[Completed] [Q] Nand Write Fails on Samsung Note II - XDA Assist

Hi and thanks for your help,
I am a newbie to this rooting thing, have done a lot of research. I am upgrading my phone which has allowed me to experiment with my former phone: Samsung Note 2, SCH-1605, Android V 4.4.2 (Verizon) and started playing with rooting. I have used Odin 3.07 to attempt to root the phone, but it fails each time at the NAND Write function. There are a lot of threads on this and one suggestion is to use a higher version of Odin. I see 3.09 is available but the button options are different. Specifically, in 3.07, the button PDF is supposed to be used. There is no such button in 3.09. Fortunately, it reboots fine so I am not even soft-bricked on this phone. But I WOULD like to experiment with it.
Is Odin specific to each phone? And, is there a solution for this problem? I have no KIES running or even installed.
Any counsel would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Pradhan

[Completed] [Q] Help with rooting Samsung S3 i9300

Hi I have recently bought an SGS3 and have started thinking about rooting it. So i looked around for the best method and decided to go with this one: How To Root S3 on Mac OSX! | GalaxyRootS3.com Every thing was going well until step 11. when it wouldn't boot into CWM Recovery or even stock recovery. I tried re rooting it again using the same method but still got stuck on that step. I tried doing a different method as well on windows using Odin and CF Auto root, but Odin didn't recognise my phone. Any help or suggestions would be widely appreciated
Thanks in Advance

[Completed] [Q] Latest update has crippled my phone: Galaxy Note 2- Please help me

I have taken a long path to get here and would appreciate any help that can be offered with the necessary disclaimer that I am not at all tech savvy. Please do not mock me. Thank you.
My phone has lost Write privileges to applications that were not prepackaged with the phone. As a result, I cannot modify the contents of my extSD card in 7zipper. There are likely other apps that are affected but this is the one I use frequently. Research into how this can be remedied has led me to the conclusion I have to root my phone and use one of the apps available whose purview strictly applies to resetting this particular problem.
I have two applications downloaded that can do this but the phone needs to be rooted before I can use either. I have downloaded two programs that purport to root the phone with ease. The one I've tried to use so far because of ease of access is Towelroot.
I mailed geohot with a plea for assistance. This was before I found out he works for Google. Suffice to say, I am embarrassed. Anyhow, I have gone through several modstrings as described in his last update and my phone should still be in the loop to benefit from this. The kernel reads as being instituted on May 16th. There are still a few strings I can try on my own but frankly, it is a blind pursuit.
If there is a knowledgeable soul out there who can walk me through the process beyond what I've described, I would be very grateful. I don't know what details would be helpful to share at this time beyond this set of disjointed steps I've undergone and I'm also trying to be brief for now.
You can mail me and I will get the notification as well as me checking back here pretty regularly.
If you've read all this, thank you for your time irrespective of whether you decide to help or are able to. If you're in a position to help, I hope you do.
Have a good day, afternoon or night.

[Completed] [Q] Galaxy Note 2 boot loop

I had attempted to reflash my At&T Galaxy Note 2 I1317 to a previous ROM from 4.4.2 or whatever the most current firmware is, and did not know that the firmware would prevent this, I've attempted loading several different ROMs through Odin and I was only able to find one that worked and would pass on Odin, and samsung kies would not register the phone to restore or recover it, but now when I start the phone it goes to the final samsung logo right before the phone would be useable and stays there, I've tried looking everywhere I could and being new to this i have honestly little idea what i need to do, but if I can even get the phone back to the most recent firmware and working I would be beyond satisfied what should I do?
Hi,
First I'm going to suggest you read through the guides and tutorials that are linked in this thread.
> AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II > AT&T Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting > ***STICKY THREAD (All Sticky Threads Here)***
Read them well and read them twice. I say this because you honestly don't seem to understand what different things are for or how to use them. For example, Odin is for flashing official firmware and custom recovery mostly, not for roms. And kies won't work as soon as you modified your device. Also, Odin won't work if Kies is running on you pc. These are important things to understand, or you could destroy your device.
Not lecturing you... Just trying to help. Reading all the guides and tutorials will give you the knowledge to do this stuff far safer.
K... That said, for help, if you still need it after the thread above, and future questions on this device.... You can ask here,
> AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II > AT&T Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
Good luck! ?
Thank you. Thread closed.

[Completed] [Q] Help with Samsung S2 (Bell) ... bricked for sure

Hi Gurus,
I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 from Bell (Canada) i9100M. I may have tried to root the phone unsuccessfully in the past and did not use the phone after that, now when I power the phone up, all I see is a Phone exclamation triangle and a PC.
I am an amateur in this dept and searched this forum, tried Odin but no luck, here what I tried:
I tried Odin3 (v1.85, v3.04 and 3.07) with Stock ROMs or CWM and it always get stuck at write nand start or sbl bin around FactoryFS or SBL1. I tried different USB cables even different PC but no luck, all the videos about unbricking a phone looks easy and smooth but I am stuck.
Can you gurus help me with step by step instructions assuming that phone has nothing on it or how to completely wipe it in case its completely corrupted and reflash it, can my phone be saved?
Please help
Thanks in Advance
Z (Calgary)
