So I installed twrp and supersu today and everything went fine. Then I did a reboot and did a backup in twrp. Now it says backing up System and the bar animation is moving but no progress is being made. What do I do!?!??!
Can I hard reboot or will that brick my device!
Is it still frozen?

Hard reboot. Frozen backup doesn't brick a phone...

I did an update from 10b to 10d and tried booting into cwm recovery.
When the phone restarted, it just came up with a little animation (an android man in a box with loading bar) and my phone was reset to default.
How do I uninstall CWM and reinstall it? Am I right in thinking it's just a case of unrooting and re-rooting? Don't really want to do it and lose everything again.
download rom manager and go to the bottom tab on it and flash the 4.0.0.7 cwm and then go back to the top tab and reflash the 4.0.0.9 and then it should be all okay for you again take a matter of 2 mins if that

Hi,
A little note while using cwm, I have difficulty too in booting in cwm so what I'm doing is I'm using the reboot to recovery feature of cwm 4.0.0.9, from there I never had problems again in booting to cwm.
Sent from my unbricked O3D.
I went from stock to unlocked, installed TWRP using fastboot, made a backup of stock, flashed nV RLS 1.1 no problem. Went to install nV RLS 2 today and TWRP screwed up the clean install somehow, it booted, but with FCs everywhere. I booted back to recovery, wiped for another clean install and TWRP did a hot reboot of the sorts, then it would just boot to the boot animation and reboot. Went back into TWRP, tried to restore a nandroid, and it failed. Hot reboot from recovery again. I thought it was just a problem with TWRP, so I installed PhilZ through fastboot. I was able to boot into PhilZ, went to do a full wipe, it started, then hot reboot. I attempted to install nV RLS 2 from Philz, and in the middle of the aroma installer, hot reboot. I reinstalled TWRP through fastboot, and it just does a hot reboot about 3 seconds into it.
I've never had this problem with any other phone. Frustrating. I can't get it to stay in recovery long enough to pull the internal storage to the computer. Any fix for this?
EDIT: Success. I did the RUU back to stock thing, then reinstalled TWRP, then I was able to restore one of my TWRP backups. I posted this at 1:16 AM, and now it's 4:40 am. That was a painful learning experience. I must've messed up one of the partitions somehow. I don't really know.

well somehow Philz works for adb purposes. Hot reboot if I try and actually do anything with it though. I'm doing an adb pull /data/media/0 right now. I think I'm just going to do that RUU and factory reset this thing and start over.
edit: fastboot boot twrprecovery.img yields the same results as trying to boot it from the phone.
And from now on TiBu backups are going on the SD card.
Edit: I fixed the problem some 3 hours later. Still don't know wtf happened though. Had to revert completely back to stock to restore a nandroid.
ok im in serious ****!!.I had been using cm13 peacefully ,then i received cm14 update and now i am stuck.First update worked fine ,I used titanium backup .Then I installed the third update then things just went haywire. To mention i had cwm.
1.Phone wont reboot in recovery mode rather cm stock recovery.
2.official downloads wont update/install.
3.no .zip would flash in cm recovery.
4.cmw just vanished,but still rooted.
I Think i should mention on first cm 14 update titanium backup posed problems like root acess denied and SU bimary needs to be updated.I somehow solved it by instaliing new version of titanium backup.
Now i tried all methods to boot in cwm using rom manager and stuff,I finally went to cmrecovery and while browsing clicked WIPE PARTITION CACHE.AND NOW PHONE WONT REBOOT IT JUST HANGS ON MI LOGO .FASTBOOT is opening recovery also phone is charging but wont start HELPP!!!!

Hello,
Can you access fastboot?
Regards
Vatsal,
Forum Moderator.
I was on 5.1.8 and updated to 5.1.9 but for some reason the phone boots, goes to the OS but immediately shows the shutting down dialog box and reboots the phone to recovery.
I tried reinstalling 5.1.9 with and without root but have the same result. I have tried with and without permanent twrp. The only thing I haven't tried is a factory reset as I am abroad and cannot afford to lose all my info (especially whatsapp as I won't be able to set it back up until 2 weeks when I return home).
Has anyone encountered anything like this or know how to fix it?

Share this with OnePlus team on Twitter too until someone help you here too.
If MTP supported by your TWRP then copy the data? If TWRP is still there.

MTP doesn't work but adb works. I have reinstalled 5.1.9 after doing a full wipe and still the phone reboots to recovery after trying to boot normally.
Can anyone help me please :crying::crying::crying::crying:

Just dirty flash 5.1.8 system update in TWRP, reflash TWRP, reboot recovery, flash magisk. You shouldn't have to wipe data if there were no problems in previous OS and forcing a shutdown shouldn't be due to data anyway. You could also try to dirty flash 5.1.9 again with those steps. Has to be the full ROM.

