Q&A for [Toolkit] Mac OS X Toolkit for unlocking, flashing, rooting
Some developers prefer that questions remain separate from their main development thread to help keep things organized. Placing your question within this thread will increase its chances of being answered by a member of the community or by the developer. Thanks for understanding and for helping to keep XDA neat and tidy!

I am getting the following error and can't even open it. Any ideas?
Hello,
just downloaded the OnePlusOne Toolkit for rooting my phone. Sadly it does not work.
Using OS X 10.10.2.
Thanks in advance!
Would be cool if it can be upgraded to allow you to choose which stock version you want to go back to when returning to stock.
Thank you - worked great.
OS X Yosemite (10.10.2)
I am having a same issue.
What should I do?
Please let me know...

Hey,
I recently rooted my note 2 via some YouTube link.. Now for some reason I am still getting over the air updates and my recovery mode always goes into the Samsung recovery (only options are wipe data and some others.. The screen is black with a green android mascot )
However all the root apps are working.. So what do I do£
Do I install the update which has come over the airborne not?
Thanks for the help..
You should send us a link to the youtube link and you should get a rom off XDA, it works better and you get more support.
Hope it helps

Have you even gone to the thread for your device and read there? That should be the first thing you do before you do anything on your phone. Following some youtube video then coming here for help is not very considerate. Also you provided no information.
Luckily for you. You have root access but you haven't installed a custom recovery yet. You need to do that next. Then install the rom of your choice. Look in the development section for your device and read the stickies. Good luck.

unfortunately this happened and now it has come notice that xda is the overlord of sorts in android .. at the time i didnt kow else i would have followed the xda guide..
hence i ask NOW WHAT.
should i unroot ?
my recovery goes into stock recovery and cwm or twer recovery doesnt work properly .. so hence my question was thus framed..

Hey XDA'ers
few days ago I tried to reset my phone to stock settings and I had stock Rom and everything on except it was rooted and I had twrp on it.
I accidently wiped everything on my phone including the OS itself and thats what you call having a soft bricked phone i think
cause I can still turn in on and enter Bootloader and TWRP.
so I looked everywhere on the internet for the Stock Htc one m8 OS ROM and found nothing at all but lookalikes etc so I searched through some the ROMS and found viper. I have downloaded ViperOne and put it on my SDcard i dont know if im supposed to have S-off to use viper ? or if im supposed to have stock OS and apply Viper to that ? but after successful installation it Reboots and enters Bootloader instantly everythime i turn it on I used to have to turn phone on and hold power button plus volume up then down to enter bootloader but now it just goes straight into that. ive wiped all data chache everything except SDcard
many times and tried to reinstall viper after deleting everything again but with no luck
i will apreciate it alot if any one could help me since i have no other phone and my Htc one m8 is pretty new
Thanks in advance
Hi,
What you need is a RUU (firmware), for your exact model. The M8 section has development sections for each model/carrier....looking through the development section for your exact device will have the RUU you need and likely flashing instructions.
If you need further help, please post in the Q&A section under the M8...here is a link to the main M8 section.
HTC One M8
Good luck!
This may be a better thread to ask for help in also,

If you want people to try to help you, you need to try to help yourself first. Have you even tried searching (both XDA and google) for your answer? The info you need is very easy to find. I'll give you a hint- MultiROM.

Hello everybody ,
Since I'm new in here, I'm just starting this thread here in this General Section because I just want to say a hello to all and I want to ask some questions also.
I just bought a new LYF Flame 7 phone with Lollipop(v 5.1) and this is my first Android phone ever. That means I'm new to both Android and Android forums like this. Now I want to learn about it. Not just the basic stuff, because I want to be a developer in this field. So this basic budget phone is perfect for learning. Before I'm buying this phone I was using Nokia C6 Symbian phone which I bought about 3 or 4 years ago and I utilized it in every way(except programming) . I'm always a tech lover but I was unable to stay updated with it because of financial problems I had (and still have). Luckily, now I got an Android phone (even though its basic model) and its time to learn about it. So friends please direct me to helpful threads here. From basics of Android to intermediate to advanced to etc etc etc ......... I wish to learn about rooting,ROM backing-up,customization,changing ROM,app development and so on, and you know....
I'm using computers since 6th grade and I'm very friendly with Windows but not Linux. I don't know much about Linux, only basic things,I mean very basics and I heard Android is based on Linux core I think I have to learn about it too. So please help me about it too.
With a few days usage I learned something about it but i also had some issues.
Issue No 1: I can't customize menu and I asked some of my friends who already using Android for a long time about it. they told me the Android I have is basic Google release and it doesn't support customization. I have to install launchers.
No. 2: I Can't properly tether with Windows 8.1 PRO 32 bit.when I thether Windows freezes and Internet is not fast enough. (Its Jio 4G LTE)
No.3: I can't uninstall many useless apps that consumes RAM.
AND MORE ISSUES WILL BE COMING AS I USE IT MORE.
PS :-
"" I tried to express my wish in a language other than my my mother tongue, so i don't know how many of you understood about what I mean , but honestly I tried to share it with you, even though we don't know each other. But what I believe is if somebody want to express something, and their wish is good enough, then language is not a barrier. And I think you understood me. So please help me. And once again I repeat,I'm a newbie in Android.
If anybody need more detail,I can explain again .""
Once again HELLO to all and thanks to all.

Hello Vikrant . Welcome to XDA.
I think you are also a newbie like me.
And yeah, we need to solve the heating problem.
But what I think is first we need to root our device and uninstall all of that useless factory Google apps and some other apps.
And , if still there is problem, then we may have to work on kernel.
But in order to work with kernel , we must have deep knowledge about Android and Linux's core.
And of course we'll learn( in fact,we are already learning).
We'll also help each other.
One question, have you backedup your ROM ? And did you Root your device?
Asking because I haven't done both yet and I'm currently planning to do. But there are some little confusions.
Easy

I think now I can Root. Because my phone now have another rom . I got this new rom from official Jio Care . I went there because I bricked my device when tried to flash a recovery found from the internet. I tried this flashing because the 'factory test mode' was gone after I tried to root with king root .it was showing a 'no command' error when I am trying to go to 'factory test mode' I did that flashing only to restore that. But it ended in a bricked device. So I had to go there and they helped me. I also asked them for stock rom but they didn't give me. I didn't check king root yet with this rom.
