Is there any app for the xoom that will turn off all sounds for things like meetings? On the phones, there is one where all you do is press the power button and then choose silent sounds. Thanks!
Tasker , you have to do a step by step config , or try silent mode timer .
use the volume key to bring up the volume on the screen then click on the speaker, mutes everythng.

OP: Use what he said in the post above. It's built into the system, and literally takes half a second to do. That's what it's there for, right?
volume plus(+) app. it has two widgets, one is a profile shuffler. three profiles so either one or two clicks on your homescreen.
probably beats having to bring up settings or pressing the a bit hard to press volume keys.

This works well for the alarms and ringers, but certain apps *ALWAYS* ignore this setting and use full volume anyways.
Personally, I like and use Quick Settings. It works very well and lets you change settings quickly. You can quickly choose between silent, vibrate, sound only, or sound and vibrate with it.
I use AudioManager. You can set up widgets for whatever sounds you want/dont want.
i.e. I have 4. One for only Media sounds. One for only Systems sounds. One for all to be up, and one for all to be off. You create the widget and press it once and then profile will be applied. You can set each setting to a specific volume. For example, if you want to watch movies at a certain volume, create the widget, during the creation, choose the sound volume and save it. Same can be done for music. You can create a widget to have some sounds on, and some off. Its totally customizable and i highly recommend it.
They have a pro version as well.

I forgot there were physical volume keys. Thanks for the pointer except it only handles 2 of the 3 things that has sound to it. If you went to settings and then sound, you will notice that the third one with the clock is not set from the volume keys. The 2nd one is when you click on the 3 sliders icon on the right side after clicking on the volume button.
With phones, I use Silent Mode Jammer which basically turns off all sounds when pressing the power button but on the Xoom, even with Silent Mode Jammer enabled, pressing the power button only allows shutdown of the device.
Xoom doesn't vibrate are you using this for silence?

I installed Volume+, the paid version and I don't see the widgets when I tried to add widgets to the home screen, what is it called? Is Volume+ the app with the volume knob for it's icon?

Never thought about it lacking vibrate. LOL. Haven't found anything to silence it other than using the settings and the 3 sliders manually.
Hey. I'm looking for a volume control application that would basically let me control the volume of individual applications.
Reason I'm asking for this is due to the fact I use a GPS navigation application and Winamp at the same time while driving. I'd like Winamp's volume to be slightly lower than the navigation application so I can hear the given directions better. Thanks.
OK, here's the deal: Android services, unlike activities, are unable to capture keypresses via i.e. onKeyDown(). That makes it hard for services that for example play music to detect volume rocker presses. Capturing them is possible, as Voodoo Louder somehow detects it, but unfortunately Voodoo author is not willing to share his secret. So question to you hackers - is there any other way for service to capture volume button presses, beside the one I've posted on stack exchange, the one that employs ContentObserver? Some low level kernel access point? Something in /dev/ ? Note that my device doesn't have /dev/event0, as supposed here:

Hi, here's my issue in the simplest terms I can come up with: I'm attempting to create an app that detects when the play/pause button on wired headphones is pressed every few milliseconds (less than 5ms preferably). I have managed to get the app to detect when it's pressed, however it's not checking that the button is pressed often enough so if you press the button and release really quickly, sometimes the app won't register that the button was pressed. I would really appreciate some guidance on how I could go about increasing how often the play/pause button is checked!
If you'd like more details on the project I'm working on, I made a post on a different forum called Cemetech. Apparently I can't include hyperlinks here yet so if you want to view that post, just copy and paste this address: cemetech.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=16184
Hi, been playing this phone for 1 week already.
Which i find it very interesting and useful!
But there are some issues which i find it redundant and would like to see if experts out there can solve it.
1. When i long press the fingerprint in lock screen, it will unlock the phone. but when you press long enough i can access to the Wechat pay, Mi AI, Alipay shortcuts.
I use wechat pay alot, so when i swipe to do payment (the barcode one), it will notify me EVERYTIME Not to send the code to other people unless making payment and i have to press "got it". Is there a way i can bypass this and go directly to the barcode just like when you doing it the longest way where you have to open the wechat > wechat pay > Money.
2. when i connect my bluetooth speakers (my speaker has its own volume control), the volume of my xiaomi phone and speaker volume works separately.
What i mean is when i turn the volume up on the phone only the phone media volume goes up and not the speaker. so i have to turn up the speaker volume again to set the volume i want. Is there a way that could sync both volume at the same level so one volume key can set both phone and speaker.
i found that this is a common case too where many people are searching for solution...
I have tried the enabling/disabling absolute audio which doesn't work
I just found out that the problem will not persist when i am on a call.
So when i press the volume up and down on the bluetooth headset, it will also control the volume on the phone (the volume bar on the phone will go up and down while i am increasing or decreasing the volume on headset)
I've found that the problem is very common with every single phone I had..... probably it depends also from the bluetooth accesories used.
