The phone does not react as not to enter the call
Friend I need help my problem is that since 9/16/2014 M10 CM11 can not update my phone because when you upgrade to the latest version of CM11 and now updating your rom CM12, everything works fine wifi, data, text messages, all but the only thing is that I if I can make calls perfectly, but if someone calls me, the phone does not react as not to enter the call, but to put it together on the phone that is calling me hear them (tic, tic, tic) as when you put it near a speaker, meaning that the call reaches the cell, but the cell does not react. I hope someone help me or help me since I can not upgrade my phone.

I also have a SGS 3, now running Masta's Lollipop CM 12 initial release. I was on the same modem but updated to NE1 one posted by Masta in his thread. It does NOT lock the bootloader. Good luck and post back your results. Have a nanod backup just in case. Gary

try putting a random micro sim card or a regular sim trimmed to fit micro sim in the sim slot, this works for the d2vzw and d2lte roms on the straight talk s3, we were having the same problem with these roms but a sim fixes data for us, maybe it will for you too, doesn't have to be a working or active sim just needs a sim in the slot to connect for some reason, hope this works for you

Misc data usage now at 40%, that's a lot higher than it was.
At 30% right now with one hour screen on time.
Pretty bad, haha

Hi Everyone,
I'm still on an old CM10.1 masta build from 7-30-2013 and I'd like to get back into things with these CM12 alpha builds. How should I go about this? I know I need to update my firmware/baseband (still on MF1) as well, but what should be my order?
Recovery - nandroid
Flash - Firmware/baseband
Reboot - to make sure all is well
Back to recovery
Wipe data/cache/factory reset
Flash - rom/gapps/SU
Done?
Then just dirty flash subsequent builds?
Thanks for your help, I've had solid performance from this old rom but looking forward to an update.

flash the ROM and Gapps THEN do your wipes, if you don't you might flash the ROM and when you reboot it might be buggy and you might think its the ROM when it might be something left behind from before so do your wipe so you don't run into that; always flash then wipe before reboot, sometimes you can skip that step and flash one over the other without wiping to fix issues in what you are flashing new but that's for experienced people to play around with and doesn't always work, anyway fkash rom and gapps then wipe and reboot

Ambient Display
So, this is in regards to the CM12 alphas, and since I don't have 10 posts yet, gotta post here.
Ambient Display was merged, which is pretty sweet, except it seems to randomly display for no reason. I don't have any notifications showing up, so why is it coming up? It can display several times in a minute, or go several minutes too, it seems pretty random. Only thing I can think of is it's picking up subtle vibrations and thinking I've picked it up?
no incoming calls
Anyone else having an issue with no incomming calls? Ive realised since a few months on cm11 i get no incomming calls unless its a private number.. I would love to use cm12 but theres the same issue. Seems to affect people using this phone outside the US like i am. I saw someone mention this in the main thread but im stuck posting here since im a new member :/
Yes my girlfriends phone after i installed cm11 on it. Never did figure it out.
Top and bottom mic swapped in skype and other such apps?!
First off my last no calls issue was solved with this file. i cant post links so maybe search d2gsm_rilblobs.zip
Ever since I've used CM on my S3 i noticed during my skype calls when i hold the phone to my ear the other person doesn't hear me well especially when there's allot of ambient noise!
I soon discovered that when using any app that records audio it uses the top mic only. but in regular phone calls through the network its normal using the bottom mic! Does anyone experience this? i mean it works fine and if u don't pay attention it may not bother you, but as an audio technician i notice these things! u can try if u have skype using the test call talk in the top and then bottom and you'll see the top is louder when its played back.
I went back to stock and the mic worked at the bottom as it should.. maybe there's a fix for this floating around? I have the Verizon S3 but if anyone notices this i would love to know its not just me!!
On masta's CM12 nightlies, I'm having an issue with data between flashes. When I dirty flash a nightly over the previous one, the phone refuses to connect to mobile data, even though everything is apparently fine. Anyone else have this issue?

