This only happens with the back camera, and it's not caused by the camera app. I also tried rebooting but it didn't help. Is this a hardware issue?

How do you know it isn't caused by the camera app? How many camera apps have you tested?
Transmitted via Bacon
I've tested google camera, snapchat, and the cyanogenmod camera. How many do I need to test?
That should be sufficient, I take it you're getting the vertical lines on all cameras?

Yeah exactly , I showed both images from Google camera and cyanogen in the album and they all had lines. I just didn't include the snapchat one because I thought it would be redundant.

The first thing I'd try would be a factory reset. If that doesn't work then I'd perform a full wipe and flash clean, either CM11S or a custom ROM.

I think it was the lighting actually, i change rooms a few times, no lines. So this might be it, I'm going to keep an eye for the next few days and take pictures in different lighting
Does that room have vertical blinds on the windows?

That's a completely different situation, not at all like the one described in this thread.

Since this thread already exists, I was hoping I can ask a question about an issue that I have that is similar in a way. When I try to record in slow motion or even use a qr scan code app, I get weird lines going through my screen, is this software or is my camera messed up? I know it is not from the cyanogen camera app because I also tried a third party qr scanner app. This is an example I just recorded. Any ideas? Thanks!
Same problem

SImilar Issue
I have a similar issue with back camera in my OPO. I get black spots on the lower left corner. Is this a software bug or is this a manufacturing defect?
This only happens with cm Roms and google camera app while flash on. I tried to replicate with PA 4.6 ROM and it was taking pictures well. This does not happen on cm camera . so its definitely a software bug.
Hey,
I've started to experience the same issue.
Screenshots attached.

I've the same problem with the CM12 Unofficial and the CM12 Camera. For now I've not yet tried the Google Camera, but I've also tried to use Camera FX, that have the same issue.
Now I'm testing the new version of FV-5, that some people say that fix this issue.
EDIT: What are the difference between google camera and CM12 camera? they seems identical!

Solved!!! One plus camera issue with CM12
This started happening a couple of months ago, then I finally found somebody that said simply uninstall the Google camera, uninstall the CM camera, them install the one plus one 11s camera. I did and the photos are pretty awesome now.
Just reflash the custom rom "YOG4PAS1N0" :good: hope it helps you.

Sansa Prime 6.0 Camera issue
Hi, I've decided to try a custom rom for my Inspire 4g and I've chosen the Sabsa Prime 6.0 ( since it has Sense 4.0 it seemed appealing ). Everything works great except camera. My image gets blurred and a bit yellowish when I press the button, however before I press, image seems ok. Maybe camera application could be trying to enhance the photo but screwing it up instead. I've tried changing settings of camera but stil lthe same. Didn't tried another camera application, I'll try, later. Anyone else got that problem too?

Hi there.
A new camera mod/app from S4 Google Edition has leaked. You can install it like a normal app and you don't lose your Sense camera! I gave it a short try and it seems to work, but i had not enough time to test all (especially photosphere, but it should do). Also the Gallery is included.
If you wanna try, you can download here: http://goo.gl/02po9

This works on the Boost mobile variant but I couldn't pick the image quality so the pictures didn't come out good.

I did not change the img quality (its on 5 mp) and for me it works. All pics are fine and i can watch them on gallery.
I have just tried it on my stock K2_UL running 4.1.2. It installs just fine, the gallery app works, the camera starts, but it doesn't seem to be able to focus properly, even in perfect lighting conditions.
Working GREAT on my Boost SV. Thanks bro.
Nice that it work for you bro, you got a pm.

I use always sense 5 camera.
I think the most interesting feature of this camera here is photosphere.
Change photo/video storage location?
I installed this on my hTC One SV on Boost mobile. The camera stores videos/pictures on the internal phone storage partition. Is there any way to modify this app so it stores the photos/videos on the external SD card? I've tried going into Settings->Storage & changing camera storage location there. This camera does not seem to be affected by that setting.
Thank you for your help...
As it seems that S4 Google Edition has no external sdcard i don't think that there is an option for that.
This camera works better than the stock/Sense5 one. Stock camera often takes blurry photos.

