[q] help i deleted the settings application!! - T-Mobile LG G2

I was recently looking for system applications to delete, I used an application to get rid of apps I don't use, or system apps that slow down the phone, there were three files showing in pink littering with pink gears next to them, one said system manager, other, settings manager, and a third one, that's the one I deleted by accident.
Now when I try to open my settings, I get an error. "settings has stopped" everytime.
Is there any way to get it back without doing a whole reset of the phone.
Using towelroot, and on the first version of 4.4 kit kat.
Please help. Thanks

What is com.htc.fotafailnotify ?

Hello,
Yesterday morning I have updated my Android to 2.29, from 2.2 (something) on my HTC Desire. Initially it failed to install due to lack of space (did not have the required 25 MB minimum).
Now, in my list of downloaded applications I see a com.htc.fotafailnotify and everything is 0.00kb. It shows up under Settings-> Applications -> Manage Applications -> Downloaded (tab)
Is this a result of that failure and can I uninstall it without any unpleasant consequences?
- Today, I have uninstalled it and apparently nothing noticeable has happened.
Only strange thing is that after uninstalling it, I cannot select another application from that menu, but I can scroll up/down, leave the menu, everything else. If i come back to it, it's back to normal for the first 3-4 then it happens again.
Can anyone tell me what this is and if I messed up by removing it? No one has replied on the Desire section of the forum, and Google was of no help whatsoever.
Thanks!

[Q] Auto-reinstall apps after hard reset (I know it's been asked, but please read)

My phone is slow as hell and I need to hard reset. I remember before, all my apps auto-downloaded afterwards. The settings were gone, but that's fine. I have tried several times (restoring from nandroid backup) and each time, nothing seems to happen despite leaving the phone on overnight. I have searched other threads and found the following:
I need to have "back up my data" and "automatic restore" checked in Settings -> Privacy. Did that before hard reset.
Found this answer: "if you go to the Play app and tap the 3 icons top right there is a setting so auto update the apps." Auto update doesn't appear to work, all it does is update apps you already have installed. After hard reset I only have about 15 basic apps, none of my old ones.
Found this answer: "All your phone apps are collected together in your market library. Just go there ad push the apps once again to your phone (just half a minute job actually). Its a bit tricky because the install button for push is hidden." So where is the hidden button?
I don't want to use a third-party app like Titanium Backup. I'd prefer a clean re-install from Google, not apk. I think some of my apk files and settings were the problem in the first place.
I could just reinstall all of them manually, but I have a lot and Google Play mixes up the apps I had installed with all of the apps I uninstalled years ago. I can't tell the difference!

[Q] Titanium backup - can only restore few apps

Hello,
so far I did not find a similar problem anywhere.
I did a backup of all my apps, played a little bit with some custom ROMs and now I am back on my initial ROM (dokdo).
My problem is: I can only restore very few apps.
If I choose the batch mode several apps are simply skipped without any error message. During the restoration within the "restoration is running" window I see the name of the skipped app for a very short time and the immediately the name of the next app.
When I go to the menu where I can manually restore single apps I noticed that only apps with a smiley at the end can be restored and the ones with a tick not. Unfortuantely again no reason is shown...
By the way: I updated the "super su" app.
Does anyone have an idea what goes wrong?
Cheers
oetzi
Anyone an idea?
Did you Google the meaning of those smileys?
I am assuming it has something to do with them, since if an app wasnt correctly backuped, you would be simply stuck while restoring that app...
Good hint, I only googled for "apps cannot restored".
Under menu -> legend you can see what the symbols mean and the ticks stay for "only data available" which confuses me even more since that means that the backup did not really work...

"Recommended apps" & "Toolbox" crashed when selected

I just got my new S5 and I restored system data from Titanium Backup from my old S3 (running on 4.3 Jellybean) which crashed the "Recommended apps" and "Toolbox" functions when selected in Settings.
When either of these two were selected, the message "Unfortunately, Settings have stopped" appeared.
I'm running Samsung stock ROM Lollipop 5.0. Are there any ways to restore these two settings by flashing some zip files?
Start over Sir. There's is the best way to restore these two settings.
I guess that's one of the ways. Have been contemplating about starting over too. But, now at least I'm more certain that this is the better way.
Would there be any chance that any one of you might know how to add the "Mobile Data" button to the notification panel as Sprint might have had it removed?

Cannot access settings at all - icon has disappeared

Since updating my Samsung Galaxy S8+ a couple weeks ago, I noticed that I couldn't find the settings icon. Eventually I worked out that the COG could be found at the top right hand side when pulling down the menu, but it will only open up the "secure folder settings" and I can't do a thing from there. Is there a way that anyone knows of that I can get the Settings icon back? My phone has also been randomly shutting down without warning for the last few days and today there are apps that no longer open, with my phone telling me constantly that they have "stopped working". I can't access settings to do a back up or to restore my phone. Not sure what to do. Thanks for any advice!
From what it sounds like you still have can USE the phone,
I would download backup program like Titanium do the backup and then odin to stock as it seems your flash didn't go right or something go removed
