Larger dial pad? - Xperia Z3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys, Pretty sure this is a stupid question as iam pretty sure i cant change it but what the hell. No harm in asking Iam wondering if its possible to make the dialpad bigger? On my htc i had the option to use a small dial pad or full size dialpad but i see no options or settings for the dialpad on the z3? However if you lock the screen and touch 'emergency call' it brings up a larger styled dialpad which is exactly the way i want it . Anyway to make it that way from the home screen ? Iam sure it would be an easy feature to add but its nowhere to be found. . . . . . . or is it?

sms entry application ?

Hi,
Is there any app I can use on my xda2i that will allow me to enter SMS messages on the phone application keypad (or another similar screen keypad) - just like a regular GSM phone. I sometimes find it a right pain takin out the stylus to reply to an sms message.
I would like it if SMS could be send directly from the "phone" app keypad or another similarly styled keypad... you know press number 2 twice for 'B' etc.
Even the SPB fullscreen keyboard is a pain in this situation - just need the numbers and an enter button to enter the text into the messaging app so that you can select recipients or just press send if replying.
A version of spb that worked in portrait with just the number keys would be perfect
Any suggestions ?
Many thanks in advance.
malty.
well, ignore me i'm an idiot..
ive just found the phone pad option on the keyboard prefs and it does EXACTLY what i want
sorry for the waste of a thread !
cheers,
Kev

How do I modify HTC dialing options?

I wasn't sure how to ask this so bare with me.
I have an ATT tilt with the HTC ROM on it. When I go to phone mode and am looking at my keyboard, I have the smartdialing box, the keypad and then three boxes upper-left side = LEFT ARROW (delete), VIDEO CALLING icon, and CALL LIST icon.
VIDEO calling doesn't work and I don't understand what those icons in the CALL LIST (are they received calls? Dialed calls?) are all about. I was wondering if I could switch what those three buttons do? I can't find any ability to change those in OPTIONS..
I suspect that further modification will require cabs or ROM updates?
I have imprecise fingers so the keypad is excellent- I don't want to change that at all.
Thanks guys
yeah.. me too flashed my 1 day old tilt with the htc stock rom... and the dialpad sucks..... no "CALL" button on screen....
Now have to use the keypad and fingers to dial a number and pressing the green call button to actually call... it was quite annoying at the beginning... but now I am gettin used to it.
Still if any registry editing could be done in order to remap the 3 buttons on the right hand side of the dial pad screen, it would be great....
Except for this option, the HTc stock ROM is gr8888888888 !!!!!!
anyone?
There has to be a way to play with the HTC dialpad?
Screen shots?
I like the default dialer.

ok I know this is a painfully dumb question but I've searched and can't find any solution. How do I edit my Kaiser's registry?
Thanks

DIAL PADS!!!!!!!!! Why oh Why?

How come some of the DialPads out there the Iphone (phonePad) and Nargz (iphone) dial pads keep locking up our HTC touchs'?
Also how come developers don't use almost the entire screen as buttons for the dial pad. Even the DialPad that came with the touch has this issue. There's a lot more space that can be utilized to make bigger keys.
Take for example the Vista Style dial pad. Really great DialPad, by the way.
But I don't need to have the Windows icon (in the top right corner), I don't need the Last Call showing, I don't need to see Rogers in the top left corner. That's all real estate that can be used to make bigger keys. Or fit a bigger TALK key.
And please, please to anybody reading this and deciding to modify or developing an existing dial pad or make a new one. Please, I beg you. When there's an incoming call, make the Name / Phone number and the Answer / End keys really, really BIG. That's one of my biggest gripes with the default dialer and the Vista dialer.

Eye candy

What do you guys use for eye candy?
PointUI + S2U2 = Yay
Original release of PointUI has no issues with battery or performance. New release of S2U2 solves a lot of previous problems with landscape orientation. I use S2U2 because it can lock the keys without reverting back to the home screen and hiding PointUI.
Slide using the d-pad, it unlocks and PointUI slides in for a nice smooth feel. It can also unlock the keys and run an application when you slide out the keyboard.
Once I find out how to fix the Caller ID issue with the Green/Answer call key not working, it will be superb.
How do you change the settings for S2U2? I can't seem to change anything...
You'll have to do it through the registry;
HKCU\Software\A_C\S2U2\
Let me know if you're able to answer calls using Caller ID with S2U2 and being able to answer a call, my green button won't work with S2U2.
I already deleted it.
It doesn't have anything extra over my screensaver from smarttools.
the PointUI is kinda nice, if only it could acces the startmenu from Home and if it had the same functionality for dialing contacts. Start typing the name of your contact and Home looks it up in your list. I use that a lot, i don't search for contacts...

[Q] Get directly to dial pad?

Hitting the phone icon on my home screen gets me only to a boring screen from which I have to hit the dialpad icon. Thus, two clicks to get to dial a call. Any way to get a shortcut or whatever so the standard Google phone handset gets to the dialpad with one click, as it does in my AOKP 4.1.1 ROM on my One S?
I have found a very nice widget, Simple Dialer Widget, which puts a mini-keypad on a home screen as a widget. Although smaller than the regular keypad it's plenty big enough to dial on, on the N5's big screen. But I'd still like to know if I can use the plain ol' Google handset. . . .
