This. Right here.
The only tablet I'd even consider is the Shield Tablet. I've gone through too many tablets. Tried to justify each one, and I just found myself never using them.

I'll bite in this one so long as there is an LTE version. I have a 2013 Nexus 7 LTE and had a 2012 before that. If there is a Nexus 9 with Lte on Verizon I will edge up my current tablet line and get it. I always wanted a Nexus device with a little more screen real Estate. 9 inches is perfect and made by HTC with front facing speakers. What could go wrong? Fingers crossed for an Lte version, and not six months after its release as Verizon has been wont to do what Nexus tablets.

This guy. I will be grabbing it

Negative. I have a nexus 7... Can't see me wanting the 9, especially for that price.

I have the Nexus 7 2013, and while I wouldn't mind a slightly larger screen...I just don't see myself getting it any time soon. It looks like a great laptop, but I use my tablet almost exclusively for reading now. And for watching downloaded movies/TV shows while travelling, which isn't often. I just can't justify the price for what I use it for, when my N7 still works great. I need to learn how to lie to myself better.

My Acer Iconia A200 is on its last legs, the battery is dieing on it so I am seriously tempted by this tablet, plus with the keyboard folio it makes it that much sweeter, my one gripe is the lack of SD card support.
Anyone know if this will support full size USB via dongle or MHL hdmi output?

I still have the note 8.0 which runs like its brand new, tbh, I hardly even use it. If anything, I would want a refreshed nexus 7 or and 8 inch.... I do have my eye on the nvidia shield tablet though..

Nexus 7(16gb) vs TF300. Gawd, I'm torn!

So now Google is releasing this Nexus 7. However I still can't decide between this and a TF300. Sure the 7 is a Nexus device, so I'll be getting a perfectly stock experience with good updates, but compared to the TF300 it still seems lacking: no SD slot, way less memory, smaller screen...ok, I know the TF300 isn't as cheap, but compared to the 7 in its 16 gb version it's not much more expensive: I could get it for 330€ right now, and maybe it will drop a little more before the 7 starts shipping. Also, ASUS hasn't got a bad update policy anyway, so it's really a close call. Any suggestions? I really can't decide.
Sent from my Lumia 800 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
For the price of one TF300 you could buy 2 Nexii tablets... they are also targeting two different groups of people. Think do you need a 7' or a 10' tablet and then your decision has been made
First decision you got to make at to you want a 7' or 10.1' tablet
Secondly. do you want the microSD
Finally. do you need the dock for the TF300
HOPED THAT HELPED
Well, honestly I'm not bothered too much by the smaller screen, but I assume that the TF300 will have a bigger battery. Anyway I'm still not sure, because at the end of day it's just a tablet, I don't know if it's worth the extra buck, basically because I'm not really sure about how much I will actually use it.
At the end of the day I just want a new toy, but maybe the TF300 could be more useful in general, and maybe even replace my laptop on some occasions...the dock is cool, but the package becomes expensive that way

I say wait a bit a they should release a Nexus tablet with Jelly Bean and an SD slot and more memory.

Yeah, the fact of it being a Nexus device appeals me the most, basically because I've never owned one. I'd be getting the 16GB version tho, so assuming it will cost 249€ the price isn't that different from the one of the better specced TF300...if it drops to 299€ or so then it would be definitely a better bang for the buck...

Also note that chances are the TF300 had a wireless problem due to its metal case.. although only a handful of people experience this..
If you don't fancy screen size and storage space I'd suggest the N7..

Exactly. But since then, (to my knowledge) there hasn't been a nexus device with expandable memory.
I think I read an article no too long ago that companies might start moving away from sd slots.... But I think that seems pretty far-fetched and ridiculus. Anyone know anything about that?

I actually just managed to pick up an open-box TF300T for $300 on JR.com this past Saturday. They also have an open-box dock for $100 when it's in stock.

Xoom or Nexus 7

Hello everyone, I have a question for you ... I have the opportunity to buy a Motorola Xoom or Nexus 7 (the price is the same) What do you recommend? Thanks

Xoom for a 10 inch tablet and Nexus for a 7 inch. Those two sizes are impossible to compare. It's based on your needs/wants

I have both, but I recommend the Nexus 7 cos it's much lighter and nicer to hold. The Xoom Wifi is a good device though.
Thanks for your advice, friends! I'm undecided because I really like the Nexus but some things less (creader card, expansion slot memory) also at this time the xoom is on offer to 245 euros...

This is the only response that makes sense. Its clear youre on a budget so both isn't an option in which case you need to do a similarities/ differences list and decide what's important to you. The size is a big difference; its comparing apples to oranges.