I'm travelling and the hotel wifi is super slow. I have the full 5.1.9 and I've tried dirty flashing and clean flashing (I did a nandroid backup first). With a dirty flash the phone boots to the lockscreen but immediately says shutting down and reboots, after the reboot it goes to recovery (stock or twrp whichever is installed). After a clean flash it seems to try to boot then just shuts off and reboots to whichever recovery is installed.
I've set 5.1.8 to download which will take HOURS so I'll report back with any update. I pray this fixes it...

In thw worst case, since ADB works, you can backup your entire internal storage to your computer and factory reset. Use adb-sync for this.

I did a factory reset (didn't wipe internal storage) after doing the nandroid backup and it had the same issue where it tried to boot then screen went black and it rebooted to recovery

5.1.8 should be flashed again over current 5.1.8?
Why not just tell twrp to switch back to other slot with working oos. I am missing something that this was not tried yet?

I tried changing slots in twrp. Slot A boots to lockscreen then powers off and boots to recovery. Slot B doesn't boot at all and just shows a light blue notification LED.

I meant take backup through ADB, format everything including data, internal storage, then fastboot flash full ROM zip.
I am having the same exact issue.
Can't restore a nandroid backup. All I get is light blue notification LED. I tried 5.1.8 and 5.1.9. With TWRP right after and without it. Without even magisk. It just bootloops forever. If I install 5.1.9/5.1.8 full zips, twrp, reboot recovery, magisk. It just reboots into twrp. I can't even install any of the full ota zips. It wont get past the android boot animation when I just want to flash the ota zip only. Can't get out of twrp. Luckily I was able to backup everything, but don't know how to proceed further allowing me to regain usage of my phone.
To me, this is sounding like something did not flash right with vendor partition.
if a full wipe of System, data, internal storage, the whole 9 yards doesn't work. The only option I see that should work is the mega unbrick thread. https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6/how-to/guide-mega-unbrick-guide-hard-bricked-t3796051

Any suggestions how to fix this. I am hoping I dont have to use the MSM tool and start all the way from scratch.

Did you make sure the download was not corrupt before flashing? OnePlus6Oxygen_22_OTA_013_all_1807130145_92ea1c670c0fae.zip MD5 61EAE0DA48C6B3914F48F3E6EA99A74B
Yes, everything matched up. I guess I need to start from scratch.

Funny, I was about post that link but i see you found it first. It is also good that it fixed it for you.
As far as TWRP backups, you only need to backup data. You can just install the full ROM zip file and restore data to get everything back if you have issues with nandroid restore. Just don't forget to flash TWRP before rebooting or you will need to fastboot it again.
Maybe an issue with battery calibration. Try checking the battery when the phone just boots. If it says low battery and because of that its shutting down then its just a software error and just try to turn in the phone with charger connected to check if tgats the problem. If that dosent work try the oneplus 6 mega unbrick guide and return to stock oos 5.1.5 using snapdragon msm recovery tool. For detailed info see tge OP6 unbrick guide on xda. Tell me if it works

One question, when you manually change to slot B, you're in a black screen with blue notification LED right? If that doesn't even go fastboot, how do you get out of that slot into the other one again to the boot-recovery loop?
All I did was install TWRP with Odin. Then I backed up my phone, without "data" because it was unable to mount /data.
It said the backup succeeded, so I restarted. Now It won't come off the "Samsung Galaxy S7 (powered by Android) boot screen. Is this really typical of TWRP? Brick my phone for backing it up? All I wanted to do was back it up.
I can get into Download Mode and back into TWRP, but it looks like there's nothing in internal storage!!! Wtf??? The stuff on my external SD is there, including the backup. Am I supposed to restore the backup now? Why was it all deleted? What do I do???
Please help. I was backing up in order to make sure this would never happen in the first place!!
SGS7 SM-G930W8, latest TWRP
Where's the sense here? You wanna back up your phone? Sure, let's delete all your data and soft brick it. Not the same thing?
Whaat?
If I don't get a response soon I'll try restoring that backup. THE THING IS... If my data was deleted before the backup, it might only make **** worse... Maybe.
I attempted the backup. Nothing. Strangely, when I press "Restart," it seems to crash and reboot before I get to "Swipe to Restart".
What do I do???? Why is TWRP not trustworthy?!
Too late, I'm attempting to flash stock firmware to my phone now. Where do I complain to TWRP about backing up having the exact opposite effect?

If you flash exactly the same version of firmware that your device had when you installed TWRP, it won't wipe your data.
The TWRP team, nor it's code are to blame here. If its an unofficial TWRP then it was built by someone that isn't a part of the TWRP and probably didn't do a good job, especially if this TWRP was ported from a similar model.

Hey Kliva,
I have run into the same problem. I flashed TWRP 3.2.3 heroflte, booted into recovery and went to do a backup. I only got an error message that TWRP couldn't mount some partitions and no backup.
I tried to reboot and am stuck in boot loop.
Did you get your phone back up running? and how?
Thanks

Thanks for getting back to me. I tried flashing stock through Odin several times and each time the process failed.
Out of desperation I found a different kernel and flashed it through TWRP and it worked. The phone booted and everything seems to be working ok.
Thanks again.
