I have a system app from my previous device's nandroid backup.
I want to install this app to my current device but when I am doing so it is unable to ind\stall.
I guess it is because the app is system app and my current device is non root.
I want to if there is any method to convert this app to normal user app so that I can install it on any device?
I am attaching the apk file if any one here can do it for me.
Thank you.
App is for a HTC device's nandroid backup and I am trying to install it on a Motorola device.

Hello.
I would like to backup applications and their data. But I have hboot 2.00.0002 (stock ROM Android 2.3.5, Sense 3.0). All Backup application needs ROOT to backup data of applications. I've read that when I use Unlock Bootloader from HTCdev or other things to enable providing ROOT, it will just do "factory reset".
Here is the damn thing... How can I backup data of applications? Because I now just see it will not be able due to provide ROOT that will erase data I would like to backup.
My English is not the best, but I hope you understand, what I'm talking about.
I'm a normal user, my phone is not rooted, but I use an application from the market called "APP backup & Reinstall", this saves the APK files for applications installed.

I had the same problem when i wanted to root/unlock my device. I just saved all the messages/images/contacts with an Software called MoboRobo, MyPhoneExplorer should also work. I did not backup the Apps, because i wanted to use the rooting as a clean install without all the useless apps on my phone, so i only installed the ones i really needed on the new rom.
But APP backup & Reinstall should do the work for you.
cooltoka exactly... APP backup & Reinstall is not providing application data backup. It only saves .apk files on SD Card without data, so that is useless for me... Messages/Images/Contacts I already have saved...
Is there any other software for backup app data of NONROOTED device?
Hi Armino !
It seems to me that Titanium backup can make backups of your applications and all the data that come with them.

Requires root...
App data is saved in /data/data/ and you don't have the permission to access the folder without root.
I guess you could temp root your device then pull the folders and push the folders back after you S-OFF ed and rooted your phone. But that's just me thinking... I don't know if it works

Hi c.m.b
I can't provide S-OFF, because I have hboot 2.00.0002. I would have to unlock device with Bootloader Unlocker and then downgrade to older version of hboot... But this process will erase my data and that is what I don't wanna do...
Hello everyone...
First of all, i'll like to apologise if this thread is already in existence cos i dont really know how to search through over thousands of thread created. I love trying out types of custom rom i feel wld be great. But everytime i install, i'll have to start installing my apps (backed up apk's) manually. Could anyone help me with any app which i can use to backup installed apps so after flashing a new rom, would just have to restore the backup which would install all app and its settings instead of doing it manually all from the start. i googled and downloaded an app Nandroid Manager but i dont figure how to use it.. It wont set a backup location. Any help???

Not very familiar with nandroid back up but i am using titanium backup(buy it, worth every penny), it give u option to both backup your app+data.
I think the free version has the same option.
There is also this app. i used recently on a game(pudding monsters) and it restored the app with the data.
Try both and see which works best for u.
+1 Titanium Backup do it well even free version
You can also do it yourself by doing a copy paste of your data/app folder
Titanium is the best way you can choise

This can be done by two way
1) Titanium Backup - This will ensure all your app and data will be restored on new ROM in single click
a) Backup all user app+data of old ROM
b) Create a Update.zip through Titanium backup app
c) Flash the Update.zip through Recovery (Post installation of new ROM) and enjoy :good:
2) Nandroid backup - By using this option , entire ROM can be backed up (App,Data everything as on date). However this can be use only if you are going back to experience the same ROM again.
1) Through Recovery take the backup of entire ROM
2) Through Recovery restore
3) If you are on S-ON then post restore flash the boot.img manually by using Fastboot command before rebooting the phone. It is must to do step or else phone will be trapped in bootlap
I always ensure following before installing a new ROM
1) Back up of Contacts, SMS/MMS and Call logs by using My Backup Pro app
2) Creating the Update.zip file of all user app+data as on date so nothing can be missed out (Not even save games of Temple Run)
And if I want to go back again to the earlier ROM then I used Nandroid backup. Which reduce a hell lots of efforts.
is there any app that will automatically backup all the installed apps...?

