried substrantium to go all black in the phone (cus we have Amoled) but my battery life got worse
tried nova launcer to get some preformance boost and also black down the theme, but nova still suffers from battey drain issues (had same problem with my HTC10)
have disabled alot of services like bixby etc with BK Plugin. but made no big diff.
So after having the phone since launch and mixing and matching stuff to see if I could squeese a little more life out of an already good phone, I got to conclution that Samsung has done a good job in optimizing the S8+.
The stock launcher is fast and efficent, the built in "cleaning" program works well in shuting down unused apps etc. and running the phone with no extras and not tweking anything special or trying to get the phone as black as possible, I can go about 2 full days with normal use.
If you have the Snapdragon, battery life will decrease, by 20%.
I switched from a Verizon S8 to an unlocked S8+ and imo not having any of the added bloatware makes a difference. On my S8 I could make it through a whole day but my battery would be down under 10%. I know the S8 plus has a bigger battery but I go to bed with 30-40% of battery life.
I run my phone starting at 4:45am with a gym work out and I'm in bed by 11pm. My usage is mostly lte except for when I'm home. My SOT is always 5 hours or more.

Question Rog Phone 5 Battery Drain

So I've been using the Rog 5 for a week or so. I've noticed that ANDROID SYSTEM has a massive battery drain.
No matter which apps I use, wether it's YouTube, Chrome, WhatsApp or any gaming app, Android System always had a massive battery drain. This can't be normal can it?
I installed Better Battery Stats & Gsam Battery Monitor and found that Android System has got many Wakelocks too. I've attached screenshots for this, if anyone could help resolve these Wakelocks that would be amazing. Also if anyone could help to lower the Android System battery drain please.
On the better battery stats you will notice over 500 Wakelocks in 9 Hours ! Over 3 days that number is over 2000 Wakelocks
On my first full charge i have 6hrs screen on time and 40% left still cycling the battery for maximum performance. It would be interesting to see what apps can be disabled safely and any other battery saving tips people have here.

i had 8.30h of screen time with the huawei p30 pro 4200mah battery, a little disappointing for a 6000mah battery

Dont know whether this is happening only for me. I also tried manual battery calibration by draining the battery and charging till 100 after that i even deleted batterystats.bin file manually. Still 8 or 9 hours max.
Should i change to any other modes in specific? Like i am currently in dynamic mode. Should i tweak into advanced and reduce anything? Or you guys are having a sot of 11 hours in dynamic mode only?

Where's this battery.bin file ? From YouTube you should get way more SOT. Look on gsmarena, YouTube test is north of 13 hours
I use dynamic, auto Refresh rate, GPS, Bluetooth, auto brightness all OFF unless I need them. I use durable mode from 20%
Battery stats.bin file will be in root/system folder.

How do I access the root folder?
Also in location settings make sure you have WiFi scannibg off (it will say 'search for WiFi networks, even when WiFi is turned off') you'll find that in location menu. And if you go to developer options you'll come across something which says "Mobile data always active" turn that off too as it wastes battery for no reason.
Last but not least, go to Zentalk forum, Google it, it's Asus help forum and create a thread on there explaining you have high battery drain from Android System. They will fix it if we all report it
I have unlocked bootloader and rooted my my phone. With Root explorer or any other explorer with root permission you can access the folder.
I will disable that mobile data in developer options.
Thank you
I fully charged to 100% left overnight unplugged network standby took 2.5% and Android system was 0.2% and lost all together a total of 3% battery overnight. I think it needs to sleep better than that.
I updated to latest ww global firmware but mine is tincent version if i factory reset will it still stay on ww firmware? i think i need to do a reset. Also how do you do a hard reset via recovery on this is it safe?

It should lose 0% overnight. Android system is the culprit. No you won't lose WW after hard reset and regarding factory reset, I did it through settings as don't know how to enter recovery
Well unless someone reports it they wont fix it so best people report in as stated above ASAP.
