OK, never had any auto resets, just had to manually restart often to cure various ills. Then yesterday it was stuck on the dimmest backlight setting. This morning picked it up from charging overnight and it's 100% dead. Switched batteries, plugged it into various computers and USB power sources. Dead.
Anyone brought a G2x back to life?
Have you tried a wall charger? If your battery discharges completely, like deader than dead, then sometimes you have to plug it into a wall charger and leave it there for several minutes before the phone will even show its connected to a charger.
I guess the real question to ask first is, what did you have it plugged in to? What kind of charger? Was it plugged into a surge protector?
It was plugged into the LG wall charger it came with overnight. I tried a iGo USB wall -> USB power supply and a USB port on my desktop windows PC.

It depends on how dead it is, if its a hardware defect of some sort then you're probably SOL. But, you don't have to be able to turn it on per se to use NVFlash, so if I were you I would try to see if you can get the device to be recognized using the APX drivers. If you can, then you might have a chance.
My G2x died after freaking up during one of the Davlik cache clears....
It originally would boot up and get stuck at "LG", but after a while it was completely unresponsive (not even a Boot Logo) and wouldn't even turn on. I thought it was fried. Luckily we have NVFlash that you can use without booting the phone up.
Take the battery out and press and hold the VOL keys, then plug it in. Your PC should "ping" letting you know something was connected. Then just reflash a recovery.
I did this a ton of times and it didn't work at first. I kept flashing stock then CWM, then stock, then CWM (different versions too). Eventually it displayed the LG logo and allowed me to boot into CWM where I flashed a new rom.
Been solid ever since.
I also read about this in the Asus Transformer forums (cause I just picked one up) and read about a guy experiencing the same thing.
Worth a shot. The NVFlash method will at least let you know if it is DEAD or just not working. If NVFlash doesn't connect then it is hosed. If NVFlash connects and accepts a new recovery, then something just got corrupted.
All good now! I unplugged, removed battery, let sit a while. Put the battery back in and it booted! Yet more strange behaviour from the G2x, but as usually I get it working again and stick with this phone.
But today I got a second from craigslist to play with alternate ROMs. Trying CM7.1 RC1 first, it's working pretty good on my Nook.
My tf101 stopped charging when I updated to ics. After the first rom I flashed wouldn't recognize being connected to my computer via usb for storage I downloaded and flashed the version from this threat (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1334673). The usb storage works fine now but my device won't charge at all while it's on. I know it won't charge with the screen on connected to the pc. But this isn't that. Even plugged into the wall it will not charge unless the device is turned off completely. If it's off and I plug it into the wall it boots up and doesn't charge, I have to manually shut it down while it's connected to the wall charger.
Any ideas? Any help is appreciated.

I was having that too. I was like wtf.. Lol I found that plugging it in and then maually turning of the screen, and then unplugging it and then plugging it back in would turn the screen back on and then it would charge while screen was on. I thought my cord was die'n. Lol
I'm having this to. what's the cause. what's the fix. what the hell....
after nandroiding revolver 4.00, I wiped and flashed EOS nightly. then it wouldny charge. I super wiped with script and restored nandroid and still no go unless I shut down manually. i m starting to think excessive flashing is detrimental to this thing. I already have issues with speakers between OS's out of the blue.
anyway why no charge? help is appreciated.

Have you tried trickle charging from your PC?
That will not work
I've had trouble with mine picking up that the charger has been plugged in as well. I'm happy to get ics but Asus does need to update some of the bugs.
Hi,
I have a TF101 as well. I cannot get the screen or dock to charge. I've tried everything suggested on this thread but to no avail.
I really need a solution to this. I've switch off the tablet for now since it's down to 18%. I've not tried the erase data option yet, does anyone know if this would help at all?
Thanks for any suggestions you might have.
iMy tablet would only charge when off after flashing an ics rom. After much research and near nervous breakdown, I did a lot of research. Mostly on asustransformerforum where there is an extensive thread about this. Since it would charge, just when off, clearly it wasn't the device, firmware (cuz if flashed different roms) or the cable.
With help from the aforementioned forum, I realizd it was the charging brick.
I went to best buy and got a dynex universal camera and camcorder charger that is adjustable to 11.0 v, which is the minimum that the tab will recognize while on.
It is now charging. Charger was 30$
Hope this helps