You try turning airplane mode off then back on? Make sure your mobile network is set to lte or 3g and not global.

Hello, I am hoping someone can set me straight on the flashing of modems/radios and what is the proper way to do it.
Do they have to be flashed during the rom flash and then never touched until the next rom flash or can they just be flashed any old time?
The reason I ask is because I was booting into CWM and flashing each Modem/Radio one at a time and testing them out. I narrowed it down to one that had the best call quality but after flashing back to it the quality was worse then it was the first time I had flashed that one. Is it possible for a modem to install differently the second time? I am not running any formatting or clearing anything.
Why would the same modem/radio give different call quality on different installs?? Should I only be installing the modems/radios at the beginning when I first flash the rom?
Would like to sort this out as my outgoing call quality is pretty bad. Tested my SIM card in my old Galaxy S on CM9 and it sounded a million times better. My Galaxy S2 LTE is on SKY ICS 4.2F6.
You can flash a new radio/kernel on your phone any time after you've flashed the rom (as roms usually flash a radio/kernal when you flash the base) and it should not have any adverse effects on your phone (unless the kernel/radio is buggy/bad for your phone).
As far as formatting/clearing, I habitually clear my cache whenever I update anything on my phone and I haven't had any issues with deteriorating call quality and the like.
That is strange. My outgoing call quality is so bad compared to my Galaxy S on CM9.
I just flashed my phone to CM9 RC2 and will see how that goes. Now I just have to wait for a friend to give me a hand testing call quality.
It's really strange how I had different results with the same radio but different installs.

I'm actually running CM9 RC2 as well and am having major issues with the radio that gets flashed with it (UCLF6) as I live in a test LTE area. The reception goes to 0 to full every 2 seconds and I never get any phone calls or missed calls when people call me.
CM9 RC2 seems to have an issue with the LTE toggle, Network Mode and "2G only" features. As soon as u turn it on, it auto switches back to the default LTE being on.
I did a little bit of research and found that I would need to flash a "RAT UNLOCKED" radio. My concern is the same as the OP in that I'm a little confused as to the proper method and steps to doing this. Any help is greatly appreciated. I think both me and the OP will benefit.
I've attached a screenshot of my about phone page.
Thanks!
I recall seeing those "RAT Unlocked" radios listed on Mohan's Embryo thread.
It can be seen here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1754473
I have no idea if those radios can be used with CM9 or not but I'm thinking of trying the embryo ROM and seeing how my call quality goes.
My problem is nowhere near as severe as yours. I get decent signal and can receive calls fine. My outgoing audio just sounds horrible and garbled. Who knows, maybe my issues also has something to do with LTE.

That as almost correct. ROMs usually contain a kernel and the /system. They almost never contain a radio. That being said, yes, you can flash a new radio at any time. There are quite a number of radios for the Skyrocket because each ICS leak pretty much had a new one. You should have no issues flashing either a Rogers or AT&T radio on a Skyrocket. From what I've read and seen, different areas of the country do better on different radios. I would personally start with the radio from either the AT&T or Rogers official release and then work backwards from there.

The radios should work the same regardless of the ROM.
okay that sounds promising. to flash a radio do you simply flash the zip over everything on CWM? do u need to clear or format anything? once you flash do you need to change any APN settings or anything? sorry if these questions seem novice but i usually just use the stock radio. fist time doin this
Also: Where can i find and download the official rogers modems?

HMM.. Any idea why I would be experiencing these problems then? Just seems strange that I installed the same radio twice and it had different results on each install. Do you think it could be a phone hardware issue?
Would it matter if my phone is a Rogers and I am running an AT&T radio? Maybe I should try the Rogers radios?
@Ompalompa287
From what I gather... Just flashing the zip in CWM is all you need to do. No settings to change or anything. I have heard of some people wiping cache as well.
I just simply need to know if there is anyway to disable 3g (force to edge) network? I have a at&t Skyrocket running cm9 Chopsticks.

