[Q] Droid Maxx quick settings general question - Droid Ultra Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I noticed that when I go to my droid Maxx quick settings menu that the profile pic from my Google account no longer shows. When I touch the generic pic the settings menu closes and takes my to the home screen with a message that the contact does not exist? Any idea what is up? Also, the wireless and wifi bar graphs are now orange instead of white. Any idea?

Profile info was deleted due to a recent G+ update. I reentered my profile info. IDK about the other part.

my ultra was doing the same thing, do you have more than one google acount linked to the phone? what i did ws delete my secondary account, then rebooted, and tried synching my main google account manually, then after 2 hours it finally showed my pic on quick settings

I checked my Google+ settings and only have one account registered. After reboot of the phone there is no change other than the wireless and mobile data bars have changed from orange back to white. Weird. Not really a big deal just wondering what causes all the changes. Thanks for the input on this issue.

Solved!

So it appears that the profile pic and information is tied to the "Me" profile listed in the People app. I updated that entry with my info and now the profile pic shoes in the Quick Settings menu.

[Q] Email settings after JB 4.1.2 update

Yesterday I received and installed update 4.1.2 for my GT-6200L
Everything works great with one annoying problem: I can not edit email settings.
Overall the settings screen changed, before there was a tab on the right with settings displayed for selected item, now clicking on the item opens new screen with settings for that item. It works for everything except email, where clicking on "General Preferences" or my specific account does nothing...
Already tried factory reset twice.
Any suggestions / ideas as to what happened to my settings ?
Is there any other way to configure it ?

Have you tried device "settings / accounts " and edit or add accounts there rather than from email?

As I said in my original post, it is precisely the Overall device settings screen that is changed.
It has Add and Delete account buttons, which I can use.
It has the text "General Preferences" and it has list of my emails.
But clicking on either "General Preferences" or on any of my emails does nothing.
In the previous version the settings were displayed in the panel on the right.
I am attaching the picture to illustrate what I mean.
This is what happens when I click Settings->Email
No idea. There's no setting that affects this/
I have the stock JB 4.1.2 om my P6210 and its fine, This page has the normal split screen with accounts on one side and the settings on the other.
You are totally stock ROM? Have not altered your DPI settings?

[Q] Lollipop email account selection changed?

I just loaded D801 TMO LP Extreme and did a reset. It's working great except selecting email accounts seems to have changed. I used to click the menu at the top left and click the account I wanted, that was all. Now clicking that menu and clicking an account gives me more choices of what folder I want to go to. Any way to switch it back to the simple, inbox default, selection method? Screenshot attached in case you don't know what I'm talking about.

S8+ Facebook messenger chat heads

I have recently moved from iPhone to the s8. I do not get chat heads at all with messenger, is it still supported? I’d really like to get this enabled. I have checked google and searched the issue and can only find how to turn it off. I have ensured on top notification is enabled. I have a galaxy tab also, it did work previously but is now experiencing the same thing. Is this a nougat issue? I have no setting in my Facebook messenger for chat heads either. Thanks in advance for any help.
Make sure you don't have Messenger Lite.
Check the screen overlay permissions.
Borrowed from android central.
- Launch Settings from your home screen.
- Scroll down and tap on Apps.
- Tap the overflow menu button in the top-right corner and tap Special access.
- Tap on Apps that can appear on top.
- Find Messenger and make sure it's turned on.
I physically do not have a toggle to turn it on in messenger

I have logged out, removed , restarted and re installed, cleared data and cleared cache. I can get the function of chat heads by using an app called flychat that's the only way I can get the function.
I checked a friends Verizon phone his selection reads "draw on top" my unlocked phone reads " apps that appear on top" I have for enabled but still nothing appears
The only way I got it to work was to log out and start like it was a new account, now chat heads works perfectly, need to figure out how to associate new messenger profile with old facebook account
Same issue
I have had my S8+ for a few weeks now and am experiencing the same issue. Wish I could find the link, but I found something saying it has to do with our facebook UID.
Issue resolved with the latest update to facebook messenger
Mine ignores the off setting

I can't get any notifications! Help!

I got my Note 10 Plus today and everything on it. Anyway, the notification icons do NOT show up on the always on, or on the notification bar on the home screen and on the app buttons. Like if I want to check Gmail or my Samsung email app I have to manually go in and check it.
I checked the apps permissions and I got notifications set on for all of them.
What gives?
Do I need to do factory reset?

Probably a quick toggle accidentally pushed. Check things like do not disturb settings and meeting sync etc.

Me also. Shows Sprint. I get notifications from my V40 which is how I know mail is in unless I check manually.
My Gmail wasn't updating in the background until I went to app settings and TURNED OFF battery optimization for Gmail. It looks like the phone kills the app to save battery, thus stopping new email notifications coming through until you open the app

My GF has a Note 8 and regardless of the settings it loves putting apps to sleep which causes missed notifications. My OP6T used to occasionally get missed notifications but compared to the Note 8 it's very well behaved.
Companies are getting too aggressive with their battery optimisations
I am having this issue as well. I have scoured the web for answers. I have tried all fixes but nothing seems to work. Anyone find a resolve yet?
I had the same issue then figured out it happened with the Goodlock app. Instead of trying to tweak the settings in just uninstalled the app and got all of my notifications back!