I checked the voltage on my charger and made sure the cables were ok - fiddly job. After they checked out ok (as I was certain they would) I did the full factory reset and cold booted a couple of times.
All of a sudden it just started charging as normal. Yay!
I can only assume it was an app that was causing the issue though i have no idea which one it may have been.
If in doubt - factory reset - is the way to go it seems.
Got an Infuse 4G from my neighbor ( He switched from ATT to Verizon knew I needed a phone so he was kind enough to give it to me) and now the phone doesn't charge. What can I do?
Chances are, you have a bad charger or a bad battery.
Either that or a broken usb port. You could be surprise on how many galaxy phones get no charge because of the usb charging port. Its very sensitive and it can be broken quite easily. But if you give more details maybe we can help. Does it responds when you connect it or it wont do anything at all?

prob is your battery if you wanna stay oem battery same thing you can get them at good prices on eBay and Amazon

Infuse Wont stay on or charge
Hello, maybe someone can help me here. My infuse suddenly won't charge or turn on at all. When I plug in the USB cable from my computer or the wall the battery icon comes on with the animated loading circle thing then goes off after about a second of doing that. When I do a hard reset with or without the battery in it and with or without the charger plugged in, the same thing happens.
Its been several days since this has been happening and after trying again today, it actually turned on and booted to the OS and was charging for about 5 mins before it stopped recognizing the charger. I pulled the battery and it since will not turn on. The battery has some charge on it but will not turn the phone on, just does the weird battery thing as described above.
I have tried several different charging cables, but have no other battery to try. Any suggestions?
Hello i had the same problem awhile back. When my phone was not rooted(Infuse) i had to go to recovery mode and wipe cache after that the charger recognized right away on the phone.
Another time After i rooted i flashed a bad rom and i could not get my phone to charge while it was off. It could only charge with the phone on....SO maybe try flashing a newer better ROM i recommend CM10.
Another thing i had to do was switch this old charger i had it would recognize for 5 min then Stop. It was just a bad wire connection.

The problem is I cannot get it to turn on at all. I was running CM10 and have tried 4 different charger/usb cables.
Sadly, the connection of this device is a known weak spot.. if its not doing anything when connected to some form of current.. all signs point to a dead port..
Hopefully that isn't the case..

I also went through this issue and i discovered that it will keep going through a battery icon and then off loop so the way to deal with this is as soon as you see the battery picture just hold the power button for like 2 or 3 seconds and then you should see the battery green indicator with the botton dots animation and it will Charge.
I am having the same issue as xtz as well. I cant get it to turn on. I flashed the Paranoid Android rom and it all went downhill from there. I flashed it and it had 10% battery left, by the end of the night it was at 1%. I went to bed and woke up with it only at 5%. I went back to stock then re-rooted it. I installed CWM but it wouldn't let me go into CWM recovery, only the Android recovery. Now the phone won't turn on at all, I have swapped batteries and USB cords with no luck. This is a brand new unit less than a week old, the battery is also less than 2 weeks old. Any help here? It won't turn on at all It does the same little ritual that xtz's does.

I already tried that and it seems to have messed up one of the batteries. The little loading circle will come on for a split second then it will go away, come back a few seconds later and it just loops. I plugged in the USB while holding the volume keys to try and get it into download mode but I'll get a warning message saying something about installing a different OS being dangerous, again, for a split second, and shuts off. It seems like the phone can't have any power go through it for more than a split second.
I'm having a similar issue with the phone not charging. But the phone won't PC or wall charger. But check this out I have a jigg for putting device in download mode when I connect it to phone. The phones goes in to download now when powered on. So what do guys think is wrong?

Do I need a new battery or does it sound like the USB port shot?
Same thing happened to my daughters galaxy s2. Usb port is shot. I got her a battery wall charger and a couple spare batteries. Charged the battery, popped it in and turned right on.

