[Q] Honor 3c H30-u10 --Which ROM is this? - General Questions and Answers

Hi there,
I bought an Honor 3c H30-u10 from Antelife. It was sold as International ROM, but when reading several threads on XDA here I do not recognise the build number that is mentioned in my phone. Besides that, I read that there is no Kitkat available for international phones and my phone states 4,4,2. And lastly the OTA tab says that the firmware is modded, so the OTA updates will not be automatically downloaded over WLAN. I would like to revert to an original ROM but have the following questions:
Based on the ROM build number in my phone: Is this a CHN phone model or an International model?
Is this a stock ROM or has it indeed been modified by Antelife as the OTA screen suggests? Or could it be due to the fact that I tried to reinstall Gapps through flashing?
Which ROM would you advise to install?
Please see attached screenshots for build no. and screenshot of OTA screen.
thanks in advance,

There is no custom recovery for our phone. I hope that someone will be able to build one. I've got the Hong Kong version and flashed it with Taiwan rom because it was 10D and I had 10b.
http://www.lg-phones.org/official-lg-g-pro-2-d838-v10e-firmware-rom.html you need to download the 16GB version.
you can flash it with this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2797190
I'm not responsible for any damage that you will cause to your phone.
Hi Sarvesh,
Even I am in need for the LG Indian version rom but its not available and hence I did not even root. If you install the Hong Kong version and need to go for the warranty repairs. LG CS will detect that the rom has been changed and hence will not give warranty. This is the only reason I have not rooted my phone yet.
guys is there a way to extract the rom from the phone directly. If yes, can you please guide me so that I can extract the rom and save it somewhere in the cloud so that everyone can benefit.
Regards,
Kailash
Hi Guys,
I dont see why you can't root your phones. You can always come back to stock using the LG Mobile Support tool. I had softbricked my phone a few weeks back and was able to restore my phone with stock LG ROM losing the root access.

Hi Sarvesh,
I kind thought of that but after rooting. So after changing a lot of ROMS and playing with the system i finally got a way out (just incase i need warranty) Can you send me a screenshot of your software version screen(Settings>About phone>Software information) ?
Here's what i tried.
1) Installed a custom rom
2) then installed a stock rom HKG version 10a
3) then i ran towelroot again to root the device
4) then edited build.prop file to edit information like build version, build number etc)
5) rebooted and saw the info. it worked. Then unrooted the phone.
IT WORKED > So basically i have stock rom which shows I have the Indian version
Please pm me the screenshot or send it here and i'll tell you every line that you need to edit. :good:

Hi Sarvesh,
Sorry for a delayed response, was out of connectivity areas. Looks like you have already installed a different stock. Because as far as i know the sotware version should have -IND-XX at the end.....However,
Once you have root, download and install the build.prop editor (you'll find it on google play)
Once done edit the following entries.
-ro.build.display.id =KOT49i.D83810d
- ro.lge.swversion= D83810d-IND-XX
(where 'd' is the version...fo it can be f as well. But keep both same)
That should make your ROM look like stock indian.
Then using supersu pro unroot the phone.

[Q] Is SamMobile safe? (newbie quesion)

Hello
I was wondering if the Roms available on SamMobile were really safe and clean? Given they're not working FOR Samsung, where do they get those?
I'm wondering because I noticed there was a link that came with my phone originally that wasn't there when I restored a ROM I took from SamMobile.
Thank you!

I flashed many devices with odin and firmware downloaded from SamMobile.com and i never had any problems with it. The provided firmwares are not modified and seem to be 100% official versions.
No need to worry about sammobile as it is safe and clean.
It is all in one resource for Samsung stock roms. I used so many roms for different models from there and never faced any issues.
Can you please describe which link you got additional ??

Nothing important really but there was a link to my carrier's mobile site and SamMobile listed the ROM with the name of my carrier. So I thought it had been modified. But maybe it's just because it's the same version as the one my carrier offers but doesn't come FROM my carrier?

No it's not official, I read somewhere they were named Samsung Firmware before they had to change to Sam Firmware at Samsung's request (before they were named SamMobile). I can't find where I read this though.

You're probably right, but one thing you can be sure that sammobile is a safe site....
Alright thanks everyone!
Not official, but safe. They make their money by subscription services for "premium" download privileges. Maybe ads too, but I use adblock, so I wouldn't see them.
Yes me too. But I do wonder where they get all those ROM since Samsung doesn't give the out.