Yes, you can read about it generally here: Ultimate Backup Tool, No Root Required.
But there are many other backup apps available, such as Helium: [Guide] Backup Apps & Their Data for Rooted & Non-Rooted Devices, or Titanium Backup (from Play store).
But some need root access.
Thread closed and thank you.
Titanium Backup Pro will not restore system apps.
Samsung Galaxy S6 SM-G920T
Titanium Backup 7.1.2 with Pro
Stock rooted with CF-Auto-Root
Tried SuperSU v2.45 - v2.46 - v2.49
The Problem
I made backup of apps that I would like to remove from the phone. I did a test by removing Amazon App. When I try to restore app, Titanium hand at restoring app, spinner will go for as long as I leave my phone on. Kill Titanium, reboot phone and I get a toast popup that Amazon has stopped. Amazon app icon in app draw, I touch to start app and get the same toast popup that Amazon has stopped. Start Root Explorer Pro navigate to system/priv-app Amazon app folder is not there. Navigate to system/app Amazon app is located here, but not in a folder and not with any support files. I tried this with a few other apps and it does not matter if they are located in system/priv-app or system/app same result.
I have search and found older threads that suggest changing Application Processing Mode to Interactive, but no mode changes have helped.
I also tried changing Mount namespace separation in SuperSU.
When applying these changes I have reboot the phone.
Any Ideas, please help.
Thank You

Hey, im on G925F and I have the same issue. I have USB debug activated/on, rooted, tried various tricks and switching the way of app processing in TB and none worked. I cannot restore previously backedup system apps at all
same problem here!
also, converting a user app to a system app fails the same way!

I too am unable to restore system apps backed up by Titanium Backup with Titanium Backup. I'm running the latest version of Titanium Backup (Pro), stock KitKat 4.4.2 on a Samsung Galaxy Light (SGH-T399N), rooted with SuperSU 2.50+Pro. The restore process never completes but will run forever without any error messages until I kill it externally with Task Manager. Converting a non-system app to a system app behaves the same way...tries forever without completing. From the number of earlier posts in this thread it's obvious I'm not alone. The only suggested solution I've encountered that seems applicable to my situation is to replace SuperSU with Superuser. I'm loathe to do that and hoping the problem is something else.
Same here, already tried Indirect App Processing but no help. Had this problem with my old Xperia V running CM Rom never figured how to fix it
Titanium backup is not supposed to be used to restore system apps. If I'm correct even the developer of the app says not to restore system apps with Titanium.
I have used Titanium backup for years to restore purchased apps but never system apps. Never had a problem reinstalling backups of apps.

Hi,
anyone else with the same Problem?
Since KitKat (and still with Lollipop 5.1.1) the Titanium Backup function to include Systemapp Updates to the ROM fails. Happens at all Google Apps, FileCommander and Sony Apps.
There is no Error Message. In some cases it only deletes the App completeley and in other cases the progress is running endless (tested for 1 Hour without completion).
Device is Bootloader unlocked, rooted (SuperSU)....... any Hints?
Hmm I had no issue with kitkat, but it definitely does not work with lollipop.
Issue is with tb it's not going to create a subfolder and put libs in subfolder.
If you want to integrate apps, copy the apk from data directory and paste it over system apk, and then replace all the libs using same process.
Reboot phone so it optimized new system apk, then under normal application management uninstall app and replace with factory version (which will be new version)
Reboot and you should be good, restore data if you need to.

Can you give me the necessary Directorys for Internal Memory Apps and System Apps, please?
It's /data/app/ and system apps are either in /system/app or /system/priv-app/
If you go into TB backup/restore, find the app, touch it for more options, right under the freeze option touch the name and it'll give you exact locations as well

Hi!
Is TB do an update to fix this bug ?
I try to contact them to many times and no one answer me.
Did you find another app to do that ?
Did you still with manual methode ?
Tks
Still broken, only manual method works.
It's like it can't make subfolders in system
Just do it manually not so bad. Copy the updated files from data to system app folder, change permissions and hot reboot.
Android will do the rest.. no data loss or having to install/uninstall.
