[Completed] Note 3 ODIN always fails - XDA Assist

I bought a note 3 which probably came with 4.4.2 D3 firmware (last 2 letters) with singtel carrier. I OTA updated to 4.4.2 NH1 which is the latest update for singtel version. I tried downgrading the kernel for towelroot cause it needed < jun 2014 so I tried flashing ND3 firmware which failed. Then my device never worked and is always in download mode or it asks for kies recovery which i tried but never worked. I tried flashing like 6 different stock tar's with odin but all fail at the system.img point. Not using any PIT file. I've still not tried flashing the NH1 which i'm currently downloading. Not if this will also fail and i'll be bricked forever. Please HELP! I've tried at least 3 -4 diffrent tars but not NH1 tar so far
Note 3 N9005 32gb LTE 4G SM-9005 (Signtel Singapore)
Also i did not enable usb debugging at all, will that cause a problem?
Ok I tried nh1 firmware as well, it still failed at system ext4 write failure

You have posted in the correct forum at Note 3 ODIN always fails I suggest you please await one of the experts to respond.
Thread Closed thank you.

NAND write error - same ol' story

Hi all,
I was asked to look at a Galaxy Note 10.1 GT-N8000 by a colleague. It had been upgraded to 4.4.2, all was fine for a few days until it crashed. It's now in a bootloop spinning on the Samsung screen.
I can access Download mode, but no recovery.
Download screen says:
ODIN MODE
Product Name: GT-N8000
Current Binary: Samsung Official
System Status: Official
RP SWREV: A2
I've tried multiple versions of Odin, multiple official firmwares and multiple recoverys (custom/stock). Generally I get a NAND write Start.. FAILED message for most things. One bootloader file gave me "invalid magic string", and by manually packing files to .tar.md5 format, I can get a blue download bar appear on the tablet but nothing ever happens.
Heimdall is able to read the pit file from the device, but not flash anything (unable to confirm end of file transfer)
This seems to either be failed eMMC, or the bootloader is locked and I just haven't hit the correct software yet. I've been on this for days and don't seem to be getting anywhere.. Where do I go from here? And am I correct in thinking that I cannot access ADB from download mode; the device would need to boot to enable USB debugging?
Thanks in advance.

Hi JJEgan,
Forgot to include that in my original post.
I've tried a few PIT files with no success. It fails at re-partitioning with Odin, and fails to transfer the pit with Heimdall.
Cheers

I've been facing the same thing these days. I was able to install a STOCK ROM here that worked. Well, it's a 4.0.4 android version and it's not recognizing my SIM card, hahaha but it worked until I figure out how to get back to my Gnabo rom OR any other one that can work properly and be rooted after. I can't tell that the same rom i used will work for you cause of the region, but If you would like to try, I can post here and you can flash it and see what happens. Although there is PIT files for 4.0.4 that might me suitable for the rom I've used. =D

What were your symptoms? worth a shot. Thanks.
I have a problem on /efs stuff, well so far I wasn't able to solve it, but as I said, the only rom that was able to be installed was the 4.0.4.
That is the rom i've used.

Note 10.1 Firmware upgrade encountered an issue

Hi
I've flashed firmwares before on Galaxy mini, Galaxy grand prime and Note 10.1 GT-N8000
So I'm a little oriented with the flashing process and even the rooting process of my devices
I've used Sammobile many months ago to get the 4.4.2 firmware that was non-official, and it worked fine for many months & I have rooted my note a couple of months ago and it was working fine, but the problem was that the charging time usually exceeded 8 hours
and that was too long as I was starting to use my note longer than usual lately
So I tried 2 days ago to downgrade to an official 4.1.2 ROM but The process Failed and I got that message:
"Firmware upgrade encountered an issue
Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again"
I tried recovery mode, but I haven't backed up my firmware on Kies before, so it didn't work for me as Kies didn't find any backed-up firmwares on my laptop
I tried firmware upgrade & initializing.. I entered my model and S/N, but I got a message that this model doesn't support initializing!
I've windows 10, and I've tried Odin 3.07, 3.09, 3.10, 3.11
I removed my external memory card, stopped the antivirus, changed the USB port and tried flashing many other firmware versions, some are 4.1.2 and the others are 4.4.2, some are official and others aren't, including the non-official version that I think I've used before
But all my trials failed to get my note working again! and I'm always stuck with this message and can't even turn my note off!
Please, can anyone help me in this problem?
IT FINALLY WORKED
I tried flashing for the zillion time.. it worked with the non official ROM
and when it opened I found all my apps there! without the rooting app
and that was In no time, so it's not due to backup
Now I want to flash an official one, or downgrade to the official 4.1.2, what can I do to avoid facing the same problem again?