So I just found out my phone has Noise Cancellation for the microphone. Maybe it's the noise cancellation mic that is causing the issues.
Does anyone know how I can disable the noise cancellation to test this theory?

Trust me, I have looked everywhere for an option to turn it off and I can't find one. I am on Sky ICS 4.2F6
Where do you go to turn yours on and off?
since cwm does not wipe the radio, flash new radio two times, even three times just to make sure it completely overwrites the old one you are replacing

ISSUE RESOLVED
Thanks, SlimSnoopOS!
Alright let me say that while I am very inexperienced with ROM-ing and the like, I have done it once successfully in the past (several years ago with my Droid X) without any issues. I rooted my phone today and installed the latest D2VZW release (not nightly) of the Carbon ROM.
My biggest problem is that I have no mobile network connection. I have looked at other discussion boards with people having similar problems, but were not of help to me as I have no idea what they are saying. I can say, however, that my IMEI number is correct (had it written down), but my phone number according to the Status is 000-000-2212.
EDIT: There is a mobile network connection. I have the bars, and "4G" switches back and forth to "R". I can't, however, call or receive calls, or text message at all.
EDIT2: Upon updating to latest version, my phone number is reporting correctly, but I still can't use my mobile network connection. It does not ask me to do the initial setup upon starting for the first time after flash.
Second, there is no lock screen, the home button doesn't work, most apps don't come up at all, etc. I'm totally lost.
I appreciate all help trying to get me pointed in the right direction here, or at least figuring out what's happening. I will do my best to provide as much information as I can, and I apologize ahead of time for my lack of understanding.
EDIT: If it's not something I can fix, I'll try to reset it back to stock using the pinned thread, but I don't have time to do so right now.
EDIT2: I updated from v1.0 to v1.8, and it resolved most of the problems, which I deleted from this thread. The vital ones are still present, however.
When you flashed CarbonRom, what did you wipe in recovery? Also, have you done any of these steps? Lastly, since you performed some edits, could you clarify what is currently wrong with your phone?
Thanks for your reply! I was actually going to delete this post and start a new one because I've greatly narrowed down my problem. Just typing it all out above seemed to help me think about the problem and fix it.
After getting all updated ZIPs and flashing them, I got the ROM working properly.
The problem with the mobile network persisted, but after trying Fix #2 in your link, it worked. As far as I can tell, my phone is fully functioning now. Thanks a ton!
Always here to help!

I try to keep up with latest os, but 4.3 has me baffled. The first time I tried to install 4.3 was on Jellybam 10.2. I followed the instructions to the tee, but it didn't work. All 4.3 roms I've loaded I've never had a signal. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Now that all of the 4.3 roms have the custom recovery already on the rom, it still doesn't work. I have no signal. I thought about unrooting my sg3 and starting over, but that is a pain. So I'm basically stuck with 4.2.2. If anyone has anything to say about my problem please do so. Thanks

when you flash, co you clean flash? and what recovery are you using? This info would help in getting your questions answered.
i've been running Mastamoon's unofficial 10.2 (Android 4.3) nightlies (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2385652), and regularly flash back and forth between TW Roms as well and have never had any real data problems. sure, drops data every once in a great while, but Mastamoon puts a lot of work into cleaning up issues.
one thing: IF you flash, and you don't have data, did you wait more than a couple of minutes? Sometimes it takes a while on first flashes. Also, did you check what your status said? (menu >system settings >about phone >status? Also, check to insure your mobile network is set up correctly (menu >system settings >more > mobile network settings) and check your CDMA subscription is set to RUIM/SIM and NOT NV, and network mode is set to LTE/CDMA/EvDo sometimes during a bad flash, these can get hosed up.
like i said, i run Masta's unofficial version, and go in and out of data areas (no data in the subway tunnels) and it always goes right back.
give that a try, and if still having problems, add more information befor just saying "i don't get any data with any 4.3 rom

