I am just curious on what would happen if I were to uninstall Xposed so as to allow a personally experimental switch to ART. That said, I have made use of several cosmetic tweaks and a couple practical ones with the Tweakbox. What would happen to those tweaks? Would they stay? Would it possibly brick the phone for reasons I am not knowledgeable on?
I appreciate your input, and apologize if my questions are useless.
So, I disabled the module, rebooted, uninstalled Xposed, and rebooted again. The results were: most tweaks (other then nav bar menu button and app drawer grid change) reverted, and o was able to successfully change to ART. Results of that pending. I am curious why these tweaks remained.
First note, likely due to remaining tweak, the normal settings nav button menu won't open.

I can't seem to post into the development forums because I'm new, so I guess I'll try here...
Last night I installed xposed + gravitybox module and enabled the Maximize widgets on the lockscreen setting. I've got Dashclock on there at the moment and just slide unlock (no pin/password).
The expanding widget parts works just as it should, and I get the lower lock icon. But when I touch it, I can either slide it up (then it collapses into a lockring and I can unlock in the normal fashion), or I can hold the lock icon and it unlocks. This second case weird to me, it seems like it unlocks way too easily. I know before installing gravitybox, holding down the lock into would only collapse the widget, which is what I would've expected it to do.
I have basically stock n5, 4.4.2, rooted, no other xposed modules installed. Playing around with gravitybox settings doesn't seem to change this weirdness.
Any ideas?? Thanks.
I've got my nexus 5 for a couple of months now, and as soon as I've had it I rooted it and installed the xposed framework for modifications. I use gravity box in order to use pie controls and hide my navigation bar but I kinda miss my on-screen buttons but can't seem to find a way to do it.
Extended desktop mode is off.
I've enabled the navigation bar in gravity box for no success, and tried to used the GMD hide soft keys application but that doesn't seem to work as well (either does several other applications)..
Even tried and disabled gravity box but nav bar just won't come back..
Both the Xposed framework and Gravity box are update
.
I am using the american Nexus 5 32gb model with KK 4.4.2.
Would very much appreciate the assistance!
Either disable expanded desktop or toggle immersive mode off
Both are off (wasn't on in the first place)
You cant have navbar and pie. Its one or the other

Well you dont have to enable nav bar. That master switch in your screenshot is actually just for tweaks. So try set Pie to enable = never and leave nav bar tweaks set to off too.

I actually did that right after I saw your post, and reboot, but still nav bar doesn't seem to pop.
I really don't want to do a factory reset and am hoping to avoid it if possible :\

You should uninstall that GMD thing too.
Sure you've not edited SystemUI in any other ways? You're still on Stock ROM?

All apps I've used and didn't work were uninstalled.
I am on stock 4.4.2 ROM and I don't belive i modifies SystemUI in any way knowingly, how can I check if I have?
BTW, I really appreciate the help! Thanks!
You would know if you had.
Go into the Xposed installer app and uninstall the framework (we can reinstall it later - you wont lose any settings) then reboot. This should rule out anything xposed related. If it's still happening its nothing to do with xposed as it doesnt make changes to actual system files.

Nav bar returned!
But now of course I don't have my xposed frameworks and modules
*PROBLEM SOLVED!*
So I got up and reinstalled the xposed module and on and checked each module..
Apparently the 3 dot menu button on every application kept the navigation bar from going up.
Thanks alot rootSU for your help and guidence!

OK so now you know it IS an xposed module. Now you have to work out which one it is by disabling them all then installing the framework. Then enable one at a time (and reboot in between) to work out which one is causing the issue

No probs. Glad its sorted.
What is this 3-dot botton your referring too that solved your problem. I have the same issue and i guess it's the Gravitybox module because everytime i disable it the recent key returns. Im in lollipop as well Stock rom for xperia z3
Hi! I'm pretty new here.
I was wondering if it is possible to move the navbar buttons in the "back", using the smart key (single press for Home, double for Multitasking ecc.) and so, by using another tweak let the Navbar disappear getting a fullscreen display? Obviously by rooting.
Anyone got some idea?
Hi there. I've done it. You need Android M with root+twrp and xposed.
Then you just need two xposed modules.
1. xposed additions- allows you to map actions to physical buttons. I've set the FPS button to: 1 click=back, long click=home, double click=multitasking and tripple click=torch on/off Worked like a charm.
2. gravitybox- allows you to make changes to the UI. Designed with AOSP launcher in mind, but some functions work with EMUI. In navbar section you can change the size (Setting heigth to 75-80% makes it look quite good, 0% will hide it - i preffered the first option, as having the navbar on was handy when the phone is just sitting on the table etc. Maybe there is a way to make it come up and disappear on demand, but i couldn't be bothered to investigate this.)
The only issue is that xposed has a little issue with emui. Sometimes the dialer crashes when trying to make a phone call. A reboot makes the issue go away for a while, but eventually it's back. I haven't found a solution to this anywhere online.
If anybody here knows how to fix the xposed & emui compatibility issue, or has a method that doesn't require xposed I'd appreciate this information too.
Back then, on my Nexus 5, I used Gravitybox via Xposed.
The most liked features have been the display of the actual network speed (DL/UL rates in kb/s) and the immersive display (fullscreen, no black bars top and bottom even for apps not made for it).
I'd like to get this back on my Pixel 3, but how?
Root & Magisk possible.
Thank you for ideas!

