Block feature? - Xperia Z3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just realized i cannot block incoming calls / messages on this device? Used to be able to do it on my last 3 handsets but not this? This sucks as its a feature that should come with ALL handsets in my opinion! In a world where where bullying is rife and one f the methods used to bully is texting , let alone just general harassment from unwanted numbers and so forth ! To have a feature that enables you to take control and block this kinda crap is vital if you ask me! I understand to some people this may be no big deal but i see this as a huge disappointment!!
However,i assume theres little i can do about it so does anyone know of any trust worth and reliable apps that will do the same job?

I've not had a phone that could do it natively but my last three phones were Nexus devices so I always had CM or SlimROM which add this feature. sorry to hear you suffer abusive messages, I only needed it for blocking sales calls and crap like that.
There are a few apps in the Play Store that will do this but I hear good things about this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vladlee.easyblacklist
Apparently it does have a bug though where it drops an active call if a blocked call or message comes in at the same time.

You can add a number to your phone book then select "All calls to voicemail" in the contacts app.
1. Add the contact.
2. Go to dialer, swipe to the contacts
3. Edit the contact
4. Press the 3 dots on the top right
5. Select box - "all calls to voicemail"
This is the only option I can find for calls. Not ideal though as they can leave a message
As for texts, maybe an alternative text app?

Cheers man, thats summit i guess! Not ideal though as you said! I use textra as my default sms app but unfortunately no block feature on that either! I think vodafone have an app i can download. I might look in to that Needless to say this is only available to vodafone customers so i might be lucky as iam one

now you can block sms on your expiria z
What I did? I just downloaded an app from Play store named CLEAN INBOX, Installed it and made it as my default sms provider. Then I upgraded it to premium version for 0.79€. Premium version automaticaly blocks and deleats all unwanted sms from your inbox. Then I disabled my default sms provider. You can do it in settings / apps/ sms / and disable it or force stop. Your phone will be fully functional without it. Good luck and rnjoy your phone without any disturbers

Block incoming calls

Hi, I don't know if a post has been put up, but I don’t know what to search for. I was wondering if any knew of any software on windows mobile 5 which will enable me to block specific incoming calls from my phonebook or calls as private or unknown numbers and sms/text messages.
Need something like this badly
MDA pro
This may be what you are after
I use Inesoft Address Book and it offers the functionality you require, except for text messages. The large contact photos and other enhancements are also very good.
THANKS mosgeo
Many Thanks mosgeo for you promt reply. Am downloading the cab version from the site. is this a full version?
Yes, completely non-crippled for 14 days. The bit you are looking for is the 'Incoming calls' menu item on the Today tray (bottom right, silhouette icon).
Incidentally, I found the Today ABC plugin took up too much room (and possibly slowed things down, not sure) and removed it via the options.

i am in a simular situation however is it possible to rather than block text messages from a particular contact i would rather not be notified, i.e. Dave sends me a text message and it notifies me as normal however if psyco girl sends me a message it wont flash up on my screen for all to see......

Noob question on WP7

1) When I tried to make a phone call, I click on Contact - except that I see a big list of people imported from all over the place, even some has no telephone attached to it. I can filter out by source, but is it possible to make it so that when you are making a call, only contact with telephone is shown?
Now I have Exchange and facebook contact list. Facebook usually does not have a phone associated. If I include both then when I am making a call I have a rather huge list to go through. If I exclude facebook then I cannot see them in the "Picture" app. The contact filter seems to be global.
2) Is there anyway to check out other region's marketplace, or apps in Chinese in general (without the name of the app).
3) Is there a way to show the status permanently. My area has weak cell phone coverage so when I want to make a call, I want to make sure there is 2 bars at that location. It is annoying to click something just to see this info when every other phone does not need to.
4) There seems to be no way to adjust ring volume by itself, which is a total W T F when you considered my 15 years old Nokia can do that! .
1-in settings goto applications, then people click on filter my contact list then uncheck Facebook or any other accounts where the contacts may not have numbers, then uncheck only see posts from people in my contact list.
2-I'm always seeing apps in Chinese in the marketplace. as for filtering probably the only way to do so from the phone is to change the region settings. the web marketplace is a different story tho.

Native feature to block calls/text on kitKat

does the Nexus 5 have a native feature to block calls and text w/o having to buy a 3rd party app just like iphone iOS7 now has such feature to block unwanted calls or text. The brief moment that I had my Nexus 5, I spent a lot of time searching for the native feature and I didn't find it, had to download a 3rd party app instead.
No it doesn't.
Download Mr Number.
Free and integrates as far or as little as you prefer.
Thank you guys, I just wanted to confirm if the stock kitKat had a native blocking feature. I assume any 3rd party app always has to be running, contributing to more battery draining.
Yes it does, theres an option to send any contact direct to voicemail. On all my android phones I've never needed a 3rd party app, I just have a single contact i call "SPAM" and add any number to it I want to block. Works perfect. (can't block text however).
Also, how do you do that in iOS7, I never found that option, my wife would love to know...
I have been testing a lot of blocking apps on KitKat ans there is no one compatible...
Hangouts still receive notification ...

^ This. It's the best way I have found to block callers in stock Android, though it's disappointing that you can't simply tap/hold on a call in history and mark it as "blocked" like you can with most Android skins.

No app required!
Open the app "PEOPLE", Click on the contact you wish to block, open menu, select "All calls to voicemail"
And what about text messages ?