Good afternoon, and thanks for your help.
I wish I could give you more information, but I broke one of my cardinal rules about messing with my phone and didn't take notes. Suffice it to say I was trying a couple of different 4.3 ROMS in the forums, as well as the two available MIUI roms that were in there. I use TWRP.
I did wait quite a while before declaring no data, it has actually been a couple of days. It does show I have a signal, and I can get texts that are sent to me. When my wife tries to call my phone it goes right to voice mail, even when it does say I have a signal (4G, full bars). I also cannot send a text, it immediately goes to 'failed message'.
I tried setting my phone back to LTE/CDMA/EvDo, but I don't see an option for CDMA subscription. I wonder if I accidentally tried a Global ROM instead? All I am really looking for is some 4.2 love, I like what my daughters Nexus 4 has for lock screen widgets, and my Cleanrom installation is acting a little wonky now and again, so thought it was time to flash something new. Silly rabbit, trix are for kids.
Thanks again. Thinking of flashing a stock ROM and starting over. Any thoughts?

follow my last post; Mastamoon has his version of CM10.2 (4.3) running great, and is very quick at answers (during the week that is) as well a couple of other DEVs that follow that tread are always willing to offer help. AND he has a download app, that once you install will tell you when there is an update, give you a direct link to it, and after downloading, will check the MD5 to insure a good download.
providing you are on VZW that is.
I actually had this problem coming from hyper drive to dirty Unicorn. But i started out on the Droid X back in the day so I was used to it. While I don't know if this really works but it worked for me is do *22899 then *228# ( so the keyboard pops up ) i did it a few times also i turned it off the cell service and turned it back on using the toggle. While i dont know if that will do it it worked for me. I know LTE dont need do that because of the sim but it does for me in the hiccup.
A question i have that i cant post in the Dev Fourm because of lack of post. I been part of XDA for long time just never posted. But I'm running Dirty Unicorn and theres a option for fast charge but it does nothing. I've used this feature before and makes my car charger work better and home charging and my battery sucks now but does anyone know how to get it working? I've tried terminal did SU and FFC but nothing.
I'm running twrp recovery. I'm asuming the latetest version. And i do let it settle for a while. As for the settings you mentioned, everything is normal, and as it should be. The imei, meid, ect. Is normal. Thanks for the input.
I've fixed this by going full ODIN, putting a stock image back on, and following the instructions at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2066133 Seems to be working, it is no longer on roaming.

When I tried 4.2 and turned off data it completely killed my signal. None of my recoveries of 4.1.2 had signal. Flashing back to stock fixed the signal problem.
Hellfire and Dirty Unicorns have worked great for me since going to 4.3 and 4.3.1. I use cwm touch recovery but idk how much of an effect recovery has with flashing a rom successfully.
But this tool makes rooting, unlocking the bootloader, and recovery very simple and easy. (but I would flash the latest recovery after using the tool just in case)

I believe fast charge is kernel related and not because of a rom. I haven't ever used fast charge but all the kernel threads always list fast charge as a feature. But which DU build are you running?
Hey all,
Ugh, didn't mean to post yet!
I just updated from CM9 to 10.2 in the hopes it might fix this bug, but it didn't. I suspect then that it's not ANYTHING to do with a ROM per se but I'm perplexed as to what it is.
The behaviour is:
- I get a voice mail
- After listening to the voice mail, deleting it, and hanging up, the notification doesn't disappear
- Some time later, I get a repeat notification of the voice mail
- During this time, I can't receive any texts
- About a DAY later, the phone will realize that voice mail actually has been deleted
I've tried searching xda, and I've tried general googling, but I haven't pinned anything down. I've seen some references to what might be a similar bug, but not with these ROMs, and... honestly a couple of YEARS ago.

I have not seen this on any of my T-Mobile phones....did you do a full wipe before flashing CM10.2..
Which 10.2 Rom did you flash..
You Might have to one-click back to
stock.
That should fix it..then work back up.

