[Completed] [Q] Novice in training - Technology Train Crash - M2, Z2 tablet, xposed, 4.4/4.3 etc. - XDA Assist

Below is my recent drama with technology. I would really appreciate any help or guidance anyone has for this poor novice. Thank you in advance.
Here is my story:
My first android experience was my xperia m2. With a bit of playing about I rooted it (using towelroot), installed super user, xposed, donkey guard and a bunch of other modules. As you can imagine for someone who is a novice and has no clue about coding, flashing, roms, ftf's, bootloaders, fastboots, anything like that. So I was quite pleased with myself that I could block permissons with donkey guard, and the look of my phone with gravity etc....
All was going well when I kept getting a "You have a system update" message telling me that a system update to 4.4 is now availible. So I allow it to install but it wouldn't work. So I figured that its because the phone is rooted, so I did a factory reinstall, flash whateveryou call it using sony pc companion. Once finished I tried to root again using towelroot but that didn't work, so I hunted all over the net to find a way of routing the m2 with 4.4 but wanted to avoid unlocking the bootloader as everything pointed towards that not being a good idea if you don't know what your doing. Nothing that I have found so far I can understand. So thats why I am wanting my old 4.3 back. I Was happy with it, but when I use pc companion to flash, it keeps putting the latest 4.4 software on which I cant seem to root easily (ie. 1 click solution).
Also, I bought an xperia Z2 tablet (SGP511 - 17.1.2.A.0.314) a few weeks ago and as you know they come with 4.4 as standard. i quickly found a 1 click root method, rooted the tablet the installed superuser, busybox, then xposed and donkey guard etc.
I activated donkey guard and other modules in xposed and restarted etc.
I found that donkey guard would not work, nor would most of the other modules. One more thing that I found was that whenever I would shut down the tablet it would boot straight back up again and had to use the force off button next to the sd card to turn it off. So I flashed it again and went through the whole procedure again thinking that maybe I hade done something wrong, but got the same result. I did find out though through ellimination that the shut down issue was being caused by donkey guard being active, so if I deactivated it in xposed no more reboots. I thought that theproblem was with donkey guard and went though the donkey guard forum, but later dicovered that other modules are not working too. So I am not sure if the problems the tablet, 4.4 software, xposed, or something totally different, but all I know is that I was happy when everything worked on the m2 with 4.3, hence why the thought of a downgrade (if I can do it) of the M2 and not sure what the hell to do with the tablet.
Please let me know your thoughts
All the best

[Q] Help with returning Xperia S to stock

Hey, New to this here and in need of help with my Xperia S Lt26.
I bought it off eBay earlier this year not realising it was rooted, once I got the phone I performed a factory reset and removed apps like moxier and superSU (which I now think was a mistake).
Anyway with the new update out my android system says computer required and when I connect to Sony update on computer it says I can't do it, I have also tried to update via WiFi with no luck as my girlfriend was able to do her update this way.
How can I get my phone back to its stock factory settings and avoid this happening again?
I want my phone back to how it should be, like it was never rooted, then I can update it the correct way.
I have never rooted or flashed a phone before, so step by step would be great, thanks
just want to add I tried to reinstall superSU and do the remove root on my phone but once I opened the app it came up that no binary was found
somebody surely must have an answer

[Q] LG G3 epic root problems. xposed issues mainly.

TBH. im a noob at all of this.
i rooted my phone because i wanted to use g3 tweakbox app. I did successfully root my phone.
Recently i got an update on my phone. In which i did update my phone. software currently is 4.4.2. im guessing it was 4.4.1 before, not too sure. Still android kit kat despite lollipop already being out.
The problem i run into right now is when i open g3 tweaksbox, i get an error message saying 'the module is not enabled or xposed framework is missing...". i then opened xposed and Xposed gives me an error message saying "the lastest version of xposed is currently not active. did you install the framework and reboot?" ive searched all day to figure out why this is the problem but i havent been able to find a solution. I also got an error message in supersu saying that "there is no SU binary installed and superSU cannot install it".
I looked into resetting my phone, but i can not get anything to backup at all. Ive tried many placed to back up my stuff too but all fail. Im guessing its because im stuck between these two worlds right now: between a stock phone and a rooted one. Idk how to fix it and i cant back anything up anywhere. i also dont want to lose all of my stuff on my phone just by hitting the reset to factory button on my phone. Can yahll please help, thank you. my phone does run fine but im just not the type that leaves the problem alone.. i want to fix it but i cant cause im just stuck right now.

Try installing the Framework again from Xposed Installer. Disable and enable again the module and reboot.
Try to do this
Xposed installer
Go to Xposed module
Check the tweaks
Then go to
Xposed framework
Click install /update
The it will asked to reboot
Then click OK
That's it

Should we upgrade to 5.1 ?

Hi, I have D2403 with zexperience installed on it and I wanted to hear your guys oppinions on 5.1.I have locked bootloader and I can't unlock it and I dont understand is it safe to root now or no with Locked BL? Is it worth to update 5.1 or should i stay with my current system etc..?
cheers
Yes you can update of you want to, it does take up slightly more room than kk did. it took about two weeks for my battery life to settle down but once it does battery life is better than kk for me never get less than 5-6hrs screen time sometimes a bit more and that's with the zram as Sony intended. yes root is available for LB but only by flashing a pre-rooted zip via recovery on rooted kk and recovery is only available at the minute by using t2u nut dual recovery(not ideal but it does work). If you're totally stock and don't want root I'd update by Sony pcc. Only thing I'm really missing is xposed I think it was worth the wait myself.

