For some reason Gnow does no longer show my commute card. It does send me an alert in case there is traffic delay, then when i click the notification it brings me to gnow but there is no traffic card!
The same happens on my nexus 10 so it must be an account thing. i do remember that i once accidently once swiped away the card so that might be the problem.
Updates about travel time is set to on, home and work places are set. I even removed all Google search data but that only resulted in having to set my homescreens again.
How do i get the travel card back?

Anyone know of a security app.. you know the type you can send a message to to lock the phone, delete data, or send back a msg with gps location.
The killer is ... i need one that can enable the gps ... last time i looked i couldnt find one.. I am rooted so that is not an issue.. but normally my gps is off so need one that can enable it.
thanks in advance/
Try Mobile Defense. As long as you install it as a root app it will allow it to enable gps
WaveSecure is the best one around. Can access your phone online. U can lock it, back it up, track it through the gps, and even do a full wipe to ur phone all through the web.
+1 for mobile defense
I just recently intalled mobile defense and so far I really like it. With it, you can enable GPS (if rooted) to track it, send a message to the phone, lock the phone, and view details about the phone like remaining battery and wifi/data status. When sending a message you have the added option of a loud siren going off to make sure they get the message and requiring a PIN to turn off the siren if you want. Also, if some one removes your sim card and inserts their own you still have control of the phone. It also will tell you the details of the new sim card like their phone number and carrier via email.
If you intall MD as a system app it makes it unable to be uninstalled via the phones uninstaller programs and will not show up in the programs list. This can be done very easily because just today hah2110 released a zip that can be flashed with your custom recovery. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=689350
Wave secure is the only other full feature option that I know of, with the added benifit of being able to backup, restore, and wipe your data remotely. But, this comes at a $20/year subscription. I haven't tried WS personally but I hear good things about it.
dont seem to like either.. why do i need to goto their website to track a phone.. if i pay i just want to be able to get a txt message that shows location on google maps.
using wheres my droid for now in conjuntion with smartprofile which lets me send a message to turn on a profile which has gps enabled.

Haven't yet had a chance to try it, but have sent a few emails back and forth with them, where they answered some technical questions.
Anyone know how to get the Weather Card to always show for your current location? I have it checked but sometimes it is not there. It just says "No Google Now cards right now".

Haven't had that issue yet? Do you have location services enabled and what setting do you have it on?
Other than that, only thing I would say is for you to check Google Now settings.

Location services are On - highly accurate and I have it set to Yes for Interested In Weather Updates For Your Location and Continue To Get Weather Updates.

I encountered a similar issue as well. I started panicking when I couldn't find my weather card, and ended up turning off Google Now, and then turning it back on. I had never done so previously, and as a result Google Now has to compile data again for cards to appear as they used to. When turning Google Now on and off, it did bring back the weather card. I noticed that the weather card will not appear for me if I have the location settings as Device Only. I am not really sure what you use the Device Only option for compared to the Battery Savings mode. Does anyone know the pro/cons? While in Device Only, I had a card that prompted me to turn on location based settings if I wanted to see my weather or commute cards again.

Different question and slightly off-topic. What is the difference between "Continue to get weather updates" and "Interested in weather updates for your location". Do these settings affect Google Now cards, notifications or both?
I want weather cards, but no weather notifications. By the way: I also want navigation/traffic cards, but no notifications. I can't seem to find a solution, but maybe these two weather settings influence the notifications? If I don't get a reply in the next week or so, I will continue searching and maybe even post a thread about it.
On the 7th I traded my Nexus 4 into T-Mobile for a Nexus 5. On the 8th, I unlocked the bootloader and sideloaded the stock 4.4.1 OTA file. Today, all of a sudden, my location starts showing 35 miles away without me leaving the house. I turned off and on Location services, and it reset back to my actual location. A short bit later, it did it again to the exact same location.
I called Google, they told me to factory reset. I did. When it was booting up and updating apps, it prompted me to install the 4.4.2 update, which I did. After doing all of that, it repeated the exact issue. I went into my Location History on Google Maps online and deleted all the history for today which fixed it. But it keeps jumping back and forth between my Home location and this other place.
I called Google again liked they asked, and they told me to change my Location setting from High Accuracy to Device Only... and to just keep it that way. But it sucks that way. I asked could it be a hardware problem, if so, I would return it to T-Mobile. She said, "I wouldn't return it just for that issue alone." I also told her I was worried it may be a security issue since I had just handed in my old phone, and she guaranteed me it couldn't be a security issue.
Alright well... I'm lost. Unless someone here has some magic advice, I will return it tomorrow.
The attachment is from my Location History and shows the two locations 1 minute apart.
If you are just using 3G then it might be a IP address change on the towers but if you are also using WIFI for location then yeah something is up. I use High and it only uses GPS when using Maps/Navigation. Otherwise everything such as google now and such uses low power anyways.