@Rubber : " ID " What does this mean?
Inviato dal mio Galaxy Nexus con Tapatalk 2
I also had both and, don't get me wrong, I love my Xoom...
But, hands down, Nexus 7.
Reasons include, but are not limited too:
1 - Same charger for Nexus as most Android and even Windows phones (big plus/Xoom uses different charger...not bad, just an additional charger to carry.)
2 - NFC. There may be ways around this, but when you have it and actually use it, that makes it hard to without...
3 - weight. Xoom is heavy even by tablet standards. Again, not bad, but when you have to carry it everyday everywhere (with charger) it can become cumbersome. disadvantageous when portability is paramount.
4 - Quad core. How many Xoom owners run into the slowing and sometimes compete stops of the OS. Light use is usually not to bad, however...but pile on the multitasking and the Xoom will take a much needed break. Have yet to recreate this phenomenon on my 16gb nexus 7
But, I'm told the Nexus doesn't support MHL...the alternative to HDMI. If that is important to you, go Xoom. That was one feature I missed sorely with my Nexus.
For storage, OTG cables can solve the expansion problem.
The Xoom has a rear camera, but I personally never found a use for it...
Both are phenomenal tablets and I have used them both extensively...but choice would be the Nexus...the Xoom will only get cheaper, trust me...I paid full price for mine over a year ago....
Hoped this helps...

Correct. Why do I like the Xoom over the N7? Quite simple really, I just do.
In all seriousness, the Xoom has a metal housing which gives it that hey! I have a build quality that most if not all others dont have. And now that I have just returned the wifes N7. It being the Xoom does not suffer from the screen lift problem at all. I just read a bunch of posts where the screen crumpled under peoples thumbs where it was lifting. And Asus being the nice company that they are, refuses to replace them even though the dammage in the pictures clearly sides with factory deffect being a contributing factor in the dammage to the screen. My wifes N7 had screen lift. I brought it back before I read those posts about that problem. Im happy that I did. Also like the N7 the Xoom has great development going for it. Granted, it only has a 1Ghz dual core processor. It still does an excelent job. And having a 10" screen as a GPS is much better than a smaller screen.

Opt for xoom for the sd slot and the big display
I like the Nexus because it is new, mount jelly beans and has an excellent processor ....
I have ti decide because the offer for the xoom to 289 EURO expires Saturday ...
I forgot .. in Italy the Nexus 7 costs 249.00 EUR

I would use the tablet mainly for internet, write notes and then connect via vpn to my office pc
as mentioned previously, it's simply a matter of taste & expectations. the smaller 7" N7 is lighter, and more portable by design, but the 10" Xoom is such a solid device that has maintained it's own since launch. Given the JB update for wifi versions, and pending JB update for 3G/LTE versions, I would say go with a Xoom. Not to mention that you can pick up a Xoom for around $200 now.
My wife has an Ipad2, and I bought her a refurb Xoom for $199 and she loves it more than the Ipad2! Something about flash and stability, and the fact that she now has a "back" button sold her.
Worst case scenario, buy either one. Try/test it out. If you don't like it, return it and buy the other. Figure out what works best for you personally. That is the best course of action, imho.

Anybody going to sell their tf300 to buy a nexus 10?

Hi
As much as I like my tf300 I am tempted to sell it because;
1. Guaranteed quick android updates
2. Higher Res screen more so than ipad 3 and tf700
3. Limited use of dock besides charging, stand and USB data transfer
I bought the tf300 because even in the UK where its £400 with dock. It was great value but 4 months on there is a lot of new products coming out very soon.
Anyone else tempted to sell or are their good reasons to keep it...what do you think?

You should check out all the problems the Nexus 7 is having with screen lifts. Meaning, the actual screen comes out of the encasing and people are having to glue it back in. Remember, you always get what you pay for. Except with the TF300, that was quite a deal. And since it only came out in April and since that time we've been given an unlocked bootloader and Jelly Bean.

What do you plan on doing with your Asus? I might do the same but not really sure where i could sell this tablet for a decent price besides ebay since it's not very a very big product here in the UK.
On topic though, buying a nexus 10 would mean no tegra games (some are great IMHO) and the high screen resolution may be more taxing on the process i think. At least it wouldn't have I/O issues (probably) and would likely be quite fast. Time will tell i guess.

I was thinking about selling it on ebay also but I really dont want to let it go for less than 300gbp. Especially with all the fees ebay charge 10% + 10% paypal. So I am hoping to sell it on gumtree.
Tegra games are pretty awesome admittedly but the benefits of being nexus kinda outweight the little graphical advantages.
The i/o issue is dissapointing although it is better on some of the custom roms we really shouldnt have this problem.
Im assuming the processor will be pretty beefy hopefully to cope with the screen res but like you say time will tell. The deciding factor for me will probbly be price on the 'manta'. If it is around 400gbp for a 32GB version I will probably get it. Any more and it is unlikely.

