I'm considering purchasing the E8. I've always liked the M8, but wasn't a fan of the dent-able metal body and 4 Ultrapixel camera. I use AT&T, however. Can anyone confirm that after unlock there is full AT&T functionality, i.e. Edge network access, 3G, HSPA+, and most importantly, LTE?

Hey guys i recently unlocked my HOX and tossed a T-Mobile chip in it. Is there a way for me to get a better data speed? I'm only able to use 2G at the moment.
You can't simply enable it, as T-Mobile uses the 1700 AWS spectrum for 3G/4G in most of their areas. The HOX doesn't support 1700. T-Mobile's older 2G network runs on 1900mhz, which the HOX will pick up, but you'll be limited to EDGE speeds.
There is good news though. T-Mobile is currently in the process of upgrading those areas to support 3G/4G on the 1900mhz spectrum they have. Their main goal is to attract iPhone customers (since the iPhone also cannot run on their 1700mhz network). From what I've heard they're doing a pretty good job, but until they get your area upgraded, you'll be stuck on EDGE.
Hope that explanation makes sense. If not, here's a decent writeup:

Well at the moment my old vibrants usb port is broken, and my parents are too lazy/cheap to send it to mobile tech videos. But i may get a new phone soon, i love the galaxy s 3 but since im not getting it very soon but like few months soon, i need good backup phones. I love the htc one s but its screen maybe to small. Is the htc one x from att or unlocked compatible with my network? Or maybe the droid razr?
Anything made for AT&T will get 2G speeds on T-Mobile, but only if you can get it carrier unlocked. Most international phones are also compatible with only T-Mobile 2G
While T-Mobile is working on improving their network for better compatibility with other GSM standards, its not at a stage i would call "reliable" yet, that is, unless 2G and spotty 3G is good enough for you, with the promise of things to become better in the future. If that IS good enough for you, than you can use ANY GSM device on T-Mobile.
However, I have a feeling you want a 4G device. The best tried-and-true unlocked off-contract phone that's T-Mobile 4G compatible is the Play Store Galaxy Nexus
Hey Folks,
I am looking to ditch my current service provider for Straight Talk (which uses AT&T network I believe).
I have the option from picking a T-Mobile HTC One or Verizon Galaxy S4.
They both are priced exactly the same (buying from relatives)
From my understanding, the T-Mobile HTC One has bands for LTE network on Straight Talk but the Verizon Galaxy S4 (Only has HSPA+ for AT&T network)
Which one would you guys recommend me getting? I mainly call, text, with the occasional game & media streaming. Battery life is important to me and so is build quality and SPEED.
Thanks in advance!

Straight Talk has AT&T and T-Mobile SIM's so make sure you verify which one your getting before you order it.
I would go with the HTC One, it has the T-Mobile bands if you do plan on getting a Straight Talk T-Mobile SIM.
Hello Everybody,
I hope this is the correct place to ask these questions.
I currently have Virgin Mobile (US) service which is CDMA. The phone I have is a 510c. I really like this phone's form factor. The main thing is it is small! 101.3 x 59.4 x 12.4 mm (3.99 x 2.34 x 0.49 in). I like the service I have with Virgin Mobile (US). For a no contract $40 a month I get unlimited data & 300 minutes.
I want a rooted phone.
I've learned that CyanogenMod is made almost exclusively for GSM phones.
I'm looking for opinions on what GSM (US) carrier comes close to $40 a month and unlimited data.
I'd also like some opinions on a similar sized GSM (US) rootable phone.
Let me know your thoughts and thanks in advance!

CyanogenMod, or any custom ROM, has nothing to do with GSM vs CDMA. It just happens that since most of the world uses GSM that most phones that get custom ROMs are GSM ones. CDMA is mainly used by Verizon and Sprint in the USA, and they have some exclusive phones, so development is naturally limited.
If you want a small phone with a cheap plan, look at MetroPCS and the Samsung Galaxy Light. The phone is small, cheap, capable, and easily rootable. And since it uses T-Mobile's network, it'll beat the hell out of Boost/Sprint.
Well with the 510C, marvelC processor, CDMA it is pretty much GSM, marvel processor, or no support with custom ROMS. I did not know CDMA was supported with other phones and ROMS. Since poor CDMA support is not the case with all phone models perhaps you can suggest a Virgin Mobile phone that is easy to root and is small?
Thanks!

Hi everyone, my wife and I use Verizon and I'm running into a problem that I hope you guys can help me find a solution to.
I recently bought my wife a Samsung Galaxy S8 SM-G950U (Unlocked by Samsung). Purchased from Amazon. The phone technically works with Verizon, but it seems that it only has partial compatibility with Verizon's CDMA network. I don't totally understand but from what I gather, it works well when it has 4G LTE signal, but really has problems with lesser signals (3G, 2G, 1G). It seems like it has no connection (no calling or data) when it's out of 4G LTE range. Her old phone (HTC 10) seems to have much better compatibility with Verizon's CDMA signals. She really likes the S8, but the importance of her ability to use voice calling outweighs the other benefits of the phone upgrade, so we're going to return the Galaxy S8 and she's going back to the HTC 10 until we find something that works better with Verizon's network.
So now to my questions:
1) Is there a version of the Galaxy S8 that has better network compatibility with Verizon?
2) Are there other Galaxy phones that work better with Verizon's CDMA signals?
3) Can you recommend any other phones that are known to have great compatibility with Verizon? (Google Pixel? any others?)
My goal is to get her a premium phone that is maybe 1-2 years old, but works great with Verizon. It doesn't have to be Samsung. Thanks in advance
