until Samsung's accessories page goes live next week, you're better off going through Expansys. i buy from them frequently. they never disappoint and always ship earlier than listed.

Thank you, sir!
May I ask if anyone knows which QI charging pad is compatible?
Samsung is releasing their own Qi charging pad/station pretty soon. I personally use the one from TYLT. It's been great with my Nexus 7 and my friend's Nexus 5.
I believe any QI standard charging pad is compatible.
^^^ correct

Well, when the Note 2 first came out I tried two different QI charging pads that were supposed to be compatible. While one worked partially and was impractical as it would connect/charge for a few seconds and disconnect randomly, the other would not work at all. Perhaps I'll wait for the Samsung one as I am sure that will be reliable.
Has anyone seen the measurements on the wireless backing. I have a few cases pre-ordered and hope they will work with the official back. On the Note 3 I had to get rid of the official wireless back and replace it with the Tylt wireless pad and the original back.
This is a good news.
Back cover
Thanks for the info
I just got my Note 4 today.
The wireless charging pins on the back look very close to the same as the S5.
I have a QI receiver for my S5 that I am going to try when I get home and see if it works with the Note 4.
Anyone else want to test it out in the mean time.

Very interested if the S5 one works so I can order some QI Battery Receivers if so
My local Verizon store had the wireless charge S-view cover for $50, a hell of lot easier on the wallet with the link posted to Expansys. Appreciate it !!
MY guess is that it won't fit most cases, so keep us updated.

Without a doubt the official Qi back will be at least 1.5mm thicker than the non Qi back making it incompatible with nearly all cases. The way to go is by just dropping a Qi receiver behind the original cover.

Spridell,
Any luck getting the QI receiver from your S5 to work with your new note 4? I'm hoping it does work so I can get one ordered for my Note 4 shortly after it arrives. I've been using one with my S4 for the past year plus and definitely don't want to add to the thickness of the Note by using the Samsung QI back cover.
Thanks!

Thanks for letting us know. I was able to find this side by side of the Samsung Charging Cover. If you look in the picture, it appears that the backs are not snapped on all the way, so keep that in mind. It does appear to be at least 1mm thicker.

I'm modding the S4 to work with the Palm touchstone wireless charging dock and found out that even without modding the phone the touchstone has pretty strong magnets that hold the phone all by itself. When I get some copper tape I'll finish the mod and show my results.
If you have the touchstone you can use it as a magnetic dock like I am currently. It's pretty cool, also it holds the phone pretty strongly, In fact I can use the phone while it's on the dock. Even when charging (usb cable connected) it still holds the phone nicely...

I'd like to see your mods to the coil. I was playing with a spare coil and trying to figure out how to position near the bottom and make the electrical connections.
Thanks.

Do all the Palm touchstones use qi technology or is that what you're modding. I have already ordered the module from wiqiqi for the S 4 for $25 bucks but didn't like the big flat plate they sold. This would be a great alternative for work.

No, the palm is not QI. You will not be able to mix and match coils and chargers.. The Palm coil and Touchstone only with work together.
i´ve done it last year with the S3 and Note 2. Now i did it with the S4 and it works like a charm
Here are my Pictures.
great work! Which of the terminals is positive and negative, and also, which ports do you connect
i used .the left connector´s. It was more luck that it works because i don´t know why there are on the right side another connectors .
I couldn´t say which one is the positive and which is nagative because i didn´t test it. I´ve connect it like on my pictures and it work´s.
I´ve used the left connector´s because they are the same then on S3 and Note 2. I think the right connector´s are for NFC because the original Samsung Cover is "extreme" fat
With my solution there is a little camber in the Battery Case and nothing else. That means that you can use any nice thin Protection Cover for the S4 and it charges through the Cover.
That looks really nice.
Did you do any soldering?
Very cool. How effective is charging with this? How long does it take? Thanks.

Basically, I'm looking for a way to enable my S4 to charge wirelessly and try some chargers.
I've seen some receivers online and heard that there is a backdoor for S4 that is QI enabled. What's the best way to proceed?

But I thought a Amazon seller was safer bet
Its thin and NFC works, Charges at 640ma
I highly recommend this one. It fits under the stock Samsung battery cover even with my zero lemon 3000 mah ext battery. I would go with this one (link at bottom of post) with the versa 2 charging pad over the their curve charging pad. They claim the curve 2 handle cases at thick as 5mm and the curve at 3mm. They also offer a versa 1st gen for $5 less. For a a few extra I'd go with the newer generation. I've been using mine for prob close to six months now since they released it and it performs great. There is one down fall though. My nfc doesn't work. Might just be my luck, I dunno for sure. Maybe someone else can chime in if they have this one. I don't have a need for nfc currently. I love wireless charging.
I've tried many cases with my wireless charging kit and they all work through the case. Spigen neo, bodyglove, leather flip case and one with a thick clear plastic back. Currently using a balllistic sg maxx for a few months now with no issues. This is the thickest case I've tried and I didn't think it would even work.
It really is a life save. Sometime after I got my wireless charging kit my usb port died. Not sure when though. Went to charge my phone one day in a friends car and nothing. Got home and tried again, nothing. Tried my wireless pad, starts charging right away. Even tried hooking my phone to my pc, wouldn't recognize my phone as ext usb storage or charger. Finally bought a new usb board ebay for $11. They are really easy to change. Went prob 4 months with no usb port, just wireless. Googled the issue and lots of people have the same problem.

