I was moving some pictures from my phone to my computer today, and windows explorer stopped working when it was almost done.
I started windows explorer again and selected the memory of my phone and it was loading really long (longer then the first time).
So I plugged the phone out of the computer (without ejecting it) and now my computer doesn't recognize my phone anymore .
(the computer does recognize the phone, and it will charge so the cable works, but it fails to install a driver for my device)
I already tried this:
Rebooting my phone and computer.
Using another USB port.
Checking if my settings on the phone where correct.
Plugging the phone into my brothers computer and that worked (so the problem is with my computer, not my phone).
Uninstalling the drivers of my phone by going to my Device Manager. (I uninstalled MTP USB-device, under Portable Devices)
I tried to update my drivers (MTP USB-device) and I clicked browse my computer, let me pick, ok.
Could someone please help me?

So all of the sudden my computer, or other computers wont recognize my phone.
I might be answering myself, but maybe my socket is kind of/might of broken?
When I connect it, I still get the CHARGE ONLY or DISK DRIVE option, but my computer(s) doesnt recognize it. I have to try several times inserting it for my computer to recognize it. I used my other HTC INSPIRE chargers..same problem..
I read on other forums that, their device is having the same problem as mine, at all of the sudden.
even my USB DEBUGGING mode wont recognize on the computer..
help....
EDIT: some people are saying something about MOUNTING/UNMOUNTING SD CARD.
If you're using windows, check the device manager and make sure it's not an "unknown" device. If it is, try manually installing the device (using HTC sync drivers or Android SDK drivers). If that doesn't work, open the properties of the unknown device, and find the device ID and check it against the listed ID's in the .INF files for the driver. (Had to hack them recently to get ADB working, presented the "wrong" device....)

Any1 will any solution plz help coz my phone is at mess atm and cant flash anything.
the source of the usb issue may be your computer.
1) did you always use the same usb port for your phone?
2) how old is your computer?
3) do you live in a humid environment?
I live on guam, and on my older laptop (only two years old!!!), running winxp, 3 of 4 usb ports are no longer usable due to corrosion. they give errors and even when working, sometimes I could lose the connection by moving the cable slightly. also, the last usb port is now getting difficult to use because it's hard to plug in anything
so, if you answered yes to #1, try another port and be prepared to install the drivers again.
if you answered yes to #3, be prepared to replace your usb if they are indeed corroded
well thnx for answer, but my pc is new like 7 months old,usb ports are working just switched mouse and phone mouse working phone not.its driver relater before i had that error and some1 from xda told me to delete everything(kies drivers) related to phone and his drivers and it worked i also see that error(code 43 is common) but fix with uninstalling driver(worked before now doesnt).thing is that something at that moment didnt work well on phone(last time it was my external sd card had to format it)and now pc keeps repeating same error.simply even tho all drivers are installed i get device not recognized, and under device manager it unknown device, also when i tick option to see hidden devices i see omap 3630 but state is unconnected.

When transferring files to and from pc, do you use the original USB cable that came with the phone? Because when i use other cables, i have this issue, when i use the original cable, no probs at all.
if that also doesnt work, try formatting internal and external SD cards

ok i tried connecting my phone to secondary pc running xp gave me same error but simple uninstall of driver and reinstall made it work cant fix it on win 7.
Edit: damn phone wont connect when in download mode cant flash anything -.-.
Connect the phone and go to device manager
If you see the i9003 driver uninstall it then connect the phone to pc again
now windows 7 will download the driver automatically
that's how I fixed my problem
Hello.
I've got A700 and I'm trying to root it but I've got a problem. I tried it with every key combination (power, volume up & down) I found on the internet but they don't work.
I also tried it when using the USB port but my PC and my laptop won't recognise the tablet. I've downloaded the drivers from Acer but when I install them my PC asks to install NET frameworks 2.0.5727. This version is no longer available but Frameworks 3 also worked according to Microsoft. After this installation the drivers from Acer still don't want to install. Then I tried it with Android USB driver but the same problem keeps coming back.
When I plug the tablet on my PC and look in the windows device manager there is a yellow triangle on the USB port with an error code 43. I've got the same problem and errors on my laptop. They both work on Windows 8.1. The tablet doesn't appear in the device list on my pc .
Could it be that the problem is on my tablet's USB? There is no problem when charging.
Does anyone have a similar problem or maybe a solution?

