moving the data files from sd card to external sd wont work because apps are bound to vold file and it specifies which one is default storage location.
without root there is no solution for this
i dont understand y u r worried about rooting? its totally safe to root ur phone and by flashing the stock rom again u can claim warranty also if ur phone gets some problem.
if u r ready to root ur phone there is 2 ways to do this.
1. use the modded vold file which forces OS to use external storage as sd card and all the apps/game data files will be stored on ur external sd.
2. use GL TO SD app which just moves specified game data to external storage and forces those specified apps to use external storage as sd card.

is there any disadvantage (such as overall a bit slow response etc.) if we swap internal and external storage ?? I mean that's why it is not a default option given by Sammy/android ??

Android OS doesnt freq access the internal drive. Only user apps or games access it freq. If you have class 6 or above microsd it is as good as accessing(read/write) the internal drive.
I use class 10 card and the guarateed min read/write speed is 10 MBPS

easy solution for this. format your sd card using your pc/laptop.

Music and Picture files still showing up on Microsd card after formatting

Hi,
I have formatted my sandisk 16gb microsd card multiple times via my pc(windows xp), my phone(samsung galaxy s2 skyrocket), sdformatter and hp usb disk format tool. All these programs say the format was successful but my music and picture files are still showing up on my phone. I also tried a factory reset on the phone but that only removed the files in the internal storage.
I am new to this forum and this is my first post. I tried searching for threads with a similar issue but I was unable to find one.
Thanks
Does the card show 16gb of capacity after formatting? If so, fill that with generic files & see what the phone reads.

It's a 16gb card but when I attempt to format the card it shows up as a 14.8gb card. I connected my phone to my computer and drropped a generic file onto the sd card but the file does not show up on the phone when I disconnect it from my computer. I reconnected the phone to the computer and the generic files is still missing.

Yes they are on the external. I opened the MyFiles app, looked under extSdCard and it shows all the music and picture files. I tried deleting all the files in the exSdCard folder but they all reappear when I restart the phone. I also tried deleting them from my computer but they all reappear after the phone re-scans the sd card.
You're putting it on the wrong card

Format the sdcard in fat32. Maybe your sd is 64GB exFat that needs a special kernel support

Thank you for your reply. The volume of my SD card is 16GB in FAT32 format. Mentioned problems may include with the right of permission to beyond read only mode and setting of android system. Because the photo records is taken by internal machine that can be set to store in external SD card. This kinds of problem have already occurred in Samsung several series machine. Meanwhile, this is a complicated problem beyond my limited knowledge. Anyway, thank a lots:laugh:
Root your phone.
Install Folder Mount.
Move everything to SD.
Enjoy life !

Thank you for reply. I have rooted my machine already and trying this right now. But would like to know that except this method. Any method could save data (i.e. photos, installed app and media) to external SD card freely? Just like using of App 2 SD. And then, any method to get the right of permission to beyond read only mode and setting of android system? I would like to fix this problem completely and let it return to S II mode. Anyway thank you very much
For the moment i don't think there is a way to move apps to SD. Only link 2 sd

Well Folder Mount isn't free.
And Apps to SD didn't work for me. Neither did Link 2 Sd work until I created a partition on my SD card (later I removed the partition as I didn't want to spoil my new card and its performance).
You can install apps on internal and then later on move it freely to SD card. It would move all data folder.
I'm doing this and I have rooted phone with stock rom.

Well tap on the (+) button and you will have a window asking for
1. Folder name to be kept.
2. files to be moved.
3.where the files should be.
Select the following and press mount. It will start moving files and then mount.
