Fonts are located at /system/fonts/
Just take a font (and it's bold version if you want bold text to look right) and rename them:
DroidSans.ttf
DroidSans-Bold.ttf
Drop them in /system/fonts using ADB or Root Explorer and reboot. Mission accomplished. Keep in mind, ICS now uses Roboto instead, so on ICS, the same concept applies but rename them:
Roboto-Regular.ttf
Roboto-Bold.ttf
Roboto-Italic.ttf
Roboto-BoldItalic.ttf
I m using CM9 also. I use app Font changer from market and change font size and font.

6. Scroll down a bit and Now you will see something like this

2. Back up the original ICONS file to external or wherever
3. Copy the attached ICONS file and set root permissions
4. Restart
MAKE SURE IN THEME MANAGER YOUR USING THE DEFAULT THEME

Can't change my emojis

Anyone know what I might be doing wrong? I have tried the "flashable" emojis. Both extracting the font file and replacing the NotoColorEmoji.ttf in the system folder using twrp. Then I set the permissions to 0644 using chmod. Nothing happens, flashing is the same. Is the file called something else on the op7p?
Change manually bro .. Follow this thread
https://forum.xda-developers.com/general/general/root-stock-emoji-fonts-ios-windows10-t3418801
I. Back up existing NotoColorEmoji.ttf from /system/fonts (Recommended File Explorer)
II. Download modded .ttf file (zip), extract the zip (Newer zips are flashable)
III. Copy-paste modded .ttf file to the same location /system/fonts, overwriting the existing one. Change permissions to rw-r-r (0644) and reboot.
IV. Enjoy your new emojis

how to install fonts on system manually?

to add fonts in the system i just need to add it to /system/fonts and edit /system/etc/fonts.xml?
the apps will recognize the font after it?
