Stock Atrix 2 - flashing question - Motorola Atrix 2

My wife has an Atrix 2 (MB865) thats shes had for nearly 2 years - shes constanly complaining how slow it is.
I would like to flash something to speed it up debloat etc.
it is currently STOCK running 4.0.4.
Am i able to just Root/install bootstrap recovery/flash any rom?
or do i have to partially update to Jelly bean to use the KitKat roms?
Anyone answering my questions will be given THANKS.
Cheers.

Use Boot Menu Manager instead of bootstrap, then yes that is all.

What a way to make people know that it's not new
New is the version 2.2.1 instead of 2.2 (see history of the page)
Otherwise i don't know what is difference
This isn't new it is the same .sbf that my ROM is based on

Meanwhile I tried it on my phone and I'm still having the flash bug, right after fresh, clean install... Did you apply any fix?

No, no fixes. I did flash over 2.34 though if that makes a difference.
Mods could delete this topic as long as this rom isnt new, so ppl wont spend time here.
Well, I don't know if it's new are not but I do know that it's fully working unlike the last one I tried. I'm a happy guy. Yesterday I thought I had a bricked Defy(thanks to Sorensiim for his McGyver trick) and today I have a fully functional Froyo Defy.
ROM is rooted
3G works
Camera/Flash works
Google apps and market work
For those interisted I went from a clean install of 2.34. Did a wipe. Installed the new(?) chinese froyo 2.2.1 ROM. Wiped again. And all is well.
In this rom, is there a bootloader file?
Maybe there is a unlocked bootloader because some one said he could flash all the time all now?
Which Language is inside?

Currently running miui with matrix kernel and I'm looking into flashing a stock gingerbread ROM to receive ics when it is released. I've flashed customs ROMs before but have never gone back to stock. How do I go about doing this? Will I need to reroot my phone? And will I be able to flash a kernel on the stock ROM? Thanks

I wouldn't worry about it. Someone kind will post it here in a zip file soon after release i would imagine!

If someone makes one, sure.
sorry for abusing you thread, mokflurry, but i also have a question regarding requirements for the upcoming ota-update.
i am running stock rom, rooted, with cwm and custom kernel.
regarding the recovery, i already read, that this shouldn't be a problem. can anybody confirm that?
and what about the kernel? will i have to return to complete stock for ota?
thanks in advance!

You can be rooted with another recovery, But need stock rom and kernel.
Until and unless you believe that you will be the first one to get the OTA, you need not worry about the OTA. It will be up on XDA as soon as OTA is rolled and you be flashing it even before the OTA is actually is pushed to you

if you are rooted, just install an ICS ROM. (it will also block any JB OTA)
if you are not rooted - get rooted.

Well, I know another way... But it can take time...
Get the Stock imgs for Xoom and flash them (beware you'll lost ALL your data, even your precious photos and songs!), then you update until ICS again...
Or get rooted.

Brand New Warranty replacement S3 4.3 - Am I screwed?

So my last s3 stopped working and I got a new one sent via my extended warranty. Previously I had an unlocked bootloader and root running gummy 4.4 which was awesome! My new phone came stock with 4.3 touchwiz which I am reading might be bad news. So here are my questions:
1) Is there really no way to unlock the bootloader on 4.3?
2) What are my alternatives to installing custom roms?
3) Is safestrap a stable/safe option even though its in beta?
4) Can safestrap be reversed if a method for unlocking the bootloader is revealed?
5) Where can I find a rooting tutorial for 4.3? Can I lose root easily/ corrupt my phone if a Samsung update is applied?
6) Should I wait for a downgrade option? Slash is it supposedly possible (twitter update)?

As of this minute, one option: Saferoot then Safestrap.
3) Is safestrap a stable/safe option even though its in beta?

Yup. Read the replies in Safestrap if you need reassurance.
4) Can safestrap be reversed if a method for unlocking the bootloader is revealed?

Yup, you could even Odin flash VRUCML1 4.3 tar and be back to "normal" again. However, don't count on the 4.3 bootloader being unlocked. There's no guarantee anyone is even utilizing their time to find an exploit and its entirely possible no one is.
5) Where can I find a rooting tutorial for 4.3? Can I lose root easily/ corrupt my phone if a Samsung update is applied?

Read me. Use Saferoot, then SafeStrap. Yes, much worse could happen in a future update as well.

That's your call. It's possible, but whether it comes to fruition is entirely different.

I was wondering can we flash custom kernels then flash the dependencies or are we stuck with the safestrap kernel?

I think flashing a custom kernel isn't suggested with SafeStrap. I don't know the specifics, maybe @BadUsername or someone else can expand on that? I thought I read that you are still running the stock kernel even if you flash a custom kernel when using SafeStrap. Someone was discussing this before but it was not explicitly proven they were in fact running the custom kernel.

Good deal! Glad xposed works. How you liking alliance by the way? I'm torn between that and clean rom. I'm actually not the most familiar with TW roms currently. Before this replacement phone I was all ASOP.

I've come to the conclusion I want to use my partitions to the full capacity so I'm sticking with stock rom + xposed for any modifications I need..
Yeah same here, I was AOSP for awhile soon as I discovered Quantum Kernels..

Quantum Kernels huh. Not familiar with those kernels. Ill have to check them out. I would use the stock rom as well Im just worried about a random automatic update that would kill root and make my replacement phone even more useless than it already is without an unlocked bootloader. Do you know if there a way to disable the Samsung update center on the stock rom using root?

Even 4 yrs old Motorola Defy (+) is also getting Android 5.0 Lollipop port :silly:
Well i hope that android L will be accessible for Atrix2 this year, may be through unofficial CM12……
I am sure our wonderful A2 devs will bring the Android 5.0 on our Atrix 2 .
Even a years old 800 mhz single core OMAP driven Defy had got Android 5.0 then why not Atrix 2!

Not at all, in fact it's not compatible with flashing any rom after ICS, else you're sure to soft-brick. It's much older and unmaintained so it's virtually the last recovery we'd need for anything new.
Aside from that, I haven't done much about Safestrap since the last time. I've had a pretty busy week this week, and lately have been attending other matters so no sense in being impatient.

So Razr now have 4 LP ROMS but they are unstable I guess Edison is waiting for their stability
What about converting RAZR new safestrap to atrix 2? We could then flash rsdlite back to stock, install new safestrap, and port a 5.0 rom and flash? Suppose its obviously not that simple but an idea since 5.0 roms dont seem to work with bmm