Well, I did do a factory reset.
Is resetting to the stock ROM actually guaranteed to, well, basically format /system?
(Oh, and I flashed this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2451317 )
P.S. see here for someone's... probably unorthodox solution to the problem. Basically seems to be forcing # of voice mail notifications to 0. Which isnt really what I want, anyway.

That looks like a work-around not a solution. .
Yeah if you odin back to stock...
Its a guarantee it will format your system partition..
Try gremlin remover its always worked for me and odin is pretty simple..follow the OP its a one-click pre-made odin setup so dont change anything and your good.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1500427
Once your back to stock...
And the problem is fixed.
I always went to Team Acids CM9.
Let the partitions convert..
Then on to CM10.2 or whatever..
Never had a problem this way..

Unfortunately, I have the 959W rather than the 959V so I can't use it.
And I remember upgrading from gingerbread to CM9 was a lot tougher than I expected (I think getting the drivers to work right) and I had to get a LOT of help from a member here on the forum. IIRC there were a lot more reboots required of the phone / my PC to get things to work.
All in all I probably shouldn't mess around with ROMs. Hardware problems make me angry and frustrated.

O..didn't know you had the T959w..
Well I have seen something similar
On the Samsung GS4G Blaze..
They had a call fowarding bug that was carrying over on Roms..
It was something in CM11 that they
Figured was being written on the
Sim Card..and it was even carrying over to any Rom you flashed..
Once you got it... it didn't matter
what Rom you installed
full wipe or not it stuck..
They have Offical CM11 and the
CM team fixed it..but I remember it took a couple weeks..
Have you tried getting another
Sim Card..couldn't hurt..
Have you tried Force closing the
Phone Apk.and clearing data..
Also found this..
Here's what just worked for me on my Tmobile Galaxy S III
1) Pull the battery
2) Wait a few minutes with the battery out (I waited 5 minutes)
3) Pull the SIM card
4) Replace battery and power up phone. Wait until phone is fully booted
5) Power down phone
6) Replace SIM card and power up
Annoying VoiceMail icon is now gone.
BTW.. I hate the voice mail notification...
I wish people would
Never leave me a voice mail..LOL..
Sent from my SM-G900T using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Oh huh, I missed your reply till now.
I think force closing the phone app and clearing caches works but ONLY temporarily and then the problem reoccurs (when the phone decides to check for more voice messages?)
Man if this was something being written on the sim card and not a ROM thing that'd be really annoying. But couldn't I "just" wipe the whole sim card? That's gotta be possible, right?
I'm trying the pull-battery-and-sim-card just to see what happens.
On the plus side I found some old posts of mine on the forum and realized that I only ever used this new computer for flashing stuff. So I just have to figure out which USB port worked last time... the usb drivers should still be installed and everything.
^ Just curious what modem are you using? Is it patched to work on MTD partitions layout? Is it the stock one from Wind the Canadian carrier?
Try using modem LB6 for 959w/v patched to work for mtd roms, hope this will fix the issue.

I believe I am using the LB6 - certainly, I'm not using the stock. (The only confusion is that I've got zip files on my PC for the LB6 and a KG4 modem.)
Whatever modem I have on my phone was working fine prior to some upgrade of CM9 (IIRC).
God!!!
So I got Heimdall working again, flashed to stock, reformatted my SD card, re-updated to CM10... and I'm getting the same problem again!
So either it's the CM 10 ROM or something with my phone company! GRRRR...
Maybe the next step is to go back to stock and then just try CM 9. Or even CM 7 or something... put a modem on the stock ROM and see if THAT still ****s up.
Aaaaand stock + LB6 modem gets the voice mail notifications.
!%()*!%()*!#% phone company!

Quite strange I've never had this problem. Try to delete the connection and re-add it
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
I have the same issue. There is nothing to delete since on reboot the connection is not there already.

