Anyone could ans...
hi i got a p5100 device that runs on stock jellybean 4.1.2 and i would just like to know the following
1. Is my bootloader JB since my devices now is updated to 4.1.2 via OTA??
2. Given that my bootloader is not JB do i still need to unlock it to flash custom roms without problems?
3. Does the device region have a significant issue regarding flashing customs roms (omni / cyanogenmod ) ? ... like it might not worth to this specific device though is P5100 but from this region/CSC/PDA etc.. (well samsung does have a couple of devices with different codes )
4. Is there a way to root without using PC?
-- Im not new to rooting and flashing roms, i have done it to my phone which is 2.3.5 GB device not samsung though so i didnt have problems regarding different versions and stuff cause they are all the same....
Hope anyone could help me out i want to flash a custom rom to my tab with less casualties and i want to make sure that i do right to avoid total brick
1. Yes, you now have JB Bootloader
2. We do not need to unlock our bootloader, it is not locked.
4. No, but you don't need root, you need a custom recovery to flash a custom rom. You can flash a custom recovery using odin or heimdall.

Hi, i'm using this rom on my galaxy tab 2 (p5100) but when i activate tethering wifi no terminal sees my tablet as a wifi hotspot.
Perhaps a stupid question, but... What's on-the-go-mode?

This was unanswered: if you're rooted, you can backup your modem somewhere on your storage with any root file browser. It is also very easy to replace modem same way. Just don't forget to set the permissions.
IDK if the builds are replacing the modem, I doubt it. I use P5110 so no idea about P5100 builds.

TWRP system wipe - How long?
Hi guys,
Not sure where this is being posted because it's a redirect due to this being my first post.
I'm doing the first wipe on Samsung GT-P5113 using TWRP 2.8.3.0 (OpenRecovery) specified for this device and I'm not sure that it's not hung. The status/progress bar is active but has shown zero progress in over an hour. Just Wiping Partition(s) at the top and this:
Code:
Updating partition details...
...done
Full SELinux support is present.
MTP Enabled
Wiping data without wiping /data/media ...
Done.
The candy cane progress is spiraling black and white.
the 4gb nandroid took 662 seconds so this seems off.
Thanks.
The issue with freezed progressbar got reported in a german forum too. Go back to 2.8.1.0 until it got fixed, maybe @Dees_Troy can take a look on it because you are using the official TWRP.

Ah.. thanks,
Yep.. not a problem, just stuck. Most recent Omni nightly up and running now.
I just downloaded the TWRP from the OmniRom thread 2.8.1.0 but I have only used Odin for custom recovery install and couldn't use that because it's not a tarball (or any other format Odin would recognize). How do you install that?
You can use the Odin flashable *.tar.md5 https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95747613655050457
Or flash the recovery flashable zip in recovery: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95747613655050456

Done and running. I guess I had the flashable zip but didn't realize I could flash it in recovery. Didn't realize I could flash TWRP with TWRP. Excellent.
Thanks for the help Andi with this AND with getting the bloat off my baby... this looks GREAT

Just wanted to say thanks for the great work. Love the boot animation, the ROM seems buttery and works great. My only concern is my battery life has dropped since switching from CM 11 to your ROM. Other than that I love it.

CWM 6.0.2.7? The last is CWM 6.0.5.1
You must flash newer recovery version.

So we were trying to update my friend's Tab 2 to a 4.4.2 ROM. We got CWM 6.0.2.3 installed, and tried a ROM. Well this failed, and appeared to break other stuff as it now boot loops to CWM. Actually I think it's going every other book to CWM. Right now it's saying battery depleated. I've got it plugged intoa charger, hopefully it'll take a charge.
I did later realize we weren't using a new enough version of CWM, but regardless, any ideas how to recover from this? It does not appear to be able to go into download mode. It only goes to CWM. I've tried flashing other ROMs but that doesn't seem to be working either.
So...kinda stuck for the moment.
Thanks!