...but it causes random freezes, like i explained in another thread:
I believe that my problems lie in S4 Camera app and not in internal memory switch or dropbox... That saddens me, because S4 Camera app produced much better pics than the stock Sense camera
I dont know why and how those freezes happen, but it happens after taking the picture, when screen turns off. When phone freezes, picture (file) gets corrupted and unreadable.
I also remember one time happening when gallery (S4) remained opened and phone screen turned off.
While i had dropbox auto-sync enabled it happened more often, but turning it off didnt make the problem to go away, rather it made it happen slightly more rarely.

Hi
I tried to take a photo for a white wall with flash in dark room.
What made me feel bad with google camera app is there are two area divided on the photo shown in the attachment
Meanwhile, the stock camera app was just fine as normal.
I'm using opo 64g with blisspop 1.4, any idea?
Thanks
I've never liked the Google Camera anyway, the stock one is as good as can be for normal users anyway.

Bro, you should never attach you're emotional well being to a camera app. You can never give a truly objective GPlay Store review if you do this. I would think that by hanging your emotions on a camera app would just be a determinant to your health in general.
It's a known issue when you make photos with flashlight with the Google Camera.
You can turn off the flashlight...
After many camera app testings, Camera FV5 rocks. Of course full version.
Even had problems with stock camera, got pixelated lines when i recorded video.
In FV5 no problems.
Good luck.
Hello,
Today i purchased a Google Pixel 2 XL 64GB model. I was a proud owner of the Google Pixel XL.
There is one thing bugging me on the 2 XL. Whenever i take photos using the stock camera app with the front facing camera the lighting corrects in such a weird way so photos look really weird.
This also happens with other apps like Snapchat and Instagram.
Does anyone know if i can turn off color correction for just the camera or something?
Thanks in advance!
Please upload an example of your issue.

Please see the YouTube link below - I believe they address the issue of pics taken vs. pics viewed via phone display vs. pics viewed via Instagram/Snapchat. This critique is towards the end of video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O46BgKsE148
Color correction
The video didnt come close to the actual problem im having.
For example when i try to make a selfie using snapchat or instagram, before i take the picture my face has pale natural color which is perfect. when i took the picture and look it up in my Photo gallery it just looks awful.
My skin color turned greyish. This has nothing to do with the lighting in the area im in. Ive tried many different areas when taking pictures and they all result in the same weird greyish color
Pics or it didn't happen...
There is some known issue's with Pixel 2 and will be fixed by releasing patch and this would be a permanent solution.
Take a picture with hdr+ off and see if there any difference.
Here are some examples
This one is a picture before it has actually been taken, so its a preview
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1C_AJVL93j52oSQ-5N9bIk2fvW4cuMqZOYQ
This is the actual saved picture
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1G2KVE_I0oeCKC9lp4hNHzo6YfhhWlshing
As you can see it has some difference and the saved picture just looks worse.
Another example.

Did you reboot? This is, I think, the way it works.
The Visual Core you enabled doesn't work for the viewfinder preview in non-stock-camera apps, and I'm not sure it ever will.
Either turn hdr off in these apps if you prefer the blown-out look, or use the stock app and add to instagram app

I honestly don't see the issue in your samples. The only thing I noticed is that you're using snap chat which takes terrible low resolution photos. That night be one reason why the image looks so bad.
its a problem of snapchat, try taking pic in instagram with pixel core on , instagram, facebook, twitter take awesome photos but snapchat its a trash

Edit: I installed new version V4 and it's fixed
I just wanted to know 1 thing please, I installed pixel experience on Xiaomi Note4x, Do I need to modify build prop with persist.camera.HAL3.enabled=1 for your camera to be fully supported?
Edit2: (Sorry..) The app still crashes sometimes , and it get stuck with flash led open and doesnt take a pic :/
App crashes sometimes, camera stopped working, relaunch and keep stopped working and stop. Relaunch again with hdr off, can take picture, after took it, stopped working, relaunch turn on hdr, take a picture, failed, and stopped working. Keep on repeating until restart the phone, everything normal for while like few hours, and crashes occur again. @cardinal OREO rom

I have installed This latest version of Camera from the first post in this thread. I am using AOSIP ROM with Oreo 8.1 with Electrablue Kernel. Camera is working great for the first time for me. Picture quality is insanely Good. And Camera is stable. I found only one problem, If snaps are taken too fast (2 snaps) in Portrait mode, App crashes & none of photos from both snaps are saved. However, I can live with that. Because It can take Great Portrait photos in both front and rear camera. Great piece of work.