Well, Win8 can sometimes give issues. I might suggest 2 things,
1) Try a different USB port. Typically devices come with USB 3 and USB 2 ports. If you have a standalone PC (desktop) don't use the USB port in the front. Try it from the back port.
2) Try manually installing the drivers. In device manager, select "install from disk" and manually select the driver (even if windows won't guarantee compatibility)
As with .net, just install the newest.
If the above don't work, well, try somebody's Win7 pc.
One more thing, when you install the drivers, make sure you "right mouse click" and install as administrator.
I have a Nexus 5 that I have had about a month now and I had the USB on it working before about a week ago. I plugged it in today and neither my desktop or laptop could recognize it anymore. Both computers are running Windows 8.1.1 and the issues seems to be new as I can neither get USB storage or ADB to find it. The closest I can get it to working is to switch the USB mode to PTP and it reads that but I don't want to pull photos off. When I have it in MTP, it makes the sound of it plugging in and my phone shows it is plugged into a computer but Explorer shows nothing and it says it is working normally in device manager. I've tried everything from enabling and disabling debugging, restarted both my phone and computer tried reinstalling the drivers (both by the computer automatically finding them and manually installing them) but nothing seems to work. Is it possible that Windows Update could of broke the drivers since my computer installed updates yesterday? I also have Linux on my laptop and it appears to read fine with Linux.
That's the exact issue. If you check in Device Manager you'll see it listed as 'ACER ADB Device' (or something like that). You have right-click on it, select update driver, manually check and go through the list option and choose the MTP driver and it'll work again (and with USB Debugging enabled if you don't usually have it on like me)
I theorise that it's happened cause the Acer driver is digitally signed and the Google ones aren't but I could be wrong. Either way, it's a PITA

OK thanks. I'll give it a try because it was showing up as ACER ADB Device under device manager
EDIT: I updated the drivers and used the USB composit drivers instead and it got MTP working again. When I set it to USB composit, it installed Google's ADB drivers and the Nexus 5's USB drivers so everything is working again. Thanks for your help

I canĀ“t manually update driver because of this:
when i update the acer adb it says the driver is up to date and everything is all same. what to do?
Thanks! Thought I was going to go crazy. Worked for me...
i set the driver to MTP as mentioned above and the phone started to show up on the explorer but now i couldnt copy any files from my laptop to the
phone. It displays like that and if clicked yes then the copy wouldnt happen.what is the problem.
Uninstall driver, plug in device, tell windows to not auto install driver (or disconnect from internet), click to update or install driver, point to folder with drivers, install, all is done.

That msg comes when you're in PTP mode I think...Only certain formats are supported.
Check under storage, expansion menu and make sure you are set to the first option...not PTP.
Above guy mentioned to have phone in USB debugging mode when setting up drivers.
If the device is showing then you need to point to the drivers for it (download them from google). I reinstalled windows a few days ago and had the acer issue (device first shows up in device manager as nexus 5 then switches to acer), windows wants it to be an acer device. Stop windows and then install the correct drivers,
For me I had to click the auto install in windows tray and tell it to stop. After a few times it worked.
No I'm connecting in MTP mode. Ahh its gettn irritating.
Hi there!
I used to be able to connect my OPO to my W7 PC. Now I cannot. My OPO original cable is out of service so I have been using a samsung charger and it has worked fine before. Plug in, popup shows, and I can access MTP files. I am aware charge is default and when connect you have to select MTP. But now it isn't even charging.
Ever since I updated to Lineage Marshmallow, I cannot do it. I was able to do it on my work laptop (W10) but on my home PC (W7), cannot anymore. So not sure what I am missing. The same cable is used for both.
-Have Root with usb debug on
-google universal driver installed
-pic of device manager below but cannot browse my phone to install (not recognized)

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Install mtp drivers(http://www.driverscape.com/download/android-mtp) and update the unknown device with those drivers.
You should always use original cable btw.