We have a winner... the next one who didn't pay any attention - i.e. reading the OP post of the ROM thread.
ClockworkMod Recovery 6.0.x.y is ONLY for flashing CyanogenMod up to 10.1.3.
For flashing OMNI ROM or CyanogenMod 11 (both Android 4.4.2 at the time of writing) you _NEED_ to use TWRP (recommended for OMNI) or PhilzTouch Advanced Recovery or ClockworkMod Swipe Edition (recommended for CM11). See AndroidAndi's file repository to obtain a copy of the correct recovery for your particular model of the Tab 2.
Next thing to do: Download and install ODIN, install the "Samsung USB Drivers" (Google's your buddy), download the .tar.md5 of the recovery you want to flash (see above and make a choice), put the tablet into download mode, flash the recovery.
If that worked flash the custom ROM of choice (+gapps if CM11, +SuperSU if OMNI) through the custom recovery you just installed and be glad you didn't turn the tablet of your friend into a paperweight.

Speaking of not reading OPs and paying attention...I already said I realized that was the issue, and that I can't seem to get it to go into download mode, so that's likely paperweight land?

If you're down to "can't get it into download mode anymore" (I start to assume the attempt to flash some 4.4.2 ROM through CWM 6.0.x.x may overwrite partitions it's not supposed to overwrite) the only way left to breathe life back into the tablet is to resort to JTAG (UART port connection, CASUAL restoration package, USB Jig to force the tablet into UART mode).
If you search on XDA you will discover tons of threads by AdamOutler dealing with that topic, maybe that's useful to you in any way to figure out if that's an option for you.
Does it stay in CWM once it boots? If so you can copy a TWRP 2.7.0.x zip file to your SD card and install it from there.

I'll keewp looking, but if you have a location I can get a flashable zip that will work for this, that'd be very helpful!

Hi I seem to have made a mistake.
I attempted to unroot my Tab 2 10.1 (p5110) thats been laying unused for the better part of a year. I somehow managed to get myself stuck at the recovery screen. Trying to install from zip the CM11 give me the error (status 7).
I have no other roms available on my tab to try to install.
Any suggestions?

Stock recovery or custom? If custom, what version? You usally get status 7 if your recovery is outdated. @Android-Andi has a recovery thread in the development section that has the latest version of CWM, TWRP, and PhilZ. I would recommend the latest TWRP from his thread. It is feature rich, has a nice touch UI, and is easy to use. It also has USB-OTG support if you use that.

Hi, apologies if this is the wrong forum but I have just received my OnePlus One and want to root it before I really start using it. However, I don't want to miss out on CM11S. If I flash TWRP/CWM and flash a SU zip will I be able to update through the CM11S OTAs?
I couldn't see CM11S ROMs on get.cm so I'm a little confused.
Thanks in advance.

So far, I haven't updated via OTA from OnePlus. I just manually flash because it is always faster than waiting for an update to get pushed to your specific device. However, with other devices in the past (Nexus 10), if I have kept the stock kernel, I have been notified of updates via OTA. If I were you, I would just root, flash Franco Kernel and update manually in the future. It is very easy to do once you get the hang of it and the great devs here post flashable updates very quickly.
Thanks
Sounds like it's not a huge hassle then. I'll flash TWRP now and then apply the SU zip file. I think I'll enjoy having CM11S for a little while. It will be interesting to see if root sticks after an OTA.

Well, if you look on XDA for an OTA based update, there are always versions of the update that keep root that you can flash that are supplied by various developers, so that shouldn't be an issue.
I had grief with some root apps (particularly Secure Settings) in 11s until I applied the fix described by crushingyen here: https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/root-access-in-developer-option.52874/page-2 Just FYI.
If you install TWRP and root the phone you can still pull updates from the Settings > About phone > System updates. I've done several on my OPO. One warning though. By default the updates will both remove root (expected) and will re-flash the recovery back to stock (unexpected). You can turn off the re-flashing of recovery by unchecking the Settings > Developer options > Update CM recovery option.
Dont go with CM11s!
1) Open your Bootloader
2) Root your OPO
3) Install CWM (best in my opinion)
4) Install/Flash and AOSP Rom (like crDroid Rom (BEST ROM EVER!!!))
5) Install/Flash GApps
6) Install/Flash AK-Kernel
7) Install/Flash UKM+Synapse
Got no Reboots, Lags, NOTHING!
I undervolted my OPO -150mV and deactivated the quad core to a dual core with 1,8GHZ!
Runs so smooth with the smartmax Governor impressive!
I also tryed Mahdi Rom+Cyanhacker but dont go with them, laggy and Random Reboots and no weekly updates :/