G920F won't flash, SW REV check failed

Hello everyone, I searched here and found several discussions on this problem, but didn't found a solution.
My friend gave me a G920F with a bootlop problem (stock Samsung ROM), it also has a broken recovery which doesn't load at all. I can only go into Download Mode. The fact is, downloading the latest available firmware for ITV, dated 30th March if I remember well, with Nougat, I get the error message on the phone: SW REV CHECK FAIL: DEVICE 6, BINARY 5. Now, how the hell is possible that the phone has a bootloader version greater than the latest firmware available to download? My friend told me she updated the phone few days ago, so it could clearly be the 30th March, which is also the firmware I'm trying to install with ODIN. Anyone could help? I can't really figure it out.
Hi, I've got the same problem. I had stock Nougat on my G920F. Never rooted. Then I recieved a call form unknown caller and the phone crashed. Now it's in a bootloop. I can't access recovery menu, only download mode. Odin fails to push the latest software and I get "SW REV CHECK FAIL: DEVICE 6, BINARY 5" on the phone. I've tried SmartSwitch but it doesn't support G920F anymore. I tried to find sth in here but the only solution I found is to get AOKP, which is dead with no download link. Please help.
I have the same problem. I installed TWRP and LineageOS and want to go back to stock. I downloaded firmware for the phone, start it in Odin and it says in Download screen on the phone: "[CM] SW REV. CHECK FAIL. DEVICE: 6, BINARY 5". I Googled it and only found that I'm possibly flashing older bootloader than what I already have. I updated my phone when it was on stock like 2 days ago.
I will try and download newest firmware I can find, 4/4/2018. and see if it works then.
-------------------EDIT--------------------
It worked! I downloaded a ROM from sammobile from 4/4/2018, can't remember which one exactly but it doesn't matter and I didn't get any issues. Everything works fine now.

[N915FY] About downgrading…

Hello,
I would like to downgrade a Galaxy Note Edge (N915FY) to Android Kitkat but I haven't done it in a few years. I wanted to make sure I understood everything before I made any mistakes. I saw on differents topics on XDA that Samsung was preventing to downgrade on their devices since android 5.0.1.
In this case :
Is reinstalling the bootloader of an Kitkat firmware with Odin is enough to reinstall an stock android 4.4 firmware after ?
Did you know where I can find an Android 4.4 bootloader for N915FY (can I extract it from the stock firmware) ?
Did I need to do and tick "Re-Partition" on Odin ?
If I do a re-partition, what PIT file should I use (see on sammobile.com) ? (TBLTE_EUR_OPENBTU_HIDDEN100M.pit or TBLTE_EUR_OPENBTU.pit)
What is the difference between SM-N915FY and SM-N915F, I understand that one was for the European market and the other for the international market (bootloader?, partition?, LTE frequency?) ?
Do any of you have a Kitkat full stock firmware (BL, AP, CP, CSC) region XEF ? I can't find any on Internet, all the links are dead.
Thanks a lot for your help
Feel free to answer me even if you only have part of the answer !

Hello,
Thanks for your answer, I finally left the phone with the latest version of marshmallow available. What surprises me is that I only saw positive opinions on the kitkat version, since the phone works pretty well so I thought it wasn't worth the risk of downgrading.
Maybe the bugs you had come from a problem with the memory chip in your note 4, I have the impression that this often happens after a few years.
Edit: Oh! And did you have to dowgrade you bootloader before install kitkat ? I also tried to install kitkat on a defective note 4 motherboard and I had a lot of bug, but it was without repartion and with a one file firmware (I did'nt find any 4 files/repair firmware for the n915fy with android 4.4). Also an important part of link of firmware listed on samsung-update for kitkat are dead.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge is stuck in an infinite bootloop after failed flashing

Hello and thank you in advanced,
I tried flashing my S7 Edge but had no success. It is originally the s7 edge g935v however it shows up as g935u after I tried to instal 8.0 oreo from 6.0.1 marshmallow. Its carrier is verizon
What I have tried...
Flashing U and V models of 8.0 oreo
Flashing V model of original marshmallow
I inputed all the ap/bl/cp etc files where they were suppose to be. I tried both home-csc and normal csc
What happened...
It got stuck at setup connection a few times so I closed Odin (I tried latest odin, 3.12, 3.09)
It says pass (in about 5 seconds) but just reboots to same loop
(Loop says something like device was custom rooted and is locked, additonal cost to fix on the main screen and on the top it said 'old binary use new binary' once with recovery and other with boot.img
It has simply failed stopping at RQT or something like that. I have gotten a fused 8 binary 1
Using Samsung Smart Switch... was told device was not found when using the model g935u and was not supported when using g935v. Attempted multiple times with correct S/N
I also tried flashing twrp but that failed
I can not access the internal files of the phone, but it is recognized by the pc.
I also installed the samsung usb driver.
So now what? I need help fixing this and I'm becoming deperate. Might try repartitioning, nand erase all, or even pit stuff.
What is flash lock, t flash, phone efs clear, and phone bootloader update and should I use any of them?
Please let me know I am very frustrated.
