Hello everyone,
My friend has a T-Mobile One S that is completely stock and unrooted.
I was wondering if there is a way to be able to hide applications from the app drawer without rooting the device.
Does anyone know a way of doing this with the default launcher?
I have looked at a few apps in the play store and couldn't find anything.
Any help you can give would be appreciated.
Thank you.
As far as I know this is not possible without using Xposed modules or third party apps and both requires root. An alternative is to use a different Launcher that has the "hide app" option included but that might not be desired

Hello all,
I am having some difficulties trying to get advanced launcher working. Actually, its just that some of my widgets refuse to work with it. I'm using the stand alone from the market, should I try the replacement from the topic on xda? Or just give up on wanting to hide apps in the drawer?

Good info but change the title reflecting of what the content is "Video tutorial: How to hide apps in Android using Launcher Pro".
Obviously, many people using various types of different launchers.
usefull video, thanks
you can also hide your apps without having to change from stock launcher by using Hide It Pro!! You have to have a rooted phone and also have usb debugging turned on! Enjoy
Nice little tutorial. As stated there's also the option of downloading a few Play Store Apps that will hide any apps of your choosing as well.
Howdy All,
I am not going to be allowed to root my new sensation phone for work. I would still like to do custom ROM/Kernel/Recovery/ETC on my Sensation.
Can I do this?
Well you can't overclock, use any apps like Rom Manager or SetCpu. You can't install any custom roms as they all come pre-rooted ( to my knowledge). You can't really do anything at all.
You could unroot a custom rom, but what's the point?
you could root it then hide the superuser icon with a launcher app. what kind of job wont let you do what you want with your phone? go into su first and allow automatic access hide all notifications then hide the app with something like apex launcher prime or any launcher that allows hiding.

My company is implementing the "Bring Your Own Device" for cell coverage. They are giving us a stipend, but I will have to install Airwatch/Touchdown as well. Airwatch will be able to tell if it is rooted. If they catch me, then I could get fired.
I am required to be available by cell. Unfortunate, but what I have to deal with right now.
Thanks for the replies
Yeah there's no need to be fired over being able to change the color of a battery meter.
I need help from some serious power users/hackers to find out how my girlfriend is hiding apps on her (unrooted) GS6. I'm a medium-advanced Android user, but this is some good stuff. I know that it may have to do with the notification shade, as she constantly checks it to see if there is anything new, but she has somehow (not through normal OS) disabled chimes and icons in notification bar. I believe that she may have "vaulted" apps, but can't find anything conspicuous in the app manager (even when displaying system files). I believe she can basically hide or "ghost" any app so that it doesn't appear in recent app list, app drawer, or app manager. Is anyone aware of such apps?
One thing I noticed that seems a bit different is in her notification access menu (settings/lock screen and security/other security settings/notification access) there is an entry called "Notification" that I don't normally see.
I'm wondering if maybe it's a dual-boot setup where she can choose which apps to hide from the normal boot via a rooted "clone" boot of the OS? Or maybe an easy way/shortcut to root, then hide apps, then unroot?
Any other ideas?
Oh, also: No custom launcher in use from what I can tell; stock Touch-Wiz only.

Hello,
I allready started a thread about that and I'm sorry to repost but I think in this section I might find more luck.
So my problem is, that I've a crappy china android device, on which a very poor version of Launcher3 is preinstalled. I wan't to install a different Launcher like Nova.
But the thing is as soon as you install any other Launcher, most of the Apps disappear.
All those Apps are hidden in one App called com.ts.mainui8, and the shortcuts to the individual Apps are only stored in the stock Launcher. Never shown in the app tab of settings or anything else, just custom shortcuts premade on the stock launcher.
So how do I recreate those App Shurtcuts on another Launcher? Is there any App I could install that tells me the exact path of those shortcuts on the stock Launcher and even then I still not know how to make new complete custom ones.
I am usually a Windows guy, in windows for example the explorer.exe contains many many Applications, like most settings, to create a network settings shortcut for example you have to type "C:\Windows\explorer. exe" ms-settings:network-ethernet . There must a way to do a similar thing in android, but how?
Really hope anyone could help me with that, thanks people.
OK finally found a Solution for my Problem, the App Activity Launcher allows to ceate certain shortcuts, thanks anyway