Mahdi ROM isn't laggy. Its user error that is causing your phone to lag / reboot if you do encounter any.
Posts like this are not constructive, people don't make ROMs to have random reboots or lag. Instead of complaining about it, figure out why it does for you individually but not for others.

What there saying is when your first get it unlock boot loader flash custom recovery and then root. Then go into developer options. Untick update cm recovery. Then when you get an ota you can run it. So it won't touch your custom recovery you will just lose root. So reflash su with custom recovery and your good to go

For example, will flashing the official stock firmware from SamMobile also cause the TWRP custom recovery to revert to stock recovery?

TWRP 2.8.1.1 and encryption...
Just ran into a new (or at least, not yet reported in the p900 v1awifi thread) issue.
I encrypted my firmware (in this case, CyanogenMod 11). So far, life is good, right?
Except, all the way back to 2.7.0.0, TWRP doesn't prompt for a decrypt password before starting - so the interface is pretty, but not very useful... <grin>
I know that TWRP is capable of handling an encrypted device, any chance someone could "flip the switch" and turn on the feature?
Thanks!

can you please post version 2.8.3 and whats new in this version ?
how to reboot into recovery mode directly from download mode to get into TWRP?
I am having trouble rebooting into recovery mode from download mode after installing TWRP via Odin on my note pro 12.2 P900. I was not getting access to TWRP after installing with auto reboot checked (twrp 2.8.3/odin 3.09/BNK1), so per prior posts in TWRP thread, i disabled auto reboot. Now however, i cannot get into recovery from download mode. The tablet stays in download mode...I hold the power button down to turn off, and it right away reboots the unit, it doesnt turn it off..ive also tried holding the recovery trigger buttons through the entire turn off/reboot process...goes to android.....Ive tripped Knox, get success/pass in Odin, seemingly just need to get to TWRP recovery right from download mode which i cant seem to do, other than maybe taking out the battery when done in download mode, then boot into recovery....
thanks,

Sorry, have been busy lately.
As of today, you will have two options:
You can use the version vanir_bacon_5.0.0.120214.zip that will have working root buildin but a permissive SELinux (and therefore there is some risk of something invading your system) or you can use the version vanir_bacon_5.0.0.120214.enforced.zip and install SuperSU afterwards...

You can try without wiping data: just wipe system, dalvik and cache partitions, flash your ROM, flash gapps, reboot.
for everyone who wants to change the settings for the notification bar weather: just add a "cLock" widget and set everything up there. :good:

No need to apologize. Everyone was a noob once. I think you'll have to wait until the developer updates xposed to work with ART. I can't imagine it'll be long. If you search XDA you might even find a thread.

Upon further research, it is confirmed that Vanir ROM does NOT include any modem files. Sorry for the previous misinformation.
I just flashed it and got caught in a bootloop I turned it off but it finally booted because (and I dont know the reasoning behind how it works, I just know it worked) I booted into fastboot and then reboot it that way and it works.
EDIT: It only works when you have a usb plugged and when you unplug it it reboots.
Will flashing a new kernel like AK fix this problem?

Yeah I came from stock and wiped everything. The Rom would only run if usb debugging was enabled and when I tried to reboot into recovery, it wouldnt let me unless i selected recovery from the power menu, then waited until the twrp logo showed up, then unplugged it. Otherwise it would just reboot into the rom
Latest vanir has a kernel that needs latest firmware to work.
Our Exodus has a kernel that works with normal firmware so you might want to use this.
And you should maybe stay away from CM's new firmware as we got informed that at least find7 seems to hardbrick with the newest firmware and find7 is very close to bacon...

I have insalled 13.01 nightly CM12 and I don't have any problems. No bootlops, no brick. Not tried today nightly yet.