Sammobile updates Samsung Galaxy Note 3 N9005 LTE
Hello,
Next newbie here
Could somebody senior please help me? I am wondering about official updates from Samsung for ROMs downloaded from sammobile, are they possible?
I've just installed Kitkat 4.4.2 on my beloved Note 3 after few days of using Darkera's Note 7 ROM when I'm tapping on "Update" in "Software Update" menu I get "Processing failed" message. Overall phone's responsiveness isn't that great, that's why I wanted to see if update is available.
Will appreciate any answers

You can't do stock updates on rooted devices with custom ROMs and custom recovery.
You have to remove root, you also need to have an UNMODIFIED system partition and you need stock recovery.
If you're using a custom ROM(your note 7 ROM is a ported stock custom ROM) then that means you are rooted and probably have custom recovery which means you need to remove root and undo any system modifications that were done in the custom ROM(including any special themes and Xposed) then flash stock recovery instead of custom recovery.
Then you might be able to do the updates but the system will be looking for your device to have straight stock with no modification, if there is any modification left behind then the update won't work.

Hi!
Thank you for your message.
Here is the list of things I did to my poor note 3 :
- rooted
- installed Darkera's note 7 rom, custom recovery and kernel downloaded also from Darkera
- unrooted with supersu
- using Odin3 I installed kitkat 4.4.2 which I downloaded from sammobile (I was told this process gonna whipe away everything - custom rom, custom recovery and kernel)
- downloaded supersu to make sure root is gone
Because of sammobile's server maintenance happening this weekend I used kitkat file I downloaded from sammobile quite some time ago (N9005XXUEND3_N9005XEOEND2_XEO for Poland) and during flashing everything went ok. But now when I go to 'settings' and 'about device' imei, modem version, baseband version are unknown and when I try to hit 'update' I get "processing failed' message. Oh, and I'm also experiencing random reboots. I'm not sure if all this is a normal thing or perhaps I did something wrong.
I hope I didn't bore you to sleep

Heelp updating new Honor 6+ PE-TL10 from 4.4.2 to 4.4.4 (3UK)

Hi
I have purchased the Honor 6+ from 3 UK.
Currently my installed rom is as folows:
Model Number PE-TL10
Build Number PE-TL10V100R001C900B141
Android Version 4.4.2
Custom Version CUSTC432D141
Fully Stock / Unrooted
I am looking to upgrade to 4.4.4 stock unrooted.
I have tried the B160 update from this page http://www.needrom.com/download/honor-6-4g-pe-tl10/ but the update always fails.
Any Idea what I'm doing wrong or the file I should be using? Also this pages says that Gapps are not incleded, does that mean I have to root in order to flash Gapps through a custom recovery?
Thanks

All honor 6 and 6+ stock roms are based on android 4.4.2.
You dont need to root to install gapps, just install the apks

Sorry of the confusion, that page lists the rom as "official Update" and "Android Version 4.4.4" and says to flash through the huawei update app on the phone.
Does that mean the only 4.4.4 woudl be a custom rom that rrequires a custom recovery?

Yes but I don't think that there is any custom rom for the Honor 6 plus. For the honor 6 there is an ufficial cm11 but it miss some basic features like dual sim support.

Not to hijack the thread, but I would be interested in getting an International ROM like you seem to have.. I have the Chinese version, which do not allow me to join Huawei cloud, and pops up messages in Chinese now and then... If the ROM is not tied up to 3UK in anyway, that is.
I have the latest build PE-TL10V100R001CHNC00B173

Seems my answer didnt get posted:
If you e.g. Open HiVoice, charachters are English & Chinese, so I guess this app are of no use, voice command I guess.. Most annoying is pop-ups warning me of backups. Since I'm not allowed to use Huawei Cloud+, it's of no use( "service unavailable in your country"). Phone is set to Norwegian language, and most apps is in Norwegian, some in English. I use other clouds for backup, but the 6+ defaults to HCloud+.
Some themes use Chinese also..
Small things that are annoying...especially when the phone is released in Europe now...
Did you manage to find any ROMS which worked on the 3uk version. As i could not find the orginal rom ( PE-TL10V100R001C900B141) anywhere to download I have not risked flashing using a ROM not based for this phone.
Hey Jusumgeezer
Did you solve the problem with a local update Honor 6+
I have a feeling the rom we have on our 3uk handests are specific for 3. ......maybe i am wrong. Would be good to se if someone has better knowledge that I do.
I bought my 6 plus from Amazon UK not 3 and I have the same versions as you, so not specific to 3. Hope this helps!
Interesting. Have you managed to load a diferent rom on to it yet success? and if yes which one?
Still no joy with updating yet. I have a feeling that the page I quoted is actually showing roms for the 6 not the 6+ that's why they won't work
NO. The page you quoted is correct. I have a feeling that our "European" models need specific ROMs for them. Which is annoying. ANy one had any luck yet?

currently the only solution is by updating manually.