Rooting is as safe as ever. Just more complicate to enable it (basically start from KK, root it, install recovery, make PRF file with 5.1.1 system, flash PRF file from recovery, flash rooting zip from recovery, flash remaining 5.1.1 components with Flashtool and restart all over downgrading to KK if anything goes wrong).
Regarding if it's worth it.. The current issues are:
- The camera sucks for many. Even Xperia Blog reported it now.
- It uses more RAM (which is vey disappointing. I thought ART was going to need less memory?!). Disabling the zram and setting the minfree as they were in KitKat one gets nearly zero multitasking
- Frequent I/O wait even with the zram disabled (but not as bad as with the zram. Unfortunately see above)
- The WiFi has different functionalities from KK (it stays connected to the WiFi even if the AP drops the internet connection. The option to disable it has gone. In other cases it shows an exclamation mark due to something with Captive Networks)
- It seems to me it lags more. But I have plenty of apps installed.
- Few old apps perform poorly
- Many old KK Xperia themes won't work in full , yet (at least the ones I liked the most)
- Potential issues with the GPS (it seems to be a bug in Lollipop generally speaking)
- I hate the new notifications
The Pros:
- Better Stamina mode
- The slick new UI, I especially love the new open applications list (which finally puts a separate window for apps open inside other apps. IMDB from TV Sideview excluded, though)
- Some newer apps make full use of the Lollipop API and more will follow
IMO KitKat is more stable and efficient. But I like Lollipop nonetheless so I decided to stick with it. The few bugs around aren't a deal breaking to me.
Yes you should always upgrade to the newest android.
After battery drain, gps and camera issue I am back to 4.4.4 and ALL work fine and i am happy.
I'm holding back to see if we can get a working recovery (other than Nut's T2U) on a locked bootloader and hopefully then @linuxct will cook us up a new version of his Lite ROM based on 5.1.1 with all the kinks of the official software ironed out

We (@AleksJ and I) are currently working on a fully functional recovery solution for both Lollipop and KitKat (No need to use T2U solutions anymore, which is quite RISKY as I explained in some threads before).
If there aren't any inconveniences, we should be releasing it soon. After that I'll start the Z4 eXPERIence 4.0 (it'll be a light edition) development.
Yea true, two days ago linuxct told me that he's found a way to use a good bueselinux module by zxz0O0 in our recovery installer.
Well fine the installer is back on the game, it can be used on the recent Android release with old recovery. But....recently we also noticed a very nasty touch screen issues the reasons for which are unclear for now.
p.s.
The PhilZ Touch project is "End Of Support", but believe or not with this recovery boot.img I can install and run on my unlocked M2 the latest Omnirom and CM (without sensors lib) in the same way as CWM and TWRP..)
Of course I can't and don't want to tell anyone what and how to do. Just share my opinion.
Hi, when can we expect the new Z4 eXPERIence 4.0to arrive? if You need some Beta testers, I would be happy to asign
(Sorry if this isn't the right thread for the question!)
@semil
Linuxct said he will work on updating that rom after he and AleksJ finish working on a legit recovery for LB.

Help with B148

Hey guys,
So I went from B145>B148 and now I'm stuck. Can't root or go >B304>B312>B327...what I'm saying is, I'd rather go back to B145. I was very much fine with that version (rooted w/ KingUser then removed and installed w/ SuperSu). Everything else fine. Just wanted to see if there was any difference on B148, not too excited to go LP.
Any ideas how to go back down B145??
thanks!! :good::good:
Anything, anyone?
Downgrade firmware? Something?
Solved!
Alright, so with only a bunch of page views and no real help from anyone here on the forum...I was able to finally figure everything out on my own.
I was originally at C00B145 (and rooted, loved it), got curious with everyone talking bout the many other upgrades so >C00B148 (lost root, hated it. Stuck on firmware, couldn't root and for some reason could't go further), probably just me. Decided and risked on V100R001C900B308 rollback (success) but stuck again on temp transition, couldn't go anywhere. Failed on B137, B137SP03, B141, B145, and B148.
Solved: Re-flashed V100R001C900B308>C900B300 (rollback)>MT7-L09C900B324, backup recovery, system restore>kingroot, then installed SuperSU (deleting kingroot).
Rooted MT7-L09C900B324 5.1. Now, the only thing I'm missing so far is the Motion Control, which I only deal with the slider (not a big deal to me). I really like the double-window, knuckle/screenshot, and the few other interesting new features. Lots of ppl saying they don't have 4g available, but mine's fine...can switch between 3G/4G.
I did use two different region's firmware for the solve. No lags, and actually has good fluid response. Gonna keep on 5.1 for at least a week and see what's good on battery life, response and features...if I like it'll stay, otherwise I had no problem on B145 and might just go back down to KK.
Cheers!

S5 root help

I bought the S5 when it first came out and subsequently used towelroot, as soon as it was available. It's been great for customization and extended functionality through the years. Now, however, i have slowly been experiencing more and more issues with this current setup...i.e. some functions have stopped working and many apps no longer work with the kitkat andoid version. Anyway, I am looking for a way to upgrade to marshmallow, or even lollipop, to be able to use apps...and hopefully some ui functionality returns with a reset during the process.
Warning: I have never used odin or flashed roms or anything to that level but i am willing to learn with some good direction.
Current setup:
SM-G900V, Android 4.4.2, Kernal 3.4.0, Build KOT49H.G900VVRU1ANCG, eMMC 15****
If it matters, I also use SuperSU, Xposed.
Not sure what other info would be helpful to assist me, but feel free to ask.
Also lately it can get stuck in a boot loop when rebooting. I'm afraid one day i will be unable to get it to boot up. additionally, it was hit or miss on reboots previously, but now i am unable to get the phone to recognize the SD card. Maybe i should unroot and hard reset, then reroot. Any suggestions regarding that approach? I vaguely remember something about having to undo all the changes made before unrooting.
Edit: All works fine currently, but hit or miss on reboots.