The best solution would be to have both :victory:
I just bought this tablet and would sell it in a heat beat for a 10" Nexus tablet. It must be 32GB minimum I don't understand why all the Nexus branded devices are 16GB ONLY. I played with the N7 and really like it and i mean really like it and at the price point it was sweet. Three reasons why i went with the TF300 was because i got it for the same price as a Nexus 7, 10" screen and 32GB + Micro SD.
The reason why there isn't huge sale on the Nexus brand is do to storage limitations in my opinion, I would have bought the Galaxy Nexus rather then an hTC if it had 32GB or 16GB + Micro SD.
16GB non expandable memory is just unacceptable, they should do what apple does and charge a little more for more memory.
back on topic if the TF300 did not have I/O issues it would have been the perfect tablet, I can't believe Asus can get away with this BS and still sell in stores without fixing. Its understandable that the first gen TF300 had this issue but this should have been addressed a long time ago./
You were lucky to get the tf300 at nexus 7 price! I got 10% of retail price so paid £360.
Would love to be able to own the manta and tf300 but i cant justify two tablets when i also own a galaxy note!

The best of TF300T is the dock: extra battery and keyboard !!
The gap between the new Nexus 10" and the old TF300T is great in hardware speed, but... really we really need it ?
I dont´t think so, if the TF300T have a nice CM10 rom with the lastest kernel...could be enough for me.
Not me.
My next tablet/notebook hybrid will likely be a Windows 8 machine. Whether RT or Pro I don't yet know. Whether the new ASUS tablet or one of the Samsung ones, I don't yet know either.
The TF300 showed me just how awesome this form factor could be. I love it. But the truth is I use it in fundametally different ways from the way I use my 7" HTC Flyer tablet. And the ways I use it it just makes more sense to buy a Windows device.
Now, my next phone will be an Android phone and my next 7" tablet likely a Nexus 7. So I won't be abanding Android at all. I'll just be using what I see as the right tool for the job.
Is there any windows tablet with keyboard for about £400? They all seem quite pricey. Also, the review i read for the surface wasn't very positive.

[Q] I'm buying a tablet... what are your thoughts on your device now?

I am in the market for a tablet. I have had plenty of Android phones so I'm very familiar. I have no desire to get an iPad(let's get that out of the way up front) but I've been debating an Android tablet or a Windows 8 tablet. I'm currently contemplating a Note 10.1 but am a little nervous about it's age. We all now that a device that's a almost a year old (gulp) is almost ancient (I'm not knocking it because I'm still considering buying it). So...my question is this:
Given the current options, would you buy a Note 10.1 again? If not, what would you buy instead? Thanks everyone!

Its a great tablet and givin it's age it's still the best one available that runs on android, that's my opinion. I haven't used a windows tablet so I can't say anything about them
sent from my jelly bean infused note 10.1
I would say the Note 10.1 is still the best out there, besides which the S Pen really sets it apart from the competition.
As for Windows 8 tablet vs Android tablet you just have to look at the relative sales for each format to see Android is way out in front and has a comprehensive eco system to match. Microsoft are very much like Apple in that they like to lock their customers in to their own proprietary eco systems, being primarily open source, you don't have to suffer this major limitation with Android.
I've had several Android tablets now and my favourite before the Note 10.1 was the original Galaxy Tab 10.1, the Note 10.1 is a great leap forward.

If i were u I would narrow it down between the nexus 10 and the note 10.1
The nexus 10 has better specs abviously and it will allways has the updated software and the screen is fantastic
I own a note 10.1 so I'll tell u some features on the note 10.1 that I cant live without
1) the multi-window multitasking believe me its very handy and I use it all the time
2) s-pen I actually only use it in some Web pages as a cursor on the menus of that site
3) sd card I dont have to point the advantage here
And if ur worried about the speed of this device I find it rarely ever lagging
But if it was my choice I would pick non of that list I would wait for the next generation of note 10.1 that device will have the display of the nexus 10 and even better specs and more features
If you are doing a lot of writing S Pen is something you just need to have. If not - get Nexus 10, it's also made by Samsung so component quality should be similar.

What DVDT receiver are you using? Would be cool to get...
A simple guide to tablets today: Are you going to use the tablet for work, or studies? Then the Note 10.1 is without competition in the Android section and there won't be another similar this year since Samsung recently released their 8 inch version. Depending on what you're using it for and your budget the relatively new Samsung Series 7 Slate (or something) is worth checking out, it's a bit larger with 11.6 inch but it got a full windows which of course makes it more of a working machine for obvious reasons (MS Office, Matlab and other full version app to mention a few). It's not as handheld though, but I've not seen it irl so I'm not sure how heavy and bulky it really is and it's about twice as expensive.
If you're typing alot the Asus transformer series is of course something to consider, especially if you like building quality.
But if you just want a tablet for surf, maybe games and movies/pictures I believe the best one out there is Nexus 10.