The receiver link that chrisdfw posted seems interesting. Working nfc and and up to 7000 mah charging current. Seems to good to be true. If so it should be able to charge your phone pretty fast if you have a good wireless charging pad that can output enough. My phone takes prob 4-5 hrs with my mosnter watts kit and no nfc. I think the s4 can only handle like 640 mah for wireless charging if I'm not mistaken.

I bought this:

and this:
http://www.att.com/shop/wireless/accessories/chargers/sku6290260.html#fbid=I2SgasOKRDt (heck a discount when you order 3)
They charge at 640mha which is slightly disappointing. the insert is "capable" of 1Ah and the pad is "capable" of 750mha and never got other units to test with. all in all I didn't drop a lot of money and it works even with thicker cases too. It doesn't interfere with the built in NFC in the battery. I'm fairly happy with the buy. If you want a pics of what it looks like installed here's the thread:

AFAIK, all QI setups for the S4 charge @ 640mA. I have a 1A Nexus Orb with a generic 1A QI sticker and a genuine Sammy QI battery cover. They both charge at 640mah sadly.
A good Qi receiver and charging station.

That's a good question. I have a zl 3000mah and I'd say it takes 4-5 hrs completely drained. Would be interesting. The problem is getting a wireless receiver to make contacts with the charging studs. I have some copper foil tape I'm thinking would work. Just need a 7500 zl to test it with. It'd be great with their rugged case if I could make it work. I'm pretty sure it would though

It's a powerbank and charger...reminds me of that thing from Lugulake, just smaller capacity, but it's from Mugen, so should be good.
and this QI receiver from mugen
Available to buy here here
I had one of those charging pads that fit under the stock back cover and it was OK. It worked, but the problem was always you need to put the phone PERFECTLY on the charger or it would stop charging after a few seconds. It just got annoying.
What I would recommend is getting the Samsung Oem charging cover. I have seen a few on Ebay and they are less than $20. I bought one and I couldn't be happier. The charging just works as good as my Nexus. I have no complaints.
Here is a sample add that I found
http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=251364515988
I honestly wouldn't waste my time with anymore wireless receiver pads that create a buldge and get your phone hot. Plus they are finicky on getting the contacts to touch.

My turn to give back since I have read A LOT about this subject on here. I might even do a review if I have the time!
I bought the Incipio Dual Pro Shine case, for my Galaxy S5 with the WIRELESS CHARGING BACK. As we all know by now it is next to impossible to find a case that fits this phone with the Wireless charging. I contacted all of the major case manufacturers and they don't know anything about their products. I went to the AT&T store(after going to VZN, Sprint, Tmobile and many other stores in the mall, I hate AT&T!) and went through ALL of their cases and nothing, not pelican, otter, lifeproof, spigen, belkin etc etc and came upon this case. I had never heard of this brand since I loved the otterbox commuter cases. It was love at first sight. It is identical to the Otterbox commuter case except that it fits!
I have the Diztronic on it's way which I will be returning since it isn't of the best quality.
Since I will never buy another product from AT&T again after they throttled my account after being the highest priced provider and me being a loyal customer for over 10 years and having an unlimited data plan, I went home and checked online for it. Best buy had it for $17 (AT&T had it $40) so I ordered it to the nearest store, no in-store. I went yesterday to the store to pick it up and it fits perfectly and charges ofcourse! It is a dual case, rubber on the inside and hard shell on the outside. I haven't dropped it yet but it feels safe enough for me.
cant upload pics directly, sorry
Please fell free to ask any questions.
Interesting...I hadn't tried it myself but I asked a couple of stores and they said that this case would not work. I'm happy to hear that it does because this was my favorite case for my S3.
Do you have the Qi or the Powermat charging back? I know most people go Qi but I got Powermat since Starbucks will be supporting that soon

I think the official/main one is Qi only. See here: https://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones-accessories/EP-CG900IBUSTA
The one AT&T sells is Powermat. Unless they really do support both formats and only advertise one.

The Incipio case should be delivered today and I'll let you know how it works for me.

Ok, I bought the Incipio DualPro, not the DualPro Shine, because I wanted more grip. The DualPro has a more rubbery outer layer than the DualPro Shine.
But it's too thick for charging
I wasn't able to get the wireless charging to work after fiddling with it for 15 minutes. I'll send this one back and try the Shine.
I was told by incipio that there isn't a difference. I thought the shine wouldn't charge and they told me that it really doesn't matter.
I had to return another Sammy mini charger since it would blink orange every morning and never be completely charged in the morning. Hopefully this one will not be defective like the last two.

