Im having an issue with my calling. When I go to make a phone call to anyone the screen is completely black and I can not access my dialer or anything else while I'm on the phone but if I turn on my Bluetooth lg tones and make a phone call the screen will turn on and let me navagate threw my phone and I don't know how to fix this issue I was running android l from the Google website. Then I went to slim ROM weekly with Franco kernel and posted about my issue was told to flash factory image so I did and still broken. So I decided to completely unroot to 4.4.2 and lock my bootloader and take the 4.4.4 ota to see if that would fix the issue and it is still broken I'm curious if anyone has heard of this problem and has a solution to the fix? I also tried to just flash the 4.4.4 kernel and that didn't work either. Thank you for any help in advance

Most likely a hardware issue with the location sensor. If you're still under warranty I'd consider using it.
Edit, if you have a case on take that off first, it could be interfering with the sensor

Download the 4.4.4 firmware and flash that in fastboot. Google nexus 5 factory image. Extract it and double click on the flash-all.bat. If you don't have fastboot, Google 15 second adb install xda. That'll set it up

Installing with fastboot didn't work, or it did, but same problem? An important clarification.
I flashed a stock factory image with fastboot and it didn't work then I unrooted the phone to stock 4.4.2 took the update to 4.4.4 then tried and it was still broken then I rooted and tried again and its still broken

If it's the same after a fresh stock install, then it's likely hardware. Tho honestly, I've never heard of this particular issue.
Thanks for your help on this that's just whatbi don't understand because it was all fine until I rand dev preview of android l let's hope the 5.0 ota fixes this issue if not then o well

Wait. You need to solve your fastboot issue and flash stock. What you've done won't change anything. You need a clean install .
---------- Post added at 08:20 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:18 PM ----------
Ota"s are not clean installs. Figure out the fastboot issue and flash 4.4.4.

My nexus 5 will not read any sim card at the moment. I flashed back to stock 4.4.3 and ever since that, no matter what carrier sim card I put in, I get no call reception. The phone is recognizing there is a sim in because I flashed a custom ROM and whenever I put in a sim from T-Mobile,att, etc., there APN settings come up. I have no idea what's going on. I am no noob. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Restore a nandroid if you have one. It should fix it.
Flashing factory images didn't help me to recover the network signal and to detect the sim card.

Yes it's possible. Are you trying to just return to stock/another rom or do you want to flash back your nandroid? There's an easy way to flash zip files through twrp easily. *adb sideload*

I've tried that... No dice. I've tried everything. At this point I'm guessing its hardware. Although it doesn't make much sense that the phone is recognizing there is a sim in just will not connect to a network. This is a major bummer.

Just wanted to know if its possible to root (towel root) flash custom recovery and custom roms and then if I decide to later revert totally back to stock unrooted nexus without a PC. Ive attempted to read up on this but I'm a little confused that ill need to use SDK and ADB which i can't have access to at the moment or have the skills to use.
I've seen apps on google play to unlock boot loader once towel rooted but I'm just unsure if i can revert totally back to an unrooted nexus 5 with original recovery, without a pc as I'm using an iMac and having really unreliability with it :/
Id greatly appreciate any help :good:

There are a couple different options.
I'm not sure if flashify requires a unlocked bootloader. Root, flash custom recovery with flashify, make a backup. When you are done either restore backup or if stock already use flashify to flash stock recovery, delete root apps, unroot via supersu.
Boot unlocker I have heard will work to lock and unlock boot loader but I'm not sure about resetting the tamper flag.
Using fastboot and adb is always going to be the surest and safest way to root etc. Unless you are going to be submitting your phone for RMA there should be no reason to unroot. You can always flash a stock rooted ROM and just leave it.

Steps are;
-Download boot unlocker fr on play
-Download flashify from play (just in case)
-Download vomers stock ROM (number 6 in resources section in the link in my signature)
-Download stock recovery (number 7 in resources section in the link in my signature)
Firstly, flash the recovery zip via your current recovery and reboot
Then, reset The tamper flag and lock the boot loader
Finally, open SuperSU and use the full indoor option to remove Root
Good as new.

Today I received a phone recharge, and the first 5 minutes after this recharge everything was good, but then, with no sense, my smartphone didn't receive the signal.

I tried to change the SIM, but it doesn't work anyway...

Assuming the reprovision didn't work and you can confirm its not the SIM card damaged.. You could always flash a different radio in recovery or return to stock 4.4.4 via factory image to verify its not the software it'll also flash the latest stock radio.
Unfortunately my pc doesn't work, so I can't do nothing for now, there are other things that I can try?

Flash the factory image in fastboot and see if that solves the problem. If it doesn't it could be a hardware issue.
Edit, I see you don't have a pc Can you borrow one?

Install Philz Touch. Wipe all partitions and flash vomer's stock 4.4.4 rom via recovery. This should be enough in most cases to rule out a software issue. But I agree, fastboot cleaning has solved my problems which recovery wipes couldn't!

If someone running the latest AT&T update, IIRC 21p, could take a nandroid and upload the system, boot, and modem partitions it would help me out a lot.
Don't have a PC at the moment so I can't go back to stock to take the OTA for fear of losing root and custom recovery.

Try taking out the SIM card and checking for the update on WiFi after a couple reboots. Works for me every time, of the update is 100% available.