I bought a note 10.1 today after thinking hard Nexus10 vs. I have and like a Nexus7. But I wanted larger, and felt the rear camera and sd card capability made the important decision parts for me. Costco was $479 today. Couple days ago it was $429. 《Sigh》
WIsh I could get rid of the Samsung embedded apps. That is a disadvantage, the Nexus is clean. Almost like I bought it from Verizon. Wonder how clogged up a vz note is《g》
Thought hard about ASUS transformer and the dock. But saw too much griping online. And no local knowledgeable vendor. Though I likes asus mobos and their nexus 7, I couldn't afford to buy a dud. Besides there are so many variation of the tf700 out there that it is hard to know what you are looking at.

I realize you guys may all laugh at my indecisiveness but this tablet was for work. I went to Best Buy to look at a Note 10.1 in person and for close to the same price I noticed I could get a pretty decent laptop. I'm probably gonna get this :

It has ridiculously good specs for a cheap price which I can't argue with. I appreciate all of your help!!

Thats all good but the purpose of a tablet is the size and weight which makes it so portable. I rarely use my laptop. It pretty much just sits there collecting dust. I only use it for photoshop and a couple other programs once in a blue.

Yeah I hear you completely but the more I compared a laptop vs a tablet I realized that I'd be limited on several programs I use on a desktop. A laptop would allow me to still use music creation software, vector manipulation and a few others that I wouldn't really be able to do on a tablet without sacrificing performance. I have come to agree that the note 10.1 would currently be the best tablet choice for what I was hoping to do but a laptop is the way to go for me at this point. Thanks everybody!

I got my Note 10.1 about a month ago after struggling with Note 8.0 quality issues (more than 10 checked and all just poor). I have used a lot of tablets and while it got some time to get used to the low res screen of Note 10.1, after a while it won't bother you anymore. This tablet is really wihtout competiton if thinking of something you can really use daily for work and fun. Also the battery life is excellent. As I have said before, I have no use for a tablet without "S Pen" anymore

I've had both the 10.1 and TF700, and the TF700 is a beauty. If your into rooting and tweaking, the TF700 can be made completely smooth, lagfree, and with no problems. Out of the box, its pretty silly, with some work its the same if not for sure better in real world performance than any other tablet on Android.
The battery in the dock, full usb slot, micro sd, full sd card slot, and most of all the far superior screen is what sold me on it. It really depends on what your going to be using it for, I use it for class and the dock is invaluable as well as all of the extended memory. I also watch plenty of HD movies and they are crystal clear which is a plus. But I definitely see the appeal of the Spen, but I'd never use it.

Sometime next month you will be able to do full multitrack recording on pretty much any android device including the note 10.1, different interfaces will have diffrrent compatibility but most should work

if im not late exus 10 a lto better a lot cheaper and more powerful!
Full circle haha
So... I bought that laptop. The DVD drive didn't line up to open or close properly. I thought maybe it was a fluke so I returned it for a replacement. The second one came and the mousepad didn't left click properly. Long story short, a returned that one for a refund... (I guess that's what happens when you try to buy a $380 laptop).
I ordered this tablet this morning and I'll just stick to my desktop for anything that requires more processing power: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10440897&PID=2923696&SID=
That's a great price ! Welcome to the family

Got my Note 10.1 yesterday and I am very impressed! This is a phenomenal device!

2013 Note 10.1?

Hey guys, I'm looking at getting a Note 10.1. I currently have a Note 2 and I love it but I'm starting to think the screen size isn't enough for me anymore.
Is there any news about an upcoming 2013 version of the 10.1? I just dont want to buy one if the new version is coming in a couple of months. TIA.
Next month marks the one year since release of this tablet. I'm pretty sure an update is around the corner but haven't heard anything official. With that said if you can get a good price on it I've seen it on sale for like 350 I think it's still worth it.

rumor i heard was 8 core with a 12" screen. if true i don't think i'd be able to fight the urge to get one! i love my windows tablets, but windows just isn't very touch friendly and i can't stand metro (none of the apps i use are modern ui based so that's the biggest reason for not being touch friendly).
amazon has some refurbs for $300. i'm trying to stay away b/c i really don't need the temptation. dad's birthday, parent's anniversary, daughter's bday are all coming up in a few weeks.
First off, I love my Note 10.1. I bought it 2 days after release and still think it's the best tablet out there. However, the 2560x1600 HD display, and extra screen real estate are SO tempting. Unfortunately, I can't justify another tablet. A nice telescope is actually higher priority right now.

If you can wait, it may not be too long till the new one releases. Also, the price of the 10.1 might drop when the 12.2 comes out.

Thanks for the responses guys.
I think I'll wait a little longer to see whats coming. The new Nexus 7 looks good and I'm sure the Nexus 10 will be even better but I cant have a tablet without an S-pen anymore.
What do you think about the Ativ Q?