Try to clean data of settings and settings storage...(you'll loose your settings but not you data) If still not working I recommend a full wipe
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
Did not help me. After full wipe (Factory reset in TWM) it keeps forgetting WiFi settings on reboot. /data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf does not save wifi creds. Looks like las nightly build is buggy.
Best,

I've read about a new file from new note.. Maybe it's causing problems... The change was reverted yesterday, if I remember correctly... Try the new nightly. I haven't got any control over those changes

Both versions from 19 and 20.10.2014 do not work. I rollbacked to the version from 20140803, the last backup I have. This one doesn't have mentioned issue.

I've found this https://gerrit.omnirom.org/#/c/9804/ . This is the only commit that could have created the problem. Maybe if you revert the file wpa_supplicant.conf on your device as it was on the left of https://gerrit.omnirom.org/#/c/9804/1/configs/wpa_supplicant.conf wifi will start to memorize netwok again.... Can you try this? If you confirm that it starts to work again I'll make a commit and merge it, if you can't I (might) check this on next weekend

I need a log and a complete description. What do you mean that you installed THE kitkat ? Are you using omnirom or another rom? Or have you flashed samsung stock kitkat and then omnirom? Have you tested with other devices? The bluetooth switch on or not? Can you find other phones?
youtube and video fix by marco9333
Hey the fix works fine on my N8010 (coming from Firmware N8010XXUDNE4)
Thank you marco9333 for your hard work.
Omnirom video issues
I still seem to be having issues with the latest omnirom nightly with xfinity tv not playing very well and taking a long time to buffer with occasional choppy video.
Is this probably still an existing issue with the video codecs in omnirom? I know there were issues that are supposedly fixed a day or two ago, but it seems not fixed perfectly.
CM11 rom plays video fine with xfinity tv. At least the version in android devel unofficial does. It is probably a month or so old version.
Just thought I'd let the omnirom dev know

Are you playing a 1080p video? Try to switch to 720p and report (1080p is useless on our tablet because of screen resolution). I can't use xfinity in my country so I've no way to check it
Video Issues
I posted yesterday that I was having issues with the Xfinity Tv Go app not working well and having issues with playback. After further testing, it does work fine with omnirom. It seems that the buffering issues I had were related to the connection / possibly not working at 100 percent due to battery being low? This doesn't make much sense to me but once I plugged it all worked as expected.
Just thought I'd respond back to my yesterday's post so that it is known I did get this working. Cheers,
I'm very glad to see active developement on this somewhat old tablet. It may be old but it still has great specs and plenty of speed / ram to be a daily workhorse for many years to come imo - as long as the software / security keeps up to date.
After flashing the latest nightly, I have no root and can't get into recovery. How do I re-root?

IR Blaster
Just flashed the latest nightly. 25th of Jan 2015.
After trying to use the IR blaster to turn on a Sony TV and a Samsung Smart TV using the peel smart remote (Galaxy Tab) with no success I was wondering if the IR blaster worked? and if so what app is working most successfully?
A serious problem with nighly updates
First of all. I am not receiving any nightly updates. I reflashed the ROM and then I got one update. Its dormant again. I am not getting any update that available for the last 3 weeks.
2nd. My WiFi seems to be disconnecting/reconnecting every now and then, rather every two minutes or so.
I need some solutions for both of these. This the best ROM by far.
Thank you.

Dont quote me on this: I think you only get an update to new nightlies when there are changes... Like when the MD5 changes - e.g. there are bits different in the file - I dont think filename counts as a change because that is managed by the file system the file resides-on as opposed to tacked-onto the file...
So even though there may be new nightlies everyday, if nothing is changing in the code they are in effect the same file, bit-wise - so no update.
If anyone knows exactly how the update deltas work can you verify this?

GApps wont be updating again, now what?
I was downloading the ROM and the Gapps, but it seems that the developer (of the Gapps) is leaving the thread and not updating anymore... are there other alternatives? thanks!
