Problem with opo toolbox - Anyone knows what to do? - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there,
I downloaded the toolbox from here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/development/toolbox-oneplus-one-toolbox-t2808987) several times.
First try I got the notice from ESET Security, that the archive is broken.
Second time I got the notice from ESET Security, that there is a dialer in the archive.
No, 3rd try, I got the notice from first try (archive broken) and the size of the archive is different.
No I´m really confused
Is there a MD5 checksum or s.t. like that?
Just want to try to flash back to 33R from my 38R that I dirty flashed a couple of days ago and then do the OTA.

Eset is marking it a problem, disable Eset. Download the toolbox then mark it safe. Or better yet use adb yourself to flash and do what you nees

Hi Ross!
Thx for reply.
Sure that Eset is the problem?
But why is it that the download has different sizes and is broken?
Haven´t got this problem elsewhere...

Don't bother with the toolbox and use fastboot.

Step 1. Ditch toolkit.
Step 2. Learn to do things manually.
Step 3. Be proof proud of your achievements.
Step 4. Be able to get yourself out of trouble when problems occur in future. You won't be able to do this if you use a toolkit because it lets you achieve things without actually learning anything.

I've also mentioned this to some people. Forget toolkits; imagine you encounter a really bad problem yourself... you won't be able to fix your phone because you have no simple knowledge of things like "fastboot" or "adb". Some of these things are really simple and there is a lot of step by step guides and videos to do these kind of things, that is how I learned! I hope you do too. Good luck!

Hi folks,
nice to hear, that anybody knows what to do... but no one is answering to my question
Just to say:
I know, how to use fastboot commands and all that stuff. I probably read all the "how to´s" to flash the stock 33r, but non worked for me.
I downloaded and installed the newest SDK tools, the correct USB-Drivers, did all that stuff. Used different USB-ports on my PC... Did factory flashs in front of flashing... everything.
Enabled USB debugging, unlocked the BL...- oh my gosh, I could go on for hours.
But everytime I tried, I was ending with: "Target reported maximum size..." blablabla.
So the only thing that worked for now, was dirty flashing with TRWP.
But it seems, that there is something wrong. So i wanted to give a toolbox an chance:good:

Why don't you ask your question in the toolbox thread?

@timmaaa:
Easy to answer: cause I haven´t had enough posts to do so
You need 10posts to be able to answer in there, so I had to ask in here.
But now I can...

BTW:
I tried once again to flash, using fastboot.
Now it worked, even 4 me
Problem was my USB port...
Still had the "maximum size..." error, but finaly everything is on stock 33r now.
38r is downloading already and now installing :victory:

nicely done, and we all had the same answer about the toolkits, because you didn't explain your true problem to us and your knowledge of doing things.
Toolkits make things very easy, but also makes it easy for people to break their phone.

Thx Ross
Yeah, I still dunno why this error-message still appears, even now... when finaly it´s still all okay.
But hey, I dunno have to know everything :silly:
It´s nice to get to knwo your phone and whats possible with it... if u just learn some basic things!
There 4 I love android and my 1+1 :highfive:
Yesterday evening, g.e., I tried the Mahdi Rom.
Did some backup first with TWRP (after I was back @Stock on 38r) and then flashed the rom.
Not mine...
So.. wiped the whole piece and recovered the backup from TWRP- and here we are
Thats awesome!
Now I´ll try a different kernel, the franco seems to be a good choice?!
But first I have to learn, what this will mean to me... and my phone
For sure, I´ll never be the guy who´s programming stuff like that... but will be happy to use it

Issues with Video on Cory's Unofficial Cyanogen

Sorry my first post is a plea for help, but here we are.
I flashed the latest (2013-5-10) version of ..Cory..'s unofficial Cyanogenmod this morning and I'm having issues with video, including my camera viewfinder. Both Youtube and my camera lag to the point of uselessness, though audio on videos plays just fine.
Also sometimes my desktop icons stick around when I pull up the recent apps or notification drawer.
Has anyone else experienced either one of these? I'd post this in the thread for the ROM, but I need to hit my post count first.
And lest I sound ungrateful, big thanks to ..Cory.. for keeping things moving forward while the official version is on hiatus!