There are 2 different cases on Amazon that fit the S5+wireless charging back... In fact, Samsung's own protect case for the S5 works with the charging back (I should know, I have both...).
That's why I'm surprised the Note 4 samsung protect cover doesn't fit ... Because the S5 one does.

I think we'll agree to disagree on that.. Yes, you can get some of the TPU covers on the S5, but it's very clear that they're not made to accommodate the extra bulk. I tried the Samsung TPU case on the S5 - it looked horrendous and rendered the ports inaccessible without me performing contortions every time I had to use them. I had to cut it to get it off the device.
As far as I'm aware, no manufacturers make a case to accommodate the wireless charging backs (Note x, S4, S5). Some kind of fit, rarely well.

Both of the S5 cases I have fit perfectly, and specifically said they were made to work with the wireless charging back - including the samsung one I got.
I agree regular s5 cases don't fit right. The two I'm talking about do, as they were made to.
One is by diztronic:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00LLM9MQY
the other is this one by Samsung :
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00KGGK63E
(note the comments that all agree it fits with the charging back)
My only point in this is that samsung, and other 3rd parties, HAVE made cases that fit correctly with the wireless charging cover.
Hopefully someone will do the same for the note 4.
Where i can buy this cover? Any online link pls?

One is by diztronic:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00LLM9MQY
the other is this one by Samsung :
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00KGGK63E
(note the comments that all agree it fits with the charging back)
My only point in this is that samsung, and other 3rd parties, HAVE made cases that fit correctly with the wireless charging cover.
Hopefully someone will do the same for the note 4.

Same for me.. I have a Diztronic case which looks similar to that S5 one, but for my S4 with the Samsung Wireless Charging cover, and it fits perfectly and in no way covers or misaligns any of the ports, IR, or mic holes.. it's perfect. I got if off Amazon also.
As for Note 4 tho, I would like to find similar products as I intend on purchasing the Note 4 Wireless Charging Cover and would probably want to wrap it in a case to protect it if/when I do drop it.. hopefully they start making some soon.

Yep. That Diztronic case is specially made for the OEM wireless charging back on the S5. Anyone saying otherwise hasn't done their research. I own it, and it's a perfect fit. It won't fit properly on the standard S5 back since it's made for the thicker wireless back.
I'm also hoping that we get a case that's designed to work with the OEM wireless charging back. Samsung missed the boat on not making the protective case compatible.
Maybe we can convince Diztronic to make one for the Note the

They haven't released a case for the Note 4 with the standard back yet, so I don't see that happening anytime soon.
I wish someone would make a qi case similar to the LG g3 case that replaces the back cover and ads a small bumper....
The genuine Note 4 S-View flip cover with integrated Qi is on Samsung's mobile accessories site. $69.
What a terribly huge mistake I have made.
I bought both because I wanted my phone to be both wirelessly-chargeable and safe (I had a charging PAD under the original cover and a bumper case for Note 3).
I can't have both.
What frustrates me is that if I took the previous approach and buy crappy chinese items, I would not have this problem. The charging pad did not create such a huge bulge and the protective cases would still fit. I wanted quality so I chose Samsung for both, and all I have is disappointment and a huge invoice.
Did the same on my note 3 and it worked flawlessly for 13 months..
Tested through my Ringke Fusion case and Spigen capsule case.. Both work perfect.

The hard part is lining the receiver up in the back cover.. If you need some tips let me know. I have mastered this now doing it on 3 devices and friends phones
Does tap to pay work? Couldn't get it to with the YooTech I got.

I actually do not use tap to pay but if you order a receiver that supports Nfc then I don't see an issue.
That's what I thought doesn't seem to be the case.

Any reason you didn't just use double sided tape on the back side?

I tried that.. Trust me I've tried everything every which way.
Nothing held it in place perfectly like this did. Literally half a mm shift and it doesn't make contact. It has to be exactly precise.
This way it's really locked into place and ive used it on 3 different chargers and it's been perfect
Bought the same setup as you and i am experiencing an issue with thr charger...if i set the phone on the charger in landscape in the vertical slanted position it will charge for a while but then stop and i can hear a clicking that comes from the charger. Sometimes the charger will even cycle from charging to not and the blue light on bottom starts blinking.
Have you had any issues?

I should have added... I sent back that charger. It was terrible.
I am only using my CHOE 3 Coil Wireless Charger which is unbelievable. Huge sweet spot and never failed me in the 2 years I've had it. I think it's about $20 on Amazon.

Ahh ok. That makes sense. I guess i ought to return this one tooas it seems to be garbage. The charging coil itself seems fine though.
Thanks

I did this on my S4 with a hot glue gun by placing the receiver on the phone itself, put a few small dabs of hot glue on the wireless receiver then put on the back cover. Now when you remove your back cover the receiver will be attached in the perfect location.

That's an excellent idea and I thought of doing that but didn't have a hot glue gun. That would definitely be very accurate
Does it deform the oem back cover? I have the cheapo ebay receiver and the phone won't sit flat.
