Do 3-button headsets work properly on Carbon? Carbon treats a 3-button headset as if it only had one button, so all the button (volume and play/pause) just get treated as a play/pause button. I've tried many headset control apps, but i can't seem to get the volume to raise and lower with the headset volume buttons. Is there any way to fix this?

With the stock HTC headset you can't control the volume as there are no volume buttons. I was wondering if there exists an app that can control the volume by holding for example one of the headset buttons.
For Android I found an app (Headset Volume Control made by Androidpublisher), does this also exsis for Windows Mobile?
I got MA850 in-ear headset for my itouch recently, and tried to connect it my Milestone 2 in the hope of getting better playback. I've heard in other forum that Apple earphone with 3 buttons behaves like the stock one-button headset, but it's not the case with Milestone 2.
The middle button does not work at all. The plus/minus buttons seems to have the same effect, just like long-pressing stock earphone's controller - they activates the player and make it jump to the next track, and they can also end a call. The mic is working.
Try PowerAMP of the Market i've seen it has a "Headset Button Config " i dont have a headset with buttons so i never tested it.
Power Amp can configure headset buttons
Weird problem. Usually the Next/Previous buttons on the headset can let you move tracks backward/forward when you're playing music or listening to podcast/audio books. Some apps allow you to reassign them becoming fast forward/backward. The new Nexus 5 I just receive, the headset buttons can only do volume up/down, no matter which app I'm using. I don't see anything in system settings.
Anyone has same issue?
I found the same thing. Android support of headphones and accessories is terrible. There's no universal standard for three-button remotes and so far i've only found some Samsung earphones that can even do volume up/down. The rest only do play/pause.

The same headset functions normally on my Nexus 7 and HTH Inspire 4G. Is it possible LG doesn't support headset remote control?
So i have an old pair of headphones from my s3. the play/pause button works fine with the M8, but the volume up/down buttons only skip tracks and not change the volume. i can skip tracks with double/triple pressing the play button. would really like to see something control the media volume with my headphone buttons.
im sure it is... but the xda post i found for it doesn't address what i posted about.

I even purchased the oem headphones on HTC's site that says compatible with M8, still no dice. Hopefully there will be a fix soon.
i have the ones that came with the M8 and i noticed only one button. i just dont get why they need to go in their own direction and remove buttons instead of comply with the current accessories and just add the features. i run with my phone in an armband so a one button remote has limited usefulness.
I am in the exact same boat...When I work out the phone is an athletic armband so I don't really have access to it during my workout. I use these headphones: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005I2IVRO/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and I can play/pause by pressing the middle button once and skip tracks forward by double tapping the middle. However, the volume up and volume down buttons are do not function period. Very annoying and hoping there's an Xposed module or an app that can make them work.

thats the functionality i have now with any headphones i use.
also FYI, you can go back a track by triple pressing
I've got a set of Bluetooth earphones and the 3-button control on those works fine, with the volume + and - doubling up as skip forward/back a track when held.
However, with my wired Sony DREX12IPB earphones, only the play/pause button works and the +/- buttons do nothing. They used to work with my Redmi Note 4, before the headphone jack stopped working completely, so is there a reason why they wouldn't work with the 5i?
It seems almost impossible to find wired earphones with 3-button controls for Android now. There's some for iPhone like these Betron YSM1000 https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00XBZY0EI/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A3108QBFCDGHS1&psc=1 but for Android all I can find is one-button controls, which are not only more fiddly for skipping tracks but also don't allow you to change the volume.