So I tried disabling HW in dev settings, and that seems to work for now. Still curious if anyone else has run into this issue.

Check MD5 of your ROM, make sure it matches up if you haven't.
Also, If you haven't done so, try fastboot erase cache prior to wiping and flashing.

Thanks for the advice, exad! I'll try to fastboot erase cache step this weekend. Didn't do it this time because I thought I didn't have to use fastboot now that I have S-OFF.

That command clears the cache for fastboot and recovery, this will ensure that recovery is properly wiping your partitions so be sure to do it before wiping and flashing your rom.

Do you know a decent guide that includes this step? None of the ones I used previously included this step. I get this is an ADB command, but I try to avoid using ADB directly as much as possible due to noobness. Not sure what state my phone has to be in to use the command, etc.

There are no guides because it's assumed that you are familiar with ADB and fastboot if you are on this forum.
fastboot and adb don't rely on states.
fastboot is a tool for pushing and pulling information/files to and from your phone while in bootloader
ADB is a tool that allows you to access your phone via a command line shell interface.
If this is confusing to you, why would you root your phone? And I'm not trying to be rude, this isn't an iphone jailbreak, rooting is COMPLETELY different and can be dangerous if you don't understand. Avoiding adb and fastboot does not make it any less dangerous either.

I considered not asking for advice, but then I thought "Naw, he's already here. I'm sure he won't mind." My apologies for forcing you to deal with my inexperience.
I used the word "state" incorrectly, not remembering at the time it had a specific programming meaning. You still managed to answer my question, though, pointing out my phone needs to be in the bootloader. You also cleared up that fastboot is its own tool rather than just a command used in ADB. Thank you for both those things. I'll figure it out from here.
As for why I'd want to root my phone? Who wouldn't? I don't want to be stuck with whatever AT&T thinks is good enough. I'm sorry if I'm making this club less exclusive, but if people here are going to hack together all this great stuff and give it away for free, I'm going to take advantage of that.

You're misunderstanding, the exclusivity of this site makes no difference to me, I want everyone to be able to root and do cool things with their phones, hell, it's your phone, you bought it, own it, you should be able to do whatever you want with it. You didn't need me to tell you what fasboot and adb are. They're well documented tools with help manuals included. Even a quick google search would tell you everything you need to know about them and more.
You chose to ignore them and hope it won't affect you that you're not understanding what you're doing to your phone. You ask in here hoping for the quick and lazy way to accomplish your task without taking the time to learn what you're doing. I love helping people that's why I'm here posting every day. but you're taking advantage of my good nature and not trying to help yourself by reading, learning and understanding what you're doing.
I wish you luck and I don't want to discourage you for asking for help here when you need it, but please take the time to help yourself first.

I have the same issue with Youtube in landscape mode. I've noticed others have run into it as well.

i tried erasing the cache via fastboot before the wipe+flash, but unfortunately I still had the issue. the only temp fix that works for me so far is disabling HW overlays in the developer options.
You could also try another kernel.

[Q] I made a stupid mistake. I formated data and now I don't have any OS.

Hello, today I decided to unlock, root my phone. I also decided to install new rom. And everything went fine but befor installing I insted Factory reset I formated data. I don't know what I was thinking. It may be that I was using TWRP Touch for a first time. Can somebody help me get back to at least to Stock if it is possible. Is it possible to connect phone in TWRP to transfer data from computer to it?

Does mount usb work on twrp? If so you can copy a rom zip to your device. If not than use search here on xda or google you probably need to unroot again and restore with a factory image.

I found this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/general/tutorial-how-to-flash-factory-image-t2513701

You can either use adb to push a ROM zip to your phone, or just flash the stock images to your phone. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2513701

Please, please, please, help. Spent 7 hours on this and still don't know what to do.

