Android Lollipop - Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Now that we have the nexus devices announced and source code to be revealed in the coming weeks. Is anyone planning to build a ROM for our tab2 community?
Sent from my GT-P3100 using XDA Free mobile app

I second that

We ain't done with our Kitkat yet.
Too fast and you get a stomach ache.
Pp.

It will be interesting if they could the Lollipop on the Tab 2

Be patient guys. Google did not released the source yet, after that it will take some time until well known roms like SlimRoms,OmniROM or CM merge those changes.

I really hope so, as I'm avidly google searching every day to see if it has been announced for getting Kit Kat! There are 2 reasons I believe we should get 4.4;
1. Google owns Motorola now
2. The A2 meets the minimum required 512 RAM that is needed to run 4.4
All I can say is keep your fingers crossed and hope we don't get the galaxy nexus treatment.

Highly unlikely. Google is not releasing kitkat for the Galaxy Nexus which is based on TI OMAP architecture, so the odds of the Atrix 2 ever seeing a stable build are very slim.
Plus hashcode is no longer supporting any OMAP based Moto phones https://plus.google.com/111109372727398356624/posts/MywYxxxzJaD
I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you.

Naa no chance of an official OTA for 4.4 but the Atrix HD might get the update according to At&T........
Bust we always have custom ROM's to flash around and i highly doubt anyone wants to use stock ....

Yep, that's true and as for the custom ROMs, altered mention he'd try to build SlimKat soon and the Razr guys just got CM 11 alpha.
Either way, we're extremely blessed to have such awesome devs keeping our OMAP devices up to date with the latest Android releases! Thank you all!

I think the first device, wich gets 4.4 is note 3. But maybe they are just rolling out 4.2.2, because UBMI3 is now stable enough for everyone? But if we really get an update, I heard that the kernel maybe will be 3.4 :good:
i hope so too ...
right now with all the 4.3 issues on S3, I think that if we are ever going to get an upgrade, it will be directly 4.4
There will be no such thing. 4.2.2. is the end of the road

Yep,obviously you are right @OurJerry i do believe the same. 4.2.2 is the last update for our device. No other latest Android version will be blessed to our device.
I asked samsung and they said thay don't know yet. I guess it means no

i don't think so
the S2 was shipped with 2.3.6 and then they get 4.0.4 and after that jelly bean so why would we only get 1 upgrade
Because. In the past the s 2 was Samsung's flagship device and so they have to keep the customers stay.

Although it is a probability that 4.2.2 maybe the last update for the S2 Plus, its quite unreasonable for them to do that considering the device coming out only in the beginning of this year, Most Android devices would get support for around 18 months after their initial release.. almost 12 months have gone, so it probably will be 6 months or something that they could release an update. But its likely that they might not. Who knows?

Not every phone has that 18 months promise. Especially our low activity device
Sent from my GT-I9105P using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
samsung has to support every phone for 18 months ... it is true see this
http://www.sammobile.com/2013/12/06...ace-3-galaxy-core-and-other-low-cost-devices/
..but maybe we are not geting 4.4 .. but i'm sure will get 4.3 update .. it is samsung guys ... the best in support .. i hope
i think will get 4.3 ..and we wont get 4.4 ... unless jb 5 ..released .. before 18 months expired ..
We will get most of the 4.4 goodies in all the ported roms, thanks to more devs for our phone.
I talked to samsung the said there will be 4.3 nd 4.4 for our lovely device

Any Android L roms yet?

There was no source released so that should be a....no.
That would be a no until way after November when its actually released by Google. People get awfully excited about photos.

Okay thanks for clearing that up. I was just wondering because I know that the nexus devices received a Dev build to try but I didn't know if it was possible to port it to another device. Guess I'll have to wait till the official release.

Will the official cyanogenmod arrive on the nvidia shield tablet?

on the title...
Since we are getting the 5.0 upload soon I would have to believe it won't come until after that update.

Yes/No. CM on the Shield Tablet will be official if there's someone willing to step up to be the maintainer, and it works completely (possibly minus stylus and controller support). So this will likely start here, with someone developing and maintaining an unofficial builds/releases.
Happened over with the Galaxy Note 8 Wifi- the fellow that was doing the unofficial builds graduated into the official maintainer, from which, his builds are the official.

5.0 Lollipop

Any Developers or people who's working or done with the lollipop 5.0 rom for infuse? I just want to experience the new material design.
They have said once beanstalk is ported they'd give it a go.
Sent from my XT907 using XDA Free mobile app
I'm working on it, could be interesting if we can use this kernel on our device
https://github.com/hak86/android_kernel_samsung_aries
since infuse has 2.6 kernel and required a lot of changes to make lollipop
I am unsure about specs but you might visit the Samsung Galaxy player 4.0 and 5.0 forums, they are at least same gen devices and I saw lollipop is built on it.

Any progess?
Is there any progress on Lollipop for the Infuse? Still using mine. Thanks.
Lollipop is a ram eater. I tried it on the razrm and it didn't go well. Wound up reverting to kitkat. I'm sorry but at some point even if you can, you shouldn't and I think all devs are realizing this.

I think people should just run the latest that's available, or get a new phone. A Moto E is 3 times the phone the Infuse is, and can be had for $30 if you buy it at the right time. Plus it runs Lollipop out of the box. Methinks trying to run 5.0 on a 4 yr old device is near impossible.

Hell i haven't seriously used my Infuse in over 2 years, i just like to see just how much it can handle, I was a bit surprised when it took KK. Now just waiting to see if it can handle Lollipop.