Ok so I plugged my phone in last night and charged it like normal. Woke up everything was good full charge and ready to roll. Worked my lunch and dinner shift at work, got home went to plug it in and got the slow charge message. No biggie have gotten that before adjusted my charger and boom nothing no charging at all. Changed chargers, and nothing. Completely factory reset back to stock d801G via kdz which means my port is good because I can access download and flash new firmware. Its currently plugged into my computer screen lit up with charging logo, and the led lit up too, but no real evidence that charging is happening. Any ideas on whats going on with the phone? Any ideas on fixing it if it isn't actually charging?
Hello there,
I am hoping you can help me. I bought a Droid Maxx Developer Edition rooted with the bootloader unlocked on the stock rom about a month ago on ebay used. It worked great up until a few weeks ago when I dropped it. It was only from a height of about 3 feet on to a carpeted floor. It had a case and screen protector on it but when I picked it back up I couldn't get it to turn on at first. When I finally did get it to turn on it would just flash the bootloader unlocked warning and the battery indicator at 0% over and over. So I read around and saw that I needed to get an factory adapter to be able to save it. I got the adapter on Friday and I played around with it some and was able to get it to boot the phone properly but still wasn't able to charge the phone. When I just had my charging cable I was only able to get it into fastboot mode and it would say the battery was low. Now with the adapter it says the battery is ok but still doesn't charge. When I dropped it had at least 70% battery. I am hoping I can recover all my data since I can get it booted up now. Though I am not sure how since the droid maxx doesn't have a sd card. I was thinking and please correct me if this doesn't work but I was thinking maybe I could boot up the phone on the factory cable and then place it on the wireless charger to maybe charge it. I haven't tried it yet since I was afraid to burn up something. I was also reading that there were some roms you could flash that wouldn't hurt your data. I wasn't sure if they were for this phone or for others. That would be nice if I could to that.
I want to try and recover this phone if possible since it is a developer edition and Motorola no longer carry's them. Not that it matters since I have no warranty with them since I did't buy it new. I would bet it was out of warranty when I bought it anyway. Any help or productive suggestions is greatly appreciated.
That sounds to me like s cracked logic board or maybe something on the inside is ripped. I recently bought a mini that was badly bent out of shape...after replacing a battery LCD digitizer frame ear piece, the device would boot only to cool down mode. So a logic swap got me a working phone, if you can get into fastboot.. You may be able to pull files. But I am not too sure

OTG works to get data off or just use android file transfer (Mac). USB mass storage works as is on windows.

Sorry for my ignorance but what is OTG? I will have to try switching to mass storage mode since I have a PC. Is it possible to transfer something over the communications server that is loaded?
See my x/ultra page below. Near the bottom for OTG. Windows it just works in mtp.
What happens when you boot to fastboot with just the usb cable attached to a wall charger? do you get the "charging" message in fastboot? or just Low Battery?
edit: the reason i ask is because I had a similar problem once, where i thought the phone was fubar'd cause I couldnt get it to boot, or show anything when plugged into the wall, but i left it overnight and when i got back in the am it worked. the only thing that could get my phone to boot previously was my factory cable

My first attempt to revive the phone I plugged it into the wall with the usb cable and when I booted it up into fastboot mode it said charging. Unfortunately I couldn't leave well enough alone and kept trying to get it to fully boot. When I finally stopped trying and tried to get it into fast boot and get it to charge, it would only say low battery. Then the other day when I got the factory adapter I plugged it in and booted to fast boot and it still said battery low. Then in an attempt to see if the factory adapter would let me transfer files over I plugged it into my PC. I was amazed that it booted up fully. I was excited and I looked it over and didn't see any damage from the fall. The battery indicator widget showed it was plugged in but only 1% and not charging. So I thought I would try fast boot mode with the adapter plugged in. When it booted into fast boot mode this time it said battery ok. I was so happy. So I left it plugged in all day to let it charge. When I finally got home and unplugged it, still dead.
So now that I read your suggestion of plugging it into the wall, I gave it a try since I hadn't tried it since using the adapter. I booted into fast boot and got low battery again. Then I came up with the idea to plug it into my PC. I booted into fast boot and now it is charging!!! I don't want to get my hopes up because I have been disappointed before. It is something new at least. I am, let's just say cautiously optimistic.

Unfortunately while it said charging...It wasn't. My heart sank after leaving it on to charge all day and when I booted from fast boot and it just started boot looping again. Sigh.
Well that wasn't my last option so I am trying to stay positive. Is there a way to flash the stock rom on it and not lose my data? Honestly I have never flashed any roms before so this will be fun. lol
I really appreciate everyone's help.

Fast boot without the adapter connected to the PC says Battery Low (charging)
Fast boot with the adapter connected to the PC says Battery OK
Fast boot with/without adapter plugged into the wall says Battery Low
With the adapter and plugged into my PC I can boot into the phone and the battery widget still says 1%.
The battery icon that pops up during the boot loop still says 0%
Ok I am just getting off work now so I will give that a try once I get home. Crossing my fingers and hoping this works.