The entire time I was having the problem, I was at home connected to wifi.
So far today, it has been working like it should and hasn't given me any trouble.
I should probably mention that, along with that problem, the phone was having other issues as well. Google Now wasn't showing me cards, even though my location was working - I was unable to enter my account under the Backup and Reset settings menu - and Sound Search kept giving me syncing errors. Maybe these were all related or caused by the same problem, don't know. After removing my account from Google Now and adding it back as well as some other stuff, I was able to resolve them all.
One other thing I will say is that I was running a sideloaded version of 4.4.1 (unlocked, stock recovery, not rooted) when I did the factory reset, which I thought would reset it back to 4.4. However, when it booted back up, I had a System Update notification telling me to update to 4.4.2, but the file size was only 1.7 mb or so. How did it bypass the size of the 4.4.1 update? Or am I wrong when assuming a factory reset sets it back to its original version?
Hello, I really hope someone here can help me out. My girlfriend has a GS3, and when she sends text messages to certain people, it will give her location automatically via text message. I have never seen it from my end when I text her, but just now I got this after I sent her a text message: "Attention word received, Getting location. Please wait up to 5 minutes for a response." and then a few moments later I received, " GPS location failed, Network-based location: Accuracy 30 Meters..." and then gave her full location; Latitude, longitude, speed, and bearing and then gave a google maps link to her location and the address of where she is. She has asked me to help get her to turn it off before, and I've tried to research it but have not been able to find anything. Please help!

That sounds disconcerting. Have you started with checking her installed apps to see if this is caused by an app? Is she the primary account holder for her S3? If not, is it possible a parent enabled this feature as part of the plan?

I just went through her apps and I did not see anything that may be giving away her location. I told her to go through and uninstall any apps she's not using, because I know she has a lot, so maybe she'll get rid of it then. And yes, she is the primary account holder, I was with her when she got the phone.
Either of you using the Where's My Droid app? Sounds like your triggering an attention word. Google "attention word received" and see if that helps you.

Are you using stock message or Hangouts or third party?
First of all.. Evidently the 4.4.4 OTA forced itself to my Note 3, and screwed up location services (I was trying not to install it, but after saying no half a dozen times, I went to check something on Facebook, only to find my phone 73% through with the update process without my permission.. it removed the GPS hotlink or whatever you want to call it, and replaced it with a general "location services" button. So I can't just leave power saving location services on all the time and just switch GPS on and off when I want (like I always used to).. I have to dig into the settings and switch from power saving to high accuracy every time I want to turn GPS on. Or I can turn all location services off, and get constantly nagged by my apps telling me they need location services while I'm sitting at home on WiFi.
..and now when I try to get on XDA forums for help, it won't let me log in.. keeps telling me I have the wrong password (which I know I am entering the correct password, and the captcha for retrieving lost password doesn't work. If I click on the box to enter the captcha, it moves the cursor back to the email box. I can get the cursor in the right place by tabbing through the page, but every time I enter it I'm told it's wrong. Tried both image and audio, and obviously I'm entering the correct captcha, but it still won't let me retrieve my password (which again, I shouldn't even have to because I know what my password is).
Hi,
Please use this link to email xda about your account issues. Not much you can do until you can log in, since visitors cannot post anywhere on XDA.