If you're pixel is from Google, then you can root it. But there's only an unofficial Xposed that will work. I'm not sure if that supports gravitybox.

well, it is rooted with Magisk, but the Xposed you mentioned is beta unstable and does not yet support Gravitybox. Understable, with Gravitybox being a conglomerate of a whole lot of different mods.
I was wondering, if there are other possibilities to be explored. I am really wondering why there is no Magisk Module for the DL/UL speed in the status bar already - do other users not desire this or is it commonly fulfilled already, how?
The immersive display on the Pixel 3 is sort of a regress, - quite often i only see a contextually unused bar where the menu keys are.
Well, even chrome shows a white bar there, without using the area for website content display.
Did I miss some setting to toggle it?
@Tulsadiver 's mod in the themes section does it. It is also available on DU custom rom.

You can use Tasker to do this. Just a matter of creating a task for immersive mode in tasker and then run the task. Also, you can create a task to turn immersive mode off and run that if you want it off. Easiest way though is to create both tasks and then add a widget to both of them on you home screen. Then just touch one widget to turn immersive mode on and touch the other to turn it off. Another option is to create a profile that will start immersive mode when you start one of the apps in the profile, such as your browser. Then, when you quit using the app, it reverts back to immersive mode off. Whatever the case, it works great. If you want to try it, I can help you with it. They are really pretty simple tasks to set up. Are you familiar with Tasker?
so far the Edxposed for me works well on my pixel 3 with these modules:
App Locale 2
Google Mpas SDK Drift Fix for China
GravityBox[P] beta 5: network speed indicator and immersive mode work great
Lataclysm
XprivacyLua
Should be more workable modules

Open Tasker and touch the tasks tab at the top. Then, at the bottom right you'll see a plus symbol. Touch it and a small window for naming the task will open. Name it whatever you choose. In the next window, touch the plus at the bottom and then select code. Then select run shell. Then, where it says command, you simply type or copy and paste the code I give you. On that same page you'll see a line that says use root. Put a check mark in the box next to it and then use the back arrow at the top left to go back. This is the code you'll use in the command box.
This one is for turning immersive mode on.
Code:
settings put global policy_control immersive.full=*
This one is for turning off immersive mode.
Code:
settings put global policy_control immersive.full=
Create two tasks in the manner I mentioned, one task for immersive on and another for turning it off.
When you back out of the window where you typed the command, it takes you to the task edit window. At the bottom left you'll see a play button you can use to test the task. Touch it and, it'll turn on or off, depending of course which task it is you're in.
You can use that button to turn immersive mode on or off or you can add a Tasker widget for each task on your home screen. Then it's just a matter of touching them to turn it on and off. Also, if you prefer, you can add buttons for them in the quick settings you see when you drag down the status bar. Just open the quick settings, touch the edit button and add the Tasker buttons there. There are three of them, add two and assign the tasks to them.
I've decided I rly don't want the nav bar. I prefer the Samsung three button swipe up method. How much of my current setup can I get back should I unlock the bootloader to root and therefore factory reset my device?
...Unless there's an option to hide the nav bar without root
Thank you.
For me, factory resetting really isn't all that bad. Been doing roms since 2011, so starting fresh is a reoccurring thing for me.
My important photos/videos are backed up through Google Photos while my SMS/MMS are backed up through SMS Backup and Restore. Everything else, pretty much just login through apps with a password manager. System settings, I go through one-by-one and set them up every single time, but that only takes but so long.
Maybe someone could add some stuff that requires manually backing up those apps specifically?

Going to see how this works, give me one sec. Not sure how it works on the latest Android, but it can achieve what you're looking for.

Edit: No go. Dug up the article and now it seems like your only option will be to root, unless someone knows something more.

Google has confirmed that overscan is not present in Android 11. This change will cripple third-party navigation gesture apps and others.

vivid navigation gestures paired with aospmods is the only way to hide the navigation bar. afaik the setting to hide the navbar within vivid NG doesn't work. need root
I could be completely wrong with what you are after regarding the swipe options, but try this for the 3 button navigation. (Translated from Dutch, so menu might look a little bit different)
Settings > System > gestures > system navigation
Here you can disable the swipe, and enable the 3 buttons option.
I'm using the Xposed Edge app to hide the navigation pill. I also have the None Display Cutout module installed which, in conjunction with the Xposed Edge app, I can toggle the Status bar too.