So here's the thing, I'll try to be as short as possible. I was watching this video of this guy (how to root the nexus 5 (safest method)) showing how to root the nexus 5. But everything went wrong and I accidentally wiped the entire phone, now I have no OS.
I have installed a bunch of drivers and stuff here, but don't know how to use them. Please, if someone can give me a stupid proof solution to this, I would be very thankful.
tl;dr: I have no OS and would like to restore my Nexus 5.
Please, guys, I'm desperate. I have a test in 5 hours and already should be sleeping, but I simply can't. I've screwed everything up. Please, help.

This is hardly an issue, solved in a couple minutes. Next time do some research before doing anything to a device that you paid for.
Don't want to do your research? Then sell the Nexus 5, get a locked down Samsung device/iPhone and don't mess with it.
If that is true and you dont have a clue what ever gave you the idea to try and root your phone jesus if you aint got a clue do some homework and learn, there are walkthroughs on this site or just google it........

1. Relax. Its a nexus. This can easily be fixed.
2. We all start somewhere. When we all were noobs to this we all wiped our devices and freaked. Again don't panic. And ignore the guys cursing your noobness. But one thing is for sure - after you fix this, read before you leap.
3. As someone else recommended - there is a tool called wugfresh nexus root all in one...or something like that. Just follow the link in his post. This us a great tool and will save you some pain. Its well laid out and will fix your issues. Just follow the steps. Keep this program handy and on your computer. If you intend on flashing Roms eventually you will make a mistake and wipe your phone again and this will save your bacon.

The answer has already been given.
Choices are:
1) Learn to use fastboot. Return your device to stock.
2) Lear to use adb. push a rom.zip to your sdcard to flash via recovery
Click the link in my signature. ALL important guides are there.
Read the following:
"adb and fastboot. What is it?"
This will help you to do 1 and 2, whichever you decide.

I'll just add, with TWRP if you have an OTG adapter you can plug a thumb drive into the phone and flash a ROM that way. Every now and again I like to start fresh and will copy a ROM onto a thumb drive, I'll wipe the entire phone then re-flash. You'll just have to Mount USB-OTG from the menu.
tbh I dont even know why people use toolkits.
'fastboot oem unlock'
'fastboot flash recovery recovery.img'

Why do you need a toolkit for that?

Not everyone is comfortable using command prompt to fire lines as they think they will mess up (especially people who are new). The toolkits do these things in the background when the user clicks on a button and hence he/she thinks it's the easy/safe way around it without knowing the consequences of it.

[Q] It's been 4 days and I still can't fix this bootloop!

Okay I had an L rom for about a month maybe less. Then Friday night, it just turns off and now all I see is flying colors.
In the ask any question thread I asked and some really awesome dudes were trying to help me but all of their solutions were in vain.
I used method 1 and 2 of the return to stock.
I made sure I followed EVERY step. Still nothing, it's been trying to boot for far far too long.
I really need my phone, and I'm not sure what else to do. I can't jump because I'm broke and that tamper flag is up.
Can someone help me? I have teamveiwer if it helps.
Also I should say I get several errors I think, like no recovery.sig or boot.sig when I clearly just flashed them.
Why do I get these errors? Is nobody else having the same problem as me? I'm getting really frustrated and to anyone who helps me solve my problem will get my oatmeal raisin cookie recipe (Not kidding, that's serious).
Please somebody help me. Ill be constantly refreshing this page so if you have any questions I will answer them.
Have you booted into the bootloader and used a Google bat file to flash the device completely clean?

Yes
Follow http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2513701
Download "15 second adb installer" if you're having issues with adb or fastboot commands
Ignore the .sig errors
Worst case scenario flash each file one by one if flash all.bat doesn't work
Post up what happens after you run flash all.bat too
Have you tried flashing the KitKat factory images instead of Lollipop?

Then you must have corrupt hardware, can you not send it back to Google for fix/replacement?

Either the op fixed the phone and is now celebrating by getting very drunk, or he smashed his phone out of frustration and doesn't care anymore lol.
Either way he's not refreshing this page constantly like he said
I didn't get the insurance or the warranty or nothing
No its still broken but I end up having to help my friend cause he car broke down all day.
No I didn't really want kitkat again, I really wanted to keep L. Ill try it when I can though.
I did both ways, flash all and flash manually but neither worked.