3. find updater app in homescreen

Dont't work for me
I have trying all ways too update, no one work.
This way works
http://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-6/development/guide-to-stock-rom-method-t3099261
ore use multi-tool and use the unbrick option.
but the Sim card is not detected and updates also do not work and my phone keep restarting.
I suspect that the PE-TL10 partitioning is different divided than in the Chinese PE-TL10.

Whether or not your device gets an update is controlled by your manufacturer or your carrier. Contact your manufacturer or your carrier, they can tell you when/if your device will get the update.

Thanks for the update . I spoke with the infinix team rather wrote them an email and they said they are not sure if this device would get the Oreo update.
So once again if it does not get update then can I go with the custom ROM and how would I proceed with the same

Did you ask your mobile carrier if they will offer the update for that device on their network? Asking your manufacturer isn't enough, the manufacturer creates and releases the updates for devices but your carrier is the one that decides whether they will push that update to the devices on their network.
If the manufacturer releases the update for your specific model number, you don't necessarily have to update via a carrier OTA update, you can download the update manually and flash it via your devices specific flash tool on PC. Then it doesn't matter whether your carrier offers the update, you'll be flashing the update directly from the manufacturer.
As for installing custom ROMs, that will require your device to have an unlocked bootloader. You need to check the status of your bootloader to see if it is locked or unlocked. If it's locked, you'll have to search for the method to unlock bootloader on devices with your specific device model number and your specific android version or build number.
If you find a working method to unlock bootloader on your device, thrn you can flash TWRP on your device. To find the method for flashing TWRP on your device, do a Google search for:
"Install TWRP on (your specific model number)"
If TWRP exists for your model number, that will find it and how to flash it.
Then you can flash custom ROMs if any exist for your specific model number. To find custom ROMs for your model number, do a Google search for:
"Custom ROMs for (your specific model number)"
If any exist, that will find them, if you find a ROM, follow the instructions in the thread or guide that you find the ROM in to install it.

It depends on if any ROMs are available for your model number and it depends on how well the developer built the ROM. You'll have to do all that searching, reading, researching and learning for yourself. No one is going to spoonfeed you around here, you're still going to have to do the work for yourself. You are re one that wants to update your device and you are the one that knows what kind of functionality and features you want. Start finding ROMs and reading up on them to see how well they perform, find one that seems stable, ask others that have used it, when you find one that you like, try it out, if you don't like it, try another. Keep doing that until you're satisfied.
Keep in mind, this is assuming that there are ROMs for your model.

Hydrogen to Oxygen, breathe (google) freedom but what about custom ROMS?

I received this morning my device, living in China i could get my hands only on the GM1910 version.
first thing i did was download the latest Global Oxygen OTA from the oneplus website and do a local update to switch to Oxygen firmware from Hydrogen: Success
unlock bootloader: success
install TWRP: success
install Magisk: success
when i went into the settings/about phone page i noticed that my phone model is still GM1910, this is my first time to use a OP device so i don"t know how to feel about it or what that really means, I would like to switch to a custom ROM and the minimum requirement usually is to have a matching stock firmware version, doesn't mention the region.
my only question is: can the phone model name cause any trouble or is it just a "label" and is not going to influence in any way?

my only question is: can the phone model name cause any trouble or is it just a "label" and is not going to influence in any way?

I have the same variant as you, out here in Canada. I didn't find out it was the Chinese version after I had it for a few days. It hasn't had any impact on my experience whatsoever. I rooted, I flashed stuff. I even flashed Global firmware versions a few times. No issues. Hope this helps. ?

thank you for your insight,
i couldn't not notice because i had a bunch of useless (for me i guess...) chinese apps preloaded and no Gapps, maybe you received it with another version of the firmware,
but it kind of reinforce my opinion that the model name doesn't matter in this case, being the "unlocked" part the most important.
I am also running the global version of the firmware now, seems without any problems, but i will need some time to confirm that and try to flash a custom ROM or kernel in few days

I did that with no issues. I even messed up and bricked my phone at one point but was able to bring it back to life with the msm tool I think it's called...
