Hi,
I have a Xperia M2 Dual with firmware 18.3.B.0.31
A few days ago, a notification informed me that a new update was released for my device, with the same firmware number (18.3.B.0.31), and a 16,5 MB size
When I download the update (with the update center within the device or with Sony PC Companion), the update fails to install and the message "Failed verification" appears.
My device is rooted and I then tried to unroot it, which I did successfully, but still impossible to install this update. What can be done? If someone has an idea, please let me know.
Thanks a lot
If it's same version, just ignore it. Otherwise, download the update with xperifirm and create the .ftf from it with flashtool and flash it (make sure to not flash the data part, else you will lose the data on your internal memory).
The "verification failed" message appeared for me as well, I assume it's because I unlocked the bootloader, so it can't find some keys to verify the signature of the update

Hi all,
I have problem updating my generally new Samsung SCH-I415 Stratosphere 2. I got an update package ZIP, that has been downloaded by Phone form Verizon directly. I took it to my SD card and tried to flash from stock recovery, but it has status 7 error. Phone was probably rooted before and now, on welcome screen, it shows unlocked padlock above Custom notification. I have managed to make system status to normal, but it didn't changed much - still got status 7 error. Is there any option to flash/install this update.zip on that phone? There is no firmware available for this model, no custom ROM or recovery. Please help :/
PS is there any modification to do in update.zip that I could make, to run it propely? I have found that in update-script I should remove some assert line, but when I have done that, it says ZIP signature failed.
Ok, I finally got it - it's really hard to find Odin flashable firmware to this device. Here it is: http://updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model?q=sch-i415&exact=1
Damn. I have downloaded updates from verizon and tried to flash again that firmware. Now I got "firmware upgrade encountered an error". Is there any chance to fix it/or get into recovery to factory reset?
Hi !
Thus thread isn`t for your device but it looks like it`s a workaround

Good luck !
This model is not supported by kies unfortunatelly....
My Xperia XZ Dual was with Chinese firmware originally. In order to use Google services, months ago I flashed the HK firmware (39.0.A.1.250) whose Android version was 6.0.1 to my phone.
Later when the Android 7.0 was released, I noticed that my phone couldn't receive firmware update anymore. It does show "a new update is available" in the Xperia Care app, but when I tap to update, it always says that "your device is already in lastest version".
Is the update somehow relatived to the IMEI, so I cannot receive any push of my current firmware anymore? And what's more important, is there any way to get an incremental update, instead of a whole new 7.0 flashing?
download new 7.1.1 ftf and flash with flashtool, many times told, search before post next time !

Gotta, sorry for that.
My device is huawei mate 8 29lC636B180, and the revised version after the current is 29LC636B193
Previously I installed version nrd90m testkeys, I brought them to technician to fix and my phone is currently working. But there is a problem that the phone only has a single theme, in the theme application when clicked apply it the message "has applied theme" but nothing happens.
I fix it by unlocking the bootloader and flash userdata.img but still can not fix it.

I try to load twrp and root but failed at root "device not found" even though the phone is still connected

Has anyone solved this problem please help

Thats happened when you factory reset..you can overcome the problem if you flash new firmware..try check your update system..if not successful to update through ota then try download from firmware finder in play store
I recently bought a ROG Phone 5s here in Japan, and it came on the WW-18.1220.2111.164 firmware.
I got into a bootloop trying to mount as readwrite, and the problem got worse until I was at a seeming brick with black screen. But I saved my phone using johhny886's guide here.
Upon flashing the firmware he provided, my phone is now back to normal but on WW-18.1220.2109.126.
System update checks and says "Your system is up-to-date." I tried a factory reset and interestingly it keeps me on WW-18.1220.2109.126.
WW-18.1220.2111.164 is downloadable from ASUS's website here and it comes in a zip file. How do I manually install this? Or can I?
There is also a newer WW-18.1220.2112.175, but it says "This firmware is only for ROG Phone 5S/5S Pro ID version". I thought about going to this newest version but that message scares me since I don't know what ID is here. WW-18.1220.2111.164 listed as "WW-18.1220.2111.164 for WW/EU/TW/JP version only." Device's country is listed as JP so I figured it's safer to go back to this.
Place that zip file you have downloaded in your phone internal storage (not inside any folders). Once you have placed it in the root of your internal storage just restart your phone. After restart unlock your phone and it will automatically detect that update file within a minute and ask you to update.
The ID version is Indonesian version. So choose JP version for you always.
I just did that and successfully updated as you posted. Somehow as soon as I go to post online I figure stuff out lol.
Thank you for the assistance, I was afraid and wanted to be careful.
Im wondering if anyone has tried to use Xperia Companion (XC) to install firmware other than the latest available. XC uses firmware files located in the ...UpdateEngine\localstorage\US\ folder, so i thought i could swap them with files downloaded from Xperifirm. I even renamed Android12 binary files with Android11 filenames, but appears XC is too smart for me. Trying to Repair offline doesn't work either.
I ask because im now on Android12 and would like to go back to Android11, but im having no luck. Flashtool comes up with errors, Newflasher gives me the "Your device is corrupted" warning.
I'll get there eventually, i hope.
From what I understand you'd have to do a clean install and also unlock bootloader once you go up an Android level you can go back sorry I can't help you