Whether you want it or not, try flashing KitKat just to see if it will boot

Neither worked in what sense? What happens when u flash? Errors? We can't really help much unless u give us info to go on lol

Someone got to find a fix for this

Alcatel OneTouch Flint TWRP

So i was finally able to install TWRP after rooting using this guide from @Casey Campanile
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/alcatel-onetouch-flint-root-t3440088
**You must have ROOT first**
So it is actually pretty simple,
*Download the file i uploaded
*Unzip the TWRP file
*Download FlashFire
Now I did have OEM Unlock in Developer Settings and BusyBox installed when I did this, not sure if it makes a difference.
*Make sure BusyBox is up to date
1. I suggest doing a backup
2. Flash the TWRP file that you unzipped as Firmware Package
3. Done
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO WIPE DEVICE THROUGH THE OPTION IN SETTINGS!!!
P.S. all this is done at your own risk. im not responsible for any bricked devices.
Thanks for the edit suggestions @Casey Campanile

I can't believe no one has thanked you or at least said good going on this.I've had my Flint for about 6 months and used it as a backup mostly.I was sitting at work tonight waiting on the boss and I decided to look up and see if anyone had did anything with the Flint yet.I was floored when I came across your post. Everything is working great with TWRP but if I let it timeout and screen go dark it won't allow me to swipe to unlock. Not a big deal to me but I wanted to report it to you since no one else seems to be commenting on this.I appreciate your hard work and taking the time to do it. Great job!!! ? ??

I've got an issue with TWRP I can't seem to find anything on.Wanted to see if you could help me figure it out.Initially after installing all was well.Made a backup and rebooted.Today,a month later I wanted to do a factory reset and Initially tried via settings/backup/device reset. It just rebooted back to home screen.I then rebooted into TWRP and tried via wipe but nothing will mount. My SD card won't even mount and everything shows all 0's.Any ideas?I'm not a noob by any means but I can't figure this one out.

Hmm, that's seems weird haven't experienced that before. I haven't tried to do a full swipe yet on this phone. Did it complete the wipe?

No it didn't.I couldn't get anything to mount in recovery to complete a wipe.I think perhaps that we should do a warning about trying to wipe from backup/reset in settings. At least until we figure this out.I was finally able to do a reset via Flash fire but nothing will mount in recovery still.

That sounds like a good idea only thing I would try is to try and restore the backup you did and try and reflash TWRP see if that does anything I have yet to try and reset this phone considering its my daily phone currently my lg g3 suffered the fading screen and I couldn't get it fixed

I highly recommend the Honor 5x if youre budget inclined and the Mate 8 if you have a few extra $$.I had the 5x and it actually is a damn nice device.I beat the Nexus 6 in Antutu scores with it.

That's pretty impressive I'm gonna look into that one, one thought just crossed my mind you try flashing your recovery through the fastboot commands on the bootloader?
I tried reflashing every way possible.Still nothing will mount.I think you may want to add a warning to the OP not to try and factory reset via settings.Maybe we can figure it out.
I added it to the OP. Something that might help is when I was digging thru this phone I found out it's the same as the Alcatel pop 3 5.5 looks like they just renamed it
OMG, this has been great. Im all rooted and TWRPd with my Flint now. It is a great feeling, but Im not sure what to do next Are there any benefits to this now? I can't find any custom roms for it...is there a way to get something newer than Android 5.1.1 installed?

No custom ROMs rn but u can install Xposed for lollipop and u can remove bloatware with titanium backup
Cool, so, I'm not clear what Xposed gives me though. Is it worth it?
Hey Xposed has different modules you can install, my favorite are YouTube background play and YouTube ad blocker but they have various ones, just take a look on the downloads section in xposed

Wow, my day is complete. This is great. Going to install soon. Ive been looking for a YouTube ad blocker! :good:
Just wanted to follow up again and say thanks for pointing me to this. I've got the framework installed and now im going through the modules, picking what looks good to me. This is pretty much all I needed I dont care if we never get a custom rom at this point.
Your welcome, there's a lot of modules, I would say just be careful which ones you install and use. Ive had some that gave me problems
CyanogenMod a possibility?