I notice this thread mentions blocking calls...
What is not to understand about the question? People want to block calls. Not dump them to voicemail. Cyanogenmod has (had?) a blacklist. This allowed one to either add numbers or even wild card numbers in addition to holding the hang up button when disconnecting the call. Subsequently, when one of the added parties tried to call, they were meet with one ring, after which the call appeared to be disconnected or broken in some way. Why is it so difficult for T-Mobile, Google, LG, HTC, Verizon, etc, to implement this as a standard feature?
If you don't have root you can silence the ringtone at the start of the call. Try http://cond.im

[APP] Calls Blocker

Are you tired of that heavy that call you twenty times each day? ::
HOW IT WORKS
With this app you can block incoming calls for:
* Hidden numbers
* Phone numbers (match start of the number, end of the number or complete number)
* All numbers from a contact
You can enter the blocked numbers manually, from the contacts list or from the calls log.
The app support several working modes:
* Accept all incoming calls
* Reject all incoming calls
* Block the numbers/contacts that are added to the list (blacklist)
* Accept only incoming calls from the numbers/contacts that are added to the list (whitelist)
Note that the app is started when the call is received. Due to that, is possible that the system starts the incoming call ringtone before the app ends it. If that occurs, please, create a ringtone with 1-2 seconds of silence and use it.
Also, the app can show the list of rejected calls and much more...

Thank you for the app!! I am getting a Registration key is not valid message however.
EDIT: mia culpa....seems like my copy didnt get the entire thing
Hidden Numbers
May seem like a dumb question but just wondering if the blocking of hidden numbers is "all hidden numbers" or a hidden number recognized by the app after you have received and blocked it?
it works

Tried, key works! Quite confusing with "1" and "l"...
Thanks, bought it, can't stand ads.
Working very good so far , Using Galaxy S5 Duos and working great for both SIM , no ringing is heared while calling just direct busy which is very good since other applications gives a tiny normal calling tone then busy
will support by buying the app , please keep it good and updated
showing numbers by name while picking it from the call log or while checking the blocked call list instead of just the number will be good
ability to hide app icon from app drawer will be good addition also
auto add a number to blacklist if user canceled it for xx times ( if possible to do this feature )
app icon needs another color and a little bit more pro touch for the design
thanks for this great app :good: hoping that it will always working good

Hidden numbers refers to calls that are not providing the from number.
In spanish are "número oculto" and I have translated directly. Please, let me know if in english has other name.
Hey are you the dev for "root call blocker" ?
Hi, couldn't really test the app yet, since I can't add phone numbers from contacts to Whitelist. I always get the message "None of your contacts has a phone number".
Using Galaxy Note 4 with 4.4.4.
P.S.: Also missing a translation when using "Picking a number" - the three options regarding the whole number or only a part of the number are in Spanish.

Translation issues will be corrected in the next release. Sorry.
Are your contacts synced with Google? I'm using the immutable id of the contacts in order to allow backup/restore operations (not jet implemented).
No, I'm not synching contacts with Google (would make to much mess in my phone due to number of google contacts )). My contacts are only stored locally (in the phone) and a copy of them on SIM card. So there is no solution for this (yet ) unless I sync with Google?
Cool no worries just making sure, dont want him to have any of my money.
Will have a look thanks mate

What is difference b/w this app and sams built-in block app?
Can you please add the function to block groups?
I have a group for business and want to add the entire group in the holidays.
@bartito or anyone else used the app - I have a question
What is the blocking method of this app?
Blocks the call at system level. No ringtone or screen wake
Rings for few seconds & then the app rejects it
Picks the call & immediately rejects it
Re calls blocker app

SMS app to combine conversations from the same contact in the same chat window

Hy there,
I hope I posted where I should and if I didn't please tell me the correct section where I should do this. Also, I am not a developer, I do not have root on my phone. I do not want solutions that require changing XML files or anything. I am just asking about an app that I could find in the Play Store, or, maybe, and apk to download (this being the second option)
I have a problem with the messaging app since I left my HTC One S for the Nexus 5X in June 2016 and I did not find an app to replace that, not even on my current Oneplus 5T.
So, I have a contact in my phonebook saved with multiple numbers - work / mobile / home etc. and she texts SMS from either of the numbers (doesn't really matter because they are included in the carrier plan as unlimited). But my messaging app is sorting those SMS as different entries by phone number, and not by contact. So if we start a conversation in a chat window based on the home number, the answer may end up in a different chat windows (she has a dual sim phone so it depends on the settings on which is right now, and because the SMSs are "free", she tends to not look at which carrier is using, because, why would you if they are all free?), but this actually disrupts the logical flow of the conversation.
I know that a such app exists because I used it on HTC One S in 2012 and I was able to send SMS to which number I wanted to select (home / mobile / work of the same contact from the phonebook) and I had all the conversation in only one place, but after I changed on Nexus 5X and now on OnePlus 5T I can not find this feature in the installed app messenger (Google's or Oneplus's), neither on Google searches or specialized websites. I have tested some of the SMS apps, looked for settings, but all of them seem to show the SMSs based on the phone number, and not based on the contact entries.
Can someone suggest an app that could do that? Maybe I didn't search good enough.
P.S. The MMS option to send grouped messages is not an option because this means I will send the same SMS to multiple numbers, but those numbers are of the same person so there is no need to do that ...
Thank you very much for Your answer.
